late this afternoon.
The news of Israel's attack of the Free Gaza Flotilla in international waters last night, with the resultant murder of 19 activists and the wounding of at least 100 others, led me to this demonstration today.
The demonstration was at the Los Angeles Israeli Consulate. I grabbed my camera and headed down to La Cienega and Wilshire to attend. Here's what I saw:

when are you guys organizing a protest against the turks for their treatemnt of the kurds?
i would like to be there
wont hold my breath
I wonder if Israel sent a column of ships with aid for the Kurds
how the Turks would react. It is still illegal to publish or even possess a document written in Kurdish anywhere in Turkey.

if i were in the israeli government, i would immediately move to recognize the armenian genocide
they havent yet, because of their fragile relations with turkey.
seems turkey really doesnt care anymore...so it is time to acknowledge reality
and i demand that all kurdish children who have been arrested without charge be immediately freed
my god...they are just children
. . . because Genocide Denial is really just a matter of international relations.
Funny how it suddenly becomes a moral principal if it concerns The Holocaust. Not so much for the Armenians - or any other victims of genocide - apparently.
Corruption favors the wealthy.
...Zionists seem to dominate the mainstream media, and therefore The Holocaust is the dominant meme. Denying it, or any aspect of it (if you look in the world atlas of the 1930's, you'll find that there were only about 3 million Jews in the affected parts of Europe) is against the law.

In the past few weeks the balance of power has shifted in the Middle East, with Russia and Turkey brokering a nuclear agreement with Iran and Russian President Medyedev pledging, in Syria, to further the broken Peace Process, chastising the US for dropping the ball.
In the aftermath of the Russia-Turkey-Iraq nuclear deal (in which Brazil played a critical role), Russia invited Turkey to join BRIC (Brazil-Russia-India-China), creating BRICT.
Turkey is also a member of NATO. Turkey now wields great power in the Middle East.
Not to be outdone the Non Proliferation Nations passed a unanimous resolution demanding Israel allow international inspection of its nuclear arsenal - with the vote of the US.
Israeli is furious, abandoned by her American protector.
And in the face of this dramatic tilt in power, the Israelis attack a Turkish flagged civilian vessel in International waters, killing or injuring dozens.
A few weeks ago the US was calling for UN sanctions against Iran. Now neither China nor Russia, key votes on the Security Council, will back those sanctions.
Now it is more likely the UN will sanction Israel.

before the un gets to israel....there is a list of nations they should go after...i just named three
Iraq was in the US security zone. It's a mighty big zone.

but I try to keep it under control. For the record I think what the IDF did was, on the face of it, a colossal mistake. And it's going to cost the Israelis a lot. It should. There may have been some hotheads on those ships but there were a lot of people of goodwill. I withhold judgment on how stupid it was until exactly what happened becomes known.
Hasa Diga Eebowai
those people of goodwill knew exactly what could happen, as those international ism operatives who chose to work as human shields in gaza knew.
for months, israel urged the leaders of the flotilla to land in ashdod and have the aid moved by land...as all aid has been
they refused...because this wasnt an aid mission
it was a mission to either confront israel...or show it to be a paper tiger....so israel was in a lose/lose situation
they should not have used a commando raid...knowing full well what could happen
but any other tact taken would still have been used against them.
your comments today about the Israeli attack on the flotilla, I have to come to the conclusion that you are a zionist.
for i live in the comfort of los angeles, california
and anyone who chooses to live in the comfort of los angeles california, is no zionist
what i am is an observer of blatant hypocracy throughout this world
a world which judges one country more harshly than all others.
basically, because despite its perceived military strength, that country is too small to fight back.
Zionism like fascism has no boundries.
Joe Biden says he's a Zionist and he sure doesn't live in Israel.
If a drone kills a child in Kandahar, do the crying parents make a sound?
Your defense of Israel's actions seem to boil down to:
"Well they can't be wrong since the guys they attacked were stupid and the people that backed them were wrong too."
My parents raised me to believe that two wrongs do not make a right. Two wrongs and a stupid still don't make a right.
i said they knew exactly what they were getting into
israel was wrong...ok?
they shouldnt have done a commando raid...they knew who was on the flotilla and what they really meant to do
but those on board were not naive.
my god, they named one of the ships, the rachel corrie.
And yes, it was a PR set-up. Still too bad they took the bait.
The Israeli raid on the flotilla was stupid, stupid, stupid. It was an obvious set-up and they took the bait.
I didn't know that the flotilla had another way to get relief to Gaza, that changes things. It means that this was a political dare, and that their interests really weren't about getting aid to the people who need it.
P.S I'm getting fed up with the Jew hate some of the people here on this website have. I'm talking about the clear examples of it, not the with/against Israeli replies. A few more people have been added to my ignore list.
You state:
The Israeli raid on the flotilla was stupid, stupid, stupid. It was an obvious set-up and they took the bait.
Which was my only point, and yet say I'm wrong.
Then you throw the red herring of "Jew hate" where I do not believe in this thread or any other I have used any terms other than "Israel" or more specifically in some "Israel, the current government". That is a legal international state, and refers only to the current leadership of said state. Just as when I used the term "the US" or "US, current administration" I refer to political actions of that country, and specifically under Obama. This is standard terminology, and not rocket science.
And I've freely given the points that the flotilla, Turks had their own agenda and stupidity and wrongs. I just didn't understand why that excused Israel's own error.
I'll state to you why I make this point about Israel's actions, and if you decide that makes me a Jew hater, then I welcome addition to your ignore list as I primarily come here for intelligent discussion.
People that currently support Israel, or at least feel it has the moral high ground, will see this attack as a reason to have less support for the current government of Israel. They may already hate all the other players too, that is immaterial. The risk is that Israeli sympathizers will decide this action costs Israel the moral high ground and add the current Israeli government administration to the long list of middle east governments that aren't worth supporting.
I would say as an American, after Bush's actions cost the US the same perception under his administration that the concept would be clear. Stating that should neither make me one who "hates Americans" nor a "Jew hater".
"Which was my only point, and yet say I'm wrong."
I wasn't talking to you.
"Then you throw the red herring of "Jew hate" <...> "
The other thread where this was discussed had comments such as:
"jews are good with fiddlin numbers"
There were more, and Ron right above us called walter a "zion jew". There are also the dog whistles I have seen, of the very same nature everyone here likes to criticize the right-wing for making. The hypocrisy is amazing.
I have also seen this behavior on liberal channels like The Young Turks. There is a very serious problem. If I didn't know any better I'd say that jews are to democrats what blacks are to republicans. This whole thing has been quite revealing. And depressing.
a zionist may not actually work in the best interests of the Jewish people and I did not call him a zion jew.
you from my ignore list just to see what you could possibly say in your defense. You said:
"I have to come to the conclusion that you are a zionist."
You edited your reply to remove "jew"? Hilarious. Putting you back on ignore, please do not attempt to reply to me further Ron. Have a nice day.
and possibly a zionist.
That dude is HILARIOUS...On the ZZ Top tip, I met Billy Gibbons at a coffee shop in Venice Beach - surprisingly short and slight. He was wearing a jacket with L'Art Primitif du Sud Afrique on the back, and I asked if he liked African art. Yes, he lived in SA for several years and became a big fan of both primitive and contemporary folk art. I said 'Follow me, I want you to meet someone,' and he did! We chatted about music on the way a bit (I'm a singer/songwriter) and then I introduced him to a buddy named Fortune who sold art on the Boardwalk, folksy representations in paint, sand, metal and wood of his old shanty town outside of Jo'burg. Billy bought 3 large pieces from Fortune, and could not have been nicer. I bumped into him later that night at a local restaurant and he waved me over to his table and bought me a drink, thanking me for introducing him to such a great artist...A very cool cat!!
That was great....the guitar and bass were just this boring zombie like drone and the drummer is doing this three ring circus act and as a drummer myself I gotta say, DAMN! I wish i had flashy chopps like that.
Yeah, that's the best stick showmanship I've ever seen. Funny, if you were just listening to a recording of this, you'd never know what your missing.

AP: Relief for Gulf is [at least] 2 months away with another well
NEW ORLEANS — The best hope for stopping the flow of oil from the blown-out well at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico has been compared to hitting a target the size of a dinner plate with a drill more than two miles into the earth, and is anything but a sure bet on the first attempt. ..
"The probability of them hitting it on the very first shot is virtually nil," said David Rensink, incoming president of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, who spent most of his 39 years in the oil industry in offshore exploration. "If they get it on the first three or four shots they'd be very lucky." ..
For the relief well to succeed, the bore hole must precisely intersect the damaged well. If it misses, BP will have to back up its drill, plug the hole it just created, and try again.
The trial-and-error process could take weeks, but it will eventually work, scientists and BP said. Then engineers will then pump mud and cement through pipes to ultimately seal the well. ..
On the slim chance the relief well doesn't work, scientists weren't sure exactly how much — or how long — the oil would flow. The gusher would continue until the well bore hole collapsed or pressure in the reservoir dropped to a point where oil was no longer pushed to the surface ..

some european country makes drillers drill two concurrently to ensure that the pressure can be relieved quickly and the well capped off.
BTW, the AAPG is an oil front, right? it reads like they are pre-excusing BP.
Some stuff you can't make up!
The extra holes come right off the bottom line. These companies can't survive on barely obscene profits. That's un-American!
Well I just checked out their website, and they look like a legitimate professional organisation, not a front.
American Association of Petroleum Geologists
And what he says - that the drill is not likely to hit the existing shaft at the first try - certainly sounds reasonable.
And his assessment - it could take weeks of probing to hit that shaft - also sounds reasonable. Which means that August is the earliest the relief well could be complete. That's when the weeks of probing BEGIN.
But the scary question not addressed in this article is the possibility (certainty?) that more oil is escaping into the Gulf than can be accounted for by the leaks in the broken riser, which casts doubts as to whether sealing the shaft from below will stanch the entire flow.
Democracy is too important to be entrusted to politicians.

They are dilettantes.
that you are going to say they aren't asshats either.
How ya doin Xiotes?
Most of the policies the Tea Baggers are protesting were in place when Bush was in office, but they were nowhere to be found. Activists are active. These people crawl under their rocks when the Republicans are in power so they can have asshats refitted.

Most South Carolina Governor Candidates Stand Firm On Flying Confederate Flag
First Posted: 05-31-10 10:56 AM | Updated: 05-31-10 11:01 AM
(AP) - Only two of the six Democrat and Republican governor hopefuls say they would consider moving the Confederate flag that flies in front of the South Carolina Statehouse.
The flag has been in place since 2000 after a deal was brokered to move it from the Statehouse dome and the House and Senate chambers. Now the banner flutters beside a monument to Confederate soldiers, in view of a busy intersection in the capital city.
The candidates vying to replace term-limited Republican Gov. Mark Sanford shared their views on the perennial issue in recent interviews with The Associated Press. For his part, Sanford made it clear early on that he wouldn't spend political capital on an issue he believes was resolved before he took office.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Sixteen months into his administration, President Obama has established himself as Wimp-in-Chief. While he ran on a platform of “change”, the extent of the change has (thankfully) been the return to normalcy from the lunacy of the Cheney/Bush administration. Those of us who went door-to-door to convince voters to select Mr. Obama expected bold, progressive change. Instead we got a good leader, but one who could best be categorized as a moderate Republican on the political spectrum.

i had to watch other videos and then go to their website and then go to the steve moore website, then myspace--i had to see. this showboating is giving him a non-stop stream of tour dates, endorsements, and sponsors. he even talks about how this came to be on his myspace page. it is a very interesting story to say the least and it is done with purpose.
nonetheless...
i still find it disturbing.
