list and now I've got to look through another list of 500 questionable characters with their hands out??

:)

That's what we get for electing a guy from Kenya./

The American Prospect piece on Honduras is a crock of shit.

Tim Fernholz uses one loaded term after another and has zero insight into the situation in Honduras.

Remember when President Manuel Zelaya (above, in the hat) was ousted in Honduras? The Supreme Court and the military combined to eject Zelaya when he proposed a controversial referendum designed to extend his power, leading to chaos, violent street protests, and waves of concern across Latin America.

Zelaya, the duly elected president proposed a referendum to legally allow the president to run for a second term, maybe, because it was very blandly worded.

Our right wing stooge in Colombia did much more with nary a whisper of disapproval among their (US puppet) oligarchs.

Zelaya had proposed land reform and was on the hit list.

The referendum was the final CONTROVERSIAL straw to the local (US puppet) oligarchs who staged a Coup d'Etat.

That is how coup plotters deal with democratic proposals they find CONTROVERSIAL, they stage coups.

Brazil led the way in protesting the outrage by sheltering Zelaya in their embassy.

The people marched in the streets of Tegucigalpa and were harshly repressed.

Obama was very slow to do anything.

The only credit can I think of for him is that he didn't side with the coup plotters, at least after the fact. There may have been State Department complicity prior. Winks and nods go a long way south of the border. Maybe everywhere.

We don't know what the terms of the agreement are but get ready to hold your nose.

Fernholz should take up knitting and stick to it.

Was the right thing to do. I think he showed respect to the dead.
I just wish he didn't have to do it.
Yeah, I remember Bush 1 laughing at this back then. I remember the public reaction too.

.

taking a page from faux news, the HuffPost tries to mislead their readers this morning with their top story.

its main headline: "Obama Looking To Lower Troop Levels In Afghanistan"

which, when you follow the link, sends you too the NYT article that states the exact opposite. obama is going to INCREASE the troop levels--just not as much as mccrystal demanded.

terrible. misleading. i sure wish HuffPost didn't resort to faux news.
