Lindsey Graham gets teabagged by climate change deniers at Town Hall: "You're a Traitor"
This post should have gone up the other day, but I accidentally deleted it. Anyway, many Republicans in Congress think that the teabaggers are just your average extreme wingnut who has been radicalized by FOX, but still loves them their conservatives.
Well, Lindsey Graham got a taste of what has been going on far more times than the media will ever mention. Part of the teabagger base has no love for the warmongering Bushies either. They are too ignorant to apply the same rules for Beck and Hannity because they need leaders to focus their hatred for them, but Lindsey does not have such a luxury. They want the country to be made up of militia-style right wingers that are heavily armed and want no part of the black president.
Right-wing activists across the nation are enraged by Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) decision to work with Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) to craft comprehensive climate and clean energy legislation. In an op-ed published in Sunday’s New York Times, Graham and Kerry discussed their agreement on a framework for mandatory global warming pollution reductions linked to government support for the nuclear, coal, and natural gas industries. The Natural Resource Defense Council’s Dan Lashof embraced the announcement as a “game changer.” Bill Scher noted that Graham has “crossed the climate Rubicon,” abandoning denialist conservative activists by recognizing the threat of global warming and working with Democrats.
--
Graham held a town hall meeting in Greenville, South Carolina in which local Tea Party activists accused him of “going to bed with John Kerry” and making a “pact with the devil,” accusations which generated tremendous applause by the assembled crowd. This unhinged response is reflected in the conservative blogosphere, where Graham has been called a “fake Republican,” “RINO” (Republican in name only), a “traitor,” “disgrace,” “asshat,” “democrat in drag,” and a “wussypants, girly-man, half-a-sissy”
You can expect this behavior for a long time. If Dick Armey were still part of the Republican congress, he too would be getting the same treatment if he tried to help solve some problems facing America today with any Democratic politician. Instead, he's out there helping organize these characters -- at the behest of the insurance companies. Guys like Graham get to deal with the beast they've unleashed.

bush is a war criminal?
anti-war?
shrink the government?
anti-corporatism?
get spending under control?
sure there are some huge divides, but these are the similarities.
the problem is that they can not see any connection with liberal ideals and think that corporatism is strictly on the left when it is a beast both sides like to serve for varying reasons. their anti-climate stance has a lot to do with their disdain of corporatism. yes, i think these guys are nutty, especially since they blame lefty for everything even though we share common beliefs, but that is something that could be overcome if it were approached thoughtfully.

Don't forget Ron Paul's first shot at the W/H was in 1988 as the nominee of the Libertarian Party and again in 2008 as a Republican. He has come to the realization that in a predominately two party system, his best approach would be to reform the (R) party and that's what he's recommended to his liberty (religious liberty) minded base.
When he was shut out last year, some of his peeps went for the star appeal of Bob Barr, the 2008 Libertarian Party nominee and a great deal went for Chuck Baldwin, founder-pastor of Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, whom was the nominee of the Constitution Party for the 2008.
These people don't realize the majority of this nation do not welcome there spiritual ideology. The Republicans are so fractured right now because of their heavy reliance on the Tali-baptists, the only thing I see enabling them is apathy for the weak kneed liberals.

I didn't know George Bush was black. I guess the fact that this crowd called Bush a war criminal. Did you not ever stop and think that maybe the dislike of Obama amongst some of us is down to the fact that in reality he's not much different than Bush.
I guess its easier though to just label us as racist though, rather than to actually accept your holiness-in-chief isn't everything you expected him to be.
i didnt listen to the tape as i dont want to hear raging loons in the morning. wow they have clearly abandoned reason for madness. im going to guess that a lot of them voted for Bush/war criminal. so i wonder what that makes them? war criminal enablers?
It makes them those people another Republican president referred to as being fooled all of the time.
If the attitude you are displaying in your posting is "normal behaviour" for the teabagger lot, I found one big reason most folks are turned off by your nonsense.
Funny all the republicans are now "independent concerned conservatives" who were against the war from day one, except when they weren't.
All in a vane attempt to recover any of their non existent credibility, so that they can, with a straight face, try to equate the poor sap who has to clean up the mess that Bush left us... with Bush himself.
In other words, the guys who were shovelling "personal responsibility" down our throats, are now beating all sorts of world records trying to pass the buck around.
Funny bunch, these wingnuts are.
While you have a valid point, I was thinking more along the lines of the "insult your betters, then wonder why everyone is picking on you" nonsense the teabagger crowd seems to do so often. I realise it probably is yet another way they have to self-reinforce their persecution complexes, but it is pretty annoying.
Also, being told by the teabagger crowd that anyone is behaving like a cult is kind of like having Charles Manson claim you dig the Beatles a bit too much.
Just keep praying.
Study the symptoms not the virus...
for those that dont know who that is: Ronald Reagan. and remember he was from California. a lot of these teabaggers dont care for California, San Francisco, latinos, gays, electoral votes, etc. all those things that California has in abundance (like Democratic votes) they dont like. something tells me ol St Ronnie would eventually be one of them if he were here to take their ire.
has finally met the enemy and the enemy is him.

A couple of these rabid teabaggers were on the Chris Matthews' show last night....so obvious how stupid they are.
One of them said that Lindsay Graham mentioned he would negotiate with Democrats on Social Security. When asked what the issue with Social Security was, the guy basically said that he didn't know but he didn't like Graham for saying he would negotiate with Democrats.
When Tweety asked one of the guys who would make a good Presidential pairing, he mentioned Sarah Palin, with Jim DeMint as VP.
I think it was Tweety who also showed video of a woman yelling at Lindsay Graham, staying that "God does not negotiate!"
These people are so ass backwards. They need to get their own country.

...right, they've become left.
I know it was a joke, but the only things these people have "left" is reasoning and logic.
Ok, you're to stupid to see the environmental gain to be had but what about the economic gains? These idiots can't see that developing new sources of energy equals new jobs? I'm 52 and if I ever get so old that I'm against new ideas becuase I'm afraid of them please someone just shoot me.
..... as a National Security issue. Depending on other countries for our energy puts us at risk.
And here is why we can't "drill, baby drill". While we are almost there on hybrid autos, our military is light years from not depending on fossil fuels and may never get there. Think of our un-tapped off-shore and Arctic reserves as Strategic Reserves to keep our country safe.
Personally, I am a peace-nik, but my rightie so-called friends have difficulty arguing this.
Not to mention the myriad of uses for petroleum ( drugs, chemicals, plastics etc.) We depend as much if not more on these uses than we do for burning/transportation
Reality has a liberal bias
For the good of the country and the entire planet there should be an IQ test that potential voters must pass before they have the right to vote in this country . This would with out a doubt eliminate the Tea bagger / birther bunch as well as 3/4 of the Republican vote .
It was aimed at excluding black folks, but it worked the same way...
.
something about lying down with (blue) dogs... and getting up with something. What was that... oh, it escapes me right now.
Sorry about that, I couldn't resist.
What other parts of the secession do we want to keep for bases to fight the insurgency? We will need all the land in Utah and Idaho that is currently public. A base certainly has to go there to repel the KKK that own the northern borders. We will need the space for solar cells to power the new nation.
WTF is this about negotiating on Social Security?
I begin to suspect that, as it needed a Puke like Nixon to visit China, it's gonna be a (black) Dim who administers the coup de grace to the social safety net...
Lindsey seems you got yourself a dose of crazy fleas
Politics is ugly
Another Republican senator about to bite the dust.
These nuts can't muster a majority of state votes, but they sure can muck up the primary.
to anyone that has been reading the Beckian message boards since Beck's lugubrious inception of the 912 Project....I used to read their internet rantings regularly, curious as to what motivated those folks, and wondering what in the world ANYONE saw in Glenn Beck.
It made my brain bleed and I can't stomach their insanity any more, but they hate just about everything that isn't Beck (or Palin or Bachmann - those are the guiding lights of CrAzY anyway)
But IT WAS NO SECRET; if the GOP had ANYONE monitoring the message boards, they would have seen this trend early on. Instead, they tried to use the crazy to their advantage. Haha! There is very much a "throw all the bums out" mantra there - these folks think themselves neo-libertarian/"true" conservative/protectors of all that is "real America" etc etc etc...oh, and they are the real "WE THE PEOPLE" (liberals, evidently, are not)
Funny thing - there is a schism in crazyland between the Dick Armey funded tea party express (and all the big RW think-tank money behind it) and the groups on the ground that are now up and running and thinking themselves real "grassroots" organizations. They're pretty well funded too, of course, but so "real American" and patriotic and all that. And they don't need Armey's money anymore. So talk about biting the hand that fed you!
Obama is coming to Texas tomorrow, and the local GOP is of course sponsoring an anti-Obama rally (did local OFFICAL PARTY organizations sponsor ANY ANTI-BUSH rallies?)...the teabaggers are delighted to get invited to the space set aside for the GOP, but refuse to wear red as requested by the GOP...they'll wear their ridiculous snake shirts instead. They are such free thinkers. lol But the GOP miscalculated badly about the teabagger movement.
Play with fire, you can get burned.
Play with crazy, welcome to insanity!
These crazies are the beckensteins monster now roaming the country.
Glen Beck is a dangerous, paranoid schizo who is given not only his fox hour but is showing up on mainstream (Katie Couric, Newsweek, NYTimes) media. He is being made normal by the media and the GOP won't call him out because the loonies are their base.
I heard a 912er on our progressive radio station in Tampa. He had this smooth voice and kept saying, "We aren't against things, we're for things". Yet, his condescending tone and self congratulatory way of speaking were puke producing.
When 70 people show up outside an elementary school to protest a made up controversy, it's time to start calling these people out, holding counter protests and holding the media responsible when or if violence occurs.
Evil, fearful, crazed, paranoid people + weaponry = bad stuff happening.
The GOP has a history of funding groups to do their dirty work on almost every level, and it always comes back to bite them in the behind.
I wanna see Colbert's birth certificate. I cannot believe he was born in the same state these people represent. I believe he was born in Hawaii and I will continue to believe that until I see proof otherwise.

Only way they will ever elect a President again is to attract Independents, which means moving to the center. Problem is, Beck and the Screamers have so radicalized the base, this is not possible.
I anticipate a split here leaving both the tea-baggers and the "thinking conservatives" (I'm feeling generous this AM) with parties destined to be permanent minorities.
being thrown out of hell for being a bad boy. These people are certifiable, but now they think they have real strength. Now they want to purify the cause.

I believe you'll find these "Ron Paul" radicals not too fond of Sue Lowden either. Seems she dissed them during the last election cycle. It'll be interesting to see what Holy-Roller comes out of NV next time around.
A comment from The Hill:
"Sue Lowden has been the least effective party leader I have ever seen. She ticked off the Ron Paul vote (second in the '08 GOP Primary) by shutting them down during the Nevada Republican Convention, she presided over one of the greatest drubbings that a party has seen in voter registration numbers and turnout, and sent out a press release a day hysterically condemning things Nevada voters turned out for in the last election. Does anyone really think with $25 million dollars Harry Reid can't beat this woman? She's no Thune, that's for sure."BY Joe on 09/26/2009 at 22:01

Not surprised to see the Ron Paul teabagging fringers come out at something like this. For all those who think Ron Paul is the answer to rationale conservatism, here's a glimpse of what you'd see. Libertarianism is an excuse to hate anyone other than yourself.
Scratch a libertarian hard enough and you will find a nut inside.
"Anyone that makes less than $150K in this country, has no business voting Republican."
If one more person in a bar shows me their "Libertarian" cards, I can't be responsible for my actions.
What I've been doing is asking them to name a country that has a successful Libertarian Government. That generally renders them speechless.
Shit. I stop them in their tracks when I ask them to spell libertarian.
"Anyone that makes less than $150K in this country, has no business voting Republican."
without using either the gold standard or any tangential (and usually nonsensical) reference to the federal reserve.
That usually works like garlic holy water on a vampire at sunrise.
That one's easy, just get them started on the evils of the Post Office. The funny thing is I have some libertarian friends of the old libertarian-left persuasion who feel the libertarian movement has been taken over in a hostile bid by the right.
I think this guy has many of Ron Paul's supporters nailed about right.

but a source of pride to be a complete moronic uneducated incompetent nut in this country?
At the point of bush being president for eight years. He was the "moronic uneducated incompetent" president. They are angry because there are right back where they were eight or nine years ago.

Embracing stupidity -- and, conversely, spurning intelligence, is an American tradition. One of Adlai Stevenson's biggest drawbacks as a presidential candidate was that voters thought he was too smart for his own good, and thus couldn't be trusted. In "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Washington Irving does not paint Ichabod Crane as a sympathetic character. Distrust of smarts, unfortunately, is as American as torture and fixed elections.

Throughout the 90's he boasted of having 20 million listeners, now he claims only 15 million.

it became cool to bash the public education system. Which is hysterical if you think about it for roughly half a second. These people are "know-it-alls" they know "everything" and yet how did they get so smart? Public education! But how could they be so smart when they themselves went through public education and by their own admittance public education is BAD!
Either way they are dumb!! By saying that the public eduction is as horrible as they say it is, then they're admitting they aren't smart and the dumb can be easily lead by tards like Beck and Limbaugh.
But these people think they are the smartest people in the world, which means they were served very well by the public education system! THey want to have it both ways and they can't!

in my opinion many of these TEAbaggers don't have the ability to look into an issue beyond ideologue/talking points. did i hear "drill baby".........thought so. if drilling were to occur my understanding is that there's no guarantee it wouldn't go to another country/higher bidder. people against climate and clean air have bought into the corporate propaganda against this issue. there's a large % of air pollution that comes to california from china via air currents.with the growth of the china middleclass/buying autos in china we can expect more air pollution. we not only have to explore and use alternative fuel sources but we need to set an example to other countries. if we don't reduce our oil consumption we will continue to be involved in costly war(s). i feel many of these people are empowered by the romance of idealism.

I am loving this, watching the monster the GOP unleashed feed upon it's "master". This is schadenfreude at it's very best. LMAO!!!
This is really really funny. Graham is one of the rightest of the right. He still thinks that Sarah Palin is cool. These people who are rallying against Graham are a small part of the country but the question is how big or small a portion they are of the Republican Party. Even if they are 20% of the Republican Party the Party cannot win a national election without them. The Party is imploding and it is being driven by Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Fox News in general and right wing talk radio.
it's being driven by Rupert Murdouche.
Listening to the lunatic fringe screaming in the background it's no wonder their party can't be taken seriously anymore and is thankfully dying. These Reslug morons are uneducated, stupid and worst of all they're ruining our gene pools.

This video shows the corner the Republicans painted themselves into. By stirring up a small but very vocal fringe of wingnut tea party protesters against President Obama this summer, they have unleashed a force of loonies that now come back to bite them in the ass whenever they do anything less than loonie. Here, Graham gets attacked by the wingnuts for trying to work with the Democratic majority in the Senate to get something done to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. I think the person with the camera says, “I have a problem with your idea of principled compromise.” The GOP’s problem is that, after aligning themselves so much with the wingnuts and alienating the independents, moderate Republicans, and the great center of the electorate, there aren’t nearly enough wingnuts around to put them in the majority in Congress, or in the White House.
The GOP can't run away from their base.

i thought the teabaggers were originally some sort of astroturf to fight the tarp.
now i hear stuff about:
anti corporatism
anti war
anti bush
shrink the debt
accountability
if it weren't for the fact that these guys are so divisive and anti-left, i would say there was hope for them, but there isn't because they will never seek alliances or common ground outside of there own nutty faction.
That is what this sorry little puke said you can leave!
Well mr graham you can leave any fucking time you like and no one would miss you asshole.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!
And they're not intimidated by the words of people who legitimize teabaggers, ie, Fox News.
A few years back they built a bubble in Arizona that was to simulate living on another planet to say the least it was a dismal failure, however here is the challenge to the green machine purchase it or lease it now comes the challenge.
The teabaggers are asked to participate in a six month isolation exercise and here how it goes.
1) Complete physicals by all volunteers.
2) They must sign a waiver that they will consume everything they say is not safe and should not be filtered.
3) The volunteers can only drink water from the unfiltered areas they reside in and the same goes for the fish.
4) The air intake will be adjusted to what the national average is everyday, this is to be critically monitored.
5) The beef, poultry will come from undisclosed sources that use the teabaggers guidelines.
6) Outside communications will be kept to a minimum to be family and friends, use of the internet and other communications are to be encouraged and also blocked to protect the project.
There are other eliments that are essentiasl but can be added at the appropriate time, waant to bet not one of these self righteous COWARDS will come forward.
This is just a idea that can be extrapolated upon and built up, by the way if the cowards did participate they could not say it was fixed.
Hey! The Republicans have thugs to take care of their teabagger nutjobs. Didja see how fast that rube in the yellow shirt sat down and zipped it? Pretty impressive. I guess if we dems did that we'd be accused of being stormtroopers or something. Oh well.
