I keep hearing that Sarah Palin is the future of the GOP. Fred Barnes is just the latest Republican to gush all over her.
But the fact is, the more people see of Sarah Palin, the less attractive she becomes. Polls are making that clear.
And the evidence is right out there on the stump. Watch the above clip from Missouri (or any of Palin's recent appearances).
Is it just me, or is Palin starting to sound like a drowned cat at the bottom of a well?
I know some of this is just my political bias kicking in, but it seems to me her voice has gone from merely grating to an outright assault on the human nervous system.
This might be the most insidious plot ever devised by Republicans: If they can't win, they'll spend the next four years just driving us insane.
And if they DO win, they'll spend the next four years driving us insane as well - only quicker.
There are rumors that security firms have hired thugs to keep the peace tomorrow. Remember that their alliance is with the neoconservatives. They have absolutely no authority over you. maybe Sarah Palin will be convicted of several crimes and misdemeanors when she returns to Alaska so that she and the Republican party will have to really think about the exposure she'd receive as a presidential candidate.
In addition, her husband's alliance with the secessionist party and her support of them is a real negative for her, as well as her religious affiliations.
I think she comes with too much baggage to have much hope for 2012, particularly against the Democrats. She's been visible to the lower 48 for only 60 days, and there's a lot more digging into her background that can be done.
And yes, her voice is AWFUL! I think she should enter some hog-calling contests if she wants to succeed with "real America".

When a friend of mine told me she loves Palin, I thought, "of course, I would be surprised if you don't." I know my friend, she is Palin's type, shallow, pretty, conceited, I have no doubt she can relate to Palin. I respect my friend's own taste and choice. I also feel pity for Palin. She could have had her normal life as a governor and mother, if not being offered that VP candidacy. Not accept? No option for her. Because she is "she", ambitious and opportunist, the worst is that she doesn't have wisdom of knowing "herself".
Her unfortunate exposure is not her fault, but that of McCain's unintelligent judgment, which, with no doubt is also one of the reasons that ended his road to the White House.

I'm somewhat torn, here, because many conservatives said the same of Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primaries. Liberals responded en masse to the comments about Clinton being "shrill," often suggesting that such comments were superficial at best, and sexist at worst.
It isn't sexist to hate the sound of Bush and Palin. Both are hateful, venomous, ignorant and utterly useless.

I for one was against Hillary because I see a person that wants power for the sake of power. There are plenty of politicians of both sexes that are in it for the people and the possibility of making this a better place to live. We had one here in Texas named Ann Richards now she was a great human.

Sarah Palin has consistently advocated abstinence-only education in schools, despite the fact that this philosophy has resulted with both Palin and her daughter conceiving out of wedlock. Clearly, abstinence-only has not worked for the Palin family, yet Sarah Palin wants to prescribe this in place of comprehensive sexual education for other young Americans.

It's reminiscent of the DOJ US attorney firing scandal. Can administrations fire US Attorneys? Yes. But they're acceptable ways such as just coming into office, and they can't be retalitory or political. Would the administration admit they were retailitory or political, no, they would say it was performance issues. If the documentation doesn't quite support that, it becomes a clerical snafu rather than violations of the law.

Her voice creates a physically unpleasant reaction in me as well. There is something in it that sounds so completely inauthentic, narcissistic, like a spoiled high school girl who just made the cheer leading team and can't stop telling all her friends.
It is strange, Cheney, as much as I despise the guy, doesn't have that effect on me. But Bush does, his voice also seems to me to be very inauthentic, like he's putting on a fake accent.

I am from Michigan and we are warned not to bring cameras or other recording devices to the voting areas. Also, they say that we are not allowed to wear any political shirts, buttons, etc. to the polls. Is this legal? Also, they said that every single police person will be on duty to monitor the polling areas in case of violence! That's new to me. Sounds like they'll have menacing police presence to scare some folks off. What gives????
The political junk in a polling place is illegal in many states and has been around for years. The large police presence depends on how it is presented IMO - if the cops stand there trying to look intimidating, doing their best to play Delta Force with a pot belly - it's probably not a good thing. If they're being Officer Friendly...
