Ed Schultz Walks Off Fox & Friends
By Nicole Belle Saturday Oct 18, 2008 4:00am
Ed Schultz has had enough and he's not going to take it anymore! In an appearance with conservative talk show host Steve Malzberg on Friday's Fox & Friends, Schultz got fed up with the interruptions and distractions of Malzberg and abruptly walked off the set, leaving the flabbergasted F&F hosts nothing to do for two and a half minutes but to mock him.
Gretchen Carlson: "I think he just wants to be on YouTube."

..all the Fox pundits but if Ed went on the show, he should have stuck it out. He knew what he'd be up against.
Long live the South! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO0eR47WuLY
You people have the same issues as McNut.McNut can't get Nam out of his head and HE will let more Americans did for HIS DREAM of a "WIN" in IrAQ, We need to GET OUT OF IRAQ NOW!!FOR THE long live the south. REDNECKS, THE "NORTH KICKED YOUR ASS" GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go ED!!!!
If they can't listen to your point for even 15 seconds then leave and tell them to shut up.
Across the board the Faux talk show hosts love to shout out their guests. If y'all are going to invite someone on then listen to them. If y'all are going to shout them out then don't invite them.
Faux right wing propaganda is sooooo rude I hate it. Squeeky Sean is the worst followed by Bully Brillo and then the lesser pundits try to take after them.
Have you heard of taking turns? Shouting over someone is annoying to the viewer and listener and is just plain bad form.
Go, ED, Go!!!
Brian Kilmeade has, without a doubt, the most { Deleted, Lets not go there. SiteMonitor} face on the planet.
I'm really and truly curious as to whether these people consider themselves journalists or not.
I hope for them it's just a good gig where they don't have to do too much thinking for a decent paycheck, I really hope they don't go to sleep at night thinking they've asked hard hitting questions.
I think he was tired of it from previous interviews, this one was just the last straw. They ought to rename Fox Friends to Fox Peanut Gallery.
If you walk into the lion's den, expect to get eaten. That not only goes for Ed Schultz, but any other progressive who goes on that network and attempts to bring legitimacy to it.
unfortunately, when you tangle it up with bullies, you ALWAYS look like the weaker one if you don't fight back. That is the nature of bullying. YOu have to know going in that is going to happen. It's OK for obama to play nice and cool, but for the rest of us, I think we better plan to bloody it up. I really admire ED, he can articulate progressive populism as good or better than anyone.
The point is not that he wouldn't answer, or didn't want to answer. The point was that they would not give him the same courtesy to finish his statement. Of course, the only way to 'win' with them is to stoop and interrupt with his own interruption. They much prefer a pissing contest for speaking rights over honest discussion.
and said, "Dammit, I want to be able to finish my sentence before you interrupt me, punk. azz. byotch!"
Otherwise, stop going on the fake network and attempting to legitimize it.
Then you go on the attack and make the point that "am I going to allowed the same time?", you've got to spit out talking points: "facts are not smears", joe the plumber is not who he says he is; spit it out, hit them hard, pivot to the interview fairness issues. Keep your cool but hit them hard and unrelentlessly.
He should swing around in his chair and whip open a newspaper with O's endorsement on it. Let them tell him when they're ready to allow him to speak.
is "Are you afraid to hear what I have to say?"
there will be a "next time".
I don't know why anyone would go on faux to start with?
I think that going on faux give them some kind of quazzi legitemacy an that is one thing that is not needed in America! No one should think of faux as being a news organazation. It is just a propaganda outlet!
Democrats, all of them, should not go on Fox. Freeze them out. Make it known they are propoganda hiding behind the guise of a News organization and it serves no purpose to go on. Imagine how long they'd last if no democratic politicans ever went on their network.
Exactly!
The real problem, though, is that there are sooo many 'Democrats' who are really Republicans in sheeps clothing. Look at the most popular one, for instance. Joe Lieberman. Then go look at Sean Hannity's sidekick Alan. Once and a while they let Alan say something powerful, but he's usually just there to be a whipping boy. Sad all around.
These Faux people have nothing to say unless they have a target or a script to follow. Sort of like Palin. So by removing himself, Schultz took the wind out of their extremist sails. I think it was kind of smart, actually, as it revealed their true, stupid selves.
I would decline.
Having said that, i must say, Ed Schultz (who i do not know and never heard of) should have stuck it out.
I can imagine how frustrating being on FOX would be. Maybe walking out on them would be kinda fun. :)
Never heard of Ed Schultz?
OMG.
It might have been a better if Ed had just stopped making his statement and just sat there mute until the talking heads shut up. Then he could ask if they're done interrupting?? and continue. If they just start to talk over him again, then would be the time to get up and leave. Good for Ed.
I can never understand why anyone would ever watch Fox in the first place. I've never seen or heard any of their propaganda spinners who appeared to have any knowledge about any subject, especially history, politics, or economics.
I was surprised to learn that the "Fat Redhead" (he calls himself this) walked off. There must have been something else going on... Ed isn't the kind to simply walk a way from an arguement or a fight. Ed should invited them onto his show and demonstrate the proper way to chat with a guest.
He has more class than that entire studio puts together.
I think our guys could do performance art of sorts on camera until permitted to speak, like the Newspaper idea above or a stop watch ticking the seconds of allowable talk time, along with a sign stating a good point...etc. Would not be hard.
I like the idea of the stopwatch, but it was very endearing to me the way Ed just up and left. Time is too precious to waste on witless fools. Ed will get a lot of traction on this come Monday, and, at least with his followers, he will get the last word. (And who really gives a ish about Fox followers, the poor deluded fools? They're to be pitied. And mocked. And trounced. And then sprayed with disinfectant. And then mailed to Alaska, where they can secede from America and start their own little fascist regime where they're told what to think and made to support the ruling class and have their children taken from them for Endoctrination Camp. In other words, same-o same-o.)
Wadda fuukin JOKE/JERK!
First, he goes on a show with a Faux 'nobody.' (WTF is "Steve Maltzberg?") Then he let's this nobody run him off the show?
This guy USED to proclaim himself the "quarterback" of the opposition.
Schultz is just another blowhard bloviator who (still) wants to be the Limbaugh of the Left...
What about switching to decafe or better still.... graduate from high school so that you can learn some effective communication skills.
Smelling like a truck-stop urinal CAN'T be that attractive...even to the skeevy meth-whores he runs with...
The guy just implied any business that makes less than $250,000 is a "rotten business" in an attempt to mock Schultz' kids' company.
If you missed it, go back and listen at around 3:47 to see how douchebags like this will say anything that they think is an effective attack line.
Duh, of course. It's nothing new. But each new disingenuous GOP douchebag reminds us that this is part of their nature. This is not something they will grow out of. Republicans, and Fox News, need to be humiliated, forever, until they are completely irrelevant.
BUT WE WILL ALWAYS BE INFESTED WITH SCUMBAGS LIKE THESE 3 HOSTS. THEY ARE TOO STUPID TO KNOW THEY ARE STUPID. THEY ARE TOO AWFUL TO CARE THAT THEY ARE AWFUL. THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN EVER BEING HONEST ABOUT ANYTHING, EVER. THEY ARE A CANCER, AND THEY NEED TO BE WIPED OUT OF OUR SYSTEM, OR THEY WILL EVENTUALLY BE THE DEATH OF US.
BTW, I saw 'W' yesterday. Is it true that Ailes was a Bush spinmeister in the Bush I administration? It's so nauseating it's hard to believe, but then every new kernel of truth that we learn about this movement falls into that category.
Bush voters, GOP diehards, you're awful human beings.
I see it the same way you do. One glimmer of hope is that the true conservatives are jumping the repug ship of fools leaving the thick-headed non-thinkers by themselves. Hopefully, we can drive those remaining idiots back into their burrows. For a perfect example of one check out the Hardball interview with Michelle Backmann: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/17/gop-...
That woman is really sca-a-arry! How did she ever get elected to be a US Rep? What kind of cretins would vote for someone that out of touch with reality???? Oh, that's right, she's a conservative Republican.
The guy just implied any business that makes less than $250,000 is a "rotten business"
----
Yep. That should be the headline here.
...that we don't know what the "behind the scenes" scenario is before things get started. And he complained that "this is what happens every time I come on." I dont have a TV so don't know the history, but it sounds like the dude had gotten a bellyful of those liars long before that segment even started. I notice they never mentioned that "Joe the Plumber" who isnt' a plumber, and who "wants to buy a business, owes back taxes and has a lien on his house as a result--and that he's a Keating in-law. Funny how they omit that part.
Not the greatest act by Ed since he complains they don't let him on Faux. He should have complained a lot more before he left or said something about not being 'fair or balanced'
This by far may be what this genre of "entertainment" that Fox Noise is, needs.... More walking away from their hot air and taking the wind from their sails. Ed is enough of a class act to NOT take it, and is certainly not backing down, but rather obviously fed up...as we all should be.
It doesn't matter to Fox if Real Democrats come on their shows. They just get fake ones like Geraldine Ferraro,Dick Morris,Joe Lieberman etc. Their viewers are too stupid to know any better. Why anyone would waste their time on Fox is beyond me.
Malzberg reminds me of John Edward from Crossing Over.
At the risk of being judgemental and painting a broad brush, it seems that people with tight, pursed lips lie a lot.
Just sayin'
Douche bag on couch (right): How sensitive do you have to be...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't his like been irrevocably marred by seeing Jeannie's (Barbara Eden)navel on "I Dream of Jeannie"?
Everyone should walk off FUX. It's no different than cutting someone's mic, is it?
....and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't douchebag on couch (right) actually walk off the set himself once as well when he didn't like the way the other two were going off at the mouth?
Hypocrites, every last one of them.
Schultz made the comment that he gets interrupted everytime he appears on FOX when stating his view. He went on to say that he allowed Malzberg to speak without interrupting. Perhaps he told FOX that he would go on the show if the conversation is civil and he would be allowed to state his opinion without having to shout over crosstalk. When they renegged on the precondition he gave them a warning and when they continued he said scew it, I'm outta' here. I don't know if this is fact, just my take after watching the video.
That is not a condition Fox would ever honor and anyone with an ounce of awareness would know that.
Fox is a noise box, not a place for rational discussion.
He didn't walk off, he just suspended the interview to go deal with a financial crisis.
You've nailed it. Thanks for enlightening. (ha ha ha)
Democrats are going to blow this if they aren't careful. The $250,000 taxing threshold doesn't pertain to gross revenue - it's net profit! You are taxed on everything you have left over after you deduct all your expenses from running the business. Anyone who has a small business and has $250,000 left over for their own personal income is really making a great living. Hardly anyone is making this point which I'm sure Ed would have tried to do if they had let him.
This has to be made clear for the stupid populace. Don't assume they know any of that. If you net $250,000 profit you're doing very well.
Wait a sec, they need a total re-education and there's only 17 days. They think Obama is both a Muslim and a Christian, and, well, Egyptian and will either paint the White House black, or turn it into a pyramid. Oh, and Sarah Palin can actually see Russia from her kitchen--- and is filled with the Holy Spirit. Hopeless.
WHY THE F*CK DO DEMOCRATS GO ON FOX NEWS????
THATS THE QUESTION!!!
It certainly is at least one of them and a very good question indeed!
Yo Ed. This is television. People interrupt and talk over each other all the time. You are on the air a lot and know the drill. All you had to do was loudly say...
Tip #2 for Sgt Schultz. If you are going to storm off the set...don't forget to unplug your microphone first. A guy could get whip lash doing that.
Abe?
You don't have to shout here. We are not on Fux.
You know FUX?
As in Fux America, Fux the Constitution, Fux the democratic process as in Fux Joe Plumber, Joe Six Pack, Joe Schmoe, Joe Momma, Joe everyone but us!
The way you're screaming at us, I doubt you take interruption from anyone.
Ed's done this sort of thing before on FOX and other networks. He knows what he was doing... As I said before. There must have been something else going on that caused him to walk off other than just the FOX guys being the normal a-hole selves.
they really r scumbags rnt they.
Yeah, sorry, but Ed only looked like a whiny little bitch for doing that. Much as I like him and all.
I'm torn on whether or not Dems should go on these shows. I think it was actually a net positive for Obama to go on OReilly's show, but not everyone has Obama's skill set, and not all shows are one-on-one. When you're the only Dem on a Faux show against one or more GOP guests and various Faux hosts, you're not going to get the chance to get your point across.
That said, if you agree to go on shows like this, you should know what to expect and be prepared. By walking off, you make it look like you didn't have a response to the questions and you look weak. They get total freedom to spin your message and make their scripted talking points WITHOUT even a token rebuttal.
It WASN'T an outrageous question that was asked. Ed could have pointed out that what the hosts were saying is that is doesn't matter if Joe the Undecided Plumber wasn't a plumber and wasn't undecided, it's the point he made. That is, the truth isn't important, lying is okay, as long as there's a political point to be made. And as others have pointed out, he could have clarified the $250K threshold as NET, not gross, income. That would have been worth putting up with some rude a$$holes for a while.
Get the movie "OUT FOXED" fox bews is nothing more than a shit hole.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows...
He gets what he deserves for going on FoxNews. The sad thing is, it's not very different on the other cable news channels either.
I've stopped watching, because NONE of them have adequately explained how my nation got lied into a war with another nation that never attacked us, and until they do so, and the guilty are punished, they will not receive my patronage.
Fuck the mainstream media. I can read the AP wire just as easily as they can.
For that matter, fuck the AP.
If that Fox&Friends chick was my old lady, I'd make her crawl around on all 4's and bark like a dog, no talking, only doggie, good doggie.
So the greater population doesn't even get close to 250k a year, what are they trying to prove? Their viewers are retired making 12-20k a year, some may work 30-50k, very few close to 100k, but who in fuck makes 250k? They going after that 1% for their vote, hu. Out of all the people in this world The Republicans and Fox news are the furthest outa touch with the american people.
Woof Woof
MAN!
FUCK YOU for saying that you sexist piece of shit!
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Hahahaaaaa, can't help it, liberal and sexist, I am 1 of the strange 1's. I have no respect for her, you may be different, you have a brain.
Doesn't she look like a dog tho? 1 of those smashed face dogs, an expensive 1, I'll give her that.
I do that at christmas and thankgiving, make sexist jokes all the girls freak out and start crowding around me, only a joke for attention, sorry............
First of all, I am a man. A man does not denigrate a woman for being a woman and a woman does not denigrate a man for being a man. She may be, as an individual human being an irritant and a tool, but if so attack her on her merits or lack there of and get over your Machismo. As a gender we have a LOT to make up for.
Listen tho, fox news does exactly what I just did. They tease make comparisons that don't mean a thing, they have no respect for any one at all. Somehow that made them the dominant news station for years, being childish and harsh, looking for the "Wow gasp" from thier viewers.
I should do my own show and pound on conservatives with my cunning wit, somebody's got to. :P
Don't go looking to Fox News as a beacon of hope. Do not emulate their behavior. Instead look inside yourself and ask if you can do better.
I think you can. I have read your posts. They are not in the same league as you.
I heard the beginning of Big Eddies show yesterday and he was really pissed at Fox. He sounded like most of the people I know who are just sick and tired of the right wing "talking over the other guy" bullshit. It's time ALL debate style programs controlled their guests and let their opinions be aired. This tactic of talking over someone else you have a disagreement with doesn't happen in everyday conversations.
Eddie asked (on his show) why anyone even goes on Fox programs. Why do people actually take Foxnews as a real news organization? It's a big joke that everyone is in on but they still treat them like a news channel. From altering photo's to blatant lies and neocon ass-kicking, c'mon? wtf! Hopefully this will let guests know that it's okay to simply walk off these stupid shows if you can't get a word in over some loud mouth nut.
der... that was neocon "ASS_KISSING" (eg. Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney), all these right wing crazies are treated like royalty on that channel and never challenged.
Fox is a right wing disseminator of official, approved propaganda.
There is no balance.
There is no chance of enlightening the viewership.
There will never be an epiphany or a breaking point.
It will not be affected by pressure brought to bear via protesting their sponsors.
The FCC cant/wont be of use here.
It is, to be sure, far from an original phenomenon.
I could write an entire thesis based on the similarities between ancient Rome and what we see here today.
We all know how that ended.
Constant war - Dreams of empire masked as patriotism.
Bread and circuses.
Naming your horse as pro-consul ( Miers, Palin ).
Fabricating the perception of threat.
Demonizing groups.
The list is long.
Non-believers appearing on Fox ?
Christians being thrown to lions.
Crowds eyeing the aristocracy in the stands while they cheer on the carnage.
It could be argued that a constant stream of martyrs may one day cause a breaking point to be reached.
During tyhe Iran/Irag war, the Iranians trained brigades of children and deployed them on the front lines. They charged at well entrenched Iraqi positions by the hundreds armed only with a copy of the Koran.
The strategy ?
To demoralize the Iraqi machine gunners forced to cut down these children on the field of battle.
It did not work there, it will not work at Fox.
That war ended in a stalemate after at least half a million casualties.
Oh, Ye of little hope.
You have no idea what minds will be changed in the future and no grasp of what can happen. the world, the country, myself and you are all on the verge; the very brim of becoming so much more than we are.
Don't give up on any of us.
Sound advice.
I suspect you are correct about being on the verge.
I have three children.
Giving up is not an option.
Peace.
:)
and this is a site I like to look at when i need a shot of goodness.
http://walterkarp.tripod.com/weareentitledtom...
kind of new-agey but still pretty good.
.
Speaking of whining:
It seems to me that Ed was tired of it always being the same old same old with FOX. The three idiot FOX pundits and the ass in the restaurant had nada but whiney nonsense. All of them were like petulant little smarmy smug children.
Ed probably shoulda stayed... but I guess he was just fed up with all of FOX's crap.
To let you have a cigarette break.
of FRESH water...
Shultz did EXACTLY what should have been done for years. Every time a Democrat, or a liberal gets on Limbaugh, Hannity, or any of the rabid right talk shows they can't get a word in edgewise, without being interrupted over and over (to a lesser extent on liberal shows, in reverse). Every time that happens the guest should simply get up, put down the microphone, and walk out. My mother used to tell me you don't interrupt someone when they are talking, even if you don't agree. It's about time to insist on basic respect and decency from both sides in politics.
I would guess that Schultz was ready to walk off. He probably has been ready for weeks now. When that guy interrupted him and asked if Ed's kid's construction company made more than $250k he was missing the point. and the tactic of always talking over you is a Republican tactic that I am feeling that people are tired of. Was it last week or the the week before on FOX Sunday that Axlerod and Davis(?) were on and Davis would not stop talking over Axlerod. At the time i was thinking that Axlerod should lay into the guy. Let him have it with both barrels or just get up and leave. Maybe BIG Eddy saw that and did what he thought Axlerod should have done.
To me it often becomes a case of, "where do I begin with you?"
Their ignorance is so all encompassing it can become overwhelming.
No no. I think maybe Ed should just say let me know when you're ready for me and either whistle, rip open a newspaper with a O headline, hold a sign that says Fox won't let me talk, etc. I think that would work...
I can imagine Ed's frustration, but he should've stuck it out. He knew the dice were loaded going in opposite those three clones.
Any time a "liberal" is interviewed on FOX, it is done via split screen, the interviewee being shot at another studio.
Imagine how the tone of FOX interviews might change if the host was within strangling distance of the guest.
This is why our country is in such a mess. A conservative will not STFU long enough to learn something.
This is a good illustration as to why the country is in the current mess. Conservatives who have been running the government won't STFU long enough to learn something.
Pat Buchanan
I would have done the same thing... the Fox shills are rude and do NOT allow their guests airtime unless the guest is also a GOP shill... F* em!
If more people walked out of these shouting contests, and I would encourage them to do it, we would return to more civilized discussions. No one should tolerate their children using the tactics of the "loudest and the most obnoxious talker" is the winner. But I do feel that most children are fully prepared to handle bullies of all types physically when they see others abusing people. Look at the many wonderful volunteers that fight for this country today. It's time for putting a little fear of consequences into the hearts of the arrogant and abusive, both home and abroad. I don't think anyone would take the liberties I saw taken with Ed - if they were "out behind the barn" and out of camera range.
Can you imagine some fed-up guest popping Bill O'Reilly on the jaw?
He'd fold up like a lawn chair.
I love it! I do the same thing too. There is a sorry ass Republican coworker who always starts an argument, and he gets so fucking stubborn and stupid defending the last eight Republicans years, I just walked out of the mothefucker, leaving alone talking to himself, and the office can't stop laughing at him. Oh Lord! I love it!
I love Schultz. He is a minority in the right wing controlled media, including talk radio. But how is his walking off any different than when Novak did? (Now, I am not trying to start a fight - and if I were Schultz I would have walked off also. But wasn't Novak ridiculed for doing the same thing? If left wing politics (to which I have subscribed for more years than most of you have been alive) is supposed to embrace the concept of fairness, how is our comparative treatment of these two similar incidents fair? Just asking.
NEWS
That is great. More people being bashed on Fox News need to do this. What is more telling is that the idiots on Fox News didn't even know why Ed Schultz walked off. It wasn't because he didn't want to answer the moron's questions; rather it was because the moron guy kept interrupting Ed and would not let him answer. I also thought it was great that the Fox News a-holes started walking off. They all need to leave, not just their network, but the country. If they love the war in Iraq so much, they should just move to the happy, peaceful situation in Iraq created entirely by the Surge(TM) and leave my country alone.
His choice to walk off brought their hypocrisy into full view. I'm surprised that aspect didn't get more attention.
Foxnuts before he exited: Can you believe they asked Sam the Plumber if he really made 250K, like it really matters to the point being made if he really makes 250K. What kind of crazy people ask that of poor Sam the plumber? What does his income have to do with the discussion? Taxes...Income...I don't see the connection.
Foxnuts after he exits: What's wrong with him? We just interrupted to ask if he made 250K. What's wrong with that? It's important to know if he's going to talk about his kid's small business if it makes 250K! Geez, pretty sensitive if he gets upset if we ask if the business he's talking about makes 250K. If he's gonna talk about tax plans, you gotta ask about the income!
In a matter of a microsecond, they forgot that the premise of the segment was that it was mean and irrelevant to ask if Sam the Plumber's business made 250K, when he made claims about how bad he'd be injured by Obama's tax plan. So for them to blatently engage in the behavior they were seeking to criticize Dems for with this segment was classic. The first thing out of their mouth when he mentions his son's small business is exactly what they are criticizing. The fact that his walk out evoked that obviously dishonest and hypocritical behavior made it worthwhile. Yet still, the inhabitants of Wingnuttia will nod their heads and murmur "fair and balanced."
Hell yes he was right to walk off. They invited him on the show to express his views and opinions, and they wouldn't let him speak his piece. It is the FOX/repug model.
It is the other side of the debate coin. Negotiating for months about debate format and rules and them having your candidate say "Fuck you, I'm not going to answer the questions you ask." All part of the neocon plan, and one they think YOUR too stupid to see.
No true Democrat should ever appear on Fox News. Ever. This should be the first media rule for the new Obama Administration. It is merely an outlet for the Republican Party. Pure and simple.
For those folks that are critical of Ed for walking out, I say he should have never gone on in the first place. And he was right for walking out. I would have done the same thing.
" Fox News...is merely an outlet for the Republican Party. Pure and simple."
And lets see...MSNBC (Keith Oberman, Chris Matthews and the rest), CNN and all the other liberal media are merely outlets for Obama. What's your problem? Actually Fox News is FAR more balanced than any of the other news channels.
And quite simply, Ed Shultz acted like a spoiled kid!
This is a trademark tactic of the Republican talking heads. I see it repeatedly over and over. What bothers me most, and I know it won't happen on Fox, but that every other network condones it. My frustration is with the networks that they don't just turn off the mics of those who repeatedly talk over others. I watched Pat Buchannan do it this morning on MSNBC, and I see it every day on every channel. When are the networks going to step in and perform their role as moderator/referee??? This is what angers me most. It just makes me want to turn them off and go watch a movie. The MMM is the weak ones here, not the courteous play-by-the-rules Democrats. At least some of them now though are standing up and telling the Republicans to shut-up. I think more should do so, and more should simply boycott those networks and shows who do not moderate the speakers. Pretty soon, it will become clear as their are no discussions that ratings go down, and we all know money talks. So, good form Ed, and as usual, Fox demonstrated what punks they truly are. A side note.. Colmes...run now, run fast...
If you haven't turned them off yet, shame on you.
STOP. NOW. THIS INSTANT. Vow not to do it any more. It's unhealthy. It's an addiction to conflict, and by watching, you provide ratings that justify the approach.
I wish I hadn't even looked at this clip here. It was a moment of weakness and I'm better now.
BTW, if you think about it, "extended cable" is a total waste if you decide you don't want the cable news crap any more. Go basic cable. Use the difference in cost to watch more movies or something.
Cable news is NOT designed to inform you. It's designed to misinform you, to control your impressions, to lead you to a decision, and to infuriate you so that you'll watch again. Why do people keep going back expecting a different result?
Turn it off and free your mind.
there's only one way to deal with bullies...
KEEP PUSHING THEM DOWN AND DON'T LET THEM EVER GET UP...
You don't walk off the show like a pussy...
Those three were reminiscent of some clueless high school cliche.
But Ed should have stuck it out and answered the question. If they continued to talk over him, he could address that. But, IMO, he looked a little wimpy walking off so quickly.
Never get into a pissing contest with a skunk. If you go on Fox that's what you are doing. The only way to win the game is not to play.
ROFLMAO!!!!NEVER heard that one-how true! And in that case, its far better to be pissed off than pissed on. Way to go,Ed. I am waiting for the day when somebody with a pair of balls and a conscience absolutely knocks one of those Faux Spinocchio hosts right out of their thrones. There would be plenty of spin in the no spin zone-Brillo's HEAD would be spinnin. Oh ,and Hannity would be eating out of another orifice, instead of his mouth-the same orifice he usually talks out of.
Thank you, Fox Noise, for the opportunity to see you act, once again, like the second grade bullies that you are. Your mama should have taught you to be respectful and kind to your GUESTS. Go to the principal's office for a time out.
1, 2
Pardon my language but fuck these assholes. I run a small business. I work every single day of every single week. I do not make $250,000. Does that make my business a "rotten business"? Maybe ask all the contractors I work for. I am MAD! They all sit in their castles and tell the rest of us to eat cake. Gretchen, Steve, that other guy and Steve Malzberg can kiss my ass.
Sorry, I feel better. Gotta go to work at my rotten business now.
Ed Schultz shouldn't go on Fox to begin with. Nobody to the left of Sean Hannity should go on that network-- and certainly not Democratic politicians.
Let Fox News play with their stable of right-wing ideologues and meander into obscurity. Don't give them credibility and don't offer yourself up to be that segment's Alan Colmes punching bag.
Fox people are rude! Kudos to Ed!
Schultz must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. He had a great opening, because we know where that wingnut was going with his question. Schultz should have just said no, they don't and that's why those of us in the 99% percent of small business owner who don't know that Obama will do more for them than McCain....etc etc. Curious. (And Schultz is no wallflower when it comes to interrupting other people....
it comes with the territory). Anyway, to go on Fox and Friends is a stupid idea anyway. They are 3 of the dumbest people on the air, as is their viewing audience, I'm sure. Anyway, better luck next time, Ed.
I don't understand the appearance in the first place. Ed Schultz knew that going onto the show, and subsequently got run by a lower-tiered hate monger, a news model, and two fem-boys. I'm sure Joe(non)Plumber and Jeff Gannon are just their type.
This is just another example to me that Ed is an immature short tempered man who lacks the ability to hold an intelligent debate with the opposition. Rachel maddow, he's not.
I concur with Rhandi Rhodes, Sam Seder and Mike Malloy- Ed Shultz is a fake- his 'liberal' persona is an act, a pure on air invention- the man is far more Conservative than he lets on- He spent enough time on his show belittling liberals, it proved to me- he's no liberal.
His walking off the FOX set just convinced me he's just an angry closeted republican who is not smart enough to debate any position.
ed's a dope. he shouldn't have agreed 2 appear in the 1st place, now he just looks like the petulant schlub he is.
I just read a comment at Raw Story. Someone from the UK characterized the Fox News shows as "Freak Shows". That's EXACTLY what they are! And it does not do any good participating in those. I know that Hillary said that Dems should agree to go on their shows since they are a 'fact of life'. However, if they do, I believe that they should set some 'rules of engagement' (just insist on simple courtesy for that matter) before accepting to go there because in their actual format, they are indeed nothing more than "FREAK SHOWS"!
Every Democratic or Progressive that appears on Faux should be clear from the very beginning and state, that, "I won't interrupt anybody, but if I get interrupted, I am out of here." or they have to say that the first time they get interrupted.
Think about it. Would anybody liked to be in a debate that your sponsors has already determined who will win; who will be heard or who will be allowed to make their point? In a Fox News environment,"enough is enough" must grow into a huge sense of urgency after awhile. This is the MSM culture of televised news debates: Usually a 3 to 1 ratio that is favorable to conservatives.
CNN does it; MSNBC does it; and yes, Fox News created it. I walk away from my TV just like Ed Schultz on a daily bases. That is all they do in debate in the noted fashion. And then they have the nerve to say things like "we are the best in the business." The "best" at what?
In the spirit of development -- the kind that speaks to positive change -- would it not be an excited time to see TV news take on growth? When watching your child go through the hard knocks of life and come out the better, it would be nice to see the MSM come out of their phony sense of meeting the needs of their viewers and use the technological gift they have to better communication and the world.
When I look at Fox News and their wantabees brother and sister networks, I see a waste. A waste to see education used in a phony fashion.
Joseph
Fox needs to get used to it.
Without a direct feed to the White house things will be very different for them.
Ed Shultz should not have gone on the Faux show. He certainly knew what he would encounter. I wouldn't give Faux Propaganda the time of day.
Though he's a good radio host, never been a big fan of Ed Schultz. I think it was a dumb move on his part; it showed petulance and hot-headedness.....something we always criticize if a right winger does it. He should have stayed on the segment and got his points across. By storming off in a huff, he gave those esteemed panelists the upper hand.
He should have used Douchey's tactic and said "Pipe down, you're being rude." whenever the wingnut interrupted him.
If it works for one side, why can't it work for the other. This should be in the arsenal of EVERY progressive surrogate that shows up on that (what is laughingly called a) show.
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
"Pipe down, you're being rude."
that they used when Fox News has a liberal guest and a conservative guest. And I am really glad that Ed Schultz didn't have any of it. The tactic is that whenever the liberal talks and makes their point for more than 15 consecutive seconds, the conservative guest must interrupt (mutliple times if needed) to keep the liberal from finishing making their point. Then after the needless arguing goes on for a while, the FOX NEWS moderator must then come in and interrupt the melee and quickly change the subject in order to make sure that the liberal never makes their previous point. Mission accomplished and to FOX NEWS idiots, Fox News looks like they allow liberal opinions to be expressed on the network.
I would boycott Fake News. Nobody would go on that shitty channel ever(from our side) if I had the say.
The only reason that Fake News has any Progressive/Liberal Democrat on their station is for ridicule. Nothing more. They don't care what you think or say because they will only use it aganist you. I fail to understand the logic in people that appear only to be called a coward, commie, or anti-American to your face and for weeks later in replays. When Progressive/Liberal Democrats start refusing to appear then we can work on isolating that channel and it's supporters.
... is NOT to see any liberal, progressive or dem -- validate them ever again by going on their scheduled public hit-sessions.
And I mean that. The entire community and the dems need to have a complete and absolute boycott of Fuxz News.
I know why they care and why they go - but it doesn't change my feelings on this - because I think it's a waste of time. If they do an overall boycott, it'll help spread the word that they have no credibility outside their own wingnuts. I can't see that as being anything but good in the long run.

Every Democrat that goes on Fox and is treated with disrespect should start doing exactly what Ed Shultz did. I hope people will follow his example. It' s really the only way to deal with the Fox News clowns. You certainly can't reason with delusional angry people. I learned that when I worked in mental health. And even as a parent, when children get into a "state", it's best to walk away, and come back when they've settled down and can act like reasonable adults.
In my opinion, Ed Shultz did the right thing in leaving the mike when the frauds at Faux Noise showed him no respect. But I would really like to comment on my experience with some who are regular watchers of this fraud of a network. I happen to know some very intelligent people who are regular watchers. I can't comprehend why they do. Not only do they watch and absorb the crap that flows from the mouths of all their crowd, but they never question that any of what they hear might be wrong. It is rather obvious to me that their minds are totally closed to another viewpoint. They are not open to learning the truth. Knowing that I would agree that a progressive like Shultz who goes on Faux to educate their viewers is wasting his time and should not appear period.
There are times I believe that FOX should be left alone to find their Joe the plumber republican hacks and continue to present them to the feeble minded as their liberal enemy to trash.
Ed isn't the only one to walk off a show. It has become a stunt in many courts.
Fair and balance FOX? Ed as the liberal? With 3 opposing? The 3 to one on Ed and the have to speak over Ed. Just not enough mouth time for the other three?
I stopped viewing Fox a LONG TIME AGO and have not regretted it since. The very act of tuning in to that disgusting piece of trash is paramount to listening to Hitler speak on a corner. I used to watch it but soon became acutely aware of how anti-American it is... and to boot, they have the audacity to wrap themselves in our flag as they espouse Republican values that no more reflect the idealism's held sacred by the constitution of this nation, the values we have been striving to achieve, than did Hitler.
You simply can't talk to people like that. The guy was an absolute douche - what? is he auditioning for Bill O'LIElly's job? I'm glad Ed walked off - it draws attention to how stupid the re-thuglics were.
Ed goes by the following assumption -- If you're invited on to talk -- you get to talk. Unless you're at Fux News.

Walking off the set is a form of free speech Steve Malzberg, Fox and so called friends don't understand.
Steve Malzberg's interruptions are one thing but his accusation of Marxism and unAmerican attitudes was enough to sicken me. The more these right wing nuts complain about unAmericanism, the more they appear disrespectful of democracy and against American interests.
Michelle Bachmann's clock is ticking, she might as well start looking for another job. Sarah Palin has a job to fall back onto for two years.
Ed did the correct thing. Hanging around to let the babblers walk all over him would give Fox viewers what they love best, an extended segment showcasing a hated liberal being pummeled.
He did the right thing.
...
Those fox set ups are such a joke! Why does anyone even give them a platform. They are so spiteful. They think that life is a big football game. How petty!
Now, let's talk petty - here' a little petty fun.
What would YOU name Sarah Palin's next baby? You know there will be more!
http://thetruthburns.wordpress.com/2008/10/18...
If you listen closely shortly after Schultz walks off, you can hear him say "Don't ever f&%$ing call me again." Pretty funny.
and why does anyone go on fux news again? btw that woman is even creepier than steve douchey
so let me get this straight? When a right winger leaves a show (ala Coulter) Crooks and lIars goes all apeshit happy. when a liberal walks off, we go all apeshit happy.
I think he should have stuck it out and not left and I think that we shouldn't applaud him for up and leaving. it's what the want, just like it is what we want when a wing nut comes up against facts.
just sayin...
Ed should have known better than to go on the show. Going on the show an leaving gave fox more legitimacy than Ed never going on. I hope he learned his lesson and stays off. Just pisses me off anyone goes on that show GDit.
Ed should appear on fox only if he is on set with the three stooges shown here. Ed could then walk over to the big mouth, sit down next to him and put that big ol arm around the guys shoulder, squeezed(just a mite) and then started talking again, squeezing (just a mite) each time the rude little magot opened his mouth. Make it all look very friendly and warm, like they are the best of friends. one set back might be that the stooge will let go of his bladder and get everyone wet, but he will not interrupt you, except to call for his mommy. The best way to handle screwballs and gop stooges is just to start laughing like they had said the most funny thing you have ever heard, every time they open their mouth to say more you just start laughing louder and harder, like you can't help it. This works very ,very well if you have a few friends to go along with it and really well at partys or in front of people, showing the stooge up for what they are. Have you ever tried to make a point to someone who burst out laughing at every word you say? twice as hard if the stooges point is bullshit or spin, also it's fun, after a while my friends and I start laughing when we see a stooge from afar and lately have been searching them out, OMG were hooked now. And lets face it,laughing at them is a hell of a lot less than they deserve.-CEO
As soon as Ed started talking he was immediately talked over by the clown on the couch. If they didn't want his opinion then FUX "Not the News but what we want you to hear" should never have invited him on for a debate about this issue. That isn't journalism in any sense of the word, it was a wrestling match.
I don't blame Ed Schultz for walking off. But I honestly think he should have never walked into a Fox hole that was pre-targeted for a direct hit on his opinions no matter what they were on the issue.
I agree with Ed!! We are now in a position where the right has to listen, and listen they will because there's too many news outlets to let this POS network try to dictate the discussion. Like Bill O'reilly the number of people that watch this show are increasingly old, computer illiterate folks that get their political news/views from outdated sources. If Ed has the grace to be on this show (he has a ton of followers) then Fox News has the responsibility to give him equal time. Fair and balanced can't just be a mantra like "no child left behind".
And Steve Doocy is a tard!!
I think Ed Shultz made the right move. There's no good reason to sit there with these neocon wanks and put up with that sort of treatment. Fox News has really become a joke. There is no good reason for people on the left to take them seriously. Frankly, if you want my opinion, Democrats, progressives and moderates should all stay off the guest lists of those shows. Fox and "friends" have complete destroyed any middle ground we'd had for intelligent discourse between the two ends of the political spectrum. So why not just let them wallow in their own offal? We have plenty to talk about over here and you don't have to hose down after having a conversation like over there.
Gee if everybody walked off the channel, wouldn't it be a better world. Its a fools mission to try to defend the truth on a channel built on lies by liars. Boycott them. To go on, is to validate those assholes.
The first question always went to the conservative with the progressive left to try to deal with a reframed issues, reframed in a way that serves the GOP agenda. Progressives need to stop doing those shows entirely. The geezers who watch it are dying off and the younger ones are too stupid to be swayed with intelligent discourse. They only understand chest pounding and grunts. (Which explains why O'Reilly and Limbaugh are still on the air ... among many others.) We need to stop legitimizing those shows by appearing on them. I'm glad he left. Screw them. This just draws attention to their East German tactics.
What gets me about the people on Fox is not their point of view.
It is that they sound so dumb.
Malzberg is so stupid. And he sounds so stupid.
The other two sound just as dumb.
O'Reilly also sounds like one of the dumbest people in the class.
I don't know how they could have a following.
You know what's funny, everybody thinks Ed did the right thing. Far from it! For anybody that knows what Ed is really like, he is a TOOL! I used to listen to him when he was a local radio show host . . . and a Republican. How many of you knew about that? On every radio show he's ever been on, if he doesn't like what you have to say, BOOOM, he hangs up on you. But what's funny is this guy can't take the junk he dishes out. People try and get their point across and all he can do is interupt, tell them to shut up, tell them they're wrong, tell them they're plants for the opposition and every other thing he can come up with including hanging up on them. Like I said, he's a tool, a coward, and there's no other way of looking at him. The guy has more than a few screws loose. By the way, he shot his dog, too.
I'm a democrat type too, but I have to say that Schultz wussed out pretty badly. I mean, sure you don't get treated nicely on Fox news, but that was positively tame treatment compared to how other guests get it.
I actually ended up laughing at him alongside the Fox pundits, now that's a first. I agreed with them that the guy was far too sensitive. Now I don't know who Schultz is, but having watched a lot of Fox, he was far too sensitive.
I mean, for example, the amount of crap Obama took from O'Reilly, it was ridiculous. But he stayed the course, never wavered and made his case clearly and concisely. That's the way to do it, not get pissy and run away with tail between legs.
The look of plain, basic fear was the face on the Fox attack poodles as the burly Schultz got up leaving the sputtering duo stunned in their seats. No words were needed. Carlson, Kinneade and Maltzburg had the look that says Shultz is mad as hell and coming to beat the living crap outta me.
Maltzburg was scared and handled it like the private-school snotnose schoolboy he comes across as. Without much prompting he's soon seen bolting for stage doors for New Yorks subway.
Do it again Shultz.
Too bad he left without saying what he had to say... Or at least put the guy in his place first.
Love ya Ed, but wish you would have stuck it out. You could have done better than that... you KNOW you are in the pit of the sewer. If you made the decision to show up at all, you should have stuck it out.
...of the walk-off.
He left because they weren't allowing him to say what he had to say.
What else are you suppose to do when these (insert your own explative) keep talking over you?
Good for Shultz ! I agree , why legitimize these frauds , no Democrat or lefty or any one with any integrity and self respect for that matter should make themselves available to Fox . Just a bunch of right wing scum bags , Goebbels would have loved them all .
Ed...you pussy!
That's why Faux News sucks. Nothing but a bunch of obnoxious loud-mouths with huge egos and even bigger heads. Can't stand them. That's why I never watch...
Way to go Ed!
the best thing about fox news is that they sincerely believe that they are fair and balanced.
I don't think they are lying - they genuinely believe they are fair and all other media is corrupt.
Its hilarious to watch.
but we can't let this election turn out like that episode of the simpsons where bart runs for class president and everyone loves him but fail to vote. cannot slacken off at all.....
the home stretch is in sight.....the nightmare may soon be over.....
.... that Fox News is like that Lucy character in the old Charlie Brown comic strip.... At the start of every football season she was always able to con Charlie Brown into attempting to make a 'field goal' type kick with her has the holder. And each and every year, she would lift the ball up just as Charlie was following through with his kick and of course he would fall on his ass.....
Year after year this ritual went on and year after year Charlie would extract the same promise from her.. that she would not lift the ball and year after year she would of course do the same thing...
That Lucy was able to dupe Charlie year after year provided her with a perverse sense of glee; she would have been a great Fox commentator.
For progressives who are tempted to go on Fox, they should remember that despite promises to the contrary they will reflectively break any promise of fairness or even civility and further feed of the glee of there deceit.
With few exceptions, Fox will only use a progressive guest as as a pinyatta ...... anyone you thinks that Fox is remotely interested in providing these guests with the opportunity to express their point of view is simply delusional.
