Alan Colmes New Co-Host on the "Colbert/Colmes Report"

I knew you were wondering where Alan Colmes would land now that he's left Fox News's Hannity and Colmes. What luck! He's joined Stephen Colbert as co-host, complete with a chair side-by-side with the big guy himself (well, okay, maybe slightly behind).
Poor Alan. Of course, I'm pretty sure he was used to this kind of treatment from Hannity too.

Well...at least he's workin...I wouldn't have let myself be made fun of like that...even by Colbert.
I did not like it either.
But...He was the Fox whippin boy...he was on the payroll as the bitch of the show...
So...I don't feel very bad for him at all really.

of Hannity and Colmes, and it was brilliantly done. Colmes did something that most would not and I have to give him credit for that.
STILL though...it just seemed...like something someone with no self esteem would do...
And I love Colbert, but I thought it was like kickin a man when he's down.
Colbert wasn't making fun of him though. Remember, the Colbert Report is satire - the whole show is a poke at nutjob right-wing commentators, like Colmes former co-host, Hannity. Colmes didn't go on there without knowing what Colbert does and what he was going to do. It was a well written piece of sketch comedy that Colmes was in on the entire time.
So why did he leave Hannity and Colmes? And what is Hannity going to do with the show? I would like to see a show called Hannity and Sharpton. Now that would be something.
Hannity's Wake.
In keeping with the CONSERVATIVE vs liberal theme, the new show will be called HANNITY &jesus.
I would enjoy hearing about his adventures working at FIXED Noise.
Colmes seems like a nice, bright guy with a good personality, but he's got no heart and he's doesn't know how to fight those bastards.
They had Colmes on as the opposing view just to prove they are fair and balance with is a bunch of bull. Notice that Colmes is never allowed to be too forceful and Hannity usually has the last word. Fox has a few wimps on there like Juan Williams. I just love how Al Sharpton gives Hannity hell.

Liberal = tiny and weak. The kind to just let you be bullied due to his frailty
They were going for a specific meme - and, it was achieved with such great success, that even we progrssive/liberals were infected by it

Not sure how they'll work as a team. I guess much will depend on the skills of their writers.
Seems natural that Colmes would end up working on a comedy show considering that his tenure on fox hate network was pretty much a joke.

I hope Colmes has a lot of pent up hostility that he's finally going to release.
I actually felt a little sorry for him. He was being a really good sport. It was only for one episode btw..
Last year Colmes announced he would be leaving Fox. As of yesterday 1/6/09 he was still on.
On 1/5/09 he was announced as the new co-host of Colbert as the Colbert and Colmes show, but at the end of that show Colbert declared "join me tomorrow when I say goodbye to Colbert and Colmes and my Colbert Report, Colmes-free since 2009"
What is going on?
I don't think Colmes was considered a co-host for the Colbert show. I wish Phil Donohue would appear more. He tore O'Reilly a new asshole during an interview last year. He was never on again. These are the folks needed - not these whimpy folks.

the Colbert Bump. For Colbert, a new format and a new tag line in the intro. Gone is the ToC at the top of the show, for one. a little jarring, but I like it. has more Gravitas.

The Colbert/Colmes thing was a joke. A one night stand. A parody of Hannity and Colmes.
A lot of people don't like Colmes because of the show he was on and they call him a wimp etc. He was in an impossible situation. There is now way they would have let him put Hannity in his place. Hannity was the star. I've said this before; I listen to Colmes at night on Sirius and he does pretty well. Not as good as Amato would do but Amato does not have his own radio show so I listen to who is available. You know who is real good at 6:00 pm Pacific on Sirius? Mike Malloy. Now there is somebody I would like to see opposite Hannity every night. I would pay extra to see that.
to end the night on the east coast. Colmes is a good way to come down a notch after Malloy gets the blood boiling.

Colbert & Colmes strike the perfect balance between truth and snark. The truth is simply disgusting, the snark displays how stupid our media is.

I really hope this would be a "combo" for a bit at least. Alan deserves a reprieve after putting up with that total buffoon at the propaganda network, and taking the title as "the liberal" at that KKK nut house. I know he did a pathetic job, but did you really expect the network from hell to let him do any more???
Good for Alan. He deserves a break, and he really looked like he enjoys himself on the set with Colbert (the god...not THEE God...but the god none-the-less)
Go Alan!! Great move Colbert. Keep it up. We need this program on the major networks so the whole world can laugh at these right wing repugs.
