lying about ACORN by the RNC is un-american. ACORN finds the false registration cards themselves. this
is an old strategy. mccain should be ashamed of himself.

McCain is actively trying to set the stage for anti-democrat and anti-black violence in November should Obama win. And this man says he will reach across the aisle? Only if a noose is on the other side, I think.

Someone should point out to McCain that he will be held personally responsible for any violence. He should be investigated right now for the intent....

if there's disruptions, violence, etc, it will be blamed on 'a few bad apples.'

Nah, it will be blamed on Obama for dividing the nation and rigging the elections.

Bush will then declare a state of emergency. Mukasey will launch investigations that will determine the election was invalid, Democrats in congress will fight it, Bush will call the democrats "insurgents" and that they are attempting a coup, I will get to live in a "re-education camp" that Limbaugh will say is better than a country club, etc.

on the FINANCIAL beach transfixed by the strangeness of the event as the water recedes and the sea floor is exposed and all kinds of exotic creatures are seen thrashing in the mud, while the skeletons of historic wrecks are exposed to view, and a great stench of organic decay wafts toward the strand.

Anyone care to go with me?

Didn't think so

"Denied black relative urges McCain to accept ancestry

The McCain family has a proud tradition in the United States. They fought for integration of the south, resisted the Ku Klux Klan, led civil rights campaigns and left a lasting mark on the politics of Mississippi.

But, despite contradictory statements made by Sen. John McCain, that branch of his family was once owned as slaves by the candidate's ancestors

On Monday morning's CNN Newsroom, reporter Kyra Phillips talked with Wall Street Journal's Atlanta Bureau Chief Douglas Blackmon and Lillie McCain, a black relative of John McCain."

the chances of your having an unknown black relative are about 9 in 10...

Yesterday I posted how my voter registration had been changed to a different address and my party affiliation had been changed to republican. I called and got it fixed and voted yesterday for Obama/Biden. I urge all of you to check on your registrations before Nov 4th. Don't wait until you get to the polls to find out someone has fucked with your ability to vote.
Please tell everyone you know to check. I never dreamed this could happen to me. I voted in the Caucus and assumed everything was still ok. It wasn't until xoites noticed that I wasn't getting the same political "junk" mail that I thought to question my registration. This election is too important to let them steal it.

Register for anything at your own risk in this day and age.

which I agree is bad, how could they prevent you from voting for whoever you want to in a general election? I'm not being a smart aleck, I'm just trying to fully understand how this could disenfranchise you.

that the ADDRESS was changed also.

some places ask for your address to verify your identity. If the address they have doesn't match what you tell them, you're SOL.

With the address being different I wouldn't have been able to vote in my precinct. If I had waited until Nov, I would have been in a panic when my name wasn't on the rolls. The republican thing didn't matter in regards to voting in the General, it just pissed me off and had to have been done intentionally because that is the one thing they couldn't fix for me yesterday. They could not change party affiliation over the phone. They said when it was changed the "republican" box was checked. They said the address was listed as a former address. I have only been here 3 years and have only been registered at my current address. How or why this happened is anybody"s guess. I just wanted to point out that calling the registrar of voters on election day won't be as easy as it was for me yesterday.

has a link where you can check your registration is accurate and current.

I read your comment and it got me thinking. So I went into the archives. And looked at Oct 2004.
Similarities?

.
West Palm Beach voter controversy already!

Our man Mark in WPB, is reporting that many people are complaining about the electronic voting machine ie: No matter how you vote it is counted for Bush-Cheney

Mark: Many democratic voters are complaining to polling officials because their votes are being counted for Bush-Cheney! People have charged that after having completed all their votes and start the end processing, the final screen is then being counted for Bush-Cheney! It wasn't fixed until a polling official had to step in.

How is it incredibly negative to make an ad using McCain's own words?

This ugly racist stuff has been with us all along, but it seems that now they feel they have been given free rein to display it. It reminds me of the run up to the invasion of Iraq. Those who supported the war seemed to feel they were free to do or say anything to those who opposed it. No one called for common sense or cooler heads, most just looked the other way.

It's Judy Miller not Andrea Mitchell.

The link above (...overt stupidity and shameless mendacity that...)goes to Judy Miller not Andrea Mitchell.

At the Mediabloodhounds link, that story goes to Andrea Mitchell and then the "shameless mendacity" link goes to Judy Miller.

i voted early friday. it went very smooth. this yr. i did something different i registered as an Independent.
it was NOT easy for me to do but i'm currently living in a state where i don't trust the system. NOT really
based on anything concrete but i felt being registered as an Independent i would NOT get treated inappropriately. anyways early voting will be key for this election. watch for the NEW(kind of new) mccain strategy that a democrat president and democrat congress will be a one party government.

is a good example of what is seriously wrong with the U$A ...

Off topic, but I think the new tweak to the site is great! My only criticism was that it was too white and offered no contrast, making it hard on the eyes. This now has a more Web 2.0 feel and just the right amount of contrast. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who suggested this, but thanks.

You can fix that by clicking on the tools at the top of your page(your computer page). Give it a shot. Hit options, then hit colors

I'd love to see the ownership rules for TV and RAdio rolled back in order to see the 'airwaves' freed from the megacorps.

TV Screens, Monitors, Various mini device LCD screens far outnumber human beings in this country.

I have become concerned about the new Republican talking point that I keep hearing over and over that most average-income bus drivers, teachers, and autoworkers "don't pay any taxes." This is really stupid but will American voters really think that there is this huge block of Americans that don't pay taxes and they do? I can't imagine people being so dumb to believe this crap but I have been surprised by the stupidity of Americans before.

Yeah, I heard Palin's little rant about how 40% of the 95% that Obama wants to give tax breaks to, don't pay any taxes. Too bad nobody ever questions these statistics that they pull right out of their asses.

I thought it funny that during her speech, when she said Obama wants to lower your taxes, they actually booed. Are these people even listening?

The Great American Lie has been unraveling, especially the lie that your house is your greatest asset.

The so-called Great American Dream has been thoroughly exposed in recent weeks by global economic events.

Every great depression in the United States has been caused by knee-jerk reactions from Joe Six Pack.

There are people who pay no income taxes in this country. There are people who receive the earned income credit, so they actually pay negative taxes.

I'm not stating a point of view, just a fact. I've no idea what percentage of Americans this comprises, nor their ethnicity. I merely hope to educate, because this is a real issue for Republicans, but we cannot allow them to exaggerate the facts either.

Secretary of State's Web site hacked

By Steve Bennish and Ken McCall

Staff Writers

Monday, October 20, 2008

COLUMBUS — Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner's Web site was attacked Monday, Oct. 20, leading to the site being left with limited functionality.

The office said the cyber attack is the latest in a string of recent harassing efforts to disrupt the election. The Ohio State Highway Patrol will assist with an investigation of the website and other security breaches detected by the Secretary of State.

The office said that in recent weeks, phone lines and e-mail channels have been barraged, even in the business filings section of the office, with menacing messages and even threats of harm or death.

Last week, a suspicious package covered with threatening messages and containing an unidentified powder was mailed to the Secretary of State's office via the previous location of the Client Services Center.

These incidents are also under investigation.

TPM: Recommend this [click on recommend at the end of the story] if you think that Talking Points Memo should join Andrew Sullivan and Christopher Hitchens in calling upon the major news and cable news networks to stop broadcasting Palin speeches until she holds a real press conference.
