If we could start a 'Glenn Beck burns a Koran every night' rumor maybe he would have to go into hiding.

I've never seen Keith try to intimidate, badger, and threaten his own guests who dared to disagree with him.

Also, Olbermann doesn't blatantly lie to his audience because he already knows they're to lazy and ignorant to factcheck his bullshit.

Watch or listen to either one (a clip of Keith once in a while)

But truly comparing apples to moon rocks.

Right-wing populism, rooted in the religion, culture and aspirations of the lower middle class, is often caricatured as insane by its critics. That judgment is unfair. But it is true that such movements often encourage a political style of exhibitionism, disregard for the facts as understood by the mainstream media, and exaltation of the values of people who feel themselves marginalized by the political system. Not all forms of protest, however, are healthy, even if the protesters have legitimate grievances. Right-wing populism is centered on a theory of media conspiracy, a "my country right or wrong" chauvinism, a fascination with an armed citizenry, an intolerance of dissent and a willingness to declare political opponents mere terrorists. It is cavalier in its disregard of elementary facts and arrogant about the self-evident rightness of its religious and political doctrines. It therefore holds dangers both for the country in which it grows up and for the international community. Palin is polling well at the moment against other Republican front-runners such as Mitt Romney, and so, astonishingly, is a plausible future president. At least Iranians only got Ahmadinejad because of rigged elections, and they had the decency to mount massive protests against the result.

Two of President Barack Obama's economic heavyweights said middle-class taxes might have to go up to pare budget deficits or to pay for the proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system.

This is a test of the universal siren . . if you see pitchforks and torches on your street be sure to call your local authorities!

ONE BIG LIE

till taxes on the middle class have to skyrocket to pay for the banking bailouts, stimulus, and corporate bailouts. Someone has to pay, and now it's quite obvious with these "trial balloons" that it isn't going to be the top 5% income earners. Again.

(humanitarians)who've been wanting to help the poor and disadvantaged saying . . Get a job loser!! Not with my tax dollars!!

Get your own damn health care!!!

if or when the economy improves, the taxation rates will be so high that the average middle class will probably take home less than they have in decades. That will sure help the buying power. Without spending, there is no economy. Overtaxed means less spending. Less spending means more recession. This is a can't win scenario. If a majority of middle class take home even less than before, it won't be long before they are screaming for cuts to social programs and repeating the old "welfare people driving cadillacs" lines.

1) How "middle class" is defined. $350 thousand dollar a year executives define themselves as "middle class", so depending on how the PROGRESSIVE rates are structured, combined incomes between $25 thousand and $200 thousand could wind up bearing a very small percentage of the increase and cost.

2) The tax increase for "healtcare" is a smokescreen to pay for the financial bailouts. There are articles on the internets now showing how much of the bailout money has been "lost".

is probably the real possibility. Floating the "tax the upper percenters" was nothing more than spin. Western nation's entire social programs depend on the middle class taking it in the ass, not the rich.

Geithner and Summers definitely made it seem like taxes will increase. Can President Obama "sell" this?

bob h's picture

when no one wants to go along with putting some extra taxes on the well-to-do, and Obama wants to keep the focus on healthcare, what use is it to have Summers and Geithner talking about middle-class tax rises? Is that not seriously stupid?

increase your taxes when you can least afford it.

Yes we can! Surge in Afghanistan.
Yes we can! Spy on the Canadian border.
Yes we can! Bailout the rich bankers.
Yes we can! Bailout the auto industry.
Yes we can! Continue to torture.
Yes we can! Spend half a million putting a new door on a military base.
Yes we can! Give great speeches that are hollow in actions.
Yes we can! Listen to lobbyists in designing all our legislation.
Yes we can! Throw the middle class under the bus to pay for it all.

“We all recognize that a certain level of civility needed to be introduced into the public discussion,” Gary Sheffer, a spokesman for G.E., said this week. “We’re happy that has happened.”

Civility is one thing; truth must be something else altogether. If KO can't expose the BS of BOR, then who will? Sean Hannity? Not F-ing likely bub! I think it sux that either Imhelt or Murdoch would silence either because KO destroys BOR's BS while BOR just keeps spewing the BS for KO to destroy.
