TYT: Jay Severin Is An Unapologetic Racist And Should Be Fired

Boston-area radio talk show host Jay Severin was suspended this week for making highly inflammatory and racist remarks on his talk show about Mexicans. TYT's Cenk Uygur thinks the station didn't go far enough and Severin should lose his job:
As you heard in the video above, Severin has been suspended by WTKK-FM in Boston. But that is not nearly enough. If you don't get fired for this, what do you get fired for?
Here are just some of his prize quotes from the show:
"So now, in addition to venereal disease and the other leading exports of Mexico - women with mustaches and VD - now we have swine flu."
He described Mexicans as "the world's lowest of primitives."
"When we are the magnet for primitives around the world - and it's not the primitives' fault by the way, I'm not blaming them for being primitives - I'm merely observing they're primitive."
"It's millions of leeches from a primitive country come here to leech off you and, with it, they are ruining the schools, the hospitals, and a lot of life in America."
"We should be, if anything, surprised that Mexico has not visited upon us poxes of more various and serious types already, considering the number of criminaliens already here."
He also said that emergency rooms had "become essentially condos for Mexicans."
And on a 2004 broadcast, he compared Muslims to a fifth column in this country and said in response to a caller who thought people should reach out to Muslims: "You think we should befriend them; I think we should kill them."
But unfortunately calling for the murder of Muslim-Americans has become so commonplace and acceptable these days that he didn't even come close to getting fired for those comments. So, I guess he figured he had free reign to attack the other half of M&Ms.
Now before some of you start making a "Free Speech" martyr of Severin, be clear what free speech means. It does NOT mean that you have the right to spew any kind of ugly thought you have on public airwaves. It means that the government cannot curtail your right to speak your mind. It doesn't mean that you do not have to deal with the repercussions of what you say. In this case, Severin's boss is not the government and they must assume the responsibility for allowing such unmitigated hate on the air. Avoiding Godwin references, how similar was Severin's rant to Radio Rwanda? Is that the kind of allusions with which WTKK wants to be associated?

I'm a Mexican and I find Severin's comments incredibly insulting and hateful. You can feel the contempt this asshole has in his voice when he refers to us as "primitives".
When I think about my mother, my sisters, my cousins, aunts, and every other woman in my family and then hear the disgusting things this bastard says about them... just be glad I don't live in MA, Severin, or you bet your sorry little arian ass I'd be knocking on your door right now with the rest of the guys in my family.
Unfortunately, we have no progressive radio in Boston. The last station was switched to a Spanish station over a year ago. And the progressive Globe is about to be shutdown. Yet, the lunatics on the right think there is a left wing conspiracy. They are nuts.

Jury nullification has been around since their have been juries, here are a few examples jury nullification by all-white juries.
Pre-civil war it was common for juries to refuse to convict runaway slaves and the people that helped them, in violation of the Fugitive Slave Act, during the '30s there was enough jury nullification during the trials of the bootleggers and people who ignored the 18th amendment and volstead act, that they effectively vetoed them leading to the 21st amendment. Also read up on the trial of John Zengler back in the mid 1730s.
Also blacks are more likely to use jury nullification than whites, because they have been subjected to unfair police and trials more often than the average white.

regarding jury nullification of runaway slaves during pre-civil war trials. Which under federal law the Fugitive Slave Act required slaves to be returned. In the north it was a relatively common practice to return a vote of not guilty on the slaves allowing them to stay free and not be returned. Until the southern states pressured the Feds to change the law and not require jury trials for the slaves.

Call their office and politely inform them that Severin should be fired. They have internet streaming so even those outside of Boston should be able to voice their opinion.
The quality of the health care for the poor in Mexico sucks. It's not readily accessed either. If ill, they have limited options and to seek medical care they have to take time off work. That's probably why so many are dying.
I came home from a hospital stay two days ago. The medical personnel are all very concerned about the panic the corporate media is trying to instill in the public over the "flu pandemic." They all say the rhetoric is overblown and basically this is a fabricated crisis. We have always had flues and people have always died from them.
HOWEVER -- Severin SHOULD lose his job - what he said is unconscionable. But it is consistent with the never-ending verbal diarrhea that spews from these human aberrations.

People like him and Savage incite hatred to the kind of people that are dimwitted and mean enough to hear and act on what they say. This is exactly what happened in Rwanda. When I first heard this clip my reaction was that it's bordering on the kind of inflammatory speech and incitement to violence that got hundreds of thousands of Rwandan Tutsis slaughtered. This is very dangerous and incendiary stuff.
