Guess Who's Back in the Hunt? (Hint: Her Initials are Darcy Burner)
Back in 2006, when Blue America was just a young PAC, one congressional candidate seemed to emerge from out of our own ranks, so conversant with the way the new technology had merged with progressive politics that she was, in many ways, the first Netroots candidate. It was Darcy Burner of Washington state, a brilliant former Microsoft executive who famously declared that she knew she had to step into the arena when she realized that she needed to leave a better world for her young son.
She lost a couple of heart breakers '06 and '08 and spent the last few years working in DC as executive director the Progressive Caucus Foundation. Now she's back home in Washington state and ... she's running again! As always, she wants to hear what you have to say and answer your questions directly.
So please join us on Saturday as we welcome our good friend Darcy back to her first Blue America chat of the election season at 11am PST/2pm EST. (And if you have a mind to welcome her with a campaign contribution, you can do so here.)

By now (hopefully) enough people have awakened to the evil done by the banks Ms Burner should win.
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
Our conservative population is about as dumb as the national average. When they successfully pushed through an initiative to cut car tab taxes in the 1990's, that left Eastern Washington and rural parts of the state with horrible roads (Spokane is just now getting desperately needed repairs to I-90) and in some areas no snow plows.
But guess who they blamed all that on: King County
So predictable.
I hope you are right that the climate has changed enough to see Burner elected!
I voted for her when she ran against Reichert years ago, and I'd vote for her again ... but she has a big defect -- she's so bland, and has no charisma and is too forgettable. I wish she had some kind of coach or something to spice up her image.
Bad girl makeover?
far left loon >.<
Don't see her winning.
If a dem lost in 2006 or 2008, they probably are unelectable.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
we should be trying to convince someone like State Rep. Deb Eddy to run for the seat. Darcy Burner is a good candidate, but she has no experience to justify voting for her (at least many see it that way). We need a candidate who already has a base of support and is a known quantity. Darcy does not have the accomplishments to run against Reichert.
I live in the 8th Congressional District, and Deb Eddy is my State Rep.
I so wanted her to win and being in Washington I am dam sure going to give her my backing.
Not many people remember her house burnt to the ground at the end of the last election and here she is, running again.
I want her to win so bad I can taste it.
She is very electable, she just needs to get vicious like her opponents.
Apparently that's what it takes in this day and age.
I might just have to grab some of my meager funds and send that lady some cash.
I seriously urge anyone who wants a real progressive voice to send that lady a donation, she is up against some of the worst Republican machine candidates in the entire state, again.
Citizens United works both ways folks, give her the cost of a cup of coffee so we can get some more Democrats in the works for us all.
The rantings of a left wing liberal.
