I have an American that died for CNN's Alex Castellanos
CNN's conservative pundit named Alex Castellanos tried his best to undermine Alan Grayson's charge that republicans have a non existent health care plan which is hurting America. He's as slimy as they get since he's an old ad man and he made me cringe when he said this to Rep. Alan Grayson.
Castellanos: I'm a republican congressman and I have a question. Which particular Americans do you think I'd like to die? Can you name some?
Well I have a name for you..
Friends say the Miami University graduate who died this week after reportedly suffering from swine flu delayed getting medical treatment because she did not have health insurance.
News of Kimberly Young’s death Wednesday, Sept. 23, came as a shock to those who knew the vibrant 22-year-old who was working at least two jobs in Oxford after graduating with a double major in December 2008.
Young became ill about two weeks ago, but didn’t seek care initially because she didn’t have health insurance and was worried about the cost, according to Brent Mowery, her friend and former roommate.
Mowery said Young eventually went to an urgent care facility in Hamilton where she was given pain medication and then sent home.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Young’s condition suddenly worsened and her roommate drove her to McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, where she was flown in critical condition to University Hospital in Cincinnati.
There are thousands more just like Kimberly. Castellanos should be ashamed to even go there, but he's a conservative pundit and he can say anything.
I think the blogosphere appreciates a liberal with guts. Alan Grayson needs our support so he can keep fighting for the Kimberly's of America.

On the Sunday shows this morning, it was repeated once again as "common knowledge" that "the majority of Americans oppose government involvement in healthcare reform." :(
I always have trouble when they claim "common knowledge".
* There are two types of Republicans: millionaires and suckers.
"Mugsy's Rap Sheet": Recording history for those who seek to rewrite it.
It's only common knowledge to the corporatist media.
*
That's one of their throwaway lines like, real Americans, or, some people say. They are dishonest clowns.
I like this guy.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
I think it's hilarious that he's out there quoting a famous re=Thug line (Agnew) back at them! I'll bet that had them spinning for a day or two.
*
the phrase 'Nattering Nabobs of Negativism' was coined by the late William Safire.
Maybe - but Spiro Agnew used it when he was in office.
*
"William Safire penned the quote for Spiro Agnew." That makes the quote Spiro Agnew's according to custom.
Like Peggy Noonan penning "a thousand points of light" for HW Bush. It's his quote.
But I'm happy to know its origins.
*
My point is, Spiro Agnew wasn't intelligent enough to write such a good zinger.
According to Grayson in one of his interviews (Matthews I think). . .
Re=Thugs have now made him their NUMBER ONE TARGET
. . . in the next election. He's going to need out help.
*
Back to Nicole’s insightful post earlier about the media stacked tug-of-war...
Kudos to Grayson. It’s nice to see someone in the line-up worth more than his own weight.
there's also the young college graduate lady in Bohner's district.
Some stuff you can't make up!
to his campaign but not because I think he needs it. The guy is one of the wealthiest members of Congress. No, I sent money because it's how we show our we like what we see or hear from Dem politcians.
And NO, he doesn't need it, but the $$ and my phone call to his office lets him know we are behind him. Very proud to state that he is our guy here in Orlando. And we are very, very proud of the new guy on the block. Finally, a Dem with guts. HOOOOORAY !!!!
shewolf884
I called too - I told them I wanted to congratulate Congressman Grayson on exposing the re=Thug's Grim Reaper Agenda.

he's not my rep. If you've got a few bucks, donate.

Nattering nanboobs? What is he, three? Being a Liberal, even I cannot stand this Grayson pig.
I understand. :)
Study the symptoms not the virus...
This is a Spiro Agnew Quote that he's using. I think THAT is hilarious and it's - not even for a minute - accidental.
He's got the re=Thugs completely riled up and freaked out. I consider this a good thing.
NOT ONLY THAT -- But FOR THE FIRST TIME - the debate is about the dead people.

so all the tiny faux xtian moronites in the (R) party know they can't kick his ass.
Some stuff you can't make up!
...laughing out loud: "tiny faux xtians" is just so dang cute! Like those angry little people near the donut shop in that David Lynch movie ... Mulholland Drive? Or maybe it was just a dream...
That is what I find so hilarious, the bullies found someone who has about zero interesting in reacting with fear to their intimidation tactics.
How can a white Republican be an Uncle Tom? Apply black face.
Is it the language that he uses? Or the fact that he hits the nail square on the head?
As for the language, he speaks to them in a language they understand.
He gave them a taste of their own medicine. And they Gagged on it.
Then they completely flip out that someone had the nerve to speak to them like that. The republicans would never say anything like that, would they?
What is your conceptual, continuity?
Using grade school playground insults are not the way to make a point. If you want to say something, great. Just be responsible, professional and ADULT. This moron is neither.
When your dealing with liars, they should be called out.
Hey, I'd like to see this discourse raised. Absolutely.
But you haven't made any remarks about Beck, O'Rielly, Savage, or anyone from the right. Tell us how you feel about Beck and his calling the President a racist?
Or Limbaugh calling the Prez a fascist?
Or about the Congress critters from the right saying that the Prez will kill grandma with a "Death Panel"
I'm sure you would object to those as well.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
I'm not defending anyone from either side when they make asenine comments. I'm just saying that making those kinds of comments do not help anyone. Have an open minded discussion with a high level of civility or keep it zipped. This goes for both Liberals and Conservatives.
.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
a couple of days ago, but I see you've only been here 8 hours. My mistake.

We'll ban later if it continues,,,,,
Haven't you seen the townhall events?
Is that the level of civility you are talking about? Did you see some peple bring weapons in? The birthers? Is that civility? You're full of it.
the media won't even put a mike in front of most dems, they are so obviously publicly weak.
Some stuff you can't make up!
Not just liars sociopathic liars. They respond to nothing but fire.
Playground insults trouble your delicate sensibilities, yet you call Grayson a pig and a moron? I don't know if anyone here actually buys the grandstanding and fakery on display in your ratf*cking posts, but I find it laughable.
Thanks for your concern. Now piss off.
and go home. thanx for playing.
Some stuff you can't make up!
And so it starts.
I never did like Ninja legends. They were essentially assassins for hire, with no loyalty to any but themselves. While the Samurai practiced honor, they practiced sneaking around at night and slitting throats while people slept. I guess they were well paid. Most say they were pretty good at their jobs. That could be mostly because they were so feared though.
Drones are ninjas bro.
He's quoting Spiro Agnew. Did you now know that? That's one of his most famous quotes.

Odd you're upset about "nattering nabobs" yet call Grayson a pig.
"Somebody came along and said 'liberal' means 'soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on Communism, soft on defense, and we're gonna tax you back to the Stone Age because people shouldn't have to go to work if they don't want to.' And instead of saying, 'Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-education, anti-choice, pro-gun, Leave it to Beaver trip back to the '50s,' we cowered in the corner and said, 'Please don't hurt me.'" - Bruno Gianelli
listened to this 3 times the last couple of days. I wanna listen to again tomorrow.
It's inspirational and I'll never get tired of watching it.
Alan Grayson is an American hero.
and when I do I'm going to ask him if he can figure out exactly what The Public Option is.
Then, if he can, I'd like him to come here to Crooksandliars and 'splain it all to us.
"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
I understand your frustration Abby. I'd like to precisely know what this PO is too. But right now, they're still playing volleyball with it. The results of this will weigh greatly on the next midterm election.
When I find out more I'll let you know. But as it is right now. You're right. No one can answer that question definitively.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
Unfortunately (and I believe this is pre-meditated on the part of the Democrats), I fear we will only find out the DETAILS within hours of the votes. Then it will be too late.
Obama needs a major legislative (and bi-partisan) "win" prior to the mid-terms in order to save the Democratic seats in Congress (as if it's made any difference...considering all the Blue Dogs etc.).
By the time he's up for re-election he HAS to have something to blow his horn about. Sadly the chickens of the health care reform legislation, including what ever it is The Public Option turns out to be, won't come home to roost until after the election.
That's when all the suckers will start looking for the 800 number to call so they can dump their high priced private insurance and it's blood sucking owners and sign up for The Public Option.
My fear is that we will all be told, "Sorry. You don't qualify. Good-bye."
By then Obama will be in for another four years.
I think we deserve to know the TRUTH, and ALL OF THE TRUTH about The Public Option far ahead of the time for the vote.
Rep. Olver is having a town hall meeting on health care this Friday in North Adams at The Baptist Church, 131 Main Street from 10 a.m to noon.
Anyone living in the Western Massachusetts area who is able to attend this meeting, PLEASE come.

I agree that Obama won't be able to get anything else done if he doesn't get health care right. I don't agree that it has to be bipartisan.

Let me know when he has a meeting at the nearest mosque or synagogue... WTF, on second thought forget it. :-/
There must not be any public school auditoriums in the area? Maybe he should compromise and hold it at the "MASSACHUSETTS COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS"! Hey, at least it's located at → 375 Church Street, North Adams, MA 01247. :P

Study the symptoms not the virus...
I think it's only fair that the American public understand the nuts and bolts details of "The Public Option" PRIOR TO THE VOTE.
Believe me, there are enough members of the Progressive Caucus who know where this is headed.
Perhaps John could invite Dennis Kucinich here to explain the guts of "The Public Option"?
I have a bad feeling that once 2013 rolls around Americans are going to be under the false assumption that they can simply dial a magic 800 number, dump their expensive private insurance coverage and sign up for The Public Option. The Public Option is NOT Medicare for All.
My understanding is that there will only be perhaps 5 million Americans out of all the 50 million who are currently uninsured who will even QUALIFY for The Public Option.
We need some hard, straight answers here and soon.
(And please, ysbaddaden...don't post some YouTube regarding my "hard and straight" comment....thank you.) Ha.

They will screw us because they can. Too many people are happy to leave it up to them and assume it will be something they want.
But they haven't felt this kind of pressure in a long time. We have a slim chance of making it a halfway decent bill. But PO was always a sucky choice so it can't ever be a good bill.

1 American hero against 4 corporate toadies.
Amen, sixandseveneights, Amen.
Grayson says that Republicans are opposing any health care reform and proposing no plan of their own (absolutely, unquestionably true) and Republicans and their media water carriers are indignant and call him a nutjob. According to the implication of this toady panel including the theoretical spokesman for the Democratic position, Carville, his remarks are over the top, or name calling, or starting a "food fight," and by using the term "Neadnerthal" he is accusing the Republican leadership, Cantor and Bohner, of being Neanderthals (heaven forbid), thereby impeding any meaningful discussion with Republicans. Yeah, right. Poor babies, they are such sensitive souls and have every right to pout and block health care reform if they get their feelings hurt. This panel discussion illustrates perfectly why I can't stand watching the 24/7 punditry of cable TV anymore. It's an alternate reality.
So, he's violating the understood media etiquette that Repbublicans can say anything about Democrats no matter how insulting and no matter how outrageously false and it's OK, but calling Republicans on voting solidly as a block against everything Democrats propose and refusing to have any meaninful discussion, he's over the top?
The panel seemed to think it was a close call, though, whether Steele was justified in calling Thomas Friendman a nutjob.
Frankly, there's not going to be any meaningful discussion until Republicans are called for their willful obstructionism and unfailingly putting party over the common good.
Speak it brother! Spot on.
You can go to Facebook and join the "I heart Grayson" group - just do a search.

In the richest country in the world, this is not right. All those arrogant clowns the state that, "people should be independent and take care of themselves," were helped by someone, somewhere along the way.
I wish all the people that want insurance company profit to come before lives could have a serious problem that would bankrupt them!
Then and only then will you get sense from these knuckle draggers!
republicanism is a mental illness.
Has Gloria Borger come out yet as a Republican pundit or are we all just supposed to pretend that she's a neutral lines person??
As far as I know, she has always been a big Rove fan.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all
Wondering the same thing djonan. Holy crapatoly ,you've insulted republicans, (borger) All republicans!
I've sat here for years being called treasonous, america hater, terrorist sympathizer, just to name a few. I'm not to worried about the right wings insult sensibilities. Way to late for THEM to be insulted by most anything by now. They can stick it.
It is America's responsibility to help Americans, it is every American's responsibility to help her/his fellow American. That's not socialism, that's just decency. Have half of the political populous forgotten about decency??! I like this guy, I'm sending him bucks. Finally, a Democrat with a spine, and from Florida? All others should be hanging their heads in shame. President Obama, you tried the high road now, let's just use the road.
Actually I know the right wing like the back of my hand and when Grayson said "we need to solve peoples problems" any rightie watching that cringed. They fundamentally think that is the wrong way to think. Doing that makes people weak and if they need help then they weren't really worthy anyway....Over there on their planet.
Why is it that the news stooges question the claim that a political party wants people to die when it's a Republican being accused, but when it's a Democratic President none of these bozos asked "do you really believe Obama wants to have panels to kill grandma?" - not one of these boobs. They should all be ashamed of themselves...oh, I keep forgetting they have no soul so they can have no conscience and there for have no shame.
that they want health care reform but they want the government to stay out of health care. Does this include senators and congressmen staying out of it by not taking lobbyist money to represent the lobbyists over the voters in health care issues?
encourage people to send in the names of people who died as a result of no health insurance coverage. 14,000 a year.
Lack of health insurance is associated with
as many as 44789 deaths per year in the
United States, more than those caused by
kidney disease (n=42868).

This is kind of late but I think worthy of mention. I had an immediate (and I actually do mean immediate) reaction to the Castellanos ploy. I thought:
"No, I can't name you particular people because if I could, if I could present you with real people with real faces, real names, real voices, you wouldn't want them to die. It's precisely because those people can be faceless, just 'out there' somewhere, existing to you only as statistics, as numbers on some actuarial sheet, that this can go on."
I thought a bit later of the proposal made some years ago that the codes to launch nuclear weapons be implanted in the chest of a Secret Service agent so that if the president wanted to order a launch, he/she would first have to kill the agent to get at the codes. It was thought an outrageous idea on the grounds that the president would be unwilling to do it - even though what was desired was to start a nuclear war that would slaughter hundreds of millions.
The point, of course, is that the agent is a real, living, breathing, identifiable person who by virtue of that is "realer" than the faceless masses about to be incinerated.
I suspect that a difference between the right and the left is the ability to reify abstractions: To the right, the people who die from lack of health care aren't truly real, they're just stories or a number - while to us, that 44,000 who die every year is 44,000 very real human being whose lives have been unnecessarily cut short.
It is great to see a Dem. stand up to these Anti American Racist Nazi Scum. Notice how the ASSHOLE stated the talking point over and over you can cross state lines you can purchase if you want to notice how this ding dong piece of SH*T doesn't have a clue, they he has that Brainless Twit chime in asking dumb ass question, funny how fast they go Defense when they have a formidable Thinking hold your feet to the Fire Responsible Adversary.
Anyway of getting this guy into the Speaker of the House slot, dump Cave-In Pelosi (I know he is a junior)
