When regular TV sets pick up any web page/streaming video as a channel and someone creates a realistic news broadcast alternative. Judicial privilege, corporate shielding, telecom immunity, national security shields, executive privilege, etc. These barriers to litigation hamper any accountability whatsoever.

The British oil giant BP will today take control of Iraq’s biggest oilfield in the first important energy deal since the 2003 invasion. The move has created uproar among local politicians invoking resentful memories of their nation’s colonial past.
The agreement to develop the Rumaila field, near the southern city of Basra, will potentially put Iraq on the path to rivalling the riches of Saudi Arabia within a decade — if the Government can fend off corrupt officials, continuing terrorist attacks on pipelines and political uncertainty.
Many Iraqi MPs say that the deal is illegal, and that the constitution should give them, not the Oil Minister, the final say over the country’s vast resources.
BP will develop the field, believed to hold about 17 billion barrels of oil, with CNPC, a Chinese oil producer and supplier. Along with other agreements to be signed this year, BP’s presence is forecast to increase Iraqi production from 2.5 million barrels a day to 7 million in about six years.

I have met people who think what's good for the majority is best for all, even in civil rights issues. I have to explain to them why that is not true.
I mean, I know that right-wing wackaloons say that courts are tyrannical for stopping governments from stripping people's rights, but it's still what courts are for. And the case against Prop H8 is proceeding in federal court. (At least, last I checked it was.)
And it's only a matter of time before these laws are changed. The bigoted side wins by fear mongering and lying. Eventually, people will learn that there is nothing to fear about freedom and equality.

The Democrats need to wake up and start to push its agenda. Harry Reed needs to understand he must get health care done by Christmas. Right now the Democratic leaders are losing the fight for voters by allowing the GOP to make them too slow to act. Obama's advisors need to take into account the little guy voters that need to be excited about his final health care bill to gain their support for the 2010 elections. Right now too many "small fry" voters views are overlooked by Obama's advisors in favor of "big fish" concepts. Wake up Obama! The Robust Public Option will help all Democrats win in 2010. A weak or no Public Option will destroy the party. Get health care done and then worry about jobs! Then 2010 will be a Democratic Party party. I do not see how Obama's advisors do not see that.

On Morning Joe they show polls that say both Virginia and New Jersey said they were not voting against the President, then Joe and company ask, is this a failure for the President.

..I've been hearing that the Health Insurance Reform bill will be "Budget Neutral" or that tax increases and oversight and reforms will pay for it all over the next ten years. Isn't that what we've been hearing? If its so, why does david gregory get on the Today Show this morning, talking about the election and say that health reform will add to the deficit? Who is right? Did anyone else hear that? Is dg lying? I don't expect much from gregory but was he lying? Or is someone else lying?

Taxes that had to be raised under the Democratic Gov's, Unemployment up due to the economic meltdown stoked by the republican'ts and now the republican'ts are grinning ear to ear over two victories in traditionally republican't states. Well, whoop-de-f-ng-doo! NOW, these newly elected republican't governors benefit from the end of the recession, the President's stimulus money, etc. So their states could have elected anybody and there should be a little better economic picture in their future for their states and its all thanks to the Democrats but that's not how it will be spun. AND..for all of palin, kristol, et.al. posturing and support for the conservative in upstate NY, that traditionally republican't district voted in a Democrat.
I still don't see why anyone with a conscience would vote a member of a party that enables rape into office but what the f do I know?
