Bloomberg won :(
Virginia stays Rethug :(
Gay marriage in Maine..too close to call :(
And word has it Owens wins NY23, but that's not a def yet.
as bringing the GOP "back to life."
Someone please pull the plug. It's what the Republicans would do!
Republicans like to drag out the suffering, ala Terry Schiavo.
Bloomberg bought his election, although barely.
Virignia is the South, so nothing more need to be said there.
But the media will conveniently ignore this, as it is irrelevant to them.
about their anticipated Hoffman win?
"Democrat Owens Appears Poised for Victory"
is calling it for Owens. Of course you know dang good and well that Hoffman won't concede without a recount.
All the NBC's are owned by GE. Westinghouse owns CBS and Disney owns ABC. I am pretty sure that is how it goes. And of course, Fox is News Corps/Murdoch. All corporate owned.
May sooned be owned by....wait for it.....Comcast!
That will turn out so well, don't you think?
(He said sarcastically)
When regular TV sets pick up any web page/streaming video as a channel and someone creates a realistic news broadcast alternative. The way to kill corporate media is to drown them in competition using the only real distribution medium (the internet) that could ever combat cable. That's what Murdoch fears is coming.
CNN and the Republican scum may be BBF all the way to hell.
I've stopped paying them any regard.
the Houston, TX Mayoral race. But it will go to a run-off.
I'm all for Annise!!
in the update:
http://www.texastribune.org/blogs/post/2009/n...
And yes she seems like the best candidate for the job.
Ages ago back in the 80s, for some minor office. She's the nicest lesbian anyone could know, except for Ellen of course.
And it's funny the millions that Brown spent and he's in 3rd. Money doesn't always win elections!
with you on Bloomberg. But why do you say Virginia stays Repub? The incumbent Gov is a Dem and so was the last one.
that's all
just can't let go of wanting the VA Gov race to mean something big when it doesn't. And as njlib points out "Christie and McDonnell ran to the center".
:)
CONSERVATISM IS DEAD
PROOF:
Christie and McDonnell ran to the center.
In states that change parties every 4-8 years anyway
Christie and McDonnell refused conservative heavyweights (Palin included) to campaign in the state.
Bloomberg squeeked out a win.
Conservatives lost in a guaranteed Rep district in NY23 by running a "true conservative"
Not one liberal pundit makes these points and the press is repeating the Republican talking points.
That's ALL they do anymore. And they wonder why they're losing viewers/readers??
...but from what I've read in the past about Corzine, it seems that for all the time he's spent as Senator and Governor, there's been no love for him in the state.
Not a very hot resume stuffer for the voters nowadays. Go figure.
Well, yeah. When have conservatives ever won when they played the fundie fascist card? Hell, they campaigned like a muther in Maine against gay marriage, and it still only won by a small majority. They're slowly losing their leverage in the machine, and they know it.
Marrage" Act for everyone in a relationship.
marry interracial couples has resigned!
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/11/03/louisiana.in...
Truly music to my multiracial ears!
long enough! But still good news indeed!
still feels he did nothing wrong, the idiot...
and/or spent some time in jail.
thing to people's attention are suing the fucker and his wife for violation of their civil rights.
with a society that is all about litigation. No personal responsibilty, no real punishment, no deterrents...
*
It seems to me that the lack of effective litigation is what leads to the lack of personal responsibility, punishment or deterrents.
Judicial privilege, corporate shielding, telecom immunity, national security shields, executive privilege, etc. These barriers to litigation hamper any accountability whatsoever.
Let us sue the #@$^%&*$, and they might think twice.
but you use the adjective "effective", where I did not.
Corporations get sued, do they change, or do they just "settle"?
Do public officials get criminal time or do they just pay a fine, or more likely get off scott free?
"Effective" is the key word here.
Per HuffPo:
That's it; that's all.
That should have been what he did the first time he refused to marry an interracial couple. Resign, since he could not perform the job he was supposed to do as a PUBLIC official.
But nope, filth like him love the power and feel they are their own little kings.
Though I would have liked it better if he was thrown out instead of being allowed to walk out.
their hands for this one.
to dispense birth control pills if doing so offended their delicate sensibilities? They are licensed by the states, and they should dispense whatever is legal. Don't you think?
the only two counties in California where the county clerk refused to allow all couples, straight or gay, civil wedding ceremonies while we had legal gay marriage. And she hid behind one of James Dobson's legal advocacy groups when the local press called her on it, and her lie that it would save us money to do so. So you're right, I shouldn't be surprised.
as when some clerks refused to issue same sex marriage licenses in states where is was legal. But everyone will just ignore that.
JINX!!!! (Great minds) :)
Why? WHY????
about him.
It's a huge FU to the voters. I wish I could run just to get him out.
He won by a hair. But he'll conveniently forget.

OMG, how shocking!
;)
You're right...not one of these points will make a hint of air tomorrow. It will be the "Rise of the Right-wing" or "America turns Right".
They're talking about how "angry" that the right is at progressives for using our majority power. Anger they manufactured and whose flames were fanned by lies.
Stupid angry ignorance is dangerous like a brown-shirted Nazi follower.
I am honored by their hatred. I did not notice, however, their doing anything our way when they were the majority.
Cristie said he was pro-choice (and may have backed away from it) and got environmetal endorsements (important in the pollution state). Obviously used former pro-choice, EPA director, NJ Republican centrist governor Christine Whitman's advice who conservatives through under the bus years ago.
Chris Matthews & Hardball panel argue that the Republican victories signify a loss for the far right.
Michael "What Up?" Steele says Republican wins not a referendum on Obama.
Ba bye.
... heeheehee.
getting sleepy. I may need to march off to bed soon. But the teabagger angst should well be worth the waking up in the morning! :D
But this is too much fun seeing the teabag express crash and burn.
Talk Express crash and burn, imo! :D
I didn't think he would until after a recount. And maybe not even then. His teabagger supporters will be disappointed in him no doubt.
apparent right now. They impounded the voting machines, which were not certified, but were being tested for accuracy before a major election. There is a Chavez connection to the company that manufacturers them, and I think this will come up. Add to that the probability that folks upstate let Hoffman know exactly what they thought about him and his peeps, and it will be amazing if he has not been tarred and feathered. I hope someone got video.
speech. I'll bet you'll burst out laughing.
Headed to bed now! Sounds like a fun watch!
I'm watching it now. My jaw is on my desk. How did this guy manage a campaign at all?
What a friggin' droid this guy is. Who nominated him?
?
I just googled it. "video hoffman concession"
Here's what I found:
http://www.mofopolitics.com/2009/11/03/video-...
:)
Can't wait to find Hoffman's speech somewhere tomorrow. The guy's a real dolt as I said earlier today, and this ought to be good!! ;)
Half of American kids and 90% of black youths are on food stamps. The jobless "recovery" continues. Repugs ignore the German PM's cries for help on global warming. Gorbie says that if the Russian equivalent to neo-cons was in charge, we could have had WW3 over the Berlin Wall collapse. The parents of the murdered UC Davis student are sent a $30,000 hospital bill. East coast beef recall. Maine appears to be ready to kill gay marriage, too. Japan's approach to greenhouse gases. R.I.P. Claude Levi-Strauss. SCOTUS ignores a case of a detained Yemeni. Cheney has a memory problem. Factory towns can't find the stimulus. Reid might delay health care reform.
stems from truth carrying a death penalty for him.

The British oil giant BP will today take control of Iraq’s biggest oilfield in the first important energy deal since the 2003 invasion. The move has created uproar among local politicians invoking resentful memories of their nation’s colonial past.
The agreement to develop the Rumaila field, near the southern city of Basra, will potentially put Iraq on the path to rivalling the riches of Saudi Arabia within a decade — if the Government can fend off corrupt officials, continuing terrorist attacks on pipelines and political uncertainty.
Many Iraqi MPs say that the deal is illegal, and that the constitution should give them, not the Oil Minister, the final say over the country’s vast resources.
BP will develop the field, believed to hold about 17 billion barrels of oil, with CNPC, a Chinese oil producer and supplier. Along with other agreements to be signed this year, BP’s presence is forecast to increase Iraqi production from 2.5 million barrels a day to 7 million in about six years.
right.....
..had nothing to do with oil or opium.
BUT GODDAMMITTT!!!!!!
When are we going to STOP effing VOTE on people's civil rights???
Gay people...fucked again, thanks to shitfaced goddamn useless right wing whiny ass mother fucking breeders!!!!!
Sorry..but I'm fucking pissed off about getting fucked and fucked and fucked and not even getting kissed by these shitheels.
Thanks a lot Maine!
Maybe better luck in WA. state .
i'm seeing 51% yes (yay) 49 no (gdmfingaholes) Election results here
Civil rights shouldn't be up for a vote. This is unconscionable.
Welcome to America the beautiful.
( Expanding Gay rights ) Real close one , yeahs have it so far .
I have met people who think what's good for the majority is best for all, even in civil rights issues. I have to explain to them why that is not true.
I mean, I know that right-wing wackaloons say that courts are tyrannical for stopping governments from stripping people's rights, but it's still what courts are for. And the case against Prop H8 is proceeding in federal court. (At least, last I checked it was.)
And it's only a matter of time before these laws are changed. The bigoted side wins by fear mongering and lying. Eventually, people will learn that there is nothing to fear about freedom and equality.
Anyway, I can't say I'm surprised by the result in Maine. It's how I would have bet. The Courage Campaign was involved up in Maine too, right? Heh, what idiotic non-strategies did they devise this time?

Looks like Owens won ! Hey Rush , Becker head , Palin ! Dumb ass Tea baggers ! Thank you , good goin ! LOL
He just upped his arsenal.
The announcement underlined Pyongyang's impatience over securing one-on-one talks with Washington, as well as the difficulties in dealing with a regime that resorts to threats and provocations to get what it wants.
Sure sounds like a particular country in the middle-east. One that has the world jumping through hoops to mollify them. A country that regularly claims that any complaint about their actions amounts to antisemitism.
Now they are saying initiative too close to call.
Was this one of those referendums where a yes vote means no and vice versa?
NO = Gay marriages allowed
YES = Gay marriages not allowed
and couples should have been able to marry as of Oct. 1, but petitions flew, and a ballot question was born. The ballot question was whether to repeal the law as passed by the state reps., thus the odd yes for discrimination, and no for civil rights for all.
Rumor has it that a new bill is already written...just in case.
there wouldn't have been a referendum.
As exemplified by the race in New York's 23rd congressional district, the GOP is learning the hard way that once you let crazy out of the bottle, it's really hard to get it back in. : )
From a cover which said "Yes He Can(But He Hasn't Yet), Hope Springs Eternal. If the economy is stagnant, why are stocks up? Why you can't stop gay marriage and marijuana.
today, at 1:15 pm, shel dorf, the founder of the san diego comic con, passed away after a long illness
Yesterday, about 5 p.m., I contacted the UT, and channels 6, 8, 10, 39, and 51. I gave them the info on tomorrows service, and a link to the tribute web site:
http://www.sheldorftribute.com/
The Democrats need to wake up and start to push its agenda. Harry Reed needs to understand he must get health care done by Christmas. Right now the Democratic leaders are losing the fight for voters by allowing the GOP to make them too slow to act. Obama's advisors need to take into account the little guy voters that need to be excited about his final health care bill to gain their support for the 2010 elections. Right now too many "small fry" voters views are overlooked by Obama's advisors in favor of "big fish" concepts. Wake up Obama! The Robust Public Option will help all Democrats win in 2010. A weak or no Public Option will destroy the party. Get health care done and then worry about jobs! Then 2010 will be a Democratic Party party. I do not see how Obama's advisors do not see that.
What's the opposite of a live book chat
A seance?
There are live books who chat?
or something like that.

So here we go. Let's analyze yesterday's elections to death. I've barely been awake for one hour and I am already sick of it. On Morning Joe they show polls that say both Virginia and New Jersey said they were not voting against the President, then Joe and company ask, is this a failure for the President.
What they aren't talking about yet is whether Sarah Palin spews poison venom, since her boy lost in NY 23.
I hear this morning (before coffee) is that two states turned blue?
lol
mention one word about it on the librul media anymore pop. They turn on Fox and repeat.
I switched channels from Joe to Fox and I swear it was a continuation of what was being said on Joe's show.
This could be a good day to avoid politics.
Or just turn off the TV.
Unfortunately, in New Jersey we will vote out a Democratic Governor, because in the short term we are unhappy with him, without looking at the effect his Republican replacement will have in the long term.
..christie cuts taxes as he promised. How many services will be affected and how bad off the state will be under his "leadership".
The republiturds were laughing that they were going to win NY 23. I hate it that they made any gains it just means they can fuck more stuff up! We have had thirty years of these backwards creetins, it's time to show these bastards the door for good!
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!
..I've been hearing that the Health Insurance Reform bill will be "Budget Neutral" or that tax increases and oversight and reforms will pay for it all over the next ten years. Isn't that what we've been hearing? If its so, why does david gregory get on the Today Show this morning, talking about the election and say that health reform will add to the deficit? Who is right? Did anyone else hear that? Is dg lying? I don't expect much from gregory but was he lying? Or is someone else lying?
This isn't really a comment..I want answers.
over the next 10 years that no one will have a living wage job to pay for the shit...we'll all be on subsistence of some sort to help pay for the shit.
So, no, it won't be deficit neutral unless we go back to 90% tax on the 1%ers.
"but was he lying"
Was his lips moving?
It's too early in the morning for me to explain anything. Give me a couple of hours and I'll try to work on that for you.
I've been on the road so my computer was relegated a spot next to the cat box for the trip through Virginia....
But once to the motel I found this little gem:

If Alice hasn't seen this one...bet she'll really like it.
On to Nashville....
Hi Abby

..two gubernatorial races won by republican'ts. Taxes that had to be raised under the Democratic Gov's, Unemployment up due to the economic meltdown stoked by the republican'ts and now the republican'ts are grinning ear to ear over two victories in traditionally republican't states. Well, whoop-de-f-ng-doo! NOW, these newly elected republican't governors benefit from the end of the recession, the President's stimulus money, etc. So their states could have elected anybody and there should be a little better economic picture in their future for their states and its all thanks to the Democrats but that's not how it will be spun. AND..for all of palin, kristol, et.al. posturing and support for the conservative in upstate NY, that traditionally republican't district voted in a Democrat.
I still don't see why anyone with a conscience would vote a member of a party that enables rape into office but what the f do I know?

Even Howard Dean said yesterday he supports a strong republican party. As long as you depend on a rich man, with a big bank loan, to provide you a job you are supporting the corrupt two party, two class system. Dems support Repugs. Why? They are in on the rigged system. We need a form of socialism, not marxism, a socialism that respects basic freedom, will give us a better life, less war and more security.
responsible capitalism?
That might have existed before the civil war. Since the gilded age, the corportists took over. We had some relief for a few decades after FDR's reforms but the wolves have always lurked in the shadows. Greed and pride drive capitalism, two of the deadliest sins. It's time for a better way.
"economic upturn", per CNN.
