When I heard that "The Brady Bunch" turns 40 this Fall, I knew I couldn't bring myself to post the "Marsha Marsha Marsha," "Ow, my nose," or especially the "It's a Sunshine Day" musical number. Then I found this Jamie Foxx tribute to the theme song. Watch to the end: Jamie Foxx doing Prince doing the Brady Bunch theme? Priceless.

so 2 of 3 bills failed in the Senate today. I've heard that one of the possible amendments had a $3000-ish fine if you didn't get healthcare. so - poor families who can't afford healthcare get fined for not having healthcare then have to buy healthcare they can't afford after paying a huge fine they can't afford.

does this last bill contain that provision?

posting this in an open thread.

The Republicans' only fear is that public health care will work better!!!! Insurance Corporations have no feelings, no soul, so screw them because they screwed us for so many years.

Remember that corporations have no feelings - Republicans have no feelings either but that's a seperate issue.

Corporations have no feelings and they will not suffer when the public option out performs them.

walt was such a prick. i can say that here right? the only way that episode could have been better was if it was on abc. i read the book about him. the fleishers were far more talented in animation. if only they had had the money.

but, he is the reason they have some of the unions in hollywood today.

my parents took us kids to every disney movie starting in 1962. even at 4 i knew there was something not quite right about what his studio put out. they always made me uneasy. children are put in peril and somebody dies. to songs. the only one i remember ever liking was pete's dragon. and that is because i had just gotten my drivers license and took my brother and sister and my 40 year old aunt with down's. she was crying when it ended and i asked her why, and she said it was because it made her happy. makes me tear up thinking about it. she was my movie buddy.

i liked wall-e. might be one of my all time favorite movies. i have asperger's and it just tranfixes me. i know it by heart. but, i don't really consider it to be a disney film. i haven't seen any of their other stuff like that, just wall-e. one of the nice things about being a grown up is you can choose not to watch things.

wow did i get sidetracked!

there was a rather in depth article a few weeks ago that discussed the rise in health care premium costs in relation to the profits posted by health insurance companies (it also showed population growth to add some depth to the rape we were feeling).... Unfortunately, I can NOT find the dang link. Any of you liberal bastions of righteousness happen to know: 1) what the hell im talking about and 2) the link?

Thank you! I have a fiscal conservative on the fence with regards to the single payer option, and I wanted to pull out a big gun to stomp down its the ambulance chasing lawyers that are responsible for these cost increases once and for all.

but the article I was reading dealt more with the profiteering element of the equation. they showed profits from companies such as Blue Cross had risen 400+% over the last decade which is a deafening blow to all those who continue to consider greed as not a factor in health insurance premiums.

:p?

The whitehouse needs to be more careful about lying.

Are you saying Obama's people only partially read an article in a paper and did not process the information fully? They have a guy that could verify the 17% assertion, his name's Geithner.

If the whitehouse had simply goofed, why haven't they retracted the inaccurate statement? The statement is a month old and was disproved in the same article that made the announcement.

Sorry but I don't trust the administration on much.

The thing is, for meaningful reform to occur in the banking industry or in the insurance industry, the major players would have to be hurt. Perhaps even broken up and destroyed. Their stocks would plummet. This has to happen to ameliorate the excessive profits and market share that these behemoths have obtained.

But unfortunately reform in both industries has made them stronger. I knew from the outset that health care reform was NOT a priority: campaign finance reform is. Without that, there's no meaningful change on the horizon.

The recession has hit middle-income and poor families hardest, widening the economic gap between the richest and poorest Americans as rippling job layoffs ravaged household budgets.

The wealthiest 10 percent of Americans — those making more than $138,000 each year — earned 11.4 times the roughly $12,000 made by those living near or below the poverty line in 2008, according to newly released census figures. That ratio was an increase from 11.2 in 2007 and the previous high of 11.22 in 2003.

WASHINGTON — A top U.S. military commander says troops will begin getting required swine flu shots in the next week to 10 days. Active duty forces deploying to war zones and other critical areas are at the front of the vaccine line.
Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart also told The Associated Press that as many as 400 troops are ready to go to five regional headquarters around the country to assist federal health and emergency management officials if needed as the flu season heats up.
The Pentagon has bought 2.7 million vaccines, and 1.4 million of those will go to active duty military. National Guard troops on active duty are also required to receive the vaccine, as are civilian Defense Department employees who are in critical jobs.

The G-20 Announces a “New World Order” - http://coto2.wordpress.com/2009/09/29/the-g-2...
The G-20 was more than just about making banks behave. In cooperation with U.S. and foreign law enforcement agencies, Pittsburgh police and unidentified law enforcement agents unveiled some new programs for citizens. These had nothing to do with much needed jobs and health care, barely mentioned at the meeting. Rather, the G-20 premiered the “sonic cannon,” a device designed to cause serious pain from ultra shrill sonic waves beamed at those exercising their rights of freedom of speech and assembly.

CREW FILES BAR COMPLAINT AGAINST Republican SEN. 'Adult Diaper fetishist' VITTER - http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/42528
In 2007, it was revealed that Sen. Vitter’s telephone number was included in the so-called “D.C. Madam,” Deborah Jeane Palfrey’s, list of client telephone numbers. The senator confirmed he had sought Ms. Palfrey’s services, saying in a statement, “this was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible.” Two other women also alleged Sen. Vitter had engaged the services of prostitutes.
Jeanette Maier, the “Canal Street Madam,” claimed Sen. Vitter visited the New Orleans brothel several times in the mid-1990s. In addition, a woman who worked as a prostitute under the name of Wendy Cortez said Sen. Vitter was a regular client of hers between July and November 1999. Under D.C. and Louisiana law, it is a crime to solicit for prostitution. CREW filed a complaint against Sen. Vitter with the Senate Ethics Committee, which dismissed the matter without action in September 2008.

we have got to get together and get the people on the right to knock off this yelling and screaming from the beck and limbaugh viewers.

the right has no problem forcing denunciations upon the left. they do it as a matter of course. they take something that has nothing to do with anything and try to make people denounce it.

but, they do not feel they have any need to denounce the outrageous behavior of their own side.

it is because of the religious aspect that imbues everything about them. they couldn't bring themselves to say anything about palin's church and that witch hunter buddy. they force religion on us and yet their religion must not be questioned. her church likes witch hunter, fine. they ignored it. sarah palin is a good christian woman who believes a man who drives people from their homes and livelyhood is a fine and rightous man even though he claims they are witches and their is no such thing and never has.

they wrap themselves in god, guns and the bible.

just like a certain someone said.

they listen to druggies and drunks and dirty phone callers and think everything they say is the truth. and preachers endorse the druggies and the drunks and the dirty phone callers.

didn't someone say something once about a vast right wing conspiracy?

well, it was a bunch of christians who took over a political party so they could make money and shove a narrow minded bigoted set of orthodoxy down everyones throat. they make money telling other people what to do. and they want to run the whole show. the entire right is now nothing but one huge faith healing huckster revival.

they raise their kids in politics like they do in religion. you have to believe. if you don't you are wrong and there is no argument. you are wrong.

you've got to be taught to hate and fear

it's got to be drumned in your dear little ear

to hate allt he people your relatives hate

you've got to be carefully taught

do what we say, believe the lies because we have the bible and don't dare disagree.

we need to get the republicans that aren't the religious young earthers to start calling these nimrods out.

this shouting all voices out must stop.

as an autistic i have been an observer of a world in which i am not fully a part. i have been standing and rocking side to side soaking up information after the war started and everything was proved to be nothing but a lie.

before that i was in my own little world reading on a vast variety of subjects in depth.

when i started to pay attention i was shocked, shocked i tells ya.

it was like father coughlin had been reincarnated multiple times and they all had radio and television shows and had his own network and newspapers.

and at the same time people are being forced to believe in the likes of aimmee semple mcpherson type preachers. unless they get caught snorting crystal meth of a male prostitutes ass. and then we must believe that their message was true but the messenger was but a flawed human who must be forgive because he repents and still hates the gays.

time to call b.s. on the bs.

we need a national stop the b.s. campaign against the right and their lunatic christian base.

What does this country have for resources that we apparently want?
