As Copenhagen Conference Begins, America Finally Takes a Look at all the Pollutants in the Nation's Water System - http://blog.buzzflash.com/greenisgood/026
With the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference well under way, it seems that the U.S. government has put environmental issues at the forefront of the national debate. Their newest project is an in-depth look at the nation's water system, with yesterday's hearing in the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works about federal drinking water programs and a scheduled hearing tomorrow in the House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment on "Drinking Water and Public Health Impacts of Coal Combustion Waste Disposal."
The nation seems due for an overhaul of its water system after being faced with a multitude of instances in which Americans have been exposed to unsafe drinking water supplies. Last year's Kingston fly ash spill certainly put the issue into perspective, dumping more than 5 million yards of cubic ash over the eastern half of Tennessee.
What's more, a recent New York Times report found that more than 20 percent of the nation's water treatment systems have violated key provisions of the Safe Water Drinking Act over the last five years, providing more than 49 million people with unsanitary drinking water. According to the EPA, since 2005 more than three million Americans have been exposed to drinking water with illegal concentrations of arsenic and radioactive elements like uranium.

Death by Gazprom...Did Russia Hack the E-Mails to Scuttle Copenhagen? - http://www.desmogblog.com/did-russia-hack-e-m...
The computer hack, said a member of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change, was a highly sophisticated, politically motivated operation. The guiding hand behind the leaks, according to one allegation, was that of the Russian secret services.
Much of Russia's vast oil and gas reserves lie in difficult-to-access areas of the far North. One school of thought is that Russia, unlike most countries, would have little to fear from global warming, because these deposits would suddenly become much easier and cheaper to access.
I think I can answer this....is the sky blue? Is the Fed corrupt? Are con-servatives serious?
Obama meets with environmental groups ahead of Copenhagen trip - http://www.grist.org/article/2009-12-09-obama...

Kyoto: Congress’ disgrace, not ‘Al Gore’s mistake’ - http://www.grist.org/article/2009-12-09-kyoto...
A specter hangs over the U.S. negotiators at the Climate Summit: the Kyoto Syndrome. Conventional wisdom holds that the Clinton Administration, and Al Gore in particular, blew it by agreeing to the Kyoto Accords without building the foundation for the Senate to ratify it, which it never did.
Reminder to con-servative morons: Spill is among worst ever on North Slope - http://www.adn.com/money/industries/oil/prudh...
Drill baby drill! Leak baby leak! Officials have found a 24-inch jagged rupture in a pipeline that began pouring oil and water Nov. 29, creating one of the biggest North Slope crude oil spills ever. The on-scene coordinator for the state Department of Environmental Conservation, Tom DeRuyter, said Tuesday that the breach on the bottom of the pipe was the biggest he had ever seen and indicative of the incredible pressure the pipeline was under when it split.
Durbin: Banks And GOP Made A Pact To Kill Regulatory Reform - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/08/durb...
n a little-noticed but potentially explosive remark last Friday, Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) accused Republican leadership of signing a political pact with the banking industry: in exchange for help defeating a measure that would make it easier for homeowners to restructure failing mortgages, GOP leadership in the Senate would help banks defeat any additional efforts at regulatory reform.

Thomas Frank: The Real Chicago Way - http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405274...
President Obama for groveling before foreign potentates, they're pretending to fear him as a left-wing thug, an exemplar of what they call "the Chicago way." As imagined by the right, the men in the West Wing are like a demonic cross between the antiwar demonstrators who gathered in Grant Park in 1968 and the Chicago cops who cracked their hippie skulls. Tremble, men of commerce, before this infernal combination. Myths like this are fun to invent. The problem, as ever, is reality.

If being cold means there's no such thing as global warming, does being full mean there's no such thing as world hunger?
I have to wonder if any other country's President had won the Nobel Peace Prize, would the people of that country criticize their President the way the US is criticizing theirs. It doesn't matter whether you watched msnbc this morning or fox, the criticizism was the same.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
Does winning the Nobel Peace Prize make being a warmonger ok?
It didn't work for Kissinger.
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in

Perhaps in the interest of fairness and to avoid jury prejudice, Mr. Jetton's trial should be moved to NYC.
Of course, should he be convicted, his sentence should also be served in NYC. I think Riker's Island would be appropriate. I'm sure he'll be very popular there.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

Jettons lawyer claims that the two parties agreed that green balloons was the safe word?
How does that square with the woman saying that they hardly knew each other?
Did the cheap bastard take the 2 bottles of wine with him when he exited the home?
If so, would that be considered tampering of evidence?
Tuesday Jetton "shuttered" his consulting business. seems to me that the: Local, County,State,Federal, Authorities need to secure the office and its contents.
There seems to have been some foot dragging in Missouri on this case.
Rank has its privelage, and this guy is rank.
'Talk to the hand'
You're being polite.
He's is truly a piece of shit.
I'm no prude, and I understand that politicians (like many men) cheat on spouses, etc.
But it seems to me that so many more of these right wing types have serious issues with regard to their view of and treatment of women
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
Sarah Palin wrote an Op-Ed in the Washington Post urging President Barack Obama to boycott the Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen. Former Vice President Al Gore described deniers like Palin as existing in an “air of unreality.” The Nation’s Chris Hayes discusses.

dealt with them before. They wanted all of us construction workers to take a 5% pay/benefit cut to work in one of their lovely refineries. If you've ever been to Minnesota in the winter time, working there was a real treat anyway.
They threatened to get cheap labor from down south to work there but after the first winter they had to relent because all of the scabs 'dragged up' and we got our pay back plus 5%.
Would that make them Gomorrons then?
It's Go-Morans!
