I know most of America understands this, but let me say it anyway. President Obama's speech to the middle east was not meant for the neocon, warmongering fringe psychos like Charles Krauthammer. He was apoplectic on Brett Baier's show today on FOX because Obama's team didn't craft a speech that the AEI would approve of. It was meant to reach out to the Muslim population and try to repair some of the damage caused by war hungry neocon fanatics that got their wish under George Bush with disastrous consequences.

Kauthammer: The damage in policy was rather small. The damage to our position philosophically was large. On policy the speech was small because the speech was so abstract and vapid in self absorbed that it didn't touch on a lot of policy except on Iran. Here he was exceedingly weak, that was the weakest statement on Iran on Nukes in at least eight or nine years from anyone in the west....there was once again apologies over and over again. Apologies in moral equivalence....

Moral equivalency was his theme and he gets crazier as he goes on...What he obviously means is that George Bush and Cheney are no longer in power to incite violence around the world...

President Obama's message has a much greater chance to start influencing some hearts and minds in the middle east where we need to do exactly that. I hope they realize that we all don't want to invade their countries and turn them into Christians. On that major point he succeeded. To all the neocon pundits that unfortunately dominate our airwaves I think I speak for many liberals when I say: Go Cheney yourself.

I want to give some props to Ed Morrissey (who I disagree with on most issues, but met and like personally) for not taking the usual conservative line as he called the speech: Quite Good. The readers on Hot Air were not too please with Ed on this one. I doubt you can read many of their comments because you'll constantly read teabagger nonsense about Obama like this: 'The first Muslim president,' and so forth...
And Malkin's comment section is much different then ours because we don't pre-screen and then approve people like they do.

We have a lot to apologize for. That speech was epic!! Heroic!!

Once in a lifetime uber pwn killer!!!!!!

x

Don't you people get it? He should have gone over there, swaggered around like a fake cowboy and called them towels heads? That's diplomacy damn it.

Until Obama keeps his campaign words and promises he has losed me and my support...

Like Hillary stated on the campaign trail... Obama was a person with a speech..

The problem I have is there is no substance to his words.

I was looking for the soldiers in Iraq to be withdrawn , the illegal spying on the American citizens to stop , the free trade bill to be renegotiated it has taken over 3.5 million jobs in just a 2 year period , the tax welfare given to the corporations and the wealthy by Bush and company stopped but nothing has been done and the people to regain their constitution powers over running the government.

This bail out and stimulus packages was a joke and have cost the American tax payers trillions of dollars borrowed from China. And the criminal financial empire has received our trillions of our tax money while American lose their homes , jobs , health insurance and retirement.

Looks as if Obama is being used to setup Americans to except the final stage in the transfer of wealth and power to these Global Giants..

For me until Obama's words are fulfilled then he and his words are a joke to the American citizens.

The citizens of this Amreica are also being excluded from the health debate for "US"..

The man has to un-do eight years of the "Bush legacy." You don't think it might take him just a bit longer than 6 months to accomplish? It's not like he can wave a magic wand and get everything he wants.

thought that the Iraq war was a great idea.

And the teevee continues to lend a soapbox to

the village idiots.

Giving this putz a Pulitzer Prize has to be one of the worst events in journalistic history.

He has nothing of value to say, nothing of value to add to any geopolitical discussion.

Do us all a favor Charles...just go away.

Krauthammer is terrified the Neocon paradigm of eternal conflict and demonization will be replaced by peacemakers that want equity for all and to live harmoniously. The intelligence, patience and skill required for effective diplomacy is utterly beyond these simplistic bullies comprehension.

Macho schmucks like him equate peace with weakness, in reality, advocacy of peace and forbearance are great strengths and inflexible ideologues like him who batter the world community into submission with their self centered interest are the cowards.

Get the hell out of the way Charles, as we will rebuild what you hacks tore down.

"It's easy to laugh it's easy to hate. It takes strength to be gentle and kind!"

Right on, bmw 528 & Leadership!

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall sit at the right hand of God.

Matthew 5:7

"Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with false and false with true."

Got that Charles?

..............to bet he's a ZIONIST

...............to bet this little sniveling coward is a ZIONIST Christian or not????

He is describes himself as non religious. He won an award called

the Guardian of Zion Award. He is also a board certified

Psychiatrist with an MD from Harvard.

Must mean Mental Defective in his case.

You ROCK BARAK! Thanks for the class...You used words and phrases no "moron" could understand....Classic, brother...Classic!

perfect!

Will the bubble boy ever become aware of the worlds reaction to our Presidents speech or will his precious bubble protect him? Find out on the next episode of ‘Krautfingernailfile Like a Fox’.

Ghouls like Krauthammer still can't comprehend that their war of choice in Iraq was such an epic failure. Now the neocons want more war, guns, bombs, and death with Iran and N. Korea.

When he said that "The damage to our position philosophically was large", he was absoluetly correct. What he didn't say is that it was the American Enetrprise Institute's position that was damaged. The position of the United States was vastly improved and he can't stand that because it was done by a "liberal". Too bad! Cry me a river that at long last-finally, the AEI and AIPAC aren't calling all the shots.

as an asshole, Kauthammer is that irritation you get
when the toilet paper fails your fingers
at the wrong moment.....

Krauthammer is one of those self-indulgent neocons that we'll find pan-handling in Grand Central Station soon. His world has ended. They are 100% irrelevant.

??

Some needs to tell Faux Noise -- I don't think they've figured that out.

Memo to Krauthammer: You lost, get over it.

He does that when their traffic is low.

not that I would know.

I posted over there until he banned me.

Allah pundit posts red meat for the cons.He is an atheiest moderate and usually the one that gets them going.

Suck on that Krauthammer!

The speech might have been damaging philosophically to YOU - Mr. Clothespin-on-your-nose -- but YOU don't matter.

For the majority of Americans - it was just fine.

In fact - it was marvelous.

But that is the ugliest man I have ever seen. I try not to judge people by their looks but where the hell did that face come from? Talk about being weaned on a pickle! He could benefit by gaining 400+ pounds. A big pimply scab would be an improvement.

that is correct, the neocon(artist) only want to break and smash and destroy whatever they can get their hands on. So of course they have no interest in peace and brotherhood.

Remember neocons use Christianity the same way Al Quaida use Islam with the same goal in mind.

............and like the NAZI's used the Aryan mystique, CHRISTIANITY has allowed itself to be the shield, the rallying force for all the sociopaths.

look-alike ever been right about anything? This turd has a worse batting average
the Kristol. Only on faux.

The only people that didn't like the speech were extremists on both sides, moslem and neocon.

If that guy puts on any more makeup he's going to make The Joker look like a sunflower hippie chick.

"Moral equivalency was his theme and he gets crazier as he goes on...What he obviously means is that George Bush and Cheney are no longer in power to incite violence around the world..."

Bush and Cheney are no longer here to incite violence. The only challenge is attempting to observe where the unhinged crazy comes from next.

that Obama's presidency makes Krauthammer crazy. I hate to descend to the conservative level (if it makes liberals mad I'm for it), but it's wonderful to watch him go (more) nuts.

Mr. Krauthammer described our interference in Iran in 1953 (CIA coop to overthrow popularly elected leader and return the Shah to power) as not equivalent to the 30 years of Iranian extremism since the Shah was ousted. There are only two things wrong with his shallow comment. The first is that our interference was not a one day event -- it resulted in almost 30 years of terrorism against the Iranian people by the Shah's secret police, rampant corruption, and our continuing propping up of the Shah's despised government. The second error Mr. Krauthammer makes is underestimating our intelligience. Even without all the details those of us hearing his idiotic remark understand that a CIA masterminded coop and 25 years of supporting a corrupt government qualifies as something more than a one-time event that happened so long ago we can't compare it to the retaliation of the revolutionary government. Tossing off what we did as trivial displays either his ignorance or his arrogance and both are inappropriate for someone in his position. He compounded the fallacies in his arguments when he absolved the US of conducting itself like an imperial power because our position of control in various countries, like Iran, was hidden unlike the Brits and French, for example, with their openly recognized control. Can he truly believe it is less reprehensible to be have secret control over a country than to be the recognized colonial power?

.

Is is just me or is "moral equivalency" the neocon Talking Point of the Day(tm)? Didn't Cheney's daughter Marilyn Munster just use it?

These clowns truly just read right off the script. What would be interesting would be to know just who is producing this movie, although it's clear Rove is writing it.

Just like all the other chickenhawk neocons- ready for war as long as they're on the sidelines- important enough to pontificate about, but when it comes to fighting they've got "other priorities"
a total punk

Is this guy so stupid that he thinks the coup was an event without consequence? Is he so stupid that he thinks the shah's 26 year reign of terror wasn't sponsored by the U.S? There is more than a moral equivalence here; there is a factual equivalence. These people are so fucking stupid it's pathetic; their analytical abilities are shallow, narrow and provincial, at best, and deliberately dishonest at worst.

I listened to Obama's historic speech. It was one of the best speeches I have heard in my life.

I went to CNN and the top story was GOP criticism of Obama's speech. The top story on FOX was

"Alabama man pleads guilty to manslaughter after wife drowns during honeymoon scuba diving trip to Australia."

On Fox's politics section the top story was

"Files Reveal Sotomayor's Controversial 'Wise Latina' Remark Not Isolated"

So where is this liberal media that I keep hearing about?

No doubt! This speech should have been live on every network, and re-broadcast in its entirety in the evening.

As everyone has been saying the speech was meant for the Middle East. In other countries, including Canada, there was lots of coverage. I was a bit disappointed that the Canadian networks (that I saw) seemed to be critical. They did a lot of "comments from the street" but seemed to focus on negative comments. BBC and others we're more positive.

I watched a bit of the German visit and it seemed like in Europe the media is less interested in the middle east and any discussions of War and far more interested in talking about the environment. I thought Obama was a bit like Bush in that he kept going back to Palistinian/Isreal conflict rather than answering environment questions.

When right-wing chicken hawks espouse historical contexts through philosophical prisms, what you will find is absolute narcissism. Sure it's dressed up with falsehoods and non-contextual comparisons, but it is pure histrionics. It is the schoolboy dictum, I am right and you are wrong. I am white and you are brown. I am good and you are bad.

Obama as it turns out, looks like he's going to be a transformative President abroad much more so than domestically. Who would ever believe just 10 years ago (hell 5 years ago) an American President with African and Muslim descendants would actually use real historical context to try and bring some semblance of diplomatic relations without using the power of oil as leverage.

Sure, all the powers that be are pissed. This is like Ceasar standing up in Carthage and admitting Roman imperialism can be counter-productive. It is a shining achievement of imperial modesty.

I hate to get all grammar nazi on ya, but... "much different then ours"?

Never have I heard so many words used to say absolutely nothing. Chucky is the most vacuous pompous self inflated bag of wind I have heard on right wing PRAVDA.

If he had ever done anything besides type on a computer and wear makeup on the weekends, I might give his opinion some credit. None of these do nothing war hawks has any experience to back up what they say. Not one. I guess that makes it easier to get them to read the talking points.

Please continue to pay this idiot for his weekly 'column'...

As your readership declines...Krauthammer will have fulfilled his goal in destroying yet another icon of the institution formerly known as the '4th estate' on your dime....

)O(

Newspapers haven't cost a dime in ages.

you sir, are a fuckin neo-CON fucktard!

Check this Israeli's reaction to Obama's speech...
Probably sayin what Krauthammer's thinkin.
http://www.philipweiss.org/mondoweiss/2009/06...?

"George Bush and Cheney are no longer in power to incite violence around the world..."

Thankfully, we have a democrat as commander-in-chief who can take over that role and incite violence.

See ya in Afghanistan. Build them barracks.
See ya in Pakistan. Send in the drones.
See ya in Iraq - one half million bucks a minute being spent by uncle sap as we speak.

Democrats in control.
They smile while sticking you in the back.
The repubs just stick you.

...when the hell did Obama say that unequal funding for women's college sports here is the moral equivalent of public beatings of women in Saudi Arabia? Does Kraphammer really believe that Obama is that blind or naive?

And where does he get 'self absorbed?' Obama mentions his interesting past because it is relevant, unlike these cracker chicken hawks, straight from golden cradles!

I am listening to this speech and I realize a couple of things about Obama. First, this trip and more specifically this speech seeks to appease Islam, fundamental or not, with his charisma and his popularity. However, appeasement does not work. It did not work with Hitler and it won't work with the Islamic world. Those that hate America will continue to hate America no matter how much appeasement Obama offers, the only thing that will have changed is that they will no longer fear or respect the might this nation has because they will see an appeaser as a weak man.

Other realizations that I have arrived at is that Obama is a popularist, oppurtunistic communist-neo corparatist. The popularist and oppurtunistic part are pretty evident to anyone willing to stand back and take an objective look at this presidency thus far. So let me explain the confusing part of these realizations, the communist-fascist. There are ten things that Karl Marx laid out as the core principles of communists in the Communist Manifesto.
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralization of credit in the banks of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
http://www.anu.edu.au/polsci/marx/classics/ma...
Of these principles Obama espouses, to some degree or another, 7 of the 10 principles. There is no way for you to argue this. The above principles are quoted directly from Karl Marx's text and is evident to any objective veiwer. The only point of contention that can be given is the degree of responsibility Obama has for the centralization of credit and banking system under the federal government. Bush proposed it and Obama, and many others, voted for it.

For the second half the political title neo-corporatist. Wikipedia defines neo-corporatism as "Some contemporary political scientists and sociologists use the term neo-corporatism to describe a process of bargaining between labor, capital, and government"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatism#Fasc...). With the recent governmental takeover of GM and the negotiations with management and unions this definition is ever more apparent.

Seperately, these two political ideologies are distinct. However, when you blend the two, the worst of both systems are brought to the forefront and when they are viewed lens of the spirit of our founding fathers they are grossly Un-American.

I challenge those on this website to take an objective look at the actions at this presidency and make a judgement on whether George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and Benjamen Franklin and all of the Founding Fathers would agree with the current administration.

What apologizes, are these delusional nit wits have a grasp on the present, or is it all and only about Hatred. I am glad for HuPo and Crooks and Liars because I can Not bring myself to watch these Bias Ignorant self absorbed Hate Mongers preach their Intolerance.

Like the line go cheney yourself (always small letters for a small man)

in fact, to call him a hideous fucker is an insult to hideous fuckers.
