Too bad the Rethuglicant/Whigs are wigging out over Wanda Sykes and Obama's funny stuff!

Dahgrostabph-r-i's picture

I'm glad the reslugs are losing it over Sykes and Obama - I hope it goes so far that they all have heart-attacks in their knees (in honor of Cheney) And maybe if enough of them drop off we won't have to suffer their deeds anymore.

Ken Salazar flips off drowning polar bears. Pelosi plays defense on knowledge of torture. Footloose is a reality at an Ohio Christian school. The Senate weighs our health care "options". The U.S. puts most of the blame for Afghani war dead on the Taliban. Obama wants consumers to have better corporate credit abuse protections. An ex-soldier was convicted of raping a Iraqi woman. Rhode Island Catholics are an impediment to gay marriage. I wonder if this topic will end up making it into a Family Guy episode. Blackwater slithers out of Iraq. It only took another train accident for another state to ban texting and using a cellphone while driving. Employers lie about openings and the qualifications of their candidates. Our troops are insufficiently equipped for fighting in Afghanistan. Millions of children under five are hungry in America. Some baby food is worse than junk food. Civil rights leaders want Obama to address their issues, too.

Ferrofluid's picture

then we see what happens in the reconstruction.

Salazar smelled like an asshole when he was on TDS the other night. Stonewaller. I'm not surprised he's throwing an innocent species under the bus.

Which topic do you wonder will appear on Family Guy? I take it you meant to put a link in that sentence?

I hope so, because you've got me really curious now!

former DJ, self confessed party animal, tried it all drug fiend and Recovering alcoholic, Glenn is truly a product of our time.

I spent the evening drunkenly perusing Youtube house music videos from 20 years ago, the sort of thing a sad 40 something does occasionally ;)

Glenn Beck comes from that scene, he is Generation X in the mainstream, a closet anarchist pretending to be a Libertarian/Gooper for the lulz and the dosh, gotta laugh.

Edwin's picture

I do that too, with the old music, old TV shows, and cartoons (including old propaganda ones).

Lately, I'm checking out DJ mixes. I like Adam Freeland (electronica), and Hed Kandi has some very upbeat (DANCE) stuff-- nice beats.

DJ Tiesto and Cafe del Mar have some great chill-out music, which led me to some good African and Middle Eastern chill-out stuff. Look at "related videos". Have fun. Earphones are great!!!

YouTube isn't just for bitching at wingers. Check out some Diana Krall (Cry Me a River****) videos too!! :-)

Whatchoo all listening to?

Glenn would be crying in a corner if we had true anarchy in America. He would do nothing but cry because he is not man enough to know what to do without some arbitrary laws to tell him what to do!

I personally have had to give up trying to teach myself knitting for the meantime...it's been pretty difficult and I just haven't had a lot of time lately.

I will have to sneak out to my craft room early this morning to work on a purse charm for my Maternal Unit. My plans got derailed today, so I wasn't able to get the photo charms that are going to be included on the purse charm started, and those need about 24 hours for the epoxy to dry... :)

Hope everyone who can spend tomorrow with their mothers does so! :)

It'll be Monday for me, and I'll be teaching, and my Mom is on another continet. Oh well. All part of expat life.

I did go 'home' the least three summers, in a row, to see my folks.

It's much easier than knitting: no casting on and ripping out a mistake is a cinch. If I can do it, so can you. I am sorry I heard about this project so late, or I definitely would have contributed at least one square! Thanks to the women that organized this, and may they impress this country with their project and its significance.

From reading some comments at non-left sites I think I have figured out the racist purpose of ‘Dijongate’.

If one assumes negros are inferior then they could not be sophisticated enough to appreciate any thing more than the most basic of condiments. Obama probably would have been happier to have been eating watermellon.

So Obama’s mustard preference is just an example of him acting uppity and ‘apeing’ a sophistication that it is impossible for him to have. And what could be more pretentious than pretending French pretentiousness?

makes me sick and is very saddening. :( (not what you're saying, but the implications of what they're saying)

*sigh*

If the GOP are that small minded, they deserve to wither and die.

Annaleigh's picture

I have voted for a Republican only once in the entire time I've been voting, the 10th annivesary of me being eligible is coming up...he was running for our city council and among other things I liked that he wanted to promote the arts among our teenagers, etc. But no more, no freaking more. I have become so disgusted with the GOP in the last 3 years or so, that I'm done with them, even if there's a candidate on on their own might be appealing.

Dahgrostabph-r-i's picture

I understand what you are saying Annaleigh, I couldn't vote for any Republican no matter who they are or even if I feel they shared my concerns or values, because if they had real morals and values they would have left the GOP and run for another party that is actually Pro-America!

The GOP has proved to be the most Anti-America party and they should be stopped. I'm not saying we should have a 1 party government - but really you should at least be required to prove you support America and Americans before you are allowed to run for office! - Not a single GOP'er would be eligible.

Mon dieu! Quelle surprise!

How sad.

In the racist perspective it doesn't matter if Bush's eggs contain Dijon or one of his cabinet members likes 'coq au vin'.

If Obama is seen eating such food then he couldn't like such foods because he is only trying to be white.

Arise, then, women of this day! Arise all women who have hearts, whether our baptism be that of water or of fears!

Say firmly: "We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our husbands shall not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.

We women of one country will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs. From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up with our own. It says "Disarm, Disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice."

Blood does not wipe our dishonor nor violence indicate possession. As men have often forsaken the plow and the anvil at the summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.

Let them then solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace, each bearing after their own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar, but of God.

In the name of womanhood and of humanity, I earnestly ask that a general congress of women without limit of nationality may be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient and at the earliest period consistent with its objects, to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interests of peace.

So

is there any word on what's going on with the site? It's still messed up as far as I can see - no formatting, graphics, etc. It appears to be a Firefox issue, as the site looks okay on Explorer. Has anyone else noticed this at all?

MGA1619's picture

I've downloaded and installed Firefox 3 times in the last few years. I wanted to love it like many others seem to. I just couldn't figure out what the big deal about it is. I find it slower than Explorer and far slower and more balky to run than either Opera or Chrome. Chrome is my default browser and I run Opera for some of my downloading of pictures and the like. Chrome is fast and easy to use. I can have my top favorites on a bar at the top so I don't have to open anything to get at them. I find it to be the best browser for what I do online.

Excelsior's picture

For the last few months, it's Explorer that's been slow, at least for me. It takes almost 30 seconds just to upload the main Yahoo page. Everything moves like molasses, while Firefox is quick and easy.

Other than that, thanks for the update on what you do with your computer. *eyeroll*

That old argument that China needs the US is starting to dissolve, when will the law makers in DC pull their heads out of their asses? The Keynesian supporters are in a for a real ugly surprise in a few years. You've been warned.

Goodnight, Frau Blücher

MGA1619's picture

Personally, I think that China is going to slip badly in the export market in the next few years. Much of what they export is in my opinion, junk. How many products that they make have had to be recalled? The problem with slave labor is that they don't really care how they make stuff. When you get right down to it, China and many other countries in the world are basically using slaves. People who earn pennies an hour, working 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week, stuffed into dormitories which are locked at night so they can't get out, child labor, etc. Our glorious corporate leaders have insisted that this is the way the world should be run. It's only because some brave and heroic people stood up a century or so ago and demanded better working conditions, wages and standards that we are not in that position here in the "developed" world. Corporations with government collusion have been whittling away at all the gains that were made in favor of the working man for decades now. Ronald Reagan firing the Air Traffic Controllers put a big crack in the unions foundation. Margaret Thatchers breaking of the mine workers union in England helped to grease the skids on union busting the world over. If our masters had their way we'd all be living in company houses shopping at company stores and being true slaves to the owners. Indentured to the max and never able to climb out of debt.

jakflorida32169's picture

I remember when "Made in Japan" meant junk. They fixed that problem. China will have to do the same or their economic future is dim.

What do you want to guess that for some strange and inexplicable reason every single one of the dozens of cameras pointed at the crowds malfunctioned. Maybe it will be some stooge who "accidentally" erased all the tapes instead of saving them. I particularly liked this line: A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We would never deploy officers in this way or condone such behaviour." Mmm hmm, tell me some more officer. What a crock.

proudlyprogressive's picture

Yes, I saw that one, too. The PUKIES also tried the same stunt in Minnesota during the PUKIE convention, and were caught at it, too. I guess if you go to any mass protests, you must assume that BIGBROTHER is also there watching, filming, photographing, inciting violence in order to cause a Witch Hunt.

its a new day and no new way,the corporations of the united states have made america irevellent , we no longer have a viable manufactureing base, china and india own it all, and its not comeing back here! america is now a warmongers dream, where the major product we have now is war and war products, even if obama ever does produce shovel ready jobs they will not last long and will be little better then a short time unemeployment solution , without real long term jobs with benifts that previous workers had were only dog paddeling to keep our heads above water till we finally go under, now besides iraq , and afganistan we are expected to expend our military and tax dollars to defend packistan , obama is an empty suit who has no answers to where america should go , the corporations put him in office and the corporations determin how long the working man survives and how long we still have a middle class in america, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer ,in the mean time ,in between times ,aint we got fun, clean coal, high speed trains , solar pannels , shovel ready jobs , bhawhhhha ha ha , bank bailouts , credit card handouts , where has all the money gone , long time passing , gone to rich folks everyone , when will they ever learn,

I agree, especially with the EMPTYSUIT. The 1% have made the black kid their 'boy'. But O-bought-ma is not any better than sociopath Bush. He's a pretty distraction that is disposable, too. How little he knows, poor kid. Now, he'll be the villian and he will indeed do their bidding, 'cause he already got his pay-off, his book has made him one on the 1%, how very convient.

well proudly i expected little out of the corporate owned black guy who got the nod from the easyily led public , it was obvious dureing the dummycrats debates that the only candidates the corporate whores would approve of was either clinton or obama , both of whom were more republican then then anything else, the debates were a laughable fraud , the election was a laughable fraud as i have said ,the repigs put up two throw away candidates because they would get what they needed from either clinton or obama, thier was no need to rigg the last election in favor of mccain , now the dummycrats are cheering on the repigs thru obama! great speaches , grand illusions ,

I've long felt, that all that money the USA pays out to foreign countries, FOR OIL, drains the USA economy/GDP/treasury (whatever), and must be got back. The answer-- war, arms sales, reconstruction. Repeat as necessary.

Less cynically, the USA (developed countries) must have access to cheap oil, or your country collapses. Oil drives the world economy. WWII ultimately became a battle for oil, as each power saw, without it, you lose.

So, remember, by demanding limitless cheap gasoline you support war.

(This applies to all developed countries, but the USA is the leader.)

PS Take a really good look around your house and see how much PLASTIC there is. It's shocking!!! Must have oil!!!

Remembering the great words of Julia Ward Howe, it occurs to me that the only way that we can have our country restored to its rightful owners is with the power of public referendum. At present there is no process for "the people" to propose or change law other than to lobby their representatives. We see pretty clearly what kind of lobbying our representatives listen to. Congress (House and Senate) will NEVER enact legislation that makes the bribery system illegal. This push would have to come from the people. The only way for the people to be heard is through referendum, that is voted on by all voters of every state in a general election. This process is in place at most state levels, can it be so hard to establish it at the federal level? If the pushback is so strong that it silences us, then we just need more money than the special interests, and I dont see that happening.
I want honest fair elections not determined by corporate contributions.I want honest legislative action, not determined by corporate contributions. WE ne a referendum process.

Edwin's picture

There are too many people. I've noticed this worldwide. Each country has so many people, and they're all working, and GO GO GO all the time. They are distracted with cell phones, and wanting to be gorgeous and popular, etc. Always working on their image and networking, connecting with other pods (and not face to face either). No one really pays attention any longer. Not just in the USA, but everywhere: most of the developed countries.

I watch people with their cellphones, texting and calling away. They are not even aware I am standing beside them, or that I watch. How many people do you (physically) bump into, now, because they are busy texting or reading texts? They walk down the sidewalk like they are alone in the world. All that matters is inside their little self-made bubble.

They think taking an hour or so, to vote for some decent-enough loooking guy/gal they saw on TV makes for democracy. Then they get back to their texting, shopping, networking, and ignore for 4 more years.

"If the US government enforced its banking laws like it did its park regulations, we wouldn't be

Timjoebillybob's picture

I won't agree that there are too many people, but I will agree that people are too distant from those around them. I always try to smile or nod and even say hello to people on the street, even going to far as to (GASP) hold the door for someone. And that the cellphone/texting maybe has gotten out of hand.

And how many do I bump into? Damn near next to none, I'm aware of my surroundings. Whether they are or not, I am.

And I also try to discuss politics and other events with the "sheeple" (yes us repubs use the term also). To try to inform them a bit about what is going on, the electronic age is the best and worst thing for America. Best because everyone can hear for themselves what is said and what is going on. Worst because some of them get info overload and/or are too preoccupied with the latest mtv video or text from their bff.

propose laws, write your congressmen. And to oppose? Easy as anything, return a not guilty verdict on anyone accused of breaking a law you don't agree with. And I'm not advocating lying under oath, but when a judge asks you if you will judge a defendant by the law only and not what you feel about the law, he is violating your rights and duty as a American. The supreme court from the beginning including the first supreme justice has ruled that it is your right to do so. But letting a judge know that you are aware of jury nullification is a sure fire way of getting off jury duty.
