On MSNBC's Countdown, David Shuster called out FOX News and Dick Armey for astroturfing the tax party teabaggers...

Can we roll that footage, the FOX News coverage of the Million Man March backing in October of ‘95?Of course, the Million Man March occurred, as NewsHounds.org points out, almost a year before FOX News was on the air.We can only speculate why widespread teabagging made Cavuto think of the Million Man March, unless he got them confused with Dick Armey. And in Cavuto‘s defense, if you are planning simultaneous teabagging all around the country, you‘re going to need a Dick Armey.

Heather posted the full version last night with some very astute insight from Lawrence O'Donnell. Make sure you check out his thoughts.

Heather and the Video Cafe crew have been posting a tremendous amount of videos. Make sure to stop by...

I understand that this movement is all about trying to reorganize the conservative movement because they have become a rudderless tanker lost at sea, but even their attempts at "grass roots" is a Gingrich/Rove/Armey/FOX News driven event.

Pat Garafola writes:

Do those attending tea parties truly oppose Obama returning the top marginal tax rate to where it was under President Clinton? Are they really concerned that multi-national corporations may have to pay taxes on profits they earn overseas? Or are they simply following Fox News’ cheerleading, straight into the waiting arms of Dick Armey?

Truly a herd of sheep being led by wolves in sheep's clothing.

attention from these infantile preoccupations to saving its own ass?

It amazes me that people can be so pitiable, yet so detestable at the same time.

We have one major weapon now that we did not have for a long time. Videos of what actually happened and easy access to them. It is so funny to watch what they say and then "let's go to the video" for what actually happened. The truth is killing them. In the past it was easy to just deny what you had said. It is a little more difficult to deny your own words when you have to watch them.

The seething, underlying racial tension is undeniable.

I was trying to eat before I played this!

Really over the top with the dick jokes, c'mon MSNBC!

Milk came out my nose I was laughing so hard.

melamine in the milk.

Heh heh...heh heh.....

You said, "hard."

heh heh..

Heh Heh...heh..

you said "Milk"

you said "came"

against a return to the previous "normal" that we will be lucky, in another eighteen months to still find ourselves speaking English.

Krugman: 'Right-wing billionaires...manufactured' tea parties
Published: April 12, 2009

Last but not least: it turns out that the tea parties don’t represent a spontaneous outpouring of public sentiment. They’re AstroTurf (fake grass roots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects. In particular, a key role is being played by FreedomWorks, an organization run by Richard Armey, the former House majority leader, and supported by the usual group of right-wing billionaires. And the parties are, of course, being promoted heavily by Fox News.

The left-wing billionaires need to get the message and start supporting a few of these things. Instead of being shameless tightwads.

No need....George Soros personally finances all "liberal" causes and people.

Didn't you get the talking points?? :)

except put money in his own pocket.

You

know this how?
Put up or shut up.

In response to the Soros theory etc., it always seems that the conservative movement fights imaginary dragons on the left when they're filled with ACTUAL dragons. In the '90s, they imagined the entire media as a partisan mouthpiece, so with Fox News they fought it with...an ACTUAL partisan mouthpiece. They think Keith Olbermann is a crazy paranoid drama queen, so with Glenn Beck they fight him with...an ACTUAL crazy paranoid drama queen. And they proclaim MSNBC (and therefore NBC, and therefore GE) as a well-organized and well-funded left wing machine, even though with Fox et al, they have an ACTUAL well-organized, well-funded right-wing machine. You just watch - if the idea came out that Obama strangled kittens as a sacrifice to JFK, right-wingers are going to start strangling kittens as a sacrifice to Ronald Reagan.

What was the point of spamming his address 3 different times? We can all manage a whois search I think.

And sure, I've heard about the tea parties before this recent Fox news blitz too, doesn't mean it's not all artificial hype.

members of the rightwing ruling class were devising this smokescreen for months... well before faux news started reporting on it

good point, faux news is, once again, merely just a mouthpiece for the rightwing ruling class, not the leaders of

and, i also agree that the hype isn't artificial: its real hype

Homeland Security Warns of Rightwing Extremists

Better go get some fake tattoo's and a ball cap so you don't become a traget.

The report concludes that the DHS will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months to find out more about rightwing extremists activity in the United States “with a particular emphasis on the political, economic, and social factors that drive rightwing extremist radicalization.”

also. Ya'll I saw some moonbats all run down dat way!!!

Was they {Edited} Or was they socialists? Or both!?

{SiteMonitor}

A scooter from FRANCE?!?

No shit, they's librul socialists!!

FYI the word that was edited was meant to point out the ignorant racism of these teabaggers, and their degrading terms. Use your imagination...

I saw this last night and LOVED it!!!!

Can't get enough teabagging jokes!

Anyone who loves double entendres is having a ball.
(:p)

The repigs are just gonna have to suck it up - they lost.

haha ... too funny!

tomorrow in hopes of avoiding alla deze

tiny little tea leaves.

What gives with teabagging to protest the pork of Dick Armey?

And who REALLY killed Cock Robin?

Maybe Soros ought to do this, just to show the irony of this Faux Protest.

The working class protesting to protect Bush's tax breaks for the rich. Isn't that...rich.

Boston, December 16, 1773.

If conservative leaders no longer even try to offer serious solutions to national problems, nobody should underestimate their capacity or their will to mobilize angry Americans. Behind the April 15 "tea parties" rallying against President Barack Obama's economic program - promoted as a new phenomenon by Fox News Channel and right-wing bloggers - stands a phalanx of Republicans whose ideology is all too familiar.

and they are going "nuts" for it..."

How he said that with a straight face, I'll never know...

That's the best coverage FOX News has ever had. I wish they would go back to that type of reporting.

Honestly! As far as Fox was concerned, I thought it was about as fair and balanced as we could have possibly hoped from them.

I laughed really loud when I heard that. Keep in mind there are a lot of Americans who won't get that joke. Heck, a few days ago I wouldn't have gotten the joke. I think that's why MSNBC let it slide.

Maybe Cheney will go and together with Armey there will be a pair of Dicks and 2 sets of tea bags.

If anyone's tea bags need steeping Larry Craig should be there.

Aka: The Million Man Munch!

repost: I will be driving around with a pound of coffee tomorrow and any tea party i see will be followed with me throwing some of the coffee on the ground and telling these people to wake up.

Tomorrow, the right-wingers attending these "Tea Parties" might as well have "nuts in their mouths and d*** in their faces" because they won't (I hope) change a thing.

Happy Tax Day everyone!

"And in Cavuto‘s defense, if you are planning simultaneous teabagging all around the country, you're going to need a Dick Armey."

C&L it is 'Dick Army' not 'Dick Armey' a play on words and a XXX slap by Shuster across Rupert Murdoch's face.

For those who need edjumacated 'teabagging' is a sexual act involving the scrotum and a willing smile. In Murdoch's case a gagging frown.

This is what makes Shuster's comment all the more hilarious.

Go back and re-read the transcript posted above.

I like the last sentence of Shuster's quote. And, yes, he's quite right. If you are planning simultaneous teabagging all around the country, you will certainly need an army of dicks.

His comments were clearly tongue in cheek

LOL

Going to need an Army of Dicks.

What can be said about events planned by a group called Freedomworks. Clearly, the founders of the group should be known as those whose brains don't work. The issue in revolutionary days was "no taxation without representation", it wasn't "no taxation". We need to move on. Let the goofs protest their taxes. All of the people at the events will be the poor dupes who still think that the rich Repugs will let them into their country clubs just because they vote Republican. You cannot fix stupid. The Republican Party's EEG is flatline.

Believe it or not I saw this at Videogum before I saw it here and was impressed by the level of innuendos Shuster managed to spit out. Either he has no idea what he's talking about and, like Ron Burgundy, he just reads anything and everything on the prompter...or he's JUST THAT GOOD at keeping a straight face through all of this. The inner 13-year-old in all of us salutes you, David Shuster.

Having already chewed on that salty bit of matter, it never surprises me how often conservative grassroots movements aren't really grassroots at all. The rich-get-richer, poor-get-poorer ideas don't stick organically as populist the way that liberal/progressive ideas do, so they have to be processed and spun and repurposed and sold in disguise, and if they can find anyone calling themselves a plumber to trumpet it, all the better. It's selling chicken shit as chicken salad. It's like Prop 8, which would have been killed if it weren't for the outrage sold to a lot of Christians and conservatives to keep people fighting and distracted. For something like that, you really do need a - well, a Dick Armey.

It's hard to blame brainwashed Reslugs that are brought up being dumbed down and lied too from people they think love them. Now being uneducated, ignorant adults, they are totally lost and forced to listen to even more ignorant idiots, like Faux Noise.
