Conservatives Whining About Their Loss of Power
By David Neiwert Saturday Jan 03, 2009 10:50am![]()
Conservatives fear that some of these Obama transition advisers are too far left on the political spectrum and are a sign of radical policies to come.
"It is disturbing," said Roger Clegg, a conservative opponent of Lee's appointment who is now watching the Obama advisers at the Justice Department. "The transition team as described to me was made up of nothing but people on the far left. Though Obama is more moderate, that makes you wonder what kind of advice the president is given, and what range of choices he'll be given when it comes time to make appointments."
See? Give 'em a Rick Warren, they'll take a mile. Leave in Bob Gates, they'll start demanding he be replaced with Rumsfeld.
Memo to right-wingers: I know that you've done your best to shield yourselves from reality these many years, but you might wanna check the news from around Nov. 4. You lost the election.
After 2000, how many moderates and liberals did you see Mr. President-Who-Didn't-Even-Win-A-Majority selecting for key appointments? It was about zero, as I recall. But now, of course, it's different.
Ah, but let them whine all they like. Right-wing disappointment is music to our ears.

They have nothing else left.

Something along the lines of "Elections have consequences."... I can't remember who said it though.
radio show "entertainer" that goes by the name of Rush Limbaugh.
Question is, how many more of Obama's supporters will he throw under the bus for this crowd before he get's it? Nothing will never be enough for these thugs. The more he reaches out to them the more they will try to sabotage him and undermine him any chance they get. The voters gave the Democrats an opportunity to grind the Republicans into the dirt and that exacty is what they should do. Kick them while they're down just as they did us when they controlled all 3 branches of government. The Republican party is now a fringe regional southern party made up of a bunch or white, right wing, corrupt, thugs and bigots. They are not the majority in this country and they shouldn't be treated as such anymore.
Obama's palin' around with Democrats!
Very good.
Obama transition advisers are too far left on the political spectrum
For most of these asshats, that would be anybody to the left of Dr. Mengele.
This is the party that's trying to redefine Hitler as the new left so they can shift the "center" even further right.
The Military Industrial Complex will still be in charge.
The CIA will still be running amok.
The Fat Cat Wall Street Crooks have their payoff bonanza in spades. They will have more.
And so on and so forth.
We will borrow and spend until we go bankrupt.
Then there WILL BE change you can believe in.
Except it won't be pretty.
Your optimism is infectious!
I remember Coulter on Hannity and Colmes stating quite outright that liberals should accept that losers don't make the choices or rules. Just wish I could find the clip.
"... liberals should accept that losers don't make the choices or rules."
Every once in awhile, the conservatives show their true colors. I suppose it's part of that whole social Darwinist mentality. It's survival of the fittest; conservatives are the fittest and liberals are wimps. Conservatives think of themselves as the cream of the crop; the best of the best. (Oh yeah? So how do you account for George W. Bush?)
I remember about 30 years ago I went for lunch with a friend and a couple of his conservative buddies. I talked a bit about my politics and one fellow said flat-out that liberalism "protects the weak."
And conservatism squashes the weak, the poor, the disabled, the minorities, women, those without the deadliest guns. It is the ultimate in American patriarchal politics.
But things aren't so simple. Liberals are much more subtle and stronger than conservatives dream, more compassionate, and kinder, though in war-mode they can reach a fury if pushed hard enough.
Today's conservatives "won" their political mojo by using deception and force, not competence in addressing the human condition or that of the rest of the natural world. They remain on an intellectual and moral level with sharks...
The Republicans have vowed to filibuster EVERYTHING, starting with seating the junior senator from Minnesota Al Franken. That's a loss of power? It's the Democrats who have no power, and it looks they never will as long as Reid and Pelosi are in charge.
Yes, Reid and Pelosi are a problem. Pity Obama can't fire them also.
Call ANY dem a liberal and watch them cower in fear and then try to go even more extremist than the repubs to prove otherwise, just watch the videos when Obama is asked if he really is a liberal.
This has to be a new record for the Repukes. The man is not even in office and everything is being blamed on him. He tried to be bi-partisan, as naive as it was, but by now it should be abundantly clear to Obama (or at least his advisors)that it will do no good and he should carry on with his own agenda. Of course if his agenda really is as Alice X - Choms... mentions above, then I guess it doesn't matter anyway.
They hammered Clinton the same way in '91, especially the fat nazi draft dodger, Limpballs.
After eight years of incompetency and cronyism conservatives think that's all there is. Clegg is under the mistaken impression that President Obama is cretin like the WarPig is. Yes...earth to Clegg...the Republicans lost the election. They more than lost...they got the sorry asses kicked out for the next four years at least.
It will be sooooo nice to have adults charge for a change.
Sweet sound AND they continue to forget the other two things that will make them SQUEAL with terror....
1) Executive Orders, AND Chimpy's favorite,
2) Signing statements.....
tee.hee......see ya on Jan. 21 !!
It wouldn't be nice.
I'm generally in favor of the Constitution, but the opposition party needs to be marginalized in a big way. I want one-party rule for 12 years by any and all means that have been made available. Then we can try democracy again.
per CNN.
I mean, why change now?
But in the meantime eat your peas, shut up and sit down. The adults will start cleaning up your mess in 18 days.
Well, yes, the conservative whining is fun to watch, but it's pretty discordant mouthings!
Good God! What could be more "radical" than the conservative agenda was for America? Illegal invasions and occupations of oil-rich countries, torture and murder, graft, fraud, illegal spying, destruction of Constitutional safeguards and protections for Americans, lawbreaking, gross incompetence -- the list is nearly endless.
You conservatives need to button it. You had your chance, even if it was ill-gotten in 2000 and 2004, and look where that led us. You are NOT appreciated or respected, so nobody on this side of the fence gives a damn about your "advice".
Stuff it!
Yeah, you gotta love that "far left" moniker describing the 75% of the country to the left of Rumsfeld, Gonzo and Mukasey.
Concern trolls.
"But Lani Guinier, a Harvard law professor who was blocked for the same job before Lee's nomination, said she thinks the complaints of an ultra-left takeover by Obama advisers and nominees are manufactured hyperbole.
"The Bush administration people were often fighting against the very mission of the agencies they were supposed to be running," she said. "And their advocates were masters at name-calling and finger-pointing. No one involved in this work really thinks Bill Lee is on the radical fringe."
---
Wow, a person passed over for a position who doesn't think Obama's team is too radical.
Maybe the Rethugs are WRONG? Nah...
obama?
tee hee hee
I can't wait until these criminals and gangsters-in-suits start getting prosecuted for their crimes. The wailing and gnashing of teeth that is sure to come from those events will be as sweet to my ears and soul as any musical works from the peerless Bach, Mozart or Reverend Gary Davis.
The problem with filibustering everything (which will be, alas, their only tactical option) will simply shine a brighter spotlight on their profound ignorance and will bring about their demise that much quicker. They’re whining is music to my ears.
If the republicans offer Reid a new vending machine in a poor neighborhood in return for silently squashing a key bill, he'll take it.
Their team, Bush/CheneyCo, haven't even vacated the White House yet. Let's be sure we count the silverware when they finally do.
(In a non-violent sort of way, I guess...)
Remember when Clinton left the WH the fascists were complaining the "W" keys were missing from the computers. It turned out to be 100% propaganda from the first day and never stopped. Too bad they are the ones that were the crooks. We should check the silverware ... and the Constitution when they leave.
Men and women who subscribe to being Republicans all have one thing in common. They feel safer as long as they are doing the driving ... the need control and will do and say anything to get it or approximate it. If they can't have control then they will make enough noise so that it appears they have it ... and so on. They don't care if they drive us all over a cliff as long as they are the ones in control. It's not about what is good for everyone ... that don;t even understand what that means. To them it's the survival of the fittest and even though they are dramatically flawed they think they are better than anyone else. Insecure control freaks.
Pelosi and Reid...ok, but what about Lieberman? For god's sakes, where's the justice in keeping that guy around?
I'm guessing the justice is that this is as far as he'll ever get in his political career. If he had been kicked out, he could just end up getting a better seat in what's left of the Republican Senate.
Mann Coulter slams Michelle Obama for the way she dresses http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/03/ann-...
This coming from a skank that wears the same black dress.
The only problem with letting these airheads whine as much as they like, is that the Dem party establishment, including the transition team, Pelosi and Reid, listen to them.
Look at how afraid Reid is of any GOP criticism.
criticism...
but Norm Mineta was Bush's first Transportation Secretary.
Not that that excuses these Republicans' whining now.
That giant sucking sound that you hear is the hot air escaping any room where you might have more than two Repugs flatulating on and on about how bad things have gotten since Ronald Reagan was forced out of office ....blah, blah, blah!
Whining has been the modus operandi of the GOP for the last 20 years whether they were in power or not.
The leading whiners: Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, DeLay, Boehner, Bush, Norquist etc.....
have been whining their way to power and prestige, and will never be satisfied as long as "We the People" remains on the headline of the costitution.
LOL
draw and quarter the whiners just for having the unmitigated nerve
"you lost the election"
so (YOU, Republicans) get over it...........................
(sound familiar?)
,,, to the Supreme Court
"The transition team as described to me was made up of nothing but people on the far left"
Well, after 8 years from the far right our country is ready to implode...so I would say it's not such a bad thing to see what the other side has to offer.
But I keep forgetting Republicans don't care about America, they only care about what they have and how they can keep it! everyone else be damned! (unless your a fetus)
Yes, the transition team is made up of "far-left" people who have chosen "center-right" cabinet which is really nothing more than retreads on the previous right-wing administrations' picks (economically and militarily at least).
To call deregulators and Wall Street mavens like Summers and Geithner the choice of the "far-left" is pretty creative. As is calling neocon enablers like Gates.
I thought it was a baby picture of that creepy sex- and meth-addicted preacher, Ted Haggard.
Remember the whiny, insecure kid in nursery school, the one who always thought everyone was out to get him, and was always running to the teacher with complaints? Chances are he grew up to be a conservative.
At least, he did if he was one of 95 kids from the Berkeley area that social scientists have been tracking for the last 20 years. The confident, resilient, self-reliant kids mostly grew up to be liberals.
The study from the Journal of Research Into Personality isn’t going to make the UC Berkeley professor who published it any friends on the right. Similar conclusions a few years ago from another academic saw him excoriated on right-wing blogs, and even led to a Congressional investigation into his research funding.(Which confirms the content of report)
But the new results are worth a look. In the 1960s Jack Block and his wife and fellow professor Jeanne Block (now deceased) began tracking more than 100 nursery school kids as part of a general study of personality. The kids’ personalities were rated at the time by teachers and assistants who had known them for months. There’s no reason to think political bias skewed the ratings — the investigators were not looking at political orientation back then. Even if they had been, it’s unlikely that 3- and 4-year-olds would have had much idea about their political leanings.
A few decades later, Block followed up with more surveys, looking again at personality, and this time at politics, too. The whiny kids tended to grow up conservative, and turned into rigid young adults who hewed closely to traditional gender roles and were uncomfortable with ambiguity.
The confident kids turned out liberal and were still hanging loose, turning into bright, non-conforming adults with wide interests. The girls were still outgoing, but the young men tended to turn a little introspective.
We need more lefties in all of the positions. Let's stop kidding ourselves. The right is not going to cooperate, no matter who gets into the cabinet. So we might as well go as far to the left as we can, and fix all of the damage that the righties have caused over the last 8 years.
You have got to be kidding. The agenda is to kill the USA and take all the money for themselves and their war machines. Every man for himself and to hell with the women and children. These people are not conservatives--they are traitors. What will they whine about when nobody has a job and they lose all their money? Will there still be 25%of the populous who believe their crap? You betcha.
I GUESS WHEN YOU OFFER UP MCCAIN AND RETARD PALIN YOU GET--> WHAT YOU GET..... i remember some jerkwater Christian station bragging (WHEN BUSH BECAME PRES) that GOD was punishing the liberals for their beliefs----> w00h00 .... GOBAMA!!!! I guess GOD has gotten wiser with AGE.
Senator Boxer once majority Chair of her committee famously informed minority chair Inhofe as he continued to run the committee as majority chair.
