Maybe, in the interest of fairness, we should have teacher sensitivity training to deal with this dialect.

And in Alabama you can take your driving test in Teabonics

In Texas the skool book folks Just aproved Teabonics as an elective language course in place of French or Mexican

And verzions of the Tea-Bible and Tea-Koran will be available (for $19.95) from Evenjellical churches all over the place..

The Consitition two!

school they are just following the lead of California

David762's picture

That's one school district (Oakland, CA) versus the entire state of Texas.

And even worse yet, since school text publishers absolutely hate to waste money printing more that one version of their latest-and-greatest schoolbooks, exactly how many other states educational systems will be effected by the Texas Schoolbook Commission's (twisted) political decisions?

All. Of. Them.

I cannot wait for Texas to secede from the Union again. In fact, if they refuse to secede peacefully and voluntarily, perhaps it's time for the rest of the states to vote them out, by force. (Yep. Vote them off the "island", survivor-style.) And shift that border fence to the eastern, northern, and western borders of Texistan.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

Timjoebillybob's picture

Oakland actually approved ebonics as a second language. Texas did not approve teabonics as one.

And it's not really the textbook publishers, or Texas. It is the other states who do not wish to pay to have their version published. Do you actually think the publishers would refuse to print them if they were getting paid? If your state uses the Texas approved books and you disapprove, then you should deal with your state.

YBNurmal's picture

And the Alabama driving exams will be given in Teabonics

The Tea-Bible and Tea-Koran will be made available thru Evanjellical churches all over the place

Teabonics will be tought in place of French and Mexican

Even Tea Consitition will be made available for Patriots

All will be published on soft absorbant tea-oilet paper ('cept the Tea-Koran what will be flameable)

And that's all I have to say about tea matter.

Salon: How (and why) the media made Terry Jones a star
http://www.salon.com/news/islam/index.html?st...

When Gen. David Petraeus first spoke out against Pastor Terry Jones' planned Quran burning in a Wall Street Journal article published Monday, the story exploded in the U.S. media, going from a sideshow to the dominant national media controversy of the week. As Yahoo News reported, it was on the front page of more than 50 newspapers Thursday -- more than the total number of members of Jones' fringe Florida church.

Critics of the American media's coverage of the Quran-burning saga are loud and plentiful, and they have a strong case. In short, the U.S. media has given a global platform to a fringe pastor with a tiny flock, elevating him to a level of significance that would make most members of Congress jealous (whether or not he actually executes his plan). But those media critics are also missing the point.

To grasp the real story here, one has to understand the context in which Petraeus decided to weigh in: At that time, the Quran burning had already been treated as a major story in the media in the Muslim world for several weeks. In other words, since at least late July, when it started to get attention in some Muslim-majority countries, the story has been doing untold damage to America's reputation.

"It was a big issue over in the Arab media before U.S. media picked it up," Marc Lynch, director of Institute for Middle East Studies at George Washington University, told Salon in an e-mail. ..

And this explains why there have such massive protests in Afghanistan this week. The tensions had been building for well over a month already.

We were oblivious while the Muslim world was outraged.

Dick Cheney and friends want to destroy America and America's reputation abroad. It's called Disaster Capitalism. That's my view point anyway. They are in the business of gaining power for international corporations and by dismantling the powerhouse that America once was that makes it a lot easier. Shock Doctrine Politics. It's sad what we've allowed to happen.

Good point.

They've been successful so far, and the media is all too eager to cash in on the crisis with them.

One way of the other. Chomsky has some interesting related discussion in his books that discuss torture and the US. He starts out by quoting some people on the left who claim that the US wants to promote torture. He says no. Its not that the US wants to support governments that torture people, its just that they don't care one way or the other. I think the same is true here. Cheney and the neocons don't care about America's reputation one way or the other. They have their own reasons for wanting to support endless war: namely its good for business. Or rather its good for the businesses they are in bed with: defense (defense yeah right), oil & gas, etc.

Who put this story out there in the internet for the Afghans and the rest of the muslim countries able to spread the story throughout the middleeast? You had a congregation of 50 or less members that can't be thay smart in the first place that couldn't have been able to achieve this. Someone in a right wing group picked this up and ran with it to create havoc before the elections.

Ape-Man's picture

My take on it is that the u-tube did the work weeks ago, over in the middle east, before anyone in America got involved at all.

There's no way to hide this kind of thing from the world anymore. Like Gergen said, It used to be that if it wasn't on CNN it didn't happen. Not any more.

I'm just guessing, but in a nation of over 350 million people, there has to have been some no name nut case threatening to burn a Koran pretty much every day for years. Why now?

Corruption favors the wealthy.

You could find just as many stories on Youtube of animal cruelty, people burning US flags, fifteen year olds who lip synch to Japanese pop song (ahh Becky Cruel why do i find you so wonderful) etc. No, what made this story take off was the attention from the big media. Its a common story by now: Fox picks up a story from the right wing nutosphere. And then the "objective" (i.e. somewhat more subtly corporate and right wing bias) media: CNN, ABC, etc. pick it up. It happened with Acorn, Shirly Chisolm, the "new black panthers", and countless others.

divide and destroy. They don't even think about the consequenses for everyone, even themselves.

There was an interesting article in the L.A. Times today regarding the fact that Jesus Christ and even Mary are part of the Koran. It therefore seems pretty freakin' STOOPIT for all these "so-called" Christians to be calling for Korans to be BURNED when there are wonderful things mentioned in the Koran regarding the very man they understand to be God in the flesh:

I just love how the kids are all learning to obsess over money. 'Tis the American way.

Still, why not this. I saw on (of all places) Pundit Kitchen (a sort of LOL-cat site for politics) that the tea party has its own pyramid scheme.
http://punditkitchen.com/2010/09/08/political...

You really can just toss the conservative word salad on to any damn thing these days to make it more teabagalicious. I think I need to start my own chain letter: "Greetings fellow Patriot. I am Bubba Jones Mogadalafu, Senior Financial Advisor of previous president Goodchristian Jesus of the Constitution Democracy of Nigeria. I am writing today on an urgent matter of some financial import, and your president is from Kenya. God Bless America. ..."

Ape-Man's picture

The whole Republican party is a pyramid scheme cult.
Maybe this time the average voter will get a clue and eleiminate them once and for all.

Do the teabaggers realize that citizens below the age of 18 can't vote? Or is this just a preview of those re-education camps we've been hearing so much about?

Edwin's picture

Home schooling, Conservapedia, now colouring books, yes they want to raise a generation of the indoctrinated. They started years ago.

It's spreading to Canada. Borders don't mean much, they want conservative neighbours. My friend sent me an excellent article about this (and Harper). (I had trouble opening the file, but was able to read it at school. Not handy right now.)

far left loon >.<

Timjoebillybob's picture

I'm not being snarky, but if you had children wouldn't you want to raise them with your values? Would you consider that indoctrination? If not what is the difference?

Edwin's picture

Perhaps, but not if it includes lies. You ever read Conservapedia? (Mostly nonsense and severely distorted.) I might like to explain my values, but then let them decide for themselves. I am not them, they are not me. They are free to reject ever single ones of my values, if they wish. I reject some of my parents' values.

PS I do consider cramming religion down their throats indoctrination. But if they decide they want to worship sky gods, I wouldn't stop them. I just wouldn't allow them to spread it in my home. In their homes they can do as they wish. I wouldn't force them to be atheist either.

far left loon >.<

Timjoebillybob's picture

never read Conservapedia. I'll try to check it out some day though.

I don't teach my son lies, at least in my eyes. Some of my beliefs, some here would probably call lies. As an example and no this is not what I think or teach my children this is simply an example. You are gay I believe, I'm sure you would teach your children that that is okay, while another may teach their children that is an abomination. Which is a lie? Your beliefs are yours and their beliefs are theirs. In my eyes neither one is a lie.

Or here is something that I do think and do teach my children. Firearms are a tool, they are not something to be feared. Everyone that wishes to own one (or more) should be freely allowed to do so, and that includes full auto, short barrel shotguns and rifles, suppressors etc. And even felons that have served their time and been released. There should be no batfe check, registration or tax on them. People should not be forced to apply for permission from their state to own or carry them wherever they wish. And that firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens does much more good than harm. Now I'm sure that quite a few people on this site would call the above lies, heck I know quite a few what most would consider "hard core" gun nuts who disagree with me. But in my eyes the above is the truth.

Or for another, I believe that Lincoln was one of the worst presidents this nation has ever had. An no not for freeing the slaves, but for the unConstitutional things that he did. Which imo has lead to further transgressions. I'm sure there are lots of people that would consider that a lie.

And I am in agreement with you, if they choose to not agree with my values they are free to do so. I also do not agree with everything my parents taught me or their values.

Edwin's picture

You can teach them whatever you want. Lots of people have shitty values; true or not.

Try these on for size.

You are "black" I believe, I'm sure you would teach your children that that is okay, while another may teach their children that is an abomination. Which is a lie?

You are "Catholic" I believe, I'm sure you would teach your children that that is okay, while another may teach their children that is an abomination. Which is a lie?

You are "a woman" I believe, I'm sure you would teach your children that that is okay, while another may teach their children that is an abomination. Which is a lie?

You are "American" I believe, I'm sure you would teach your children that that is okay, while another may teach their children that is an abomination. Which is a lie?

Hard to decide?

far left loon >.<

Timjoebillybob's picture

if those are their beliefs, neither one is a lie to them. That is the point I was making.

I used the gay example because I do believe you are gay(because you have said you are), and was using it because I figured I'd be right on how you would teach your children. As I said it was an example and not what I would teach my children. But to clarify I do not believe that being gay is an abomination. It's not for me but what anyone does with a consenting partner (or several) is up to them.

I don't know enough about your stance on firearms or Lincoln to even make a guess on what you would teach your children.

Edwin's picture

I know you well enough and know you were not saying I am an abomination. I just pointed out that not all beliefs are necessarily correct. I think kids get better acclimated in a public school with lots of other kids around. Yes, they'll be brainwashed there too, but aren't we all? (What's real these days? The whole narrative is wearing thin.)

With home schooling some parents put god in every lesson, use Conservapedia exclusively, tell their kids gays are abominations and maybe the earth os 6,000 years old and flat. I don't see how that is good for any citizenry.

I'm always searching for lesson material on the internet (because I teach and there is no text) and see home schooling sites all the time. Many of them are quite slanted, imo.

Yes, I am gay and out to everyone. Have been (out) for 30 years. I don't even think about it much. I'm just me.

I never studied American history. I am a history major though. I am not fond of firearms as I don't see the need. I've lived in countries where people either don't have them, don't use them, or don't want them. It's never been in my face. I don't think about it much.

Children!!??? Oh, my ...(choke) heavens! Does not compute. Teaching the little buggers is enough. I teach them to be nice to teachers if they know what's good for them. And I'd better here some please and thank you!!

far left loon >.<

Timjoebillybob's picture

pretty much agree with you that home school kids can have a higher tendency to lack some socialization skills.

As for teaching god with every lesson, schools are not even allowed to have discussions on the subject. I'll see if I can find any links, but I know of at least one school that was sued because the teacher allowed a student started and led discussion about creationism and evolution. I don't see how stiffling a free exchange of thoughts and ideas helps our citizenry.

I do know at least one person who seriously believes that modern humans came from aliens from the planet nibiru (sp) . And has some pretty decent evidence for it from Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Sumerian and other writings and ancient myths and legends. Whether or not you or I agree that it is true, that is his true beliefs. Should he not be allowed to teach his children that?

And I'm not surprised that you found many home school sites to be slanted. IMO from what I've seen the people that home school tend to be more conservative or libertarian leaning. And I'm pretty sure that you tend to be more liberal leaning.

Same as in general, teachers from LA or San fran, would find some of the things taught in lets say a rural Texas school slanted and vice versa.

Sounds like a graduate course text for tea baggers to me.

I'm interested in seeing their big book of guns pop-up edition for patriots. I understand that real murkins' are projected in 3-d, standing over the disposed of remains of people who are not real murkins' - the dark skinned, orientals, and liberal types. Dick Armey will have a special introduction on how to start a real fake grass-roots movement with lots of corporate cash.

And the baby Limbaugh video's should be a hit. While your little tyke lies in his crib watching the stuffed animal carousel go around, he can listen to the soothing voice of El' Rushbo bombarding him with real murkin' messages like "tax cuts for the rich trickle-down to create a Utopian society," and "taking over defenseless countries is how freedumb is spread.
