Obama called a terrorist as John McCain speaks...Palin supporter yells: "Sit down, boy"
By John Amato Tuesday Oct 07, 2008 2:41pmListen closely. When McCain asks who Barack Obama is a McCain supporter yells "a terrorist." It's pretty pathetic and McCain should tell his peeps that there is no place for that in his campaign. Sorry, I lost my mind for a second. This is their strategy...
More from Jack & Jill Politics:
John “Country Last” McCain and Sarah Palin held some truly hate filled rallies on Monday. Here’s a montage from McCain’s hatefest 2008
During this rally, a McCain supporter answers the question posed by Senator Country Last, “Who is the real Barack Obama?” The unmistakable answer: terrorist!
Palin says nothing. But the current political environment does not excuse remaining silent when a candidate for president is referred to as a “terrorist” in your presence. A desire to win does not excuse remaining silent during a threat on the life of a U.S. Senator at one of your rallies. There are no excuses for evil such as this. John McCain and Sarah Palin, the GOP and all who support them have lost all rights to legitimate argument.
Then we have a Palin fan get real ugly:
Worse, Palin’s routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric’s questions for her “less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media.” At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, “Sit down, boy.”
Wow, just wow.
Palin was so feeble during her interview with Couric that it obviously surprised Katie. So much so that it prompted her to continue asking some basic follow up questions. Questions that Palin couldn't answer. Just amazing.

But apparently RACISM is the last refuge of the scoundrel.
Racism's become the FIRST refuge...
Btw, if it is permissible for the patently FALSE charge that Obama's a 'terrorist' be allowed to stand, how then can McC(umst)ain complain when the accusations against him appear and charge him as a murderous, careless, irresponsible, treasonous baby-killer, war-criminal, thief, cheat, and two-timing adulterer, all of which are objectively true to known facts.
...corralling reporters to not allow them near SUPPORTERS of Palin. No press. No questions. No talking to supporters.
Talk about Wow. Just wow.
What are thunder sticks? I'm not surprised by this kind of racism, but still, it's shocking that people feel free to express it openly. Small, ignorant, uneducated people have to see somebody as lower than they are.
thunder sticks are these blow up sticks filled with tiny pellets...they make alot of noise when banged together
when the giants played the angels in the 2002 series, they handed out those thunder sticks to all the fans at angels stadium...truly obnoxious
you usually see them at football games
I think it's best to refrain from using the label "racism" so often as it loses its meaning after a while. It's akin to the "sexist" accusations the McCant campaign throws at the media and others when they criticize Palin. And just like the "anti-Semitic" accusations when discussing other topics tend to be hollow and empty, let's avoid doing the same with "racism".
Personally, I do believe it's racism, but it's really tough to argue when its veiled in such accusations as "terrorist" what with the Ayers connection.
Just my two Dow points.
I refuse to be denied my right to express my views for fear someone else disagrees with me.
You missed my point completely, Xoites. What happened to you?
No one's denying you anything, let alone your right. All I'm saying is let's not be hypocrites, like the Republicans. That's all.
What this is referring to.
That's OK. You're not missing much anyway. I was just blabbering.
It's important to me. :)
Wow, is this the pot calling the kettle black, so to speak?
Another reason Miles Davis in an early 1960's Playboy interview said "I refuse to play the South. No way in hell I'm blowing for them fat assed ignorant white racists down there."
Hold on to your horses. Astory is coming out about the Alaska Independence party being tied to Iran. They are the secessionist group Palin praised for their "good work" just this year.
I think her actions go beyond praise.
This video you linked regarding Sarah and Todd Palin's obvious close connection to the Alaska Independence Party is right up there with the Rev. Muthee tape showing him "laying hands" on Sarah.
I've been trying to figure out who she really is, and by Gosh I think I've got it! She's the freakin' ANTI-CHRIST!!!
And who'd a thunk it would be a pitbull with lipstick???
Things just keep getting curiouser and curiouser.
(BTW, I just sent the video mentioned to Obama).
Ugly is not a strong enough word. I'm not sure there is a strong enough word. Fuck the lot of these people!
In his Newsweek piece, Sam Harris wrote,
For proof, look no further than this idiotic, Republican-made (it just has to be) video, and marvel at their definition of "agenda journalist." (What the hell do they think they're doing with this ambush of Katie Couric, anyway?)
Fuck'em. Fuck'em all.
it was a tmz vid
tmz is apolitical
and tmz hires the dumbest paparazzi
time to refer to these clowns as mccain's 'songbirds'.
If ditsy Palin is going to be so nasty to the press perhaps they should not cover her anymore and give her any free press. She is so trashy she makes me sick.
Wouldn't play with people's emotions to get elected. He also would not piss off the press less than a month before election day. John McCain is stepping into full Nazi mode and the thing of it is he is not very good at it. In fact from here i can't tell if he is very good at anything.
By their mere actions, these two hate mongers have reduced people to their lowest form - animals! They've condoned it with their commentary and have even found themselves responsible for a legitimate death threat in Florida now being investigated by the secret service.
Shouldn't the secret service begin their investigation with the Lee County Chief Law Enforcement official who was right there introducing Palin?
Where was he in enforcing the Patriot Act by handcuffing this individual making the public death threat immediately? Surely, he would not be charged with violating the very laws he purports to enforce?
I couldn't agree with you more. Where I come from, police officers are suspended for such innuendos. Good point you brought up here. I hope someone from FL is reading these blogs or has a decdent bone in their body to do something about all this. Afterall it happened in FL, where last election there was a problem cited by Gore and Bush on illegal counting of ballots or something. Right? Now I understand FL. They haven't come into the 21st century yet. Still behind in their views of this world and the people who live in it. Don't people move to FL to get away from paying their fair share in estate and state income taxes???? Enough said....
OBAMA-BIDEN - Vote on Nov. 4th!
Since Pathetic Palin seems to not realize that when she makes false accusations, she only shoots herself in the foot and people discover her real skeletons in the closet.
Check this one out: The AIP (Alaska Independence Party, aka Alaska Secessionist movement, actually had ties to Iran. Yes, real ties, according to this article and evidence.
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.c...
Let's watch Sarah now rail against Iran, whom she and her husband supported, in favor of Israel, shall we??
This Moose is cooked - over-cooked!
Nowhere!
Knock it off, please.
Would you please point to the sentence, the word or reference that associates this organization with Iran? I don't see it.
You say: The Moose is cooked...
Palin loves Moose burgers, moose stew, etc. Good, she'll be eating her own words soon,,,hope she likes them as much!
OBAMA-BIDEN - Vote Nov. 4th!
That a potential leader of the country allows (and by staying silent, encourages) these comments, shows how backward of a country we are. That's what happens when any sign of intelligence is immediately dismissed as "elitist." I know of no where else in the world where people want their leaders to be idiots.
Yep, you can't make this stuff up - Palin is the "gift that keeps on giving".. Here are her connections via AIP to a pro-Iran agenda.
http://www.americablog.com/2008/10/palins-pal...
Seems she's got a lot of 'splainin' to american jews right now. She's a double talking liar.
They had to find a country that would give them a venue at the UN hardly a close association. I don't agree with these people but they are hardly supporters of Iran. They just went through the list of nations to find a sponsor. Not enough of a connection to mean anything except politically.
they consorted with iran so as to spew america hate
they are therefore enemies of the state
todd palin...enemy of the state
sarah palin fucks an enemy of the state
therefore, she is a fucking enemy of the state
treasonous bastards
'And you ask these questions and the only answer you get is an angry barrage of insults"????
McCain's losing it, in public.
Sarah Palin,
She was just a "Face in the Crowd"
You got that right.... and good ole' Lonesome Rhodes got his in the end. I hope Palin's ends up on Nov. 4th at 7 p.m. CST
They're inciting lynch mobs.
Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric’s questions for her “less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media.”
Typical .........Those backing an absolute moron generally tend to be just as stupid , if not even moreso , than the individual that they support.....
Palins more popular then McCain. Check out the wing nut boards and you'll see what I mean.
I periodically opt to torture myself to see what the wingers are saying.
They loves them some stupid Palin. McCain is barely a mention.
I don't get why people would want to remain ignorant for an entire lifetime. Much less subservient to a Sarah Palin.
It's horny dumbshit guys and the uber religious.
Nothing else makes sense.
The more extreme and more overtly they let their racism show the more undecideds will either vote Obama or not at all.
Its not like there are undecided klansmen out there ya know?
Plus it just further pushes any non-racist conservatives out of the party or at least also not to vote.
And it just keeps watering down the conservative movement.
Welcome to my wonderful State. It's a damn shame people have to be so fucking stupid. I've lived with this racist bullshit all of my life, and I'm sick of it. I guess that's why I laugh when people say racism isn't happening and anyone with half-a-fucking brain knows better. The sad part is, North Fl. is even more racist than the area Palin was speaking in.
Also, anyone that isn't worried about the bald headed sheriff that got up on stage, in uniform no less, and shouted down Obama should just go back to American Idol and leave the real work to us. Anybody else notice the row of kids sitting behind him? That's the next group of Republicans in training I guess. Anyway. Thanks, that is all.
Obama/Biden '08
Their all over the place. Not just your state.
That's true, I just don't get out much.
But Fl. and Ga. has to rank near the top of the list for this kind of shit.
over the next few decades, it's goign to be tougher and tougher for left leaning politicians to get elected. At the rate these neo conservatives are breeding coupled with decreasing education levels, this nation will be completely run by joe-sixpacks in less than 30 years.
You're right New

I won't be able to handle this format for the debate. It will be way too overwhelming to constantly scroll up and down page after page.
I'll read up on it all tomorrow.
If you change the format it's displayed in to "flat" it is not necessary to scroll. It's the little icon at the end of the submit new comment bar.
I don't have any of those options mentioned below. Is it my browser or something? Why can't it all be made easier for those of us who aren't full-time bloggers?
You just have to register. I just found this out today. To register all you have to give is your screen name and email address. Same as posting.
Thanks a lot. Now I see it.
You are welcome!
Then you get options...which are worth far more here than on Wall Street these days. :D
You'll get a new comments button at the bottom of the screen. Click that and all the new comments will be highlighted in red.
Highlighted in red.
instead of copy & paste. Your comment will nest right under MsJoanne's (like mine is doing here), and she'llsee it when she clicks on the new comments tab at the bottom of the screen.
Just hitting reply will mean you have to scroll back. If responding and you copy and paste it will put the comment and your reply at the bottom of the page.
Use the "New Comment" button, you can see when someone has answered you.

Exactly what crime(s) did William Ayers get convicted of? If none, does he have any potential to sue for defamation of character... naming McCain, Palin, Scarborough, et al?? To publicly name someone a "terrorist", is that not defaming?
While I may not agree with some methods, those truly were difficult times back in the 60's when young Americans were trying to find their voice. If you think about it, their models for not liking stuff could very well have been the likes of the KKK... you know, those folks that sat in the first pew in church and then burned homes, churches, crosses, etc. based on not liking someones color or religion. But I digress.....
So... should Obama ask the question.... Who are you charging with terrorism?
Obama camp cites SC school invites to Ayers
By SEANNA ADCOX – 1 hour ago
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Barack Obama's campaign is citing the University of South Carolina's speaking invitations to William Ayers and Republican Gov. Mark Sanford's role as school trustee to counter GOP efforts to link the presidential candidate to the 1960s radical.
The governor dismissed the effort as "totally bogus" and said he never heard of Ayers.
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has said Obama was "palling around with terrorists" and referred to Ayers, an education professor. Ayers helped found the violent Weather Underground group, whose members were blamed for several bombings when Obama was 8. Obama has denounced Ayers' radical views and activities.
The two men live near each other in Chicago, and once worked on the same charity board. Ayers hosted a small, meet-the-candidate event for Obama in 1995, at the start of his political career, but multiple news accounts have said they are not close.
In an e-mail to reporters, the Obama campaign said Ayers is a "distinguished scholar" at the University of South Carolina, where Sanford serves as the ex-officio trustee while governor.
"By Governor Palin's standards, that means Governor Sanford shares Ayers' views," the e-mail read.

You see that! If Obama was a real American and not a gosh-darn terrrrrist, he would have stopped them...um, wait a minute...
Please see the sarcasm.
If McCain and Palin were true human beings...nope, let me stop right there.
These two clowns knew what they were doing when they lit this fire. Yet they'll claim ZERO responsibility while still holding the matches.
Makes you wonder what Planet these lizards originated from doesn't it?

at this point, ANYone who votes republican cannot be taken seriously.
just say it. tell it like it is.
In all seriousness: what the hell is going on?!? How is this allowed to happen and sanctioned by presidential candidates?!?
I'm suddenly very scared.
The U.S. has basically gone nut's-insane.
What do you mean "gone"? All that is happening is the stripping away of the thin veneer of civility under which you thought you lived to reveal the hideously rotten, racist structure beneath. America hasn't "gone" anything, this is what America IS.
I said it before, I'll say it again: things will get worse towards the election and if Obama wins, I'll be amazed if he makes it to the end of his first term alive.
It's incumbent on each of us to invoke the law enforcement agencies in this country to put an immediate stop to this level of public violence being incited by these two candidates.
Their hate-filled agenda is bringing out the most repulsive qualities in americans and resulting in violations of the Patriot Act by death threats during their speeches....which they do nothing to stop, incidentally so, by error of omission, they are equally quilty under the law.
Why the individual who shouted the death threat during the rally in Lee County, Florida where Sheriff Michael Scott actually introduced Palin with his obvious "slur of Obama's middle name" to incite violence was not immediately handcuffed by this law enforcement official who was right there is beyond my comprehension. Was this not a public and flagrant violation of the Patriot Act?
What the hell is going on in this country while these candidates fan the flames of hatred and violence? What the hell is going on with our law enforcement agencies that this man in uniform is permitted to provide the "sheild of safety" wherein hate and death threats are launched in his presence?
This is a horrendous miscarriage of justice and everyone needs to write to our law enforcement agencies to stop the McCain campaigns 'incitement to violence' to end.

================================
Use a line or something to separate
So John McCain goes on as business as usual while domestic "terrorists" (under the Patriot act this they would be classified as) make public death threats to candidates under "his watch". What does this tell us about the real character of the man?
I believe it tells us that he is not man enough to stop his conversation and call out the audience for engaging in terrorist activities. I believe it tells us that he enjoys it; that is, the fact that these people so obviously hate his opponent that they would threaten to murder him while he sits there smiling coyly at them. What??
How far has this country descended down the rabbit hole that a candidate for president condones the obvious breaching of federal law at a rally sponsored and controlled by him and his party?
How far have we gone as human beings to not realize that something is radically wrong with this picture?
If the Republicans had their way, violence in the streets would be the norm - this is patently clear.
It's time to repudiate this level of "candidate sponsored violence and violation of our domestic terrorist laws" by writing to every law enforcement agency in this country.
It's "time" for the people to stand up and take action to bring this illegal, hate-mongering to a full and complete stop and to bring Sheriff Michael Joseph Scott to the justice he deserves under the laws he purportes to enforce.
No, and I never would. :D
You ain't seen nothin' 'til you've seen ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER.

Momentary Lapse of Reason
And we all need a moment or two a year. I think if it's only a couple...we're doing a damned good job of maintaining. :)
This is disgraceful behavior for two people seeking to run this country that they would incite violence in their rallies and otherwise condone it by their inaction.
This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that these divisive hate-filled individuals have no business running a candy store no less running a country.
They're disgusting and repulsive to the core of their being.
From the news of the British gentleman being shot for his shirt to this latest stuff happening on the McCain/Palin campaign, all I can say is that this is very sad as it is not very surprising. The latest stories demonstrate the continued depiction of their rotten characters. Their behaviors alone show their pettiness, racism and ignorance of the implications of what will be done to race-relations in this country after their hateful diatribes.
They both make me so sick. I cannot believe that it took a day later for the Secret Service to find the folks who are calling for Mr. Obama's death.
All I can say is that there is a special place in Hell for McCain and Palin.
The base.
Isn't that what al quaeda translates as?
I totally agree, but at this point they have nothing to lose. Certainly not the election. They have already lost that and they know it. The tanking economy is an anvil around their necks. Their only hope is rage and chaos. Perhaps they can stop the election if riots break out across the nation? McCain should be removed from office.
McCain and Palin are again the party of smear and fear. So, after the election what do they do with all of this hate? Do they think it will turn off? Bush pushed the envelope of hatred and fear that separates the republicans from the democrats in a hopeless battle without compromise. McCain is doing the same thing. The end justifies the means. Burn down the house and claim ownership. This campaign proves what an old fool McCain is and the bimbo Palin is. I hope tonight someone will speak up with disgust at his campaign.
With Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Savage, et al, going ape shit over those socialist, pinko, commie, DEMOCRATS? We should be so lucky that they would all fall off the face of the earth.
Mestinks it interesting that reichwingers are predicting minorities will riot when Obama loses

I believe that every civil rights agency in this country needs to unite to stop the McCain campaign from it's evil, hate-filled rhetoric in the public arena. This instigation by Palin has gone far beyond simply innuendo to outright calling for death threats and terrorist activities.
Clearly, every rally has gotten progressively more violent over which Palin and McCain have presided and done nothing. Tacitly, they've condoned it.
It's time for every civil rights agency to bring suit against the GOP,RNC and the McCain/Palin campaign in the name of all americans to "cease and desist" their violence-inciting rhetoric since they're resulting in criminal death threats at this point. If they refuse to do so, their campaign needs to be summarily and immediately shut down under The Patriot Act.

watching a mccain or palin rally reminds me of what a kkk rally would look like so sad
why surprised
At a time in our history when emotions and passions are running high, fear has been our presidents mantra for 8 years and an election that will change our country is just a few weeks away, the majority of Americans are of the opinion that our country is heading in the wrong direction and are looking for a leader to unite us once again. What we are getting from the repubic (yes i meant re-pubic)party is a raising of the level of hate and fear directed toward the candidate in the opposion party. When crowds are yelling "terrorist" to mcCain and "kill him" to Pailin within ear shot of them and the microphones, it is their duty to speak out against such threats and statements generated by their supporters. There should be no silence from them to the outspoken hate they are igniting in the right wing supporters that still believe in all the fear they have been taught since 9/11. The McCain camp is not energizing the base, they are infact insighting what could very easily grow into a real and present danger to a presidential candidate. This threat is not to his chances at victory, the reason these hateful talking points have begun from McCain is because the chance of harming Obamas progress towards victory grow slimmer everyday. The true threat is that this level of hate, at this time in our history when so much fear and loathing has been brewed and bottled up time and again must be viewed as increasing the chanse that someone will go to far and cause serious harm. McCain is placing his opponent and our country on a very dangerous and slippery slope. But he shows no care or understanding of this as he appears to be so blinded by his personal desire for acheiving his untimate goal in his last chance in life. He has sold his dignity, honor, integrity, past and very soul to come this close just to get to this point. He can not see what is so loudly visible and audible right before his very eyes.
Why do they keep saying that the town hall format benefits McC. This seem to imply that Obama is at a disadvantage in this format. He seems personable enough. Seems to me the repubs are building huge expectations for Johnny tonight.
He has to come through in a big way to not lose in a big way. Whether he can win remains to be seen.
He has Brokaw on his side (McCain's own personal tool) who gets to pick the questions, so it is unlikely we will get any questions which will trigger McCain having a meltdown (I would pay to see that...one good piss-him-off-big-time question). But it's not going to happen.
I thought the audience of 80 undecideds gets to ask the questions?
but Brokaw gets to select what questions are asked. The person cannot change their question. mcCain and Obama cannot speak to each other. No follow up questions will be asked unless Brokaw deems they should be asked and only he will ask them.
I think it sounds fucked up. But what do I know?
I am just confused, I have heard they could confront each other , whatever that means. They can even wander the stage.

Rednecks and Religious Radicals are the contemporary terrorist in modern American society. These ignorant, undereducated, superstitious sub-humans have no place in today's world. Nobody in their bloodline survived these are zombies sent to curse us.
Disgraceful and the Repukes love every second of it! I live in a college town in Florida and we are surrounded by these types for ten to twelve counties. A blue island in a sea of rednecks! My town has people of every color, that are some of the smartest folks on the face of the planet and yet these subhumans harass them. Hell I'm white and get harassed by the bastards because I choose to wear a braid in my hair that is a few feet long.
When will folks learn that we are all one and the same? A 35cent bullet can kill any of us. . .
See how flummoxed McCain gets when the audience member yells, "Terrorist!"? He's not expecting anyone to actually give voice to this idea. He's just using that well-worn Republican tactic of insinuation. See, everyone in the audience was supposed to think terrorist, but to yell it out robs them of their deniability. This is incitement pure and simple, and may God help them. McCain used to be admirable, became old, angry and worn-out, and now he is dangerous.

Unfortunately, my country has lost a lot of brain power in the last 20 or 30 years.
just have landed from another planet. This country voted (allowed to steal an election) for Bush Twice.
I just moved out of a place I lived in where the homeowner is an intelligent, well-educated architect who's in danger of losing his job and home due to the current economic crisis. Yet he still watches O'Reilly and Fox News every night and, as far as I know, will vote Republican. The need to be spoon-fed garbage goes beyond religious wingnuttery into deeply underlying desires that I can't explain. I just know that some people are not looking for truth or peace in their lives, or even competence from their leaders. They seem to want to keep putting up roadblocks to keep their country from moving forward.
Barack Obama is no Bill Ayers...
But then, neither is he, anymore...
I just left a message with the SPLC and asked them to take action on this matter. I suggest others do the same.
