"Tom DeLay is not going to jail because of his political beliefs or his ideological views. He is going to jail for breaking the laws of the State of Texas," said Matt Angle, director of the Lone Star Project.
Tom DeLay sentenced to 3 years in prison. Monday, January 10, 2011
"AUSTIN — Former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay - who rose from being a Sugar Land exterminator to one of the most powerful politicians in America - on Monday received a three-year prison sentence and 10 years probation on his political money-laundering convictions."

Do you suppose tom delay will ever go to prison, or is he too politically elite, and is America now too corrupt, for him to see equal justice under the law...?

"I'll believe corporations are people when Georgia or Texas executes one of them!"

I had not heard that one! Precious!
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!

too far off the mark with ;"Every barrel of oil that comes out of those sands in Canada is a barrel of oil we don’t have to buy from a foreign source." - Rick Perry....the operative word being BUY, factor in the lowest royalty rates in the world, add the environmental damage, deduct the cost of any cleanup and Canada is giving the toxic sludge away for free and the Cannuck taxpayers and their health pays the price.
The first casualty of republicanism is the truth.
Party politics are not only undemocratic, they are antidemocratic.
and bullshit walks. This collection of mental midgets is the best the GOP and their corporate sponsors can come up with. The future is dim folks. When politicians can throw out nonsense like that and have a percentage of the populous actually consider it as a viable answer...I don't know what to say. We're fucked.

Bachmann even knows how to use one right, I could reliably hit moving targets at 600M with ease and back then I think I needed glasses(about 31 yrs ago), yet I got a Marksmen medal anyway, better than My Dad, Uncle and older Brother ever did, not too useful a skill in civilian life though.

"...(I)....love my dog".
''I should tell my story. I'm also unemployed.'' - Mitt Romney (hahahhaha)
''I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake; we've had a hurricane. He said, 'Are you going to start listening to me here?' Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending.'' -Michele 'apocalyto' Bachmann
''There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate.'' -Newt Gingrich
''Look, I was pro-choice. I am pro-life. You can go back to YouTube and look at what I said in 1994. I never said I was pro-choice, but my position was effectively pro-choice. I changed my position. And I get tired of people that are holier-than-thou because they've been pro-life longer than I have.'' —Mitt Romney
''I am the Koch brothers' brother from another mother!'' -Herman Cain
''I have six times as many Twitter followers as all the other candidates combined, but it didn't count because if it counted I'd still be a candidate; since I can't be a candidate that can't count.'' -Newt Gingrich, bragging about his fake twitter acounts before the truth came out.
''I saw the young man over there with eggs Benedict, with hollandaise sauce. And I was going to suggest to you that you serve your eggs with hollandaise sauce in hubcaps. Because there's no plates like chrome for the hollandaise.'' -Mitt Romney at a New Hampshire diner, speaking to the owner.
it's actually a pretty good pun, but he delivered it like a robot.
''Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.'' -Michelle 'I didn't exhale' Bachmann, 2009
''We don't do — you know, we don't do elaborate things. ... Well, go, you go talk to Tiffany's. All I'm telling you is we — we are very frugal.'' -Newt Gingrich, about his $500,000 account at Tiffanys.
''It's your state that fired the shot that was heard around the world! You are the state of Lexington and Concord, you started the battle for liberty right here in your backyard.'' -Michele 'wrongway' Bachmann, speaking in New Hampshire thinking it was the birthplace of the American Revolution. Lexington and Concord are in Massachusetts. 2011 (bwahaha.. my favorite)
''I saw my father march with Martin Luther King.'' -Mitt Romney, 2007. Trying to ride his father's coat-tails on civil rights. Mitt later confessed he didn't "technically" see his father march with King. becuse it didn't happen.
This one really pissed me off. His dad, George W Romney didn't march with Dr. King because it was a Sunday. I'm an atheist but I still respected his decision. He wasn't trying to dodge anything. Mitt's dad DID walk in civil rights marches and was a firm supporter of equality. He would NOT be happy with Mitt.
''I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out: Are they pro-America or anti-America?'' -Michelle 'McCarthy' Bachmann, 2008
''My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president.'' -Mitt Romney, 2007 (he spent 30 months in dangerous, dirty France during the Vietnam War)
''What I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too.'' -Michelle 'sociopath' Bachmann, 2011. Waterloo was home to John Wayne Gacy, notorious serial killer.
I gotta quit... too many Michelles. rock n rolla cola wars, I can't stand it anymore.

As we discuss these issues, let each of us do so with a good dose of humility. Rather than pointing fingers or assigning blame, let us use this occasion to expand our moral imaginations, to listen to each other more carefully, to sharpen our instincts for empathy, and remind ourselves of all the ways our hopes and dreams are bound together."

And, yet, later on MSNBC - Andrea Mitchell and Mark Halperin got weepy about Humpty's weepiness. It seems like a reasonable idea, given that (a) people who buy corporate jets are filthy rich, and (b) I DON'T NEED A (B)! This is a country of the rich, by the rich, for the rich, where every day, it sees our laws and culture cater more to wealthy people: tax breaks, industry-written laws, bailouts, deregulation. All of it goes to making the lives of the rich just a little bit cushier. Oh, I'm sorry. Did I say rich? I meant job creators."

Well... i have a theory that i am developing... Here on the C&L comment sections we have a small percentage of devoted Obama/Democrats critics, some of whom may actually not be republican trolls. For lack of a better term i'll call them bashers for now. Maybe some of these bashers actually believe there is no difference between the Democrats and the republicans except for a few wedge issues - issues that they don't feel are important enough to differentiate the two parties - things like religious freedom, womens rights, minority rights, unions rights, voters rights.
Perhaps republican voters are just like our bashers, with one exception.
Perhaps many republican voters, like the bashers, also think the two parties are the same bar a few wedge issues. Perhaps the only difference between some republican voters and some bashers is that the republicans feel strongly about those wedge issues, while the bashers do not.
The false equivalence meme is definitely part of seeding of political chaos to take advantage of a low information and brain washed electorate, and republican voters are also affected by it.
I'm still working on the theory...
Verily - 'tis a mind fork!

Ape-man:
There are three wings of the Republican base. First is the aggrieved ignorant. These are the people who deny evolution, climate science, and most modern advances of the last millennium. They don't understand how things work, and they don't care. A respectable person in a suit or pretty woman with a nice rack flatters their egos, tells them they are the real patriots, and gives them a list of people on whom to blame their problems which conveniently matches all their xenophobias. The Tea Party is this wing distilled.
The second is the crazy. The non-theist are the John Birchers, and the theists are the dominionist evangelicals. They have mythologies, a clear vision of the future, a long-term plan, and unlike the ignorant they have memories. Their memory can change, but it takes years or a generation, whereas the ignorant have surrendered their memory because this is their greatest enemy.
The third is the lazy, the Centrists. This is what you mentioned. They are lead by the likes of David Brooks and Thomas Friedman. Their sacred mantra is "Both Sides Do It!". They think that sneering at both sides puts them above the squabble, and it also, quite conveniently, absolves them of knowing anything or making any decisions. However, Centrism always leans right. When the Democrats are in power, they have to acquiesce to Republicans and people should vote Republican for Centrism and Balance. When Republicans are in power, Democrats have to shut the f* up out of respect of the mandate of the 'Murican People and balance and fairness. These are the people who look at the racists and paranoid and theocrats among the Republican base who were welcomed by the Southern Strategy and courting the Moral Majority, and simply tell themselves that the Democrats are just as crazy.
