frickin' believable! what a bunch of losers those bums are...
There is hate on both sides, there are loonies on both sides, not just one. I have posted videos below to prove that....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2GbW01LHbA&fe...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_aa-5jOGy4&fe...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG1uy_efHzU&fe...
The next ones are reports of defamation activity

http://www.palmettoscoop.com/2008/10/20/anti-...
http://www.ktka.com/news/2008/oct/13/woman_ha...
But our guy didn't encourage and incite them in their looniness.
Obama has had about 10 times the attendance at rallies as has McCain, and even Palin. So why haven't the wingnuts come up with any videos of people waiting in line yelling absurdities and obscenities at McCain demonstrators? Hmm.
I can understand some of the hate against Republicans.
So many people have been hurt, financially ruined, made homeless, and killed by the Republican policies and their war.
I don't approve of that behavior, but I can understand it.
I don't understand,... I don't understand why there isn't MORE outrage.
Two illegal wars. Stolen elections. Paid White House fake news stories. Prison camps. Torture. Habeus Corpus. Water Reid. Record breaking gas profits. Unemployment. Deficit. Foreclosures. Dead American soldiers.
Look at the way the country would respond to Nixon or Carter,... they didn't do a fraction of what's going on today, & yet the people were there to call them on the carpet. How is everyone letting these criminals get away free & clear?
Oh yes, thanks for the link to the PUMA gal! Man, that was a funny couple of weeks. So, what did they wind up with, about 60 real members, half of them Republicans? What a joke. So, what's the point of this link other than to show how pathetic PUMA was in reality.
One of your proofs is a FauxNoise clip...seems a bit...phony?
One was and artsy clip of a McCain photo unraveling or something.
And one was of a dude venting or something- to a camera all by his lonesome.
If that's the Dem version of hate speech...?
Sorry, can't get too upset about that.
Well, the pictures above show signs defamed etc.. so I showed links on the bottom which are the same or at least equal.
The whole point of my post was to counter that there are wing nuts and wacko leftist, but neither represent what the candidates want or advocate, unless you think both candidates want their supporters to defame signs etc...Just trying to bring some fair and balanced reporting to the blog :)
Oh P.S. the Fox News story was not a phony and one form of hate speech is not better or worse than another, hate speech is hate speech.
The last picture was of a skinhead who is now under arrest for plotting to kill Senator Obama. Do you really think that the pranks that Democrats are playing can compare to actual murder plots. And can you truly say that McCain/Palin's hate speech didn't have anything to do with this behavior?
Ah well there in is the problem, how do we know if McCain or Palin had anything to do with how people feel in their hearts. We really don't, it is all assumption. Hey, I agree both sides have people that are pretty far out there.
Only one side advocates violence as a routine part of their discourse, lil' j. Yours. So your attempt at "both sides do it" fails.
and to think there are people out there who are proud of this behavior in themselves and their ilk. It's pathetic really... the morals of a weasel.
Isn't it? Not!
And regardless of who wins, these people will still be around.
"Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob"
-= Franklin Delano Roosevelt =-
And I know a few people who's pictures will probably be on one of these round-ups someday.
Bunch of nitwits, can't even make the swastika symbol right!!!
This is a t-shirt that is sold at Texas A&M University. This is a phrase we use in yells regarding rival athletic teams. It isn't meant as a physical assault in that connotation and I hope it doesn't mean that in this one either. Regardless, I find these shirts disappointing. I was one of like 6 people at A&M who supported Dukakis in 1988. A&M is VERY conservative.
Context is important.
Yelling "beat the hell outa X" is going to be an incitement to violence for some people, no matter how it was "meant."
The use of the word "war" in American lingo bothers me; I think it's desensitizing and contributes to our general militant attitude. I'm in Auburn and "war eagle" is the school catch-phrase here. Kind of weirds me out, and I'm not the only one - "peace eagle" bumper stickers are quite common.
Saying "beat the hell out of" a TEAM is different than saying "beat the hell out of" an individual with a NAME.
[just think of someone wearing that t-shirt with your mother's name on it and I think you'll understand]
Then add the racial hisotry of Blacks being physically beaten when they have tried to vote, protest or claim their political rights and you have a whole other meaning to this.
nuff said
I agree that it is different when it is someone's name. I first saw one of these shirts at a bar before a few hours before the first game of the season and I was very put off by it. I would be ok with the shirt if under Obama it said "at the voting booth" but it does not.
As I said, I hope the intent of the message is the same as "Beat the Hell outta Texas Tech". But anyone who isn't an Aggie would likely see that as a desire to bring physical harm to Obama.
Can't limit this to McCain Palin. Certainly there is a contribution from Right Wing media fanning the flames. At least Dr. Clouthier's ad screams Ann Coulter version 2.0.
I think the Skinhead inclusion is a little out of place. To assume Skinheads wouldn't plot to kill Obama because McCain/Palin officially denounced the hate rhetoric at their rallies or didn't fuel the 'othering' of Obama sounds like a bit of a stretch. Would right wing radio show hosts restraining themselves even affect what their types do? But I could be wrong, I have no evidence either way.
... not. Yet another reminder of why we're currently the laughingstock of the world, and we didn't need more material after Sarah Palin.
most results turn up GOP and Republicans.
poor racist ignorant white trash: the heart of america
This is what Idaho is known for, biggots, red necks, separatists, survivalists and spuds.
Only one is worth anything.
I feel sorry for the good people of Idaho...to have to be surrounded by so much ignorance and hatred. Must be a terrible place to live.
We traveled in Wyoming recently..and sped through Idaho...and being around such people is a very sad feeling. They are actually proud of their stupidity.
Let's not proclaim all persons from a particular state or area to be stupid. This is no better than saying all persons of a particular race are stupid.
what about the polish?
got you, didnt i?
d'oh! stupid Polish. Mmmmm.... Polish Sausage. Stupid sexy Flanders!
Oh man, you just made me want to pick up some Portillo's for dinner tonight. Maxwell Street Polish... man, do I love living in Chicago.
Does the continental United States qualify as an "area"? I'm beginning to think this country is suffering from a serious case of mainstream stupid.
You're an idiot. Really. I'm sick of bullsh*t like yours. 'You sped through Idaho' - I don't think so, especially coming from Wyoming; it takes a good while to get across the state.
"Biggots [sic], red necks [sic], separatists, survivalists and spuds..." I'll tell you where I ran into more bigots, rednecks, jackasses, and idiots....Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia, North Carolina - shall I go on? People gave me shit for being from Idaho and yet couldn't see what they were (are) and how they contributed to the hatred being spewed. Plus the fact that they had never met anyone from Idaho, let alone been beyond the Mississippi River or the border of their own state or even their township.
And a bit of an FYI, the author of this post (Mr. Neiwert) is originally from Idaho. Idaho Falls is a Mormon conclave, and certainly has its share of idiots in the surrounding areas and county. "Surrounded by so much ignorance and hatred" - just like that demonstrated by the good folk of Pennsylvania lately.
Don't you know yet that you cannot judge the entirety of anything by a tiny portion? Jeezus.
The author of this post grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
For nine years I lived in Mesa AZ.
After the start of the Iraq occupation, I had the poor judgement to put a "Bush Lied" bumper sticker on my car.
We had to move two years later after the vandalism and other forms of harassment became too much.
I didn't. I grew up in Boise as well as a small farming community outside Boise some 15 miles. I've been to Idaho Falls many times. We know two of the four nonMormons there. /snark/
There was just a piece in the Boise Weekly about Rexburg (not far from Idaho Falls) that talked about the demographics and the push regarding Prop. 8 in CA.
It's not like the McCain/Palin campaign created them. The last two months or so of Senator McCain's campaign unfortunately has give some of the more extreme views a patina of legitimacy.
As many other's have commented on this site, the biggest single contribution to racist/extremist sentiments is likely lack of quality education ... something the current "education President" appears to have done almost nothing to rectify.
while this is true the fact that a major party vp, potential second to the commander and chief is spewing ignorant bile is a major gateway to allowing this pent up aggression that is generally restricted to ignorant assholes in the privacy of their own homes and kkk rallies into the main stream!
but it is telling who they vote for.
With all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over that hung-Palin mannequin, here's a story I stumbled upon that curiously didn't get picked up: An Episcopalian pastor and her mixed-race son came upon a Halloween display that included McCain signs and then a beheaded Barack Obama. She asked her St. Paul, MN, neighbors to remove it, but they wouldn't. "Tell your son it's a mask," they told her. Her biggest concern is for her young son, whose dark hair and dark skin (like Obama's) stand out in mainly white Minnesota.
that the neighbors are racist, ignorant idiots. And don't grow up to be like them.
NOBODY 2012
Look at the first picture. The Swastika is supposed to rotate to the left.
Nice Buddhist symbol you left on the Obama sign, there.
Although I don't think doing a sloppy swastika paint job is what makes these people stupid. ;)
"Get a brain, Morans!"
HA HA...if you could only post that pic....
Are you a piobr?
.....Uilleann
I wonder why those big, tough, gun-totin' nazis don't enlist and go to Iraq.
Shooting brown people is encouraged over there.
Oh, yeah; they shoot back over there.
I wonder what kind of "doctor" she is...
Sounds more like she's a dominatrix...
She's a chiropractor.
Hi everyone. I was really scared when I read that online ad by Dr. Melissa Clouthier, so I thought I'd try to find out what, exactly, she meant. Here's the email I just sent her, and I'll let you know if I hear back from her.
"I saw your ad online (attached to this email) and I was wondering if you mean "Beating liberalism to death with a shovel and a smile" in a joking way or if you mean it in a serious way. A bunch of my friends insist that you mean it seriously and now I'm worried that this is what many conservatives really believe.
I hope that the country I love hasn't become so divided that we are now advertising our hatred and fantasies about physically harming each other.
Can you please clarify your intentions?
Thanks."
The good Doctor will say of course she's joking. Why can't liberals get a sense of humor? Especially, physical humor?
That's what all right-wingers say.... it's not racist/homophobic/xenophobic/discriminatory/sexist/hateful when they say it - we just missed the joke, stupid us!
Tasteless... but she got her site advertised over here, didn't she? Now she can talk about all the "hate mail" she receives even if none of us ever send her anythings or see her image again.
I should have ignored this stuff like I usually do. It's been a damn long campaign season, though, and my fuse is short.
If you drive up and down Ward Parkway in Kansas City, especially around the most well-off sections, you'll see that all the large Obama signs are spray painted with the hammer and sickle of the Soviet Union, or "USSR" across the smaller ones. It sickens me. But it also makes me laugh, because the most communist thing a person can do is stifle political dissent, which is what these vandals did. Shows the pathetic intellectual dishonesty of those afraid of change.
Communism as an ideology does not call for the suppression of free speech. In fact, at least ideally, it fosters the exact opposite. Totalitarianism, on the other hand, de facto represses free expression. Mixing the two is not uncommon but it's inaccurate and clouds any further discussion.
"Secular humanism -- a fearless, realistic world view replete with doubt and scepticism that attempts to attain an unachievable state of equilibrium between and among the human qualities of reason, intuition, imagination, memory, ethics and common sense.
I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, but I just showed your response to my graduate advisor who lived in and experienced communist Russia and she says you have it wrong. Communism is total suppression of the individual, free speech and all. Not saying you're an idiot, but I believe her WAY over you.
Oh geeze,
I could handle these dweebs
And I ain't so young
Or so svelte anymore.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
You and me ysbaddaden - we could out-drink them into a coma..
Oh yeah and not no sissy beer either. Either:

I had a landlord who was old country Romanian.
Every time I went downstairs to pay the rent, they used to sit me down, put a plate of good food in front of me and ply me with slivovitz until the room spun.
Paying the rent wasn't so bad back then.
I always called slivovitz rocket fuel.
But strangely enough there is a hint of the taste of fruit
Much better than Napoleonic Brandy.
I never could drink more than 4 or 5 shots of Amantillado though, because of way TOO much flavor.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
It's Aberlour Abunadh scotch or Pendaryn welsh whisky.
I'm off to the jam session; I'll raise a glass to ye.
I can't afford quality Scotch.
Funny thing the military got me on hooch, and now the VA hospital wants me off.
They said not to go cold-turkey, because I'm likely to go into seizure. They didn't say anything about Wild Turkey though.
Geez, it's getting so un-PC to go on a drinking binge for 20 years or so.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Just had a client in conservative San Diego tell me he and his wife had 3 Obama signs stolen. Then he posted a large note beneath the most recent sign: "THIEVES -- EACH OBAMA SIGN DEFACED OR STOLEN FROM THIS YARD CAUSES US TO DONATE $50 TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN." Since then his signs have been untouched.
BRILLIANT! :-D
NOBODY 2012
I was just going to post about this--had my second one stolen this morning. It's been a wave, and I guess this is wave #2.
A neighbor posted a laminated photograph of an Obama sign on the outside of her fence with the message, "You can steal our signs, but you will never steal our votes."
It's irritating to have your property taken, but I'm trying to be philosophical: if they wanted it because they wanted it, they'll display it somehow, which is good. But if they wanted it because they hate or fear Obama, it shows how desperate they are, and that's better.
Either way, it translates into another donation to Obama for another sign...and I'll just keep buying them!
In the first pick, the swastika is backwards, assuming they meant to paint the Nazi kind.
In the last pick, the tattoo is correct, but please tell me that guy didn't put a high-power scope on a shotgun.
that it was some kind of automatic - which would still be pretty stupid.
He must think it looks good.
...one of those two young men at the bottom could pass for a cousin of mine who just got his voting right back after a felony arrest. He says he won't vote for Obama because of his abortion stance, but I guarantee you Bradley's opposition to an Obama presidency has little to do with fetuses.
had this sign up - 'Obama bin lying'. Took pictures, put it up on the little blog I vent on. Three days later it was down. I went into the shop and asked the proprietor why he had removed it, and he said the businesses on either side complained to the police. He wouldn't say which business and there's so many in that area, it's hard to say who it might have been.
These are "true believer" authoritarians.
They should be taken seriously. They have been a serious threat to democracy in this country for many years.
"Liberalism is common sense defined... conservatism is common sense denied!!!"
"Liberalism is morality defined...conservatism is morality denied!"
I saw this posted elsewhere, I corrected it for errors and to make them accurate and honest statements.
OR
If you prefer this adaptation:
"Democraticism is common sense defined... Republicanism is common sense denied!!!"
"Democraticism is morality defined...Republicanism is morality denied!"
Please feel free to spread these truths.
Throughout our history, the rightwing and reactionary segments of society always manage to reproduce and carry forward into the next generations.
That seems like such a shame.
Is that last guy wearing make up?
why would anyone put a scope on what appears to be an automatic weapon?
Weapons I don't know. Blue eye shadow circa 1988, I know.
He's gonna be real popular with his cellmates. Hope he brings lots of mayonaise.
It really sickens me to see such ignorance in Young people. Join us here in the 21st Century.
Collective IQ: 49.
Sarah's gotta lot to be proud of, eh?
I have said it before and I will say it to anyone that will listen.
To be a good republican you must first discard reason, accountability, honesty, integrity, and intelligence.
Then and only then can you be a good republican!
I'm always grateful when a conservative exposes themselves overtly as a complete a-hole who can't cope; & who is in possession of none of the morality they shreik that they're the sole owner of.
To paraphrase their own spew, My God hates the GOP too! He's punishing them right now.
Read a book ocasionally, disgraced neocons!
I have never seen a campaign where throwing the same kind of mud act so reserved and more to the Obama Campaign for their integrity for not stooping to McCain's level.
Still, it fills me with utter disgust at what the McCain people are fomenting with their rhetoric.
Sctobrien
http:
Those people are fucked in the head...
Can't stand losing so they resort to violent rhetoric.
JUST what this country needs...
Tell me...who is anti-American again?
They're wanting to start another civil war.
Kinda like the nameless Texan in The Simpson, when Bart accidentally mooned the flag he yelled, "He's disgracing the flag my grandpappy rebelled against!!!"
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
I COMPLETELY agree that the McCain/Palin campaign has unleashed a torrent of dangerous anger, and that neither candidates has shown any interest in stemming that rage. If Obama wins the election, there is a very good chance that there will be some extremely ugly altercations throughout this country.
However, I wanted to point out that anger and ignorance know no party lines, as demonstrated by this incident several weeks ago in Portland, Oregon:
http://www.katu.com/news/local/30847164.html
The yard sign is situated in a very left-leaning neighborhood. It is also larger than what is legally allowed -- the city has told the owner that he needs to take it down. Clearly he was attempting to provoke a reaction, and he got one. But the perpetrators didn't help their cause (I assume that they are Obama supporters) one bit with their actions.
Good reporting, as far as it goes, but the comment sections are.....well, a hoot....for lack of a more positive sentiment. It is like reading fresh dispatches from the Outbacks of the Great Unwashed.
