Who is Van Jones? His own web page here for the now former special advisor for green jobs at the White House Council for Environmental Quality.

HIs book The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems c/o Amazon here

Powerful articles in support of Van Jones by Robert Shetterly, Harvey Wasserman, John Nichols and Sarah van Gelder. And a followup on the seminal work of Alex Carey on Corporate Propaganda in America.

According to Wasserman, Jones was done in by King CONG (Coal, Oil, Nukes & Gas). But there is more.

Van Jones is Dead. Long Live Van Jones!

Robert Shetterly c/o Common Dreams here

"... the 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy." --Alex Carey, Australian social scientist

Harvey Wasserman:

Obama Has Fed His Green Jones to King CONG

c/o Common Dreams here

Van Jones has been fed to King CONG (Coal, Oil, Nukes & Gas).

Obama's one serious green bright spot been sacrificed at the McCarthyite altar of the corporate bloviation machine.

The brilliant, charismatic Jones was responsible for the administration's single significant accomplishment to date. With clarity and verve Jones finally brought to the mainstream the critical message that what's good for the environment is also good for the economy.

The convenience of this simple truth has long been known to the green power movement. Since the early 1970s we have argued that converting away from fossil and nuclear fuels--coal, oil, nukes & gas--and onto a Solartopian system based on renewables and efficiency is the only route to long-term prosperity. With community-based solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, mass transit, increased efficiency and efficiency, we can and must build a sustainable economy that will create jobs and geo-political stability.

Update last but not least:

Sotomayor makes Supreme Court debut Wednesday

Michael Doyle c/o McClatchy here

They hear the case to decide if Corporations have all the rights of free speech of a person.

A 1907 law, which has since been modified several times, prohibits corporations from making "money contribution(s) in connection with any election to any political office." Congress enacted the original law following revelations that life insurance companies helped underwrite Theodore Roosevelt's 1904 presidential campaign.

Consequently, corporations — and labor unions — can't contribute directly from their coffers. Instead, many have political action committees. These PACs collect funds from employees and members and then write big checks to candidates.

If that law is overturned Corporations will be giving money directly and you can kiss whatever shred of democracy there is now goodbye.

Funny how even back in 1904, and even with a guy like TR, the insurance companies could still purchase their way out of the law.

The Sherman Anti-Trust Act specifically exempted insurance companies from its provisions.

I wonder why...

Plus, I'm wondering why no one in the MSM (or here?) hasn't been discussing the recent under oath deposition of Sybil Edmonds:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/arti...

Thank you! We can't have too many links on this one. So far it is a one room echo.

My previous note is here.

One commenter on Brad's Blog suggested hitting the right wing sites and stealthily point out that a/some Democrat(s) were involved and it will go viral.

If you want to get down and dirty you could add that one is a Lezzy (some of my favorite people, so you won't hear from me). But if the wingers knew they would flip their noodles.

I mistakenly believed her testimony had been suppressed again.

Gonna bookmark it & read/watch tomorrow.

Carey's analysis is a must hear for anyone who wants to know what has befallen the country since the end of the New Deal.

And why the current administration can talk a good talk, but they can't walk the walk. Their feet are in concrete.

if this case decides that corporations are to be given full personhood...then yes, we are doomed

then i say
it's time to see their birth certificate
where were they born?
who are their parents?

i am not kidding. if a non corporeal is granted
rights/privileges guaranteed in the U S Constitution
for corporeals, then we have been totally FUCKED by
the activist rethuglican judges.

Consersatives don't like Obama's message of work hard and stay in school. So, what is their message? The same as its always been I guess. Spend money you don't have, sit at home and watch Fox News, work little, drop out or become homeschooled, and then complain that the government is interfering in the government run programs that your on. Man, you can't make this stuff up.

Maybe they want kids to get into trouble and get busted. They and their friends own the prisons.

maybe they know an educated population is dangerous to their party.

.

Oh, they've always known that. Why do you think they got in bed with the fundie nutjobs? Because they know that literalist religious mania is guaranteed to keep people as stupid as possible.

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing."

Let us all hope and pray that Pres. Obama doesn't try to promote suicide prevention, because then some of these lemming wingnuts will drop like flies...or at least, that's the logical direction their crazy contrarian behavior would be headed in.

This was after my fascinating Marilyn Monroe biography discussion with my dining room table. I'm sure we'll have some wingnuts in here tonight, so I will have to rely on tonight's discussion about Jeremy Scahill's Blackwater book with my table to get me through the night! :P

It's a myth that Lemmings throw themselves of cliffs.

Just saying :)

I don't know what to replace "lemming" with though! :)

I've heard that sheeps throw themselves of cliffs all the time.

;)

SHEEPLES.

it is! ;)

Ha!!!

just not when im trying to sleep , can i have 4 hours a day sleep plz.

Now let's get that PO passed so we can send the Republicans into the wilderness for the next generation.

just whos G/D wilderness you want to send them too anyway , just asking ! .

ABC News' Steven Portnoy reports: The Florida Republican party chairman who last week accused the president of trying to “indoctrinate America’s children to his socialist agenda” now says he’ll let his children watch what he calls a “good speech,” one the president “should give.”

http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/09/flor...

president obama has intentions of promoting personal responsiblity. he understands the importance of education. this should be music to the right's ears but no. the (r) are not interested in working together for the common good of this country/citizens. it's all about politics and party identity. i'm personally sick of it.

speech that didn't make it onto the WH website with all the socialist content in it. I guess, as they say, you can't fix stupid! *big sigh*

It's tragic that there's been no TDS or Colbert Report for two weeks...I would have loved watching them go about their business skewering these idiots...

but I don't recall hearing or seeing this bloviator before I left Miami about six months ago. The 'Pug has the look and smug affect of a Jeb wannabe.

Ain't that pretty at all...

Wouldn't put it past a Repug to do that...

FL, esp north and central portions, are basically just extensions of Alabama and Georgia. With Gov Crist (kinda Rethug-lite anyway) probably shooting for a US Senate seat, a blob of Crisco that harkens back to the bad old days when Jeb f*cked the State up with his pathetic "reedumication" programs is probably just what the FL goopers will suck up to.

What is up with all of the conservative oriented ads showing up on C & L as of late. Has the "advertise liberally" been taken over?

What ads? Get ABP (adblock plus) wich is a firefox plugin. Firefox is a must anyways.

Just saying ;)

Obama can't hypnotize the Republicans into saying "yes" once in awhile.

i swear, i think the blue dogs joined the party to destroy it from within

.............that ever since the DLC, and all those adjunct 'clubs' the DLC loves so much. It is planned to be a clean get-away, taking over the Democratic Party, without the 'issues' which is what Rahmie is in charge of- kicking to the curb good people like Dr. Howard Dean, Kucinich, etc. and hijacking the Democratic Party into PUKIE LITE with his recruiting Arlen Spector-PLEEEEEZE!!!! They get to disassociate their precious 'rep' by not calling themselves PUKIEs and fly under the radar.

The only 'success' that Dumba can claim is 'dumbing down' the general population.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen ultra-right-leaning (and, coincidentally enough, ridiculously ignorant) banner ads on this site. the latest being a "STOP OBAMACARE!" banner ad at the top of the page not just a few moments ago. thus, prompting this post in this here open thread.

just thought I'd clarify - you guys are getting money from google, not giving money *TO* google, right? cuz, I mean, those google ads are kind of buggered up and completely catering to the wrong audience.

so I hope you're not spending good money on stuff that's offensive and possibly driving away readership.

just sayin. =)

[Here's a link to the C&L FAQs. You can find them on your own in the log-in box. Once you log-in, that is. I will add that I do not think you can blame Google for setting fuzzy criteria that makes one of those ads appear. Site Monitor]

you do however...use firefox and download a 3rd party ad blocker...they work great

This generation of Republican parents, reared under Dobson's "Dare to Discipline" agenda (if you inflict physical pain on your children, they will actually love you more) don't know the first thing about raising children. Do you want your kid to read a particular book? Put it on the very, very top shelf and warn your children to keep away from it. Making it forbidden makes it more enticing. Pulling your children out of school to keep them from the "dangerous man with the funny ears and dark skin" WILL MAKE THEM ALL THE MORE CURIOUS AS TO WHAT HE HAS TO SAY!

Even in the backwards states, kids will get access to the net. They will be curious as to why this man is so dangerous. They made what would have been a boring, classroom speech into something forbidden...and irresistable.

reason. :S

OK, good for her, but really, do we have to thank people for supporting something that really should be about as non-controversial as clean air, or nutritious foods in school vending machines, or health care for all children.?? Ah, fuck it...

should be handed out... Sad, isn't it?

Tennessee mayor defends sending out false anti-Muslim email.
Johnny Piper, the mayor of Clarksville, TN, recently forwarded an anti-Muslim email urging all “patriotic Americans” to protest a U.S. Postal Service stamp that commemorates an Islamic holiday. Piper’s email falsely claims that the creation of the Eid stamp was ordered by President Obama. In fact, the stamp was first issued in 2001, during the Bush administration. It was reissued in 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Nevertheless, Piper is defending his email:

“I don’t see any reason why it would be inappropriate,” Piper said.

He said he forwarded the e-mail to provide “information” that others could make up their own minds about.

“I was surprised at a stamp being developed, and would have thought others would be, too,” he said. He added that he did not know what the stamp was commemorating.

“I laughed when I read it,” said Ahmed Joudah, head of the Islamic Center of Clarksville. “But at the same time, I felt sorry that we still have people around us that think that way.”

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/09/07/eid-stamp...

tomorrow, don't we?

I haven't been to Clarksville, TN (nor do I plan on catching the last train to there...), but my guess is that they've got their fair share of struggling businesses and citizens downtown, like most other US cities.

Hey, fuckwit, go police your own backyard and leave the big decisions, such as stamp design and whom they commemorate, to the professionals.

"Just how many stupid people are in American anyway? I'm seeing Officials from States, Government Law Makers and people who call themselves Leaders as as dumb as door knobs and these are the people parents want their kids to liken to. Most Law Makers don't know how many States make up the USA, have never read the US Constitution and some seem to be so far gone on drugs that their brains have been fired."

Pretty much sums up the 'state of dumb' in the US, unpleasant truths are ignored or ridiculed as insane (to the advantage of some), most people have the attention span of goldfish and are distracted by whatever lie Faux utters that day.

We are seeing the nine second freefall of democracy, logic and law, no resistance what so ever.

God forbid children get an education so they can think and reason and use logic ! I mean what a nightmare for the Republican party !

exactly!!!!

A guy I know has been a staunch opponent of any health care reform due to those "death panel" lies. He is 59 years old, married, pays a mortgage on his home in which he just refinanced, has pretty much depleated his 401(k), has little to no savings, maxed out credit cards, owns 4 cars that he has to pay insurance on, spends money like there is no tomorrow on vacations, etc. and works a job that pays him a minimal salary. His wife's job is similiar.

Tonight, his wife went into the hospital for some illness that I am not aware of. He is now wondering if his health care insurance will cover 100% of the costs so he doesn't have to. If not, he is finished.

understand how bad it is until they are the victim.

From how you describe the guy, it doesn't sound like health insurance is the problem. "He is 59 years old, married, pays a mortgage on his home in which he just refinanced, has pretty much depleated his 401(k), has little to no savings, maxed out credit cards, owns 4 cars that he has to pay insurance on, spends money like there is no tomorrow on vacations, etc"

It sounds like the guy is very irresponsible with money, and that is why he is worried if his health care will cover 100%. It seems to me that he made a victim of himself.

While that may be true, one would hope if you pay for health insurance, you ought to be covered if you need medical care.

We don't know our illnesses until they happen, so insurance ought to cover EVERYTHING 100%. That's the whole idea of healthcare. Universal health coverage for everyone (regardless of income).

[It's what civilized nations do, especially rich ones.]

Agreed, a NHS system makes the most sense, we are not cars, we are human beings. Whats the difference between property and people !?

I didn't feel nearly as polite.

As someone who has absolutely no coverage, but so far, pretty good health, I could easily fall into trouble very quickly.

I'll wait to really go off on the posters who still think that peoples' health is secondary in importance to insurance execs profits and that all "smart investors" should have been able to comfortably survive the bushco disaster with a little better financial planning; I still feel somewhat blessed or lucky right now. For now, to those who want to critique this man's situation, I'll just say, "Fuck off!"

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha ,
as someone who has a bum ticker and no H/C , the exe of UHC one hour wage ( 100k per hour ) would set me up for life , eat the rich indeed .

My point of bringing up that guy's situation wasn't to judge his particular situation. I brought it up because he is such an opponent of health care reform. He buys into everything the right wing says about health care reform yet he is now in a situation where full health care coverage like that being proposed could really help him out.

While your friend may have been able to plan a little better (who couldn't), it's likely that any serious illness could devastate most families way of life. A couple less cars and shorter vacations would still barely dent a cancer treatment, etc.

I don't begrudge a man an extra ride or some quality time off with the wife and/or kids.

But I'm not a fan of bloggers who feel that they can provide useful third-hand financial and/or medical advice, among other things, based on scant descriptions of situations that probably describe many Americans. Providing potential winning lottery numbers would be more of a public service.

I hope your friend gets to see the light before a medical emergency cripples his family.

I don't provide medical or financial advice, I was commenting on his description of the guy. And I don't begrudge anyone an extra ride, or time off with the family. If that's what they want go for it.

Hell my family can get by with one car but we currently have two, and are in the process of getting a third, and I'm also working on getting a bike.

And we do take vacations. But I'm not going to overextend myself to get a new car or a new harley as much as I would like to, or go on a vacation to Hawaii. I'll go on trips and buy vehicles I can afford.

The third car is for my son who is turning 16 and its an older saturn that we are paying cash for, the bike is a older 500 kawasaki that I'm negotiating with the guy for some work in exchange for the bike. And instead of Hawaii or Disney world, we go camping or take a drive and see the sights, hell I'm in BFE Indiana and I can hit Chicago or Indianapolis with the family for the day for under $100 and visit museums and such, or even just "camp out" in the backyard.

Props to you and your family for doing your best to be responsible with your money. I've never been a good money manager, but I always support people who are thrifty and responsible with their money. My parents did not instill this well in me; it's an uphill, personal struggle for me. Fortunately, I don't have kids to pass my poor money-managing skills along to.

On the other hand, I try my best to realize that for many people, not all scenarios can be foreseen or paid for, no matter how well one may plan for "emergencies". Certainly, attempting to keep one's finances in order can help, but it may not (and these days, probably won't) keep most people from being besieged by a family medical emergency. I try to look at those who get buried by such emergencies with sympathy, rather than disdain; it's easier on the soul and costs you nothing.

One piece of advice, if I may. Make your kid buy his own car. It's one thing that my parents did that I cursed them for. At first. But as I got older, I was glad that I earned my own vehicle; I was far more careful and responsible with that truck than most of my friends who were given their vehicles. My parents, correctly, said that turning 16/getting a license was not a right of passage into adulthood. Getting a job and buying/maintaining a vehicle to get to that job, plus elsewhere, was. FWIW.

Its mainly my wife that's the thrifty one, for the most part, I just listen to her. I'm not the best with money myself, good luck with your struggle. Perhaps you can find a partner to help you out with it like I did.

And I do have sympathy for people who get buried by emergencies, for the most part. If the emergency is mainly because of them, not as much. A person who's house gets hit by a freak flood yes, a person who builds a house in a known flood zone...

A person lives within their means, that has someone in their family get sick and wind up in the hospital for a month or two, or has to have expensive treatments, compared to someone who goes out and blows all their money and is worried about about whether their insurance will cover 100%.

And thank you for the advice on the car. That was the original plan, unfortunately he wasn't able to work last summer for a variety of reasons. Luckily no health related ones. But trust me he will be earning it, well at least the privilege to drive it anyway. Its going to be a backup car for the family, not just his, and since it needs some work he is going to be helping me fix it, and if he wants to drive, he will be working and paying for insurance, gas, along with maintaining good grades.

I disagree that getting a license isn't a rite of passage, but I do agree that it has to be earned for it to count or mean anything. My son will be earning it, or he won't be getting one. People rarely (never?) respect anything that is just handed to them.

Edwin do you know of any insurance private or public that covers EVERYTHING 100%(I'm not referring to cosmetic and elective procedures) all of the ones I've heard and read about, have limits, based on from cost, effectiveness, chances of survival based on age etc. All of them have some restrictions on what treatment is allowed. I don't know of any that gives providers carte blanche to provide any necessary treatment.

Ferrofluid.
I disagree that a NHS system makes sense for the USA. But you are correct that we are not cars. But the analogies for auto and health insurance are the same. My cars and myself have the insurance I choose to get for them(except I'm mandated to have a minimum amount if I want to drive my cars on the road), but one of my cars has minimal coverage and my other has much more comprehensive. And what is the difference between property and people? None. Unless your talking about Free people, then the difference is that free people have the right to do what they wish unless it physically/materially effects others without their consent. Govt mandated or Govt funded health care does physically/materially effect everyone. So it would be another infringement upon our freedom.

Fastfeat
At least for myself I have no problem if you choose not to be polite, if you choose to just hurl insults, don't be surprised if I respond in kind though. You might want to go off on what I'm about to say, I don't think peoples health is secondary in importance to insurance execs profits, but I have no problem with them making a profit out of providing health insurance, if you(collective you) don't like it don't pay for the insurance. Buying insurance is a gamble, your betting you will need it, they are betting you won't. And just like when I go to a casino I make sure I know the house rules, if you sit down at a black jack table(buy insurance) and you don't know that the house stands on 17 hits on sixteen(doesn't cover that procedure or only covers it up to x$) that is your fault not the fault of the house. And no one is forcing you (yet) to gamble, that is your choice. If you don't want to gamble, and just save the money you would be paying into the insurance co. and pay for your health care yourself, you are more than welcome to do so. But if you do choose to gamble, don't complain that you lost or that the house rules were unfair when you had a chance to know the rules beforehand.

Dnyknot, what stopped you from getting a college degree and working yourself up to that kind of position? You are blaming them for taking advantage of what is out there. I'm lucky enough to have a good heart(I think)but I do have bad lungs, and a couple of other problems, and trust me I'm not well off, but I don't blame those who are doing better. I could of done so myself and am currently working on doing so by going back to school.

Joe O, while it may not of been your intention to bring up his situation to judge it, since you did it is open to debate. If he would of lived within his means, and saved money while he could, chances are he would not have been in this situation. I don't feel sorry for someone that lives beyond what they can afford and then complains after it crashes in on them. While I don't buy into everything the right wing says about health care, I also don't buy into everything the left wing does either. I agree that there should be health care reform, but not in the way they are attempting to go about it.

Canada's covers enough for anyone to sleep at night without worrying about a thing. The reason I state it that way is I am not familiar with any restrictions, but there must be some.

For 99.99% of the people, it is more than adequate. I think people in the USA would be entirely satisfied with a system like ours.

Hell, many would be overjoyed. My only resposibility is renewing my health card every 5 years (no charge). Other than that, I never think about it. No need to. Then I can go to the doctor for anything I want, as often as I want. (But I rarely have any health problems.)

I agree that the majority of the US would probably be satisfied with the treatment received in Canada, at least for immediate care, and yes many would be overjoyed. Who wouldn't like free health care, I'm talking about the segment of the population that pays no federal income tax.

I have two problems with what you just said though, 1) your only responsibility is get get a new card every 5 years. 2) Then you go onto say that you can go to the Dr. as often as you like for anything. I don't know about Canadians, but here in the US that would cause major problems. People don't respect things that are just handed to them.

I had some neighbors who were on medicaid, their daughter got sick (low grade fever under 1 degree, and she had the sniffles) the Mom called the local clinic and asked how long of a wait for walk-ins, she was told they were running about a hour and a half, so rather than waiting she went to the ER. Had her daughter checked out and was told to give her tylenol, she had a mild cold, about two hours later her daughter still felt the same, so she took her back to the ER. They told her the same thing, and were "rude" to her because they weren't doing more. So she then went to the Drs. office (and was told the same thing). Three visits in one day(2 to the ER) for a 13 year old with the sniffles, and no she did not have any other conditions that would warrant going. But the parents didn't care, because it wasn't costing them a dime.

Now the same problem if they had standard insurance(or even none at all) do you think they would of went to the much higher priced ER first thing? Or went back again, and then to the Dr? I highly doubt it, every insurance plan I've had, has had a much higher co-pay for ER visits, if the patient wasn't admitted. Just to prevent things like this.

While stories like that don't apply to all people on medicaid, it does to a quite a few.

There are some people that abuse it. That is a given in any system. One of my friends is a hypochondriac and goes to the doctor almost monthly. Most people only go if they need to.

It's the same with any insurance: some people start small house fires so they can re-decorate on insurance money (etc.). Not new human behaviour, but it's not everyone either.

I work in an ICU, just to lay in the bed costs $6,000/day.
Aforementioned man would likely have to go without just about everything to afford a lengthy stay in that environment. I have taken care of people that have been there a month or two, which is $180,000 to $360,000, (mind you that's only the bed, no tests, no meds, no lab work, no physician charges). I'm sure if he would have gone without a home, cars, food, clothing, etc. he could have saved enough to weather the crisis. The system is not designed to "assist" you through a crisis, it's designed to gouge you and break you.

Yep

People like that only learn when the boulder comes down on their own heads. Until then, it's "I've got mine so screw you Jack". It's unbelievable.

http://money.cnn.com/2009/09/04/news/economy/...

it's a one page interview. here's one question short answer.

What do you think of the idea for nonprofit co-ops instead?

I think it's pretty much a joke. I don't believe that the cooperatives will be able to fulfill any of the vital goals. They're not going to be easy to create, and they're not going to be able to provide a strong counterweight to private plans.

... as long there is a public option.

... that repugs are anti health insurance reform, stimulus and whatever else has been proposed and/or passed.

I think it goes deeper.

This last election should forever lay to rest the claim that America is a melting pot, as long as way too many pseudo-americans feel more like we are water and oil.

America has had black people for 400 years. Most Countries in Europe only since WW II. Why are Europeans less prejudiced? They are more progressive?

I remember in Germany about 1944 or 45 that I was so afraid that 'der schwarze Mann kommt'. I was scared until they got there. After coming to the US (S.C.) I was amazed that a black man stepped off the sidewalk as we approached each other and said: "By your leave sir". I was shocked. I was 18, he appeared to have been in his sixties. That's the way it was, back in 1956. Not much seems to have changed.

but

The prejudice they don't have against Blacks is more than made up for by their prejudice against Muslims.

http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/09/07/some-2...

forget the stimulus....forget fixing health insurance

we is all gonna die

im gonna join the walking man in vegas

Of course the GOP will push a campaign against President Obama's message to stay in school and study hard. The GOPers have been against good education all along. That is why they pushed the "no child left behind" scheme. The last thing the GOPers want is a smart well educated average American.

)O(

OMG...

It's Big Brutha!!!

.
Or, it could be more like this.
.

Good news!

I've been appointed head of Obama's new Death Panels.

Since the Repubs will say we have death panels no matter what, we figured we might as well call their bluff. This should get the poll numbers soaring again.

are those like solar panels , who would of thought .

but we should tell them that the panels are only for Cons. Liberals, Progressives and even some moderates get a pass.

hey

cant a rad catch some rays , wtf wtf

I can't forget about the radicals, especially as I become more and more radicalized.

)O(

You know you're getting older when you used worry about freeing radicals

And now your only worried about your free radicals.

The GOP< Goofy Opposition party and the RNC RACIST NAZI CHRISTIAN have a lot to fear, a BLACK MAN is going to talk to their children, then he is going to go against everything they stand and crawl for Self reliance, self accountability and self improvement.
When one is a autobot,NO Crtical Thinking, No free Thought No Self Respect, No respect for your fellow man I would be scared very scared my child would find out the truth. That the GOP and RNC teach and preach LIES, self loathing and self HATRED.

with two bumper stickers. One said simply, "We Are Everywhere". And the other, designed like the cops' DARE (to keep kids off drugs) sticker, but said, "DARE to Think for Yourself."

Needless to say, I spent many hours having in-depth discussions with cops on the sides of the road about what the stickers meant and how much dope I had in my vehicle...

Republican voters:

Look into my eyes...look deeply into my eyes...your kids are going to be intelligent...your kids won't be braindead assholes like you...your kids won't have to watch FuckNews to get their think on....

OOPS!

I forgot...you can't hypnotize IDIOTS!

However, there may be hope for the kids.

click your heels so i can wake up , snap your fingers , im drifting and drifting , like a ship out on the sea

Now I'm all indocrinated and shit!

inoculated and all

I fear that is the case - certainly the Obama administration's behavior on everything from health care to climate change to war suggests that's what's going on. And if that's true, then we've got a huge problem on our hands.

Republican Incompetence Crashed the Post Office Too - http://www.hillbillyreport.org/diary/562/repu...
n the fight against Universal Healthcare and a government-run option I keep hearing one argument pop up. Republican and Conservative foghorns keep spouting out how government cannot run anything, just look at Social Security and the Post Office. They spout how the Post Office has wasted so much money and is inefficient. But they seem to constantly avoid answering the question, Why??

Jane Hamsher: "If there is going to be a serious progressive movement in this country capable of standing up for health care against an industry that spends $1.4 million a day on lobbying, we can't just look to the members of the Progressive Caucus and say "hey, you, get something done." They need cover. They need to know that they will be supported.
And people like Van Jones who have given their lives to causes we say we value like prison reform and environmental advocacy need to know that they will be defended, and not handed over to Glenn Beck as an acceptable casualty in the battle for K-Street dollars."

Obama will stress education
So wingnuts cry "Indoctrination!"
But they secretly fear
That their kids won't adhere
To theories they teach on Creation.

Work Hard
Stay in School
Don't put your knife in the toaster
Look both ways before crossing the street
Don't take any wooden nickels
Honor thy father and thy mother
Don't talk back
Sit up straight
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all
Have a nice day

the one about the knife in the toaster. Might have saved me some grief when I tried the paperclip in the wall receptacle and the aquarium light into the fish tank...

to brush your teeth and say your prayers.
And be nice to the people you meet on the way up,
because you'll be meeting them again on the way down.

ALWAYS be nice to people that handle your food.

that. Because they're idiots you know. ;)

Put the GOP back in power. Only unfettered capitalism can save the nation now.

Crank up the hurt.
