I suspect Ann Coulter didn't really intend, appearing yesterday on Fox News with Marc Lamont Hill, to open a big wide window for everyone to see in brilliantly illuminated color the deep, sneering contempt in which your average Republican pundit actually holds all of those "hard-working average Americans" they normally profess to represent.

But she did:

Coulter: I think it's brilliant. And I'm baffled by people being baffled by it. Um, I mean, she's a huge, huge star. And meanwhile she's stuck up in Ulan Bator, she can neither respond to her many admirers who want her to come speak down in the Lower 48, and want her, you know, to be raising money for them, starting PACs, and being the voice of conservatism, which she is. She can't do that, or she'll be neglecting the state.

... Look, she's a lame-duck governor, it isn't her fault that she became a huge, huge star, but she is too big for the position now. And people acting like, you know, leaving a governorship is a step down.

Hill: When she was on the campaign, she talked about fighting for the little person, fighting for the state of Alaska. And now all of a sudden to say, she's too big for an elected office. I mean, how can you be too big for an elected office. That's her job. That ostensibly was her calling.

Coulter: Well, she doesn't say that. I'm saying that. Obvious.

Hill: No, no, you are saying that, but you're replicating the very thing that she said shen she said that 'I have a higher calling.' If she says that her calling is higher, it essentially is greater than the thing that she's doing right now, and that borders again on absurd.

Coulter: Than dealing with fishing licenses in Alaska. [ed. note: corrected]

Hill: Tell that to the people of Alaska.

Hill is right: Coulter is just giving clear voice to the message that Sarah Palin is sending. That message is: She's too big for those little people in Alaska anymore. Why, she's so big now she can save the world. "Don't cry for me, Wasilla!"

I bet those Alaskan voters are real impressed right about now. The rest of us too.

Why are these republicans allowed to attack democrats with the lies , deceit and BS.

Some of the news media and talk radio republicans , you could say have put targets on the back , front and on posters for many democrats ,, called they terrorist , anti-Americans and they do not even get a slap on the hand,,, While moveonorg was even censored by the democrats with a play on words.

Maybe that was not a smart thing moveon did , but I say one thing it was nothing but a needle in the hay stack compared to the slander and attacks made by republicans on a daily basis towards democrats..

You can forget all the lies , BS and propaganda directed at the democrats from these republicans and take the lies , attacks and BS on Clinton / Hillary / their daughter for 8 years plus and Bush is protected and off limits even by Obama our democratic president?????

Take it from someone who was banned for over a week for similar comments about Coulter.
She's not worth it, and such jokes are quite offensive to our friends in the LGBT community.
It shames me that I learned the hard way.

Coulter means to provoke. It's like she's jabbing you with a stick, saying, "C'mon you little pansy, get tough." It's all an act.

Sadly Thing is she's just a douchebag. Ignore her, or she wins.

Oh poor Ann. It must be a tough life having to make shit look like diamonds day after day after day.

The only higher calling Palin hears is the cha-ching of money. She's not too big for Alaska, she's too full of herself for Alaska.

The only higher calling she is getting is coming from a big fatty.

I always know what Ms. Coulter is going to say on any topic. The opposite of my opinion. I bet she thinks the sky is bright red.

the court of Louis the Sixteenth loved the peasants: they help keep the aristos in velvet and ducats.

jhunter99844's picture

Just go to google images and search "caribou barbie". OMG!!

Tyler Durden's picture

I am sure that up until the time she was about to kneel before the guillotine, Marie Antoinette had not clue why the peasants were being so fussy about... Heck, some indications point at the fact that her husband was so out of touch with reality, that he initially thought the revolution was some elaborate preparation for a future jubilee the peasants were throwing for him.

It is not their utter contemp for the lower classes that makes these people so dangerous. But the fact that societies tend to mold to the whims of ruling classes which have an unmitigated sense of entitlement and an utter lack of touch with reality. In other words, it seems human history is nothing but a sequence of societies ruled by sociopaths. I.e. good people live (and die) to further the interests of people at the top who are neither good... nor have a real interest in preserving their humanity.

"Let em eat jelly beans, let em eat cake. Let em eat shit, whatever it takes". James McMurtry, "Can't Make it Here Anymore". Great song.

like our American Revolution was more a case of the well-to-do middle classes rising against unfair taxes. Both groups managed to get the peasants (poor) to do their dirty work for them.

Sound familiar? Sort of. But this time it is the grotesquely wealthy trying to rouse the peasants against "unfair" taxes.

is that the classy ones keep their disdain for the masses to themselves. Coulter thinks she's clever for voicing it.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus

..but the only thing you can call Sarah Palin right now is QUITTER!
Lame Duck or not, she was voted into office by citizens of the state of Alaska to do a job for a specified period of time. Barring any scandal, she should've stayed on! No respect for her what-so-ever!
Had she abandoned the Governorship because she needed to take care of a special needs child, that would've been something but she's not. She's only going to take on more speaking gigs, book signings and whatever else that is going to take away time from her family. Well, phooey on her - the QUITTER!

Mickey: "It was an epiphany. Do you know what an epipany is?"
Keoni: "NOT NOW MICKEY!"

I don't even think the baby care thing would fly now because only a few months ago she was willing to take on the job of veep and even, god forbid, president if something happened to McCain. None of these family matters mattered to her then and that was a much more stressful job than being gov of Alaska.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Liberalicious's picture

a pet rock is more stressful than being the governor of Alaska.

surfjac's picture

..but since losing and with all the criticism and throwing the family into the spotlight, "the baby care thing", as you so aptly describe it, IMHO would've lifted and/or restored her credibility at least a little until she tried to re-enter the national election in 2012.

Mickey: "It was an epiphany. Do you know what an epipany is?"
Keoni: "NOT NOW MICKEY!"

Palin has known before the little baby was born that it would have special needs. How she could agree to go on the campaign trail and drag it along has been beyond me for a long time. Mika would say that if Palin was a man no one would question her joining the campaign with a special needs baby. She's right to a degree but were she a man, she would have a wife at home to care for the baby. Palin chose to have the baby and now she should put its needs before her own and she hasn't.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

I have never undwerstood the "lame duck" idea. She was in her first term.

I think she just meant "lame" and said "duck" afterwards because she was shooting a gun.

But see she was so good that she got everything done for Alaska so fast that there was nothing left to do for the second half of her first term and her whole second term. She finished early so she's going home.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Yeah, but I love Mr. Garrison. Ann Coulter's ideas seem to spring from a desire to be liked that, perversely, undermines itself. Garrison is always Garrison. He/She doesn't care what you think about him. Coulter's apparent insecurities seem monumental.

OMG Rupert, those are fictional characters!!! WTF dude.

Uh. NO WAY.

This is disinformation at best, and it is very very very damaging for any democracy. Freedom of expression should not be hijacked to allow freedom to disinform.

Liberals have been notoriously bad at presenting a counter point message, allowing these a**holes to keep controlling the message is very very very damaging. In fact, I am afraid that it is too late. "We should kill all their leaders and convert them to Christianity".

Yeah, real nice "Christian" stuff.

Okay, she does have a mean streak. But look, she's always wearing a cross so I guess it all evens out. She would go broke if she only wrote her Christian thoughts in her books. Gotta get the priorities in order. Cha-ching beats amen everytime.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

it should be upside down. Her wearing a cross is the ultimate irony. She is evil incarnate. I am sure she gets her jollies reading about herself, so let's starve the beast.

Crux inversus?

Diabolus est Deus Inversus

I don't think Palin is gonna find it any better down here. Alot of repugs are done with her and the trailer park crowd doesn't have alot of money.

they can crank up the meth lab and raise a bunch. In the old days they cranked up the stills for moonshine.

True and they can always sell the broken fridge in the yard.

does any subject result in more deleted posts than ann coulter? when i think about her i become pure hate, shaped like a man. there are not sufficient words to descibe my contempt for her. i wait for her detonation.

Coulter has certainly evoked my courser nature (for which I humbly apologize to all of you who may have been offended . . barring Ann, of course). Her porous logic provides such a thin veil for her venomous hatred, it's difficult to not react both viscerally and violently to the specter known as Ann.

I think that was very gentlemanly of you to make that comment.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

that Coulter is an affront to all sane women...but to call her a member of the opposite gender is an affront to all sane men as well as to all sane transgendered people....oh just the idea of her being a member of the same species makes my flesh crawl.

Ignore her. That is the supreme insult for someone like her.

Palin's HEAD is too big...her EGO is too big...it has been my opinion (fwiw) that she's more after the "TITLE" than the job. After all, the 'job' is dull, boring, and who the hell wants to be awakened at 3:00AM because some dipshit in another country decides to shoot a missile at us ...sheesh...('I have a damn photo-op in the morning, HOW DARE they.....')
Running for the presidency is just another 'pageant' thing for her. But the prize is awesome! TITLE: "President of the United States"!!!!
Coulter reeks.

... well, they wouldn't have picked ME if I wasn't qualified!

And, yes, Coulter is the intellectual equivalent of the corpse flower - rarely blooms, when it does, smells like rotting flesh, attracts flies.

Way to spin it there, (deleted) Coulter. I'm going to be sick.......
