Basically a coal lobby group sent letters opposing legislation allegedly from various community group in some congressman's districts -- including the NAACP. When contacted, the community groups said that they had not sent the letters, and in fact they turned out to be blatant forgeries. Apparently it is common practice for this lobbying group. Venice is, well, where people from Santa Monica go to score their dope. Pretty OK during the day, but a little scary at night (at least it was last time I hung out there--5 years ago plus). Invest in Lo-Jack for your car and consider a weapon if you'll be out late.
Detroit and I have switched to Paris time for a while (up at 4 am EST) in hopes of just maybe getting some outdoor work done before the inevitable hits.
