O'Hypocrite attacks NBC and GE for their Murdoch-like behavior
By David Neiwert Friday Apr 24, 2009 5:45am
Bill O'Reilly's hatred of NBC really has no limits. Including the most crass hypocrisy.
Last night on his Fox News show, O'Reilly featured some audio from Jesse Watters' invasion of the GE shareholders meeting -- which he described as a "stockholders' revolt."
Though there was some applause for Watters' histrionics (gee, now there's a surprise; right-wingers at a shareholders meeting), there was no actual "stockholders revolt." Just Jesse, doin' his shameless-partisan-attack-hack schtick.
But what was actually noteworthy about the segment was its overarching theme, as in the announced topic: "Will General Electric get paid for supporting President Obama?"
It concludes with this capper:
O'Reilly: Now think about this, ladies and gentlemen: A failing corporation, General Electric, might reap billions of dollars if the feds OK the carbon deal. By the way, GE is already getting taxpayer bailout money for its financial unit. So it's not a stretch to assume [GE CEO Jeffrey] Immelt would want to help President Obama as much as possible.
Now, we've asked Mr. Immelt a number of times to appear here on the Factor, but he will not, and that's why we sent Jesse out to see him.
This is obviously a major story -- when a powerful corporation which controls a major part of the American media may be using its power and the airwaves to influence politics in order to make money from government contracts. That kind of corruption would make Watergate look small. We hope it is not true.
This funny, coming from the lead personality at a network owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has essentially carved out his niche in America by helping to promote Republicans, who turned about and enabled him to make billions of dollars in this country by rewriting the longstanding rules of ownership. This was first noticed back in 1995, and continued for as long as Republicans held Congress and the White House.
I just love that chryon: "When a major company uses its power to influence politics and make money, it's a big story."
Really. An Bill O'Reilly has been around politics how long now?
And this wasn't a "big story" when Rupert Murdoch did it?

in television news program branding, star power, set design, graphics tools, face recognition, and acting skills far outrank journalistic quality, editing or standards.
All the talk about Soros "OWNING" and pulling the strings behind "liberal media" is simply diverting attention away from their own Evil Emperor Sith Lord Rupert Murdock
that Geroge Soros didn't exist, and that Soros was latin something like "fantasy boogeyman."
Nicely observed but it's not latin, it's the greek.
Other tranlations of "fantasy boogeyman":
Arabic: Osama bin Ladin
Spanish: Hugo Chavez
and the actual Latin: Birth Control
It's a conservative's best friend.
it just makes me effin sick when BOR and his ilk display their hypocrisy in such a blatant manner.
I don't let B'Ore bother me. I simply don't watch.
the other side (doesn't) think occasionally.
Check!
..sphincter, who cares?
We're never gonna' convince his followers to stop eating the falafel he serves; only when they come to their senses will they come around and I'm not holding my breath.
Have you ever fantasized about glass sewer pipes just to see where your meals end up occasionally?
But I know where my meals end up....in my neighbors bushes.
I would turn Fox expecting to hear some news and let the lack of it bother me to the point that channel surfing invariably occurred after one of his asnine remarks. For that I thank him because I stumbled onto an individual talking sense while surfing. I stopped and listened and have been a loyal watcher of Keith since then. It has been a long and great life without fox news. Thankfully we have those who monitor the jester so I don't have to!
Once again, thank you Bill O'Reilly and FOX for leading me to Keith, Rachel and now...Ed!
If these guys (Bill and Glenn) were ever going to be dropped by FOX, it would make MSNBC the most powerful network in media to pick up their contracts and put their shows on their network, and the funny thing is, Bill and Glenn could do a seamless, overnight 180 degree reversal if their paychecks depended on it (Bill could direct his fury at Rupert Murdoch and the evils of Newscorpse, he's love to tell the truth, just once, in front of a camera)
BillO and Beck would not HAVE to do a 180 to be on MSNBC. They employ a good many right-wing hacks. Just look at Morning Joe. Its full of them. Have you ever seen a segment by Nora ODonnell? You aren't paying enough attention. They're everywhere.
They have literally taken over most of the media. And MSNBC only rules the night, daytime is still the domain of infotainment and right wing buffoonery.
I rarely watch the mainstream media and havent for years. It's all a distraction. And that is no presumption.
I think even Nora's beginning to get tired of the conservatives hackery. She got into a full-blown argument recently with Darth Cheney's daughter over the ramifications of the U.S.'s torture policy. Which just goes to show you how demented Rove, Cheney, & Company really are when they begin to disgust their ardent admirers.
MSNBC with the exception of Joe Scarborough is the only news channel that seems to be adding up all the information that is being released from all these memos. All the other channels are just trying to politicize it.
If this little wimp Jesse Waters ever came up to me I'd risk going to jail by pummeling his scrawny ass. IF I ever held a position for Watters to want to jump me of course
I'd love to see that. Then the next night on O'Reilly, we'd see Jesse crying about getting beat up and/or arrested for his assholery :-)
can attack another news channel because the propaganda channel is not a news channel. Gawd, what's next?
controlling the masses through broadcast is reaching sinister new levels IMO.
an undercover fifth column member in preparation for when the War of the Networks break out. I will be fighting for the Food Channel.
I'll enlist!
and get to hang out with Rachel Ray, sign me up!
to be with Dog the Bounty Hunter in another Cable Army.
That tears it then!
I'm goin AWOL!
Bill O'reilly contributed to Sarah Palin's defense fund.
He should be made in the fairness of journalism to disclose this every time he talks about her.
NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. SO WHO IS THE HYPOCRITE NOW?
I'm sure this arrogant, angry, blotchy bastard lies during his dreams.
.
...was on Glenn Beck's radio show yesterday morning, and the two of them were ragging on how GE was censoring its stockholders and also not disclosing that GE had trillions (he said trillions several times, though that's obviously hooey) of dollars in contracts to make wind turbines. All part of FOX's anti-cap-and-trade effort too.
O'Reilly has a very short and selective memory- no surprise there! Wasn't just a week or so ago that Fox News Channel, a corporate empire, was promoting the political conservatives' Tea Bagging Tax Day rallies? In fact, didn't they spend weeks inciting the far rightwingnuts to arm themselves against socialism and seceed from the nation? Who does O'Reilly think he's kidding? What an ass!
Did he say Santelli got sent to a reeducation camp? Sheer lunacy.
of the highest sort. Roger Ailes has as much as admitted working to put GWB into office. MSNBC must really be biting into these folks profits pretty hard for these attacks to be getting so amped up.
Feeling the heat is making them a wee bit batty.
Is there anyway we could prosecute all these lying hipocrites for just breathing?
“We hope it is not true” [But we will report on it anyway.]
There is nothing professional whatsoever about BillO, or his sorry ass.
Bill O, Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh and others like them are either stupid, in denial, insane, or otherwise simply oblivious to facts.
How can BO say this stuff with a straight face? Have they completely forgotten what went on over the last eight years? It is mind boggling. They make shit up and attempt to rewrite history............yet they have an audience that eats this stuff up. Go figure?????
Something needs to be done about these asswipes. Who in their 'left' mind would go on The Factor?
...is responsible for warning us we are about to commit hypocracy? Either this function is not fully developed in conservatives, or it has atrophied.
Every word out of Billo's mouth is just going to make it more fun to taunt him when the castles built on sand fall to the ground and billo is relegated to doing infomercials on the Shopping Network. I hope he'll be on one of those live call-in shows so's I can call and ask if he has any loufas for sale.
Anyone on the left employing the tactics used by the right/f*cking-crazy, does not excuse its use.
Basically, if O'Bitchy does it, and we consider it reprehensible, then don't do it. The left/progressives are not excused for using such tactics/rhetoric by the fact that O'Bitchy has his freak on.
O'Lielly is always so ignorantly predictable, if it isn't screaming at someone telling the truth, fabricating everything, stalking women or an outright lying shrill for low rated Faux Noise, only for Reslugs.
I heard that O'really has landed a new spot hosting Fox's "Angry, Old, and Passé"
The only thing Watters showed is that the wingnuts act like spoiled 4th graders when they don't get what they want.
The only CAFE standards billo's into

And one that brings his m****r f*****g iced tea toot sweet!
. . . is that O'Reilly's audience averages over 60 years of age. Limbaugh's too.
That's what all this promotion of Teabagging and Militia Marches and GE-is-the-Evil-Empire and Obama-is-a-socialist/fascist/elitist is about. Fox needs to replace its old, dumb viewers with young, dumb viewers. Float another hysterical trial balloon, see which one works best.

Yeah, but how many are tuning in just to see if Bill-O's head explodes today or if the padded bus will come for Beck today.
Personally, I like to tune in on days when they are scrambling to defend the undefensible. (Most days) Sometimes I tune in to see how long it takes them to tell their first lie. (Generally less than 5 minutes unless Bill is doing one of his hard-hitting exposes on strippers for Christ or cheer-leaders forgetting their panties.)
Isn't former GE CEO Jack "me off", "ship all the jobs overseas" Welch on FOX saturday morning shows running his mouth about the economy and all other such garbage that he supposedly thinks he's an expert on? Also, I think last Saturday his wife was on one of the shows running her mouth about rotten unions, rotten socialists, and other such nonsense.
of course, the avg loofa boy viewer buys into this...because, despite living through it, they are too retarded to understand what the watergate scandal was about
and way to take a page out of michael moore's book...except that he was fighting for the little guy when he showed up at a share holders meeting...and loofa boy is fighting for his corporate masters
and yes...those tea parties were nothing more than klan rallies without the sheets
Uncle Joe, this is why you're one of my favorite posters on this site. I agree with you 100%.
The scumbag has it both ways. That is why sometimes you will hear him brag that he has defended Obama and bashed Bush. What the sob does is opening a segment bashing Obama then when his (usually) neocon guests continue, he pretends to defend Obama, or he first says something nice, and then slams him.
Have you also noticed that fewer and fewer liberals appear on FOX? Have you noticed how Hannity got slammed by his 3-person board, even Hanretty. O'Slimebag rarely has a liberal these days. Yesterday: Ingraham, Burlingame, Peterson, Jeanne Wolf, Breitbart, Trump followed by the stalker (Watters). In the middle was Leslie Stahl, and O'Reilly's treatment of her was a total disgrace. She should have known better than to appear on FOX. FAIR AND BALANCED - my ass.
I do not watch Faux or any tv except PBS.
I leave it up to C & L to report on those scumtoads.
Didn't FOX/Newscorp lose billions of dollars last quarter? Funny BillO never mentions that.
O'Reilly: "...Now, we've asked Mr. Immelt a number of times to appear here on the Factor, but he will not, and that's why we sent Jesse out to see him..."
I learned this when I was a kid: No means no. I also learned that if someone doesn't want to talk to or hang out with me, I don't pursue them anyway. That's stalking. And I love how BO sends his errand boy to do his dirty work. Classy. Talks tough but won't get his hands dirty.
Let's see if I can use BillO the Clown's logic in my life: I've asked this lady several times to go out with me, but she will not. And that's why I sent my friends out to see her...
Thanks BillO, you showed me that if you can't get your way, you act like a teenage stalker. Cheers.
Murdoch to have Congress work it all out so that the ownership rules are changed. And it must be nice having an ego maniac like the hypocritical BillO consumed by so much rage and hate for Olbermann that he's willing to try and take out a growing cable competitor for his boss.
FOX News' Ailes also had his pudgy little hands in GOP politics (as a media consultant) for years. Did his past close working relationship with Giuliani have anything to do with all the positive coverage his Presidential campaign got on FOX News? The Bush Administration could do practically no wrong in the eyes of the FOX News pundits....could the fact that Ailes is tight with the GOP have anything to do with that?
P.S. VP Bill Shine admitted that FOX News is going to be the voice of the opposition to the Democratic Obama administration. So much for fair and balanced.
Seriously...
'It would make watergate look small'.
Is one of the STUPIDEST things I've ever heard. Jesus CHRIST!
GE, which gets big contracts from the government, owns a media empire that is never critical of the government, doesn't raise a bit of concern with this group of commenters? Alert! Read the above again.
Many visitors to this site use words like "retards" and/or hope people can be charged for their political views, or label people as Klan members for expressing an opposing view. Alert! Read that again.
It would appear most commenters to this posting are discriminatory totalitarian dreamers. Alert!
