Glenn Beck has been a treasure trove of unintended hilarity over the years and C&L has taken full advantage. Now that he's at Fox News and he's free to let his freak flag fly, Glenn's true colors come shining through.
I saw this clip at Americablog and I couldn't think of a more fitting wingnut clip to show on the day of Barack Obama's historic inauguration than Beck getting choked up introducing the person who will most likely go down as one of the biggest punch lines in political history -- Sarah Palin.

First he mentions a poll about how many people want a religious saying to stay, then he talks about how polls shouldn't matter. Then he talks about the constitution while forgetting about the establishment claus and that whole section about protecting minority rights along with majority rights.

You know what Xoites, I remember during the campaign that you left here once or twice and then came back. It was a difficult primary. There was a lot of back and forth between the Hill people and the Obama people. It got rough. I used up a lot of emotion. Most people who come here consistently were totally spent by the time it was over. And then we had to go through the general election and listen to these assholes like Beck and Palin spew their outright lies and bullshit. there were times when we didn't know if the election was going to get stolen (because that is the only way Obama was going to lose). I didn't know for sure if I had it in me to go out and riot if they stole it. I thought I did but one never knows does one? Well we didn't have to and it has been a great few months even though it is going to be very difficult for a lot of people before we get out of this mess. At least we now have hope. In more ways than one. Your example of hope is just one of many we have now.
My desire for a working Democracy and Republic precludes rioting and violence. We get nowhere through violence. Look at Obama embrace the military and their families. Look at him embrace the Republicans. You do not change the world by punishing your enemies. You change the world by making your enemies your friends.

I watched the whole show. It's like watching a train wreck. First he had Ben Stein, who totally shot him down on the economy while sipping on a latte, then he had Joel Osteen, who could not figure out what the hell he was asking, then Ms. Palin who wouldn't shut up long enough for him to ask another question. The production was horrible, the set was horrible, that whole overhead cam was silly. Oh yeah, and even Karly Rove told him he was wrong about the Ramos and Compian (sp) thing.
Give him 3 months. He sucks and even Fox will have to see that.
As far as his diatribe against the media before Palin got involved, Beck is missing a pretty important detail. The reason why the media only covers rapes, murders, etc. and not the days where no murders happened is because sensationalism gets more ratings than actual useful facts like what kind of legislation City Hall is working on.
None of which would matter at all if it wasn't for the fact that news became a money-making proposition rather than a service the way it originally was. When it was a service, it actually informed us. When it had to make money, it was about ratings and sensationalism (of which he's a part). So who is really responsible for that?

It's a cheap shot. Beck is not getting emotional over Palin. He "gets emotional" when he mentions his "special needs child". Those of you with children, what is your reaction when you think of your child in pain or suffering? It would be too easy to say that people without children wouldn't understand. The truth is that it isn't an excuse.
Yes, it's fun to be callow and crass and to mock someone who is showing emotion. Let's just laugh at what is on the surface without thinking what's underneath. As someone who doesn't have cable and is fortunate enough not to have to view these fox news idiots on a daily basis, I have to say that this clip of Glen Beck (who?) now makes me wonder if he shouldn't replace Hannity as #1 f***nut in my personal hall of shame.
...yea, he's obviously crying about his special needs kid. he says it within the first ten seconds. want to know the only thing its not cool to laugh at Glen Beck over? yea, this. you're all ridiculous, or didn't bother turning the sound on.

This guy really is a freak. A total freak. Like so many other pundits, he talks as if he represents a large group of people. I am an atheist and proud of it. This ahole does not speak for me when he says that 89% of Americans can all agree on God. What a fucking joke. Hasn't this jerk ever heard that we live in a multicultural, multireligious society. Or is it that this fascist would rather just ignore that inconvenient fact, and. if he could, would probably kill everyone who doesn't believe in the same shit he believes.
Come on, people. This is just cold and crass. As much as I disagree with Beck and know how much of a joke Palin is, this is just wrong. I don't know whether you should be more ashamed for doing it, or because you may not even realize it. The man wasn't tearing over Palin, he was tearing about his own special needs child. It is perverted to politicize that. Even if he did it himself, which I don't think is necessarily the case. Poke at him for what he supports politically, but be above child-like bully behavior. I am as liberal as it gets, so I'm not trying to defend him on any other front. But, I have worked with disabled people my whole life and I can tell you, being a right-wing nut job has nothing to do with the emotions stirred up from a parent while discussing a topic with such personal connection. You might as well be making fun of his child and disabled people of all kinds. You should delete, edit your comments, or apologize for this article. This is just embarrassing and counterproductive to our causes.
I am so sick of idiots defending their beliefs with anecdotes. Capitalism is not dead but it is very very sick. It is not a system that solves every problem and we have let those problems go unanswered for far too long.

This guy is so painfully LAME- I can't believe he's got an entire hour, 5 nights a week, to spew his nonsense on national tv. He's got a face you want to hit- he cuts his guests off,(not the he has anyone worthy of listening to) - he made Blago look brilliant- he laughs at his own sorry attempts at humour- what an embarassment- Fox News is more amusing than Comedy Central.
