McCain Campaign fed the Hoax Racist Assault Story to the media!

Big news just hit the fan for McCain. I knew this was a bogus Drudge story when it came out that she refused medical treatment for her wounds. I've been through enough these last few years and know the pain would have been incredible and anyone of us would have begged for a doctor immediately. Well, it looks like the McCain campaign has their fingers all over this phony volunteer attack story and that's big trouble for him.
John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.
John Verrilli, the news director for KDKA in Pittsburgh, told TPM Election Central that McCain's Pennsylvania campaign communications director gave one of his reporters a detailed version of the attack that included a claim that the alleged attacker said, "You're with the McCain campaign? I'm going to teach you a lesson." Verrilli also told TPM that the McCain spokesperson had claimed that the "B" stood for Barack. According to Verrilli, the spokesperson also told KDKA that Sarah Palin had called the victim of the alleged attack, who has since admitted the story was a hoax...read on

Now I ask the question. Since McCain's camp was involved in trying to promote this race baiting attack story against Obama, will the media care? Let's hope so.
UPDATE: If this doesn't discredit Drudge also then what will? He was obviously fed this story by Republicans from either the RNC or McCain's campaign.

I agree that this campaign is now about Congress. The GOP is diverting funds away from McPain in order to shore up their House and Senate seats. Obama may be doing the same. It’s a good idea right now (especially if this story hits they as I expect) for Dems to “Think Nationally, Act Locally”. As we know, a Majority is not enough – in the Election or in Congress.

It really wouldn't surprise me in the least to learn that some of McCain's own supporters did it and that she aided in that effort. That backwards "B" carved on her cheek is just one example. No one I know of would write, let alone carve a backwards "B". Its as if she was looking in a mirror and simple carved the "B" as it appeared in the mirror.
She wasn't smart enough to realize the B was being etched into her face backwards, while she was carving it as she looked in a mirror. Not the brightest bulb.

To think that she could get away with telling this story and having the MSM run it without fact checking tells quite a deal about how race is treated by the MSM. It is notable that they instantly believed this young lady and treated her with sympathy until the pieces fell into place.
What is even worse is that they will still treat this woman with a modicum of empathy because she cites mental health issues in blaming an African American of an imaginary crime.

I suspected foul play as soon as I heard the story, it just sounded like what it turned out to be; an attempt to sabbotage Obama's campaign. You should have seen some of the comments over on LGF yesterday, and even today after it has been shown to be a hoax they are still trying to spin it in their favour.
The Depertment of Homeland Security needs to get involved in this matter. The implications of this hoax could have lead to rioting over race throughout the U.S. I feel that if the player were a Democrat they would definitely have gotten involved.

As a Pittsburgher, that comment annoys me. First, I hope this young woman receives the help she needs. But even when the story hit this morning, people like me who live near the area knew something was wrong:
The neighborhood (not "suburb," as some have reported) where she was allegedly attacked is not "dangerous" as she wrote on her blog. It is one of the safest family neighborhoods in the city.
She said it happened at 9 p.m. only a block or so away from several bars and businesses, and just as close to one of our largest hospitals. And she not only waited a day to get treatment, but avoided going into one of the many establishments for help?
Pittsburghers aren't likely to just walk by an attack victim on a busy thoroughfare that is active until at least 2 a.m.
She was looking for a Bank of America ATM. Bank of America doesn't have branches in Pittsburgh.
When the Tribune Review (Richard Mellon Scaife's paper) ran the photo on the front page, everyone asked, Why is the "B" backwards?
Pittsburgh does have a rich history, and this story embarrassed us. This young woman wasted police people-hours that could have been dedicated to solving real crimes. And alleging that it was a Black man was racial. That hurts most of all.

It wasn't the color of the skin, but rather the content of the character, that brought volunteers out over the past week to build this family's home. Pittsburgh has its problems, like any other city. But please don't confuse us with the Pittsburgh of Ashley Todd's imagination.
The "War Hero" runs a top-down operation. He knew what he was dealing with from moment one. And because, as so many editors say "Matt Drudge rules our world" he knew precisely how to feed this racist lie to a credulous media.
Luckily it's not quite as creedulous as usual -- thanks to professional police work.

As an individual incident we can laugh and roll our eyes, but the truth of the matter is this is just an indicator of the lengths these people will go to instigate violence in this country. If it were Hilary instead of Obama they would use something else to try to mobilize fear and hatred.
I've lived in Third World countries and this is the kind of thing that is done to either a) start a civil war; and/or b) justify a coup d'estate.
I really don't think I am being over dramatic here.
Think of the kind of people who would do this in our US of A. They have no love of this country. They only want power!!!
The mainstream press is reporting the incident as a hoax, but I haven't seen any coverage of the suspicious way that the McCain campaign almost immediately hyped the story, with details that hadn't been officially released yet.
Apparently, the only honesty out there.
There are O/C disorders involving cutting.

I got a black eye once falling from an over-crowded DART train, and it didn't look too disimilar.

The MSMBS will refuse to pick this story up and do a full court press. Simply put, to date, no other candidates have been given air time. Not the Greens. Not the Libertarians. Not Nader. Not anyone BUT(!) Blue and Red. Should the ABCNNBCBS&FOXPRAVDA of the MSNBS target McRacist for the McCampaign it is, then they can not have a legitimate horse race. I mean, who bets on a one horse race? What bookie will lay odds on that horse? What does the bookie(read Corporate enterprise that PWNS our Democracy) stand to win?

Mccain, Palin and Co. have spent time recently here in Sedona. So have many Republican operatives. They came into town from McCains houst -NOT a ranch- to buy dozens of Lattes from Starbucks at Safeway. Apparently neither Cindy or Sarah can make coffee.
But around that same time, a bizarre report appeared in our only paper, the Red Rock News, about the arrest of some nut case who had threatened to carve a Pentagram into the face of a shopkeeper.
This reminded me of another coincidental story around election time, the threat to America by the 'mixing of liquids' story that caused every airline passengers here and in Britain to throw out their personal products - coincidentally also just months before the 2006 election.
What many never knew then however, was that right before that story first made national headlines, a bizarre story made the Houston papers. Coincidentally Blair and Bush were both on vacation, with Bush at his Texas ranch at that same time. The Houston story told of an explosion with one man killed as a result of a couple of 'local anarchist types mixing different chemicals". The chemicals were so fragile and dangerous the FBI was called in - and chose to blow up the entire apartment building.
I note specifically here that the men were white, were not called 'terrorists' and the chemicals had nothing to do with drugs.
Et voila, a week later Tony and George have a new pre-election terrorist warning.
What if she was co-erced into this? Where is the local DHS?
When this race is all over, John McCain needs to come out and make a very public apology to the nation for his entirely negative campaign. This country is in so much trouble, not only ecomically, but socially and racially, and the latter is due in large part to McCain's campaign and his supporters.....individuals as well as organizations like FNC and Drudge.
As the McCain campaign takes yet another hit and augers into the ground like a ruptured duck, the pilot reaches for his parachute and discovers that crew chief Moosegirl has packed her new clothes into the pack and realizes he is now truly fucked.
Ah, it just doesn't get any better than this, does it?
that Moosegirl loathes him. And he not so secretly hates her too.
Fitting, isn't it. He thought he could manipulate women into voting for him by having Palin on the ticket.

Its to be hoped John Stewart gets hold of this story and lets the nation know how low the scum Republicans have sunk and McCain and Palins involvement in it. That then is the election if this story gets the coverage it deserves and the truth is revealed.
I know it isn't right to speculate like this but I've started to wonder if that McCain Pennsylvania communications director put the poor mentally unstable girl up to this.
