Thanks for nothing, Bill Maher, for planting the image of Palin as Carrie's Mom in my head. Click here for larger. (h/t Heather and BG)

Also recommended tonight: this online episode of Murphy Brown. Fourteen years ago and it was all there: Limbaugh, Gingrich, looking stuff up on "the Internet", the "Liberal Media Elite", all afloat in a wishful fantasy that somehow both sides were equally wrong and we could all work together if only the Left bent over a little further.

The power of conservatives rests with their funders who make and/or sell products. If you get enough people to boycott some of those funders, you can destroy conservative power.

See our boycott petition links at http://democratz.org

well, seems that the wingnuts cant take one of their own seeing the light

the entire wingnut blogosphere is going after little green footballs as a result of his shining the light on one bob mccain (the other mccain) and showing him for the racist pos that he truly is

now bob is a real piece of work

he and some other dick have been systematically attacking bloggers who dare take on sarah palin

god...i love the net....more fun than tv ever was

Sounds interesting. Would that be "Baghdad Bob"?

Jump over to Rawstory.

but you can go right to lgf and see the type of posts that have caused the wingnuts to have caniption fits

for years, they loved this guy...now they all say that he must be insane...its hilarious

what isnt, is what robert mccain has done to 3 other bloggers who dared take on palin

one has been accused of being a pedofile (no proof at all), another was openly threatened on bobs blog

now that fucker is sick

i am a visitor of the blogs he has attacked...all 3 are entertaining

the blog he basically forced to shut down due to his open threat went out of its way to moderate comments to keep crazies off the blog....she has been forced to hire an atty...and i hope the fucker gets arrested for making terrorist threats

btw, he is on the southern poverty center watch list

Speaking of "peofile," this morning, idiot Neal Boortz posted on his twitter account that sending Obama to speak on Wall Street is like sending a child molester to kindergarten to speak.

F*#%cking racist bastard. I know there are a lot of good people in the south. I have very good friends in Atlanta who are not racist. But Boortz broadcasts from Atlanta, and he spews this hatred at Obama. These hate mongers keep pushing the boundary of what is acceptable on radio and cable. I'm sick of it.

for Sarah... she almost looks like she cares!

just a thought or suggestion about how to
possibly expose/shame the health insurance
and pharmaceutical corporations.

someone with good media knowledge and equipment
should take the personal hardship cases that people
are sharing on how these two industries have harmed
them and loved ones and project this as a media spectacle on the
very outside corporate walls of each, much
like is done at neighborhood movies nights.
shown at lunch time on some of these corporations facades
in nyc should attract national attention.

They aren't shaming anyone. What about today's death of Norma Rae?

Or the President's mother? (Just in case you were wondering why the issue hits home for him.)

those are good ideas.
exposure like this is sure to draw attention.
too bad we don't have the capabilities like
in the movie BLADE RUNNER.

for a fun chuckle, add these guys. tell your friends.

Lost all if any respect I had for him when he pissed on the idea of the American dream. I mean Bill just because you have obtained it, reaped it's rewards then thrown it along the wayside does not mean you should discourage others. If I had believed his drivel like "Move to Europe! If you're born poor here you're pretty much fucked." I may have never made it to where I am today. Bill if by some chance you read this. My mother lived in a dirt floor house when she was a small girl and in one generation I own a successful business and my children and grandchildren do not have to do with out. In fact we do pretty well. Now if that is not at least in a small way "The American Dream" What is Mr. Maher?

Um

You do understand the meaning of the phrase "tongue in cheek", don't you?

He does not understand.

Congratulations on your success. For the vast majority of people in the world, Maher is correct. If you're born poor, you stay poor. The deck is decidedly stacked against the poor clawing their way out of poverty. It has nothing to do with hard work or desire, look at how many out there are working 2, 3 or even 4 jobs just to make ends meet. Usually, those ends don't quite meet though. Here in North America, one of the richest places in the world, there are millions of people who go to bed at night hungry. That's of course, those who have beds to go to.
It seems that we all look down upon those who have less than us and don't want them to succeed. When governments cut welfare or other funding for the neediest amongst us, there's very little protest. We look down on the "welfare Queens" who are milking the system for everything they can get. I'll grant that there are a small percentage who indeed do that. Most people would do anything possible to get off welfare if they could.
When you're poor, you're education is drastically worse than those who are better off. When education funds are reduced for any reason, the schools that take the worst hit are always the ones that can least afford it. Without that university diploma, one will very rarely ever even get the chance to try for a well paying job. It's McDonalds or 711 for them.

From personal experience. I believed the propaganda, that all it took in Amerika was hard work, dedication, honesty..........blahhhbla. I'm a doctor, and very good. My specialty is treating people with mus./skel. pain that is unremittent, constant, 'untreatable'............especially people who have been the rout with medical doctors. I carried my moral values into my practice, and helped people understand and avoid what was causing the problem. I didn't exploit them for their pain making them return for the classic ...........10 paid treatments for the rest of their lives. People who have received treatment from me are always happy to see me, and tell me of their experiences in staying well afterward, like it was a miracle. Not to worry, I'm happy, content, joyous some days, but still as poor as my parents were.

The GOP "moderates" get nervous seeing people associate their base with the birthers. Obama wags his finger at Wall Street, even though the traders are already geared to continue their old bag of tricks. Wells Fargo fires a partying exec, only because they got caught. Possibly as many as 100,000 people in Pakistan have been displaced by the Afghan offensive. Will Moore's next movie be about Obama? Watch out NASCAR: JBMW builds a fuel-efficient sports car. Those Metrolink fucks in Cali still aren't up-to-date on improvements. China has a problem with non-monopolistic free trade. I guess they've adapted the capitalist model quite well. The House Dems need to stop sitting on their hands and demand action from the Senate, if they don't want a repeat of 1994. The Ukraine doesn't care about gay parents. Meanwhile, Americans are still worried about the economy. An example of a "bi-partisan" Dem on slavery. Thanks to Hollywood Elsewhere, a movie about Charles Darwin is too hot for the U.S.A. Some German cargo ships just sail right through the Arctic Passage. America's deadliest jobs. R.I.P. founder of the Green Revolution. Afghan detainees can finally challenge their sentences. What does it say about the stability of our economic system, when a guy with an oxygen tank can rob a bank?

Funny, I thought at first you implied, 'O-bought-ma as an example of 'bi-partisan' Dim in slavery. That would also have been appropriate, as I see it.

of brave new heroes, "EDWARD KIMMEL." What a true american patriot.

By making it look like they were willing to get a prostitute to lie about her profession.

Notably, Faux News, is doing this. What those ACORN workers did was not right, but (hate to say this), they are probably poor and perhaps not that educated. I understand ACORN has hired a number of disadvantaged people.

Further, from what I have seen, I don't know if they actually did anything illegal, though I'm not a lawyer; they seem to have exercised poor judgment.

However, I don't think this implicates ACORN in any way, unless ACORN sent out instructions to their employees on how to handle such situations. The only way I see that it implicates them is that perhaps it shows they made some bad hires.

There's been some buzz around the internet that those two who actually made video of the ACORN workers may have broken the law because they did not notify the workers of the video taping. We'll see, but it's obvious that Cluster Faux is milking this for all it's worth.

is stupidity...for falling for what was an obvious hoax

acorn really needs to do a better job in hiring

and how did these two aholes really get fox's attention?

they made sure that the girl dressed like a hooker...and made sure to film her shaking that hot ass....which fox loves

funniest thing...get rid of acorn and there are still tons of other non profits that do the exact same things

lowering voter registrations by getting ACORN out of the picture.

The only way Pukes can win is by stifling Dem turnout, they don't have enough votes otherwise. They are a permanent minority party.

I say that teh Pukes get at least 10% of the Dem vote disenfranchised by various means every election.
That is no small number.

now i understand why some republicans/independent and teabaggers won't debate/talk about the need to reform health care. they have little to nothing in realistic debate/argument. the teabagger thread is full of nonsense from (r)/teabaggers. very weak tea no substance. the need for health care insurance cost reform is an economic necessity. the ROMANCE about libertarian idealism is useless hyperbole. health care and health care insurance is not based on absolute individualism. people without health care insurance that can't pay their medical bills affects everyone. this is a collective issue. this country is finding it very difficult to compete in the GLOBAL economy. we're losing people/companies/work to other countries. we need to get health care insurance cost under control. the private 'free market" is only concerned about profit no concern for this country,

Egg-zactly. They rarely do, in my experience.

60-70 thousand becomes 2 1/2 million only with teabaggers.

Thanks for the memories...

CHICAGO, July 27 (Reuters) - Obesity-related diseases account for nearly 10 percent of all U.S. medical spending or an estimated $147 billion a year, researchers said on Monday.

They said U.S. obesity rates rose 37 percent between 1998 and 2006, driving an 89 percent increase in spending on treatments for obesity-related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and other conditions.

Obese people spent an extra $1,429 per year or 42 percent more for medical care in 2006 than did normal weight people, with most of that spent on prescription drugs, the researchers said.

The study, published in the journal Health Affairs, was released at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Weight of the Nation conference in Washington, where the CDC issued 24 new recommendations on how communities can fight back.

"It is critical that we take effective steps to contain and reduce the enormous burden of obesity on our nation," CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden said in a statement.

For the study, Eric Finkelstein of the non-profit research institute RTI International and researchers at the CDC and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality analyzed national medical cost data from 1998 and 2006.

More than 26 percent of Americans are obese, which means they have a body mass index of 30 or higher. BMI is equal to weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. A person 5 feet 5 inches tall (165 cm) becomes obese at 180 pounds (82 kg).

Finkelstein's team found obesity accounts for 9.1 percent of all medical spending in the United States, up from 6.5 percent in 1998.

http://www.reuters.com/article/governmentFili...

health care conditions, health care and health care insurance affects everyone. there are libertarians that will say it's a person's personal liberty freedom to be obese. fine but it costs everyone.

Maybe we could begin a state monitoring service, targetting fat people, going to homes and restaurants. Then fat people could be advised when they have had enough. "I'm terribly sorry to interrupt, but I noticed you are obese, and that you have quite enough to eat at this sitting."

that's ridiculous. if possible maybe just maybe you could be more logical about why this might be an issue and covered by reuters. people run around speaking/talking about personal responsibility but some of them really don't exercise personal responsiblity. this is an example of cost being shifted to others. your little nonsense example is ridiculous.

But linking the problem to libertarians seems crazy to me.

You'll have to tell that to an overweight, libertarian acquaintance of mine whose biggest concern seems to be the nanny state that won't allow him to consume trans fats...no matter that the only place that does it is NYC, where he's never been and never plans on visiting.

hilarious!

your suggesting i'm speaking in absolutes. wrong. i'm making a point. health care is a collective issue not individualism issue. i'm not linking obesity to libertarians. forget you read it. i'm speaking about perceived personal freedoms/liberties and how they affect everyone.

I offered one, though terribly impolite. Do better. Look, many fat people live in shame and despair. Help them. "You are fat and you suck from us" isn't helping.

i'm not making a judgement toward people that are obese. my point is about personal responsibility and the people that sing that cheer for the libertarian philosophy. they also talk about their dislike for government and dependence. absolute individualism is difficult to obtain it sounds good in philosophy/idealism but the reality is the interconnectedness of people and how the cost of some peoples behaviors/conditions are shifted to others. please let it go. we're on a different thought process.

But it costs everyone.

in the long run it saves money. Yes they have higher med expenses. But they die much earlier.
http://www.plosmedicine.org/article/info:doi/...

like your smoking argument i disagree. there are too many variables/assumptions made. the bottom line is that obesity and obesity related conditions cost money a lot of money. if you smoke and have a condition not related/from smoking it's a fact that condition can often be prolonged/worsened by the fact that you smoke. i need more than one study for this argument.

obesity, it references a study by vanderbilt about health care and smoking. Something like the US save $.32 cents in healthcare per pack smoked.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,513196,00...

i still say these couple of studies/arbitrary models don't really provide a good idea of the net cost. SECOND hand smoke related conditions and conditions prolonged due to smoking very dificult to measure.

smoke can be hard to measure. I haven't seen a definitive study either way. But for the conditions prolonged they would figure into the average health care of a smoker. I don't believe either study focused on strictly smoking related problems, just health care overall for smokers. So the prolonged conditions would be included.

But for the obesity half that problem is solved, I've never heard of second hand fat. Yes over weight people cost more per year, but they do die earlier. And most obesity related conditions, are similar to age related ones heart problems, joint problems, etc. They just have them earlier due to the increased stress on their bodies.

So figure for them the same cost as a person of normal weight, minus 5-10 years of standard care and retirement payments. Or look at it like a house payments, a 15 yr loan or a 30 yr loan. The 15 your paying higher per month, but you pay a lot less than a 30 year.

I don't want my tax dollars going to support a military bloated with fatcat defense contracts to fight nonexistent threats. But guess what? Representative democracy. Nothing I can do about it. I still have to pay taxes.

If the country as a whole decides that, like roads, national defense or the FAA, we're going to have some kind of collective activity that we all share the expenses for and the benefits of. It's not socialism; it's just America.

Right-wingers love to tell Dems to shut up and do as they're told, but we see what happens when the shoe is on the other foot: they appear at rallies with guns, threaten to "Go Galt" and claim that Obama is destroying America. No, he isn't, you're just hypocrites who only respect authority when you consider that authority to be "one of you".

Hey guys, nothing to report about Democratic Party senators voting to strip ACORN of federal funding?

Really?

i realize ACORN is a preoccupation to some but to others there are more important issues.

Is that really your attitude when bringing up the subject in an open thread? "Who cares?"

Something is clearly wrong at ACORN, and you don't need to be affiliated with any particular political party to recognise that.

But for some reason I see Crooks & Liars chooses to see nothing. I wonder why that is?

we like to see facts.

... that the videos speak for themselves?

The Senate apparently did. 83 - 7.

are saying that their comments were dubbed in. Fox has a habit of cropping phrases and distorting the real message.

Comments were dubbed in?

Let me guess, the people in the videos who mouthes can be clearly matched to the audio were actually holograms too?

some people say. One of Fox's favorite phrases.

not that it matters

i want someone to show me how this proves that acorn is corrupt

they did not offer to take money to grease the wheels...they offered advice

they made no judgemet calls on what the girl stated was her chosen profession

i have dome work for porn stars and call girls...i dont care what someone does for a living

but watch the vids and really see why fox got so into this story

and if you dont think it has anything to do with hannah dressing like a fucking slut and shaking her ass...then you must think beck is a fucking genius

for your intellect for less than an 1 hour.

... here for a lot longer than one hour, my friend.

I've been reading this site for years, back when there was actually interesting content to find here, but I rarely venture into the comments because I find you all as ideologicially polarised as those that I may find on, say, Hot Air for instance.

you've been registered for less than 1 hour.

By the way, what is bile duct? A new name for asshole?

I've been registered for less than an hour because I have not felt the need to comment on Crooks & Liars since registration was required to post comments.

Where ya typing from?

Australia, where we have socialised single payer health care yet we are only ranked marginally ahead of the United States in terms of quality of health care.

how about % of GDP cost? how about polls showing whether or not people would get rid of their current health care system for another?

Please tell me for what reason US tax dollars have gone to ACORN, how many of those tax dollars have gone to ACORN- and, please, over what measure of time- and for what ACORN efforts does that organization not receive any Federal funding. You're on the clock. No search engines. You seem to be on top of this...or maybe not.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

you should report it.

It's against the laws in MD to be aware of a felony and not report it.

What'd they do?

Refuse medical care to a cancer victim?

Start a war based on lies?

Kill Habeas Corpus?

Grope a foreign official?

I know you like to deflect, especially considering your position here, but you'll find that I'm not supportive of any of the things you mentioned.

I'm also not supportive of ACORN receiving federal funds to aid those with a clearly expressed intent to break the law.

This kinda bullshit =

OH, LOOK! Gay people kissing and getting married!

isn't terribly important when two members of your family of origin have to move in with you and your wife when you're old and ready to retire.

Because they can't afford health care.

You've been here as a member for 47 minutes; thanks for telling me what I love to do!

BTW, does your mother still weep at your pathetic attempts to seduce her?

More deflection.

I am bringing up ACORN in an open thread and you want to talk about Health Care.

Why can't you just respond to the issues?

What's coming next.. Let me guess, my comments about ACORN are racially charged.

)O(

Because it is an open thread?

I look forward to your future trolls. I rate this one 4/10, you did get lots of answers from the lowkey trolling style.

Wow, you're a real sleuth.

Let me guess, Bush was "in on it!"

1/10

weak effort, obvious troll, lack of understanding of target, the 1 is for the guts to answer after getting called on trolling

These were individuals working for ACORN.

Do you have any proof that ACORN told these workers how to respond to such a situation? Yes, these workers did not do the right thing, but please show me how the organization ACORN instructed these workers how to aid those two actors.

By your logic, many corporations, organizations, and governmental bodies would be under indictment because many unknowingly have employed people who break the law.

Hell, by your logic, Faux News should be fined and perhaps put out of business....earlier this year, one of their producers was convicted on possessing child porn.

I understand that ACORN hires many disadvantaged, poor people. That is a noble thing to do. Unfortunately, it looks like they have hired some who aren't so noble themselves, but that happens in a lot of businesses. Further, those two who made the videos did this in other cities, where those ACORN people basically told them to go away.

It wasn't just one office.

But I'll take your argument into account the next time I read a Blackwater article.

Thanks for that.

I know it wasn't just one office. I think it was 3.

But I also think there were at least 3 or 4 offices that didn't take the bait.

About Blackwater, their CEO Erik Prince is under investigation for the crimes that have been committed. That is the truth.

At ACORN, it is individual employees who took the bait and have been fired.

Three that we know of so far.

After the first we were told it had been tried in other offices and failed. That turned out not to be true.

Furthermore, one of the offices where that turned out not to be true also happened to be the office of the spokeswoman who issued that statement.

I don't know if that is true that in other offices, those ACORN workers also took the bait. It is still too early to know proper facts.

And, a spokeswoman for one office is a lot lower on the rung than the CEO of Blackwater, now XE.

I also have to add that this situation those two dreamed up, the prostitute and the pimp, is such an unusual, strange situation. How would any organization know how to tell their employees to respond in any way, good or bad? Again, I ask, what proof do you have that management at ACORN told these people how to act?

there are people/certain demographic(s) that want dirt on ACORN to equate it with all democrats/(d) movement. there are people that want to make it bigger than it is. it's part of the perpetual politics. the endgame is to provide the (r) an identity at the expense of the dems./liberals.

Time for bed.

I'm tired of all of this teabuggery.

your good entries thanks here and the teabagger thread.

Are you as concerned about Premier Election Solutions (Diebold), ES&S and Sequoia Voting Systems as you are about Acorn?

Yes.

They, after all have been rigging election for some time now!

More deflection.

Try this on Ducky
http://www.blackboxvoting.org/

And yet more deflection.

Thanks for reminding me about Bev Harris. It has been a while since I last looked at her site. I remember that video she did with Howard Dean.

And you're still worried about Acorn? You desperately need therapy!

as you said earlier, why the hell would you care?

i am more concerned about the war in iraq, unemployment,recession,bailout(s),H1N1, war in afghanistan, foreclosures, health care insurance reform, iran, north korea,. ACORN doesn't seem to be as important to me as the mentioned topics/issues. ACORN needs to be looked at but it seems to be a political target for political dualism/gain. C&L will get to it. of course you can tune in to bill o'reilly for a ACORN update.

Really? You've got the power of the world's greatest research & presentation tool at your fingertips, and you don't link anything to show how "clear" it is?

You've got your head in the sand.

...don't know what the hell you're talking about.

You're just bopping between US political blogs, sampling a little from column A, a little from column B, and regurgitating it. You think you know what ACORN is all about, but you don't know close to half of the truth.

Guys, guys - TROLL ALERT. Do not feed!

is to feed them the truth!

...............they always kick Kucinich to the curb. Rahmie again. Dims always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Hooooohummmmm!!!Predictable, boring.

it is about damned time that we take a stand (or seat) against the prolific expansion of publicly funded toilets?
Public toilets are everywhere and they are destroying my rights to CONSTITUTE wherever I please.
When the 9-12 protestors gathered on the mall they were denied their rights of constitution and porta-public toilets were put up to force those who wish to get government out of their lives to use public funded facilities to ac-comode- ate their personal constitution.
How did we let things get so out of control? Try "going" to any public facility in this nation and not be confronted with the public option only. When Grover Norquist had his weekly briefings on Republican talking points in the White House with the Bush Administration, do you think that he was allowed to run out to the Rose Garden and exercise his constitution behind a tree? Hell no! He had the public option only forced upon his precious sensibilities. Why was KKKarl Rove never allowed to hang his pasty bulbulous cellulose cheeks out of the window of Air Force One and let fly? When did Antonin Scalia lose his rights to take a dump on the steps of the Supreme Court?.......oh wait, never mind.
You have lost your ability to exercise free constitution and it has been replaced by public option only.
How did things go so wrong in the nation that I love so much. Where are the freedom fighters? Why has Fox News ignored this affront on our constitution? Glen Beck should be all over this like stink on.....oh never mind.
Excuse me while I drink my prune juice and vodka....I need to clear my mind.
Later

a constitutional right.

I was just about ready to shut down my PC and go to bed when your post caught my eye.

Cracks me up! I like stories about dumps and people "constituting" wherever they want to!

I'll go to bed tonight a happy man, after reading about too much teabuggery today but closing the day with your post!

I love the smell of excreted body fluids in the morning.......it reminds me of........freedom!
Some day this affront will end.

I wish my meds were tuned so that my mind worked with such wit...

but my inspiration comes from the 9-12 teabaggers. When Mr. Kimmell walked through the detritus of humanity it was the chant of"no public option" that inspired me.
Anyone who exclaims "no public option, no public option", as a protest chant have to count themselves among the stupidest and most obtuse people on the face of the earth.
I then watched the Max Blumenthal piece and I swear that I saw an older lady wearing a prison outfit with the word POOP written on the front......and the rest as they say was nothing more than a natural movement.

That's called a "Pile Driver"

http://www.ctj.org/pdf/bushtaxcutsvshealthcar...

BUSH tax cuts will cost $2.48 TRillion over the 10 years and $648 billion dollars in interest. this is probably more when you consider inflation. the (r) that shoved this down our throats but don't want to give us health care reform. over 50% of the cuts went to 5% of the population.

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

remember how the right was attacking left wing bloggers for starting the rumors about palins faux pregnancy...well here am proof that those rumors started in alaska proper...by reg alaskans

http://www.reddit.com/comments/6f3nq/coverup_...

It seems to me that we really have no choice but to get even more far-left and shrill and extremist on these right-wing mother****ers.

They scream and cry and whine and bluster and demand that the Democratically-controlled Congress censure us for accusing Republicans of being Republicans? Well, I say we double down.

We liberals have been polite and bipartisan, while these jerks are shouting "LIE!" and accusing us of wanting to kill their grandmas -- meanwhile, the insurance corporations they defend really *are* killing their grandmas...

The time for bending over is over. I say WE start pushing the Overton Window! If a right-winger accuses you of socialism, double down and say "That's right, and as soon as socialism is in place, we're going to nationalize your business specifically, and sell off all the assets and give out all the money to black people to fund abortions and pay for gay wedding ceremonies. And we'll make you pay for the yard sale expenses out of your taxes! And you'll thank us for it, because you'll have been long since re-educated!"

Well, maybe that's not a good example. Maybe it would be something more like they do, where you caricature their own position and force them to walk it back, like

"Oh, you're right, we shouldn't let the government handle anything, because of the risks that the government would be corrupt, or that their motivations list might not have our best interests at the top of it... we should instead let gigantic corporations run by greedy selfish people handle our healthcare, because if there's two things we know about corporations, it's that they're never corrupt, and they exist only to provide good things for all Americans! Right? We can trust corporations to be ethical and charitable, right? I mean, corporations provide a higher standard of living for everyone intentionally, right? That's what their purpose is, isn't it? Helping everybody? That must be why you have such confidence in corporations solving all our problems, right?"

Our job is technically much easier, because we can mock the other side with the facts instead of with lies about their motivations.

Still, there's nothing wrong with pushing the envelope at this point and forcing right-wingers to explain where THEY draw the line.

That's the key. The right-wingers are always throwing stereotypes in our faces and demanding that we disavow them. I know it sounds crazy, but surely even the average right-winger does have a line, and pushing them over that line and forcing them to step sheepishly back over it might do some good. Maybe.

)O(

Is it okay to say that?

Republicans are assholes.

I think we should start saying this all the time. Let's push the Van Jones Window to the left. I want it to be a boring, everyday thing culturally for people to say "Republicans are assholes". If Republicans can push the "liberals = bad" meme for decades, we should be able to do the same.

One year on, Wall Street hasn't changed: Michael Moore - http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/...
"It's an economic system that doesn't work. It's not fair, it's not democratic, it's not just and it's got to go." – Michael Moore
Democratic Socialist countries in Europe and throughout the world are thriving and we are not...unless in the 'we' you mean only the top 1%ers out there (you know...where right wingnuts go to dream)...its time to grow up, join the 21st century and realize that this is one world, and no one person can rule it...no matter how hard they try...

Toronto Film Festival: Michael Moore's Capitalism Will Infuriate Wingnuts Because It's Accurate. - http://www.laprogressive.com/2009/09/14/toron...
Of course it will, con-servatives never talk about the issues, they just come up with hocus pocus magic beans so liberals waste time debunking the fairytales and then don't have enough time to talk about reality...its an 'ingenious' method these con-servatives have taken from 5 year olds and applied it to a world that needs adult conversations for adult problems...its a way to keep the status quo from being challenged effectively...

MUST READ...(short & sweet!) EPIC FAIL: What would happen if you declared there be a 'million man march on DC' for 'freedom' and only 6% (7% if being generous) showed up? Just ask Glenn 'Happy Feet' Beck & the right wingnut noise machine: Reality still has a liberal bias and Matt Kibbe has a unit problem - http://politicalirony.com/2009/09/14/reality-...
Conservatives lost no time trumpeting the huge crowds they attracted for the “tea party” protest on 12 September. While most estimates were in the “thousands” or “tens of thousands”, conservatives were claiming as many as 2 million protestors, based on a photo (shown at right) published by the conservative “Say Anything” blog.
There’s only one problem. The photo is at least 10 years old. It doesn’t include the “National Museum of the American Indian”, which opened in 2004. Closer inspection also shows construction cranes on the left side of the Natural History Museum, which were there during the 1990s when the IMAX theater was built.
Not only that, but reports of the actual protest on 12 September said that the protestors were mainly in the streets, not on the mall (as in the photo).
So, I’m going to have to agree with the blogger who claimed bias. It seems that the more conservative someone is, the more likely they were to report grossly inflated numbers.
So the only 'adult' response to the right wingnutters & their right wingnut noise machine is: YOU LIE!!!!!!!!

"House Democratic leaders will move ahead with a "resolution of disapproval" against Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) on Tuesday afternoon, following through on their threat to sanction the conservative lawmaker for heckling President Obama last week." BuzzFlash Totally Approves of the "Disapproval" Vote! In Fact, We are Thrilled.

Wilson and his likely 2010 Democratic opponent, Rob Miller, have raked in donations since the incident.
Miller has raised more than $1.5 million, more than twice what he spent in his 2008 challenge to Wilson, according to campaign officials. Wilson was raising money at a similar pace, taking in more than $700,000 as of Friday.
Get ready for the imminent 'republicans wouldn't do that' BS and the 'protect the 1st amendment' BS from the con-servative right wingnut noise machine....its against the rules of joint session & over 200 years of ethical principle & decorum...

Why Capitalism Fails: The Man Who Saw The Meltdown Coming Had Another Troubling Insight: It Will Happen Again - http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/artic...
Since the global financial system started unraveling in dramatic fashion two years ago, distinguished economists have suffered a crisis of their own. Ivy League professors who had trumpeted the dawn of a new era of stability have scrambled to explain how, exactly, the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression had ambushed their entire profession.
Amid the hand-wringing and the self-flagellation, a few more cerebral commentators started to speak about the arrival of a "Minsky moment," and a growing number of insiders began to warn of a coming "Minsky meltdown."

Treasury: US economy needs indefinite life support - http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/09/14/econom...
The US economy is recovering from the shock of last year’s banking collapse, but could continue to need financial assistance for an indefinite period into the future, the Treasury Department stated in a report released Monday. The report (PDF), entitled “The Next Phase of Government Financial Stabilization and Rehabilitation Policies,” states that “although we are rolling back emergency support programs that are no longer needed, significant parts of the financial system remain impaired.
Unanticipated events could intensify pressure on the financial system. In this context, it is prudent to maintain capacity to address unforeseen developments.

In the Senate there is good news and bad news on the Healthcare Bill being crafted by insurance industry puppet Max Baucus. The good news is that work continues. Unfortunately, the bad news is that work continues too. Having already sold out our chances for real reform, Baucus is keeping the ball rolling on rewarding his insurance contributors with you guessed it, more Corporate Welfare.

British rock group Duran Duran and heavy metal band Scorpions are among 55 world celebrities who have joined in recording a song to draw attention to the global warming crisis, organizers said Monday.
The song is part of a mass media campaign on the threats of climate change organized by the Geneva-based Global Humanitarian Forum, headed by former U.N. secretary general Kofi Annan.
The song entitled “Beds’r Burning,” which was originally recorded by the Australian group Midnight Oil in the 1980s, will be available for download, for free, following a public launch in Paris on Oct. 1.
