Special Comment: Control your campaign, Senator!
By SilentPatriot Tuesday Oct 14, 2008 6:45pm
Keith delivered a scathing, impassioned Special Comment tonight, calling out John McCain and Sarah Palin's dangerous, out-of-control hate rallies and their responsibility for stoking them.
Disgraceful?
Obviously, Senator, you haven't heard your own speeches, and Governor Palin's, and what people shout during them.
And you haven't heard your state GOP Chair in Virginia, Jeffrey Frederick, giving talking points to 30 of your field-operatives heading out to canvass voters in Gainesville, Virginia...
With a reporter present, telling them to try to forge a connection between Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden - to emphasize bombings and terrorism.
And you haven't heard those volunteers, your volunteers Senator McCain, shout back "and he won't salute the flag" and "we don't even know where Senator Obama was really born."
Senator McCain -- these people are speaking for you!
Transcripts below the fold
And Number One: The John McCain Phony Umbrage Threat Level is Back To Red. McCain supporters shout hateful, violent threats and incitements, at McCain events -- if you missed it, it happened before a Palin speech in Pennsylvania today -- and as usual, she said nothing to stop the fire. And this is where the satire ends and the Special Comment begins. Because this is not even remotely funny.
1:25 PM Eastern Time, today, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. During the warm-up act by a Red Meat Congressional Candidate aptly named Chris Hackett, Hackett mentions Obama and a Palin audience member shouts "Kill Him."
And Governor Palin, as usual, does nothing about it says nothing to these thugs and psychos. She may not have heard this one. It is impossible to believe that by now she has not heard about the other ones. Her silence is deafening. Just as, Senator McCain, you have done nothing when violence has been asserted. Correction. You have done one thing.
Asked why in real time you do not repudiate this hatefulness you act as if you are the victim. Speaking today to our NBC Station in Washington.
McCain : "Sure and I repudiated it as I have on several occasions. Unfortunately, Congressman John Lewis is an American hero who I admire who made the worst, most unacceptable statement a couple days ago that I have ever heard. He accused me and Sarah Palin of being involved in segregation, George Wallace and even made reference to a church bombing where children were killed. Senator Obama has not repudiated that statement. Senator Obama should do so immediately. Its the most outrageous thing that I have heard since in politics…it is disgraceful."
Disgraceful?
Obviously, Senator, you haven't heard your own speeches, and Governor Palin's, and what people shout during them. And you haven't heard your state GOP Chair in Virginia, Jeffrey Frederick, giving talking points to 30 of your field-operatives heading out to canvass voters in Gainesville, Virginia. With a reporter present... telling them to try to forge a connection between Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden to emphasize bombings and terrorism. And you haven't heard those volunteers, your volunteers Senator McCain, shout back "and he won't salute the flag" and "we don't even know where Senator Obama was really born."
Senator McCain -- these... people... are... speaking... for... you! And how dare you try to claim Congressman Lewis was linking you to Governor George Wallace's segregation. He was linking you, aptly, to Governor George Wallace's lynch-mob mentality.
"As public figures with the power to influence and persuade," said Congressman Lewis, "Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are playing with fire, and if they are not careful, that fire will consume us all."
Senator McCain, your supporters, at your events, are calling Obama a terrorist and traitor and are calling for him to be killed. And yet you keep bringing back these same rabid Right Wing nuts to deliberately stir these crowds into frenzies. And then you take offense when somebody who remembers the violence in our political past, calls you on it. You, sir, are responsible for a phalanx of individuals who are shouting fire in a crowded theatre. There are some things to respect and honor about you, Senator McCain. But on this, you're not only a fraud, Senator but you are tacitly inciting lunatics to violence. If you want to again grand-stand and suspend your campaign here's your big chance. Suspend your campaign now, until you, or somebody else, gets some control over it and it ceases to be a clear and present danger to the peace of this nation.

I wanted to be frist before I listened to this, I know it's going to be a goodie!

Predicting a Harper minority govt.
As a Canadian, I was very worried that Harper- a true Bush clone- would get his majority as the election night wore on and the results came in. He DIDN'T. He must be really pissed this morning. I am a very relieved Canadian this morning. Parliament will be able to control most of his rightwing programs/actions within a minority government situation.
Go Obama!!!
So.... when Obama wins the White House, who will the Harpercrits take their marching orders from?
I would have hoped that the Canadians would have learned something from observing the nightmare that has been unfolding in the US the last 8 years. I've heard Canadian's argue that Canadian conservatives are not like american conservatives. That's wrong, because it is an international movement. Harper, is a Bush wannabe. They pretend they are reasonable people, until their power is so secure that they are able to drop all pretense. Conservatism, as it is commonly acted out, is one of the universal human impulses, the dark side. And, it never comes to a good end. By the time the Canadians figure it out, their country and their freedoms are going to be in the toilet. Canadians need to wise up fast.
I think that's the single biggest reason they ended up with a minority again. I do not think that the Canadian Conservatives are in the same nefarious league at the Republicans, not by a long shot. However, the mere hint that they could be was enough to scare enough voters away to rob them of a majority. At least the campaign didn't descend to the appalling spectacle in the US. McCain should hang his head in shame (if he has any) for the rest of his life. And Palin, well, set her out on rapidly melting iceflow...
Bring it on Keith! Its time for a little blow-back for McCain's slime machine and his Re-thug followers.
Kudos Keith! You, Colbert, Rachel and Stewart are the only reasons I don't flee to Canada!
Amen! I have to add Maher to that list as well.
Based on the pathetic election results up here in the Great White North, fleeing here won't help you. Our own Conservative party (and they are actually named that - big C Conservative) just won another mandate, albeit in a minority government. I'm trying to figure out where the heck I can flee to...suggestions? If Obama doesn't win in your country, North America is pretty much screwed.
Stay here in Canada. Become more involved. Harper has a minority government, just like he had before this election. I know he can't be happy with that. He couldn't even get a majority government, with the poor standing of the Liberals before the election. I am sure there are a few disgruntled Conservatives with his leadership this morning and in the coming months.
Be vigilant!
Canada should NOT follow the American example- bear in mind a large percentage of americans have no helth coverage- Do you want that in Canada?
Well, I know where John McCain was born. Panama, which makes him technically unable to run for president. These people are shameless.
And Palin's pals around with her husband who doesn't want Alaska to be part of America so she should be unable to run for vice president.
It does not invalidate him. He was born the son of American citizens, in an American territory.
Let's leave the lies and exaggerations to the right wing.
I agree, lies and exaggerations are best left to the right wing.
The same idea as if you were born overseas, but at a US embassy or on a US military base, you'd still be American. Bruce Willis (of Moonlighting and Die Hard fame) was born in Germany, albiet on a US army base, so he is concidered american.
Even still, it's laughable how some Republicans think that Obama being from Hawaii makes him less American, as they don't concider Hawaii part of america for some reason..
This goes to show that Senator Mccain is way too emotional to be a president of a nation just like the very impulsive and hot-tempered President Bush. He's too impetuous and a war-freak. It's kinda scary if he wins...we might have a World War 3 should he wins, always provoking anger and chaos. Innocent lives might be sacrificed. Don't vote for him.
I was on the road today and happened along Sean Hannitys program; these right wing radio nuts are going looney! He might as well just done his whole program saying: Ayres Wright Rezko Ayres Wright Rezko. It was ridiculous...............the right wing heads are getting ready to explode! They can't even keep on message anymore.
I hope someone someday enacts a law to stop these right wing wacko radio hosts; I listened about 10 minutes and had to shut it off. You have to have 0 mentality to believe this crap they spew.
but I do look forward to the day when the kind of shameless hatemongers that populate the AM radio by making other people the target of all that is wrong with America (but never themselves) hopefully will be found wandering in their own closet someday, alone and abandoned, because the American people will stop being enticed by abject hatred.
Look - condemn the AM radio talking heads for who they are, but they must be stopped by their own deeds, not because we unplug their microphones or lock them up. We have to count on people growing beyond their brand of demonization and demogoguery, but we can't do it by passing laws.
As much as I despise right wing scum, I do defend their right to speak their mind- However, i have serious issues with people at Palin or McCain rallies calling for Obama's assasination- Anyone who does that should be held accountable...
yeh but there is a world of difference between speaking your mind and then deliberately (and with malice of forethought)misleading others with bogus and completely refutable statements..
does (or should) freedom of expression extend to hate speech, vilification, lies, slander, defamation or all of the above?
Good question- But if we muzzle the right from speaking, the risk is very real that we could be as guilty as the right of suppressing free speech. The exception shouild be speech that calls for violence against other people.
Right wingers seriously beleive that critisisms of American foreign policy and the president is in itself hate speech against America, and should be banned.
Many on the left oppose hate speech aimed at Jews and Muslims-yet have no problem with hate speech aimed at Christians.
A philosphical question could be should we have free speech- or anarchy of speech? And who gets to decide which type of speech is okay, and which is forbiddon? It's okay to call for the overthrow of the government- but it's illiegal to call for the execution of the leaders..
I think Republicans are vile, and everything they stand for offends me- but they should have as much right to voice their views as we voice ours. That's why I oppose anyone on the left who calls for the banning of right wing books, and I oppose anyone on the right who tries to ban public protest against the war. Sane people are usually bright enough to figure out the right wingers are liars- and those who can't see it are usually too stupid, or suffer from mental illness.
Of course if you go to the absolute far edges of the ultra right wing and ultra left wing, they go full circle and become one in the same, in their bigotry, close mindedness, and unwilling to hear any views or ideas that differ from their own.
Billo and his ilk are freaking out! Tax fairness? Programs for poor people? The horror! Conservatism is dying. Let's let it go the way of the Dodo. Good riddance!
I know it's hard to believe at times, but millions of Americans have the mental predisposition to believe the crap they spew.
Frightening, I know.
Damn, that right there, was a dress down for the ages.
I think these rallies may be helping Obama. We've had these loons running the country for 8 years, and I think it'll motivate the reality-based voter to turn out for Obama. I don't think these rallies look good for McCain when shown on television. Polls right now are holding.
Dare we hope that Obama's appeal to reasonable Americans will beat the Republicans' appeal to ignorant Americans?
There are some or many people who prefer to vote democratic because it is more honest that way.
Bill Clinton may've just told roughly one lie when he was in office about sexual relations, but Bush's lies are far too countless.
As for ignorant Americans, they always vote upon superficiality, particularly if the chosen VP happens to be an "attractive woman in glasses". However, beauty doesn't always fool people all of the time when they understand reason or at least have the capability and willingness to learn to more than what they want to hear.
Good point.
In a way the batshit crazy wingnuts that preach racism or religious drivel will reveal to the world the Republican Party is a party of lunatics and hate mongers- and such will alienate moderates and independents. I know several x-Republicans who left the party because 'the Christian nuts took over'. Ever watch that Trading Spouses reality show, with the crazy Christian lady?
Typical Republican- A bigot, and mentally ill.
Another great commentary by the mighty fine Mr O. Right on!
I doubt it.
what Rep. Lewis said explains it all. McPOW is a man who doesn't accept any responsibility about anyone.
I'm glad that KO called him out.
But I think that even KO knows that McCain has no shame. He has no empathy or sensitivity either. What shows is his contempt for people of color.
I mean, how dare he even think that Obama could "quiet" a fellow brother down?
That is simply an act of a bitter, racist a-hole.
McCain is behaving exactly like bush. He takes no responsibility for anything, has no shame for what he's done, never admits to any wrongs and blames everyone else for his fuck ups.
His entire life has demonstrated a condescension of others due to a life of privilege. He's stolen, lied and tried to sabotage Mr. Obama.
He does it so blatantly and expects to get away with it.
It is so disgusting.
He does wrong, then says we're mean for pointing it out to him and trying to make him take responsibility.
That's not a man I want in the White House. Those are the signs of an ignorant, angry little coward.
Retire, McCain. Your crocodile tears aren't impressing anyone.
Which in McCain's mind seems to be a free pass that should get him into the Oval Office.Very sad..
I say the McCain campaign, from top to bottom, is responsible for any harm or violence that might befall Sen. Obama
New Poll Reveals Why ‘Ayers Charge’ Never Stuck
http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=3980
are the only two people in the liberal media who don't pull puches, and tell it like it is . (there's also Rachel Maddow and Sam Seder)
But where is the so called mainstream liberal media the right wing is always bitcing about? There are only half a dozen liberal commentators, and that's it...
In contast, there are dozens upon dozens of right wing slime merchants on right wing radio, plus all the scum at FOX
When McCain loses this election he will have to face other senators. I wonder how he will be treated by his own fellow Thuglies knowing that he lost the White House. I hope they shun him.
eom
Thank you once again Keith for a spot on special comment. thank you for calling out McCain for willfully distorting Rep. John Lewis's very appropriate comment.
McCain/Palin are indeed feeding the dog pack mentality of crowds already full of distorted and fearful words from the Right-wing radio people. These people will bow to any low thing in order to win.
I don't want these people leading my country. These past 8 years have done enough damage to our nation.
Meanwhile, when the crowd at an Obama rally started booing a reference to Obamas "Oponent", Barack did the right thing. He said..."No, no, we don't need that. We just need you to vote!" That's the kind of class and cool head we need to bring our nation back!!
Those are the two things that Keith always brings forth so well.
RIGHTEOUS anger and indignation.
McCain, Palin, you both are despicable. Live with it for the rest of your wasted lives.
The two most important parts:
"Senator McCain, YOUR supporters, at YOUR events, are calling Obama a terrorist and traitor and are calling for HIM TO BE KILLED."
"Senator McCain -- THESE... PEOPLE... ARE... SPEAKING... FOR... YOU!"
DAMN STRAIGHT.
I think all the talking heads except Keith and Jack Cafferty are over medicated.
She speaks truth to power.
where is Jack Cafferty these days?
They'll play the moral card, but we know better, and here's why:
http://www.ronnierayjenkins.com/topics/deathi...
What we're witnessing is the political equivilent of the Gulf War retreat of Sadam from Kuwait : blow up the oil wells as you march back home when you realize you've lost . Cause as much chaos as possible for the victors to have to deal with when they arrive , so you can at least have something to smirk about even though you got your ass kicked . It's not a strategy . It's terrorism .
These guys are like the screaming 4-year old at Wal-Mart that didn't get the candy bar he wanted. They can't handle it when things don't go their way, so they do whatever they can to make things miserable for everyone else.
i listened to kieth's commentary and it really felt good to hear someone take the gloves off and tell it like it is. Whatever dignity Mccain had is totaly gone (granted there wasnt much there to begin with) for him to sit idle by well his suppoters scream about potentialy assisnating the future president of the United States is dispicable. As for that cheelerleader vp pick of hers i expect nothing less from her i cant wait for the election so i wont have look at or hear the disgusting woman again!
Help stop the hate - here are three things you can do to make a difference right now:
1. Sign the petition to end incitement of hatred and violence by McCain/Palin.
2. Write your Congressperson about it.
3. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper.
And spread the word!
Thanks KO, dead on the mark! I'm still waiting for McCain to suspend his negative campaign and start with the honorable positive campaign. Should I hold my breath?
He is just like Shrub now, the only care for McSame is winning at all costs, it is not about leading the country. Both are not concerned about the country, only furthering their careers and leagacies.
I just watched Olberman's special comment.
To the left of it was an advertisement from "ProtectMarriage.com", who support California proposition 8 which makes gay marriages illegal.
I'm pretty disturbed. I mean, who will take money from just anyone?
It's a Google Ad. We have minimal control of what shows up in that box. It's selected based on searches for keywords.
Short of taking down the box and eliminating an important source of revenue to pay for this site, there isn't much we can do.
We have been very vocal about our opposition to Prop. 8. Some of that opposition, ironically, has created the keywords that shuffled the Prop 8 ad on to this site.
While McCain's negative campaign is unfortunate, it does reflect a very real political calculus based on group dynamics.
As social problems become more dire and uncertainty about the future increases, there is an undeniable urge in the body politic for a scapegoat.
The mob needs someone to blame. FDR recognized this very well and identified the source of the Depression as the Hoover fat cats that were getting a sweet deal while the common man was getting a raw deal. Having provided the mob with a culprit, he followed up with his plan for a better way, a New Deal for the American people. Which was, as a result of having the blame clearly placed, widely accepted.
Unless Obama does something similar, he will not get the real broad base of support he needs to make the real changes the country needs. If he continues to talk in diffuse terms of "big problems that have taken years to develop" and vague promises "to work together for change we can believe in" or whatever, then the masses will not have closure on the cause of their suffering and fear. Obama will then be vunerable to backlash, either before the election or not long after he is sworn in.
It is critical that Obama establish in no uncertain terms that Bush, McCain and their fat cat fellow travellers are directly responsible for our crisis. He should promise to make bring them to justice, take back the egregious bonuses, riches and tax breaks that have drained the US Treasury. He should guarantee to investigate every no-bid, featherbedded contract and garnish funds from war and banking profiteers.
The great majority of citizens are craving a sacraficial lamb, a villan, an evil doer. McCain is trying to cast Obama in this role but it is a very hard sell. Obama, on the other, has an undeniable, fact based case for where to lay the blame.
Call them out, Barack. Take them down! You will be greeted as a liberator! The mob demands restitution - either you give it to them or they will take it from you.
That's why all the rightwingers are freaking out about an Obama presidency. They KNOW that he'll make them pay back their tax cuts and that means he will (gasp) RAISE TAXES!
The horror!
The horror!!!
The Republicans have utterly given up trying to win elections on the basis of offering good government. All they have left is mudslinging and keeping non-Republicans from voting - or keeping the votes from being counted, as a second line of defense.
Just like monkeys
flinging shit
Kind of a pot kettle thing going on there with Keith.
I tuned out his nightly hate fest six months ago.
I was also one of many who sent him emails asking him to stop it.
He listened to us about the way McCain will listen to him.
There's a big difference between Olberman expressing outrage at something and McCain/Palin/GOP deliberately using language meant to incite fear and hate in people.
Palin doesn't stand up there and say, "Mr. Obama, your healthcare plan is dangerous for Americans and here's why..." She says, "You, Barack HUSSEIN Obama, pal around with TERRORISTS!" Literally!
The difference is, Olberman isn't misrepresenting the truth. They are. And to purposely bring out the worst qualities in people: Racism, Fear, Religious Intolerance.
Everybody in America should be allowed to express their outrage. ESPECIALLY at the kind of propaganda the McCain campaign is using.
History students will see that this McCain run of 2008 was the most hateful ever.
though I think it's been pretty detestable, there are surely far worse in our past and we'll unfortunately see even worse in the future. Things always get worse before they get better.
Dear CrooksandLiars.com,
"ProtectMarriage.com" is advertising on your site. This is a "Yes on 8" organization trying to outlaw same sex marriages by altering the California constitution and thereby encoding into it their bigotry.
I am very disturbed to see such advertising on this of all sites.
I will not support a site that promotes homophobia.
I hope that this is an anomaly and soon protectmarriage.com will no longer be welcome to advertise on Crooks and Liars, since I do otherwise enjoy the site and would prefer to be able to continue to do so.
Sincerely,
John K. Fabiani

You are The Boss... which team would you hire?
that's great :)
anybody have a reliable / good source and/or link for the story about the organizer saying to link obama and osama, etc.?
that's great :)
anybody have a reliable / good source and/or link for the story about the organizer saying to link obama and osama, etc.?
The McCain/Palin team spends most of its time talking about Barack Obama. Obama and Biden talk about ways to fix the problems facing me and my fellow Americans. The decision seems clear to me.
The Republican party, McCain, and company are so corrupt and nasty on so many levels i can't believe McCain is still in the running! Are people still that unaware of who and what their voting for? Are the polls accurate?
"a scathing, impassioned Special Comment"
Ha-ha. Does Keith really deliver any other type of Special Comment? He's kind of a one-trick pony in this regard.
Please inform McCain/Palin and others who have never read the Bible and have no idea what Senator Obama's name means. Barack in a Prophet and the information can be found in Judges 4:6 the meaning of Barack Obama's first name means God's blessings. Looks like the Satan worshippers got caught in their own lack of reading and education.
That's pathetic. Olbermann should be ashamed of himself.
NOBODY ran as negative and dirty a campaign as Barack Obama and his various Reverends, Fathers, chief fund raisers and "former" campaign workers did against Hillary Clinton and her family during the nomination process.
Poor li'l Barry gets no sympathy from me.
Are you serious? Were you born yesterday? I would like to think you're just biased and not stupid. Mccain's Campaign is dirtier than Obama. You should be the one who should be ashamed of himself - whoever you are.
SHOW US EVIDENCES.
I cannot understand why C&L would accept money to run ads supporting the intolerant prop 8 here in CA. This proposition is a shameless attempt to legitimize intolerance and the campaign is a lie filled travesty against decency.
As has been stated repeatedly, these are Google ads that follow keywords to sites. C&L is maintained free for its users because of these ads, but the owners of the site have no control over what ads are displayed. C&L has opposed Prop 8 and all such measures. If you are bothered by these messages (which I am too...), do what I do and use a browser which can block the display of ads. I use Camino. But I totally agree, those ads are disgusting and legitimize intolerence. I do hope in the future some solution can be achieved whereby Google will filter ads to their appropriate target audiences. Until then, I'll just block them myself.
Anyone want to tell me why this (or for that matter any of KO's Special Comments)shouldn't be run on every network news station and web site in America today?
The McCain campaign is grasping at straws or maybe gasping for air; they have nothing or they never had anything except "I was a POW." and now even that fails to make the grade. Ayers, Acorn, "Hussein", flag pins, all of it, what does it mean when people are losing jobs and homes, when people are cashing in retirement accounts (those lucky enough to have them)or watching savings circle the drain before, ploop, they're gone! Senator Obama's judgment called into question when the elder senator voted in support of invading Iraq and plunging this country into a war that killed so many Americans, wounded so many more, killed how many Iraqis and displaced so many more. A war, now an occupation, that was paid for with borrowed money I might add not the sacrifice of the American tax payer only of the aforementioned troops. Who's judgment needs to be questioned? McCain surrounds himself with lobbyists and people who pander to rich corporations and extreme right wing organizations and its Senator Obama who's judgment is called into question? McCain sings "Bomb, bomb bomb Iran" and its Senator Obama's judgment that is called into question? Then the elder lies about the context in which he bastardized the Beach Boy song. There are too many people out there that will just believe the elder Senator when they should really get to know what it is he and VP nominee are all about. They have no real plan because like other Republicans, especially W and his cronies before them, they'll promise us everything and give us nothing!
It's a peculiar thing to me.... If the rallies were being held by liberals, it would be called "freedom of expression" and not "hate speech."
That is...if we heard anything about them at all.
If the rallies had been held by liberals, nobody would call out for McCain's death. Libertarian, eh? I guess that means you're a republican that smokes pot.
I'm so sick of these bastard libertarians. Libertarianism is a giant plot to vote republican and have zero accountability for it. Their flawed and now completely discounted ideology has no practical applicability whatsoever, which is ironically their constant argument against any form of socialism. They claim to "hold their noses" every election and vote for "ideologically similar" republicans, and then when the republicans royally screw everything up, they say, "well, I'm really a libertarian." To hell with all of them!
sad but true...
If someone were publicly calling for the death of McCain, Palin, or anyone else, we misguided "liberals" would be cracking down on it as an incendiary incitement to violence. It's your people who want to claim the "right" to decide who lives and dies according to political perspectives. We, on the other hand, would like to afford everyone the right to be heard in a civil and thoughtful arena. If bloodlust is such an inherent part of your status quo, I think you've already forfeited your voice in a civil society.
Well Done Sir!!! Much needed and good timing too. Hopefully Johnny will spend the better part of the day, looking up the meaning of many of those words (if he has the guts) and try to use them in the debate, which he then is sure to screw up even more.
The Difference between McCain/Palin rallies and Obama/Biden rallies?
Obama/Biden = enthusiastic & energized crowds
McCain/Palin = angry mob
That is why the liberals and conservaties will never see eye to eye- on the left, we look to the future with hope, and seek ways to end oppression, hunger and misery..
.
The right wing does nothing but preach hatred, and talks about the groups of people they want oppressed or killed, be them Muslims, blacks, gays or liberals.
I can't tell you how many wingnuts i've heard calling for mowing down Mexican immigrants with machine gun fire..
Now...a lot of you probably don't know this and sadly, could give a shit but we Canadians do. I'm talking about our election that took place last night. Yep, the stumping and debates were over in 6 weeks and our Gov't is set for the next 100 years.
No vicious attacks, character assassinations, declarations of association to terrorism, corruption, murder, sodomy, racism. None of that. We had Asians and SE Asians elected.
The whole thing was done in 5 weeks. No time for lobbyists to invest and later on claim their pound of flesh. No party campaign costs of a half billion dollars.
Yes..there is a Quebecois flag and that's ok. It doesn't represent being a redneck, it represents the birth of Quebec...forefathers of Canada. Jacques Cartier, Champlain, Iroquois Indians etc. Not fucking lynchings and a civil war!
And today? Well Canadians will not be threatening to kill the PM or anyone else. WE FRIGGIN TRUST OUR FELLOW CANADIANS!
GROW THE FUCK UP AND BE THE LEADERS YOU ONCE WERE.
I forgot.....and you're a disgrace to mankind.
I was a Hilary support but that is dust for 4 years. Now it's Obama.
You guys need something like this in a big way to convince the world, you do mean change and are stepping back into a more dignified existence.
Then we can say, Welcome back America to the human race!
As a Canadian, I too am glad that the political discourse here did not descent to the levels it did in the US. However, we have scant reason to be proud. I am in my 40s now and have been politically aware for most of my adult life, and I wouldn't give any of your administrations more than a C- for their efforts. There have been plenty of scandals and monumental incompetence and waste. I really don't believe we can be smug.
I hope the Canadian election results are not reflected in the the US elections. Harper was well behind and could have lost outright except along came the Crash and he gave the country a large money sweetener, basically buying his slim majority. They are talking about the Bradley effect, saying they will vote because they did not want to be seen as racist, which makes Obama look as if he is ahead in the polls, then less people actually vote. There could be factors like this. People scared off by the economy and staying put out of fear. I reckon this is the single factor that could cost Obama votes. The old devil you know. works everytimes, especially if McMaverich offers a huge cash lollipop. With all the horror of the past eight years, you'd think Obama would be streaks ahead, but he's not. As an outsider observer looking into the US, I've come to the conclusion most of you (present company excepted),are either so greedf@&cked or operate on inbred reptilian brains. The fact that there is only a half a dozen liberal commentators smacks of a repressive regime. Maybe it's hard not to stand back and take a good hard look at what's going on, but you guys look as if you are so screwed. Isn't it true they are saying the last one out of Cleveland turn the lights out?
How far left can you go Keith? You my friend are not a true journalist.
What will you do if Obama is elected President? My bet is you will be fired, because who will you bash? Admit it, you're secretly hoping McCain wins just so you have a show.
Keith won't be fired; his show is very popular. There are plenty of republican tools that Keith can expose after Obama becomes President. They're a dime a dozen.
If holding people accountable for inciting violence and death threats is leftist, then you, sir, are a joke. Next time your wife/girlfriend/monkey lover comes after you with a knife, I hope you're thrilled by her Conservative behavior.
It seems the human race has outlived its value here... let me correct that.. Americans have outlived their value and contribution to society. It's disgraceful that you have one candidate endorsing (or simply allowing people to contemplate) the murder of his rival during the process of electioneering.

McCain and Palin are both sociopaths. They both earn checkmarks in the sociopath qualification checksheet: blaming the victim and considering one's self to be the victim of one's own predation and crimes. Another checkmark goes in the box that deals with refusing to accept any form of criticism, no matter how apt. McCain is hypersensitive to any criticism.
These two people are malignant, twisted personalities. Forget their politics, as if politics were in no way at issue; we have no business as a people letting such people have influence or access to power. I would no more support them than I would Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, George W. Bush, Richard Cheney, Pol Pot, John Wayne Gacey of any similar malignantly pathological personalites. These personality-types are deeply dangerous, and not a one, in the entire history of humanity has ever been rehabilitated.
They don't belong in office, they belong in psychiatric prisons and hospitals.
Among the negative, filthy, racist campaign attacks and tactics used against Hillary Clinton during the nomination process and put forth by Barack Obama, his wife and current/former campaign operatives and surrogates are...
...putting in a New York Times op-ed piece that she and her husband are "practiced liars", announcing in a nationally televised interview that Obama will capture the black vote when "black America wakes up and gets it!" and start supporting Barack Obama, not on the issues, but because of the color of his skin, a “former” Obama camp operative producing a “Big Brother Hillary Clinton” video spin on a famous Apple commercial, sharing with YouTube and mainstream media elaborately produced and effectively time-released videos of supposed men of god telling everyone that Bill Clinton was "ridin' dirty", that the Clintons are "doing to us (black people) what Bill did to Monica", that Hillary Clinton is a white racist crying over the fact that a black man walked into the contest to take away her entitlement to the nomination, that Hillary Clinton is really "a monster", inter-Obama Campaign memos spelling out that the intention is to "push the narrative that the Clintons are racists", etc., etc...
All while Barack Obama just stood there and grinned, benefitting from it, as he describes of others, "(surrogates) throwing rocks and hiding their hands".
Obama richly deserves all the negative attacks his opposition can hurl at him no matter what his Obot supporters think about it.
...because she didn't run a very effective campaign. It was a change year, and she ran on experience. Also, people don't seem to like her very much - on either the right or left. I live in St. Louis, a Democratic bastion, and I don't know a single Dem here who was particularly excited about her as a candidate.
All personal attacks, no substance. Go away, and take your white hood with you.
Olbermann is an insignificant pi**-ant fringer kook.
HOW DARE he talk about collective hate when Obama has ridden his whole career on it?
20 years in a racist church, equivalent of white-hooded thugs, two racist books, and now arresting people with speech he can't cope with.
This is the coming Obama thugocracy.
Watch this video if you want to see some good lynch mobs from the collective hatred of the Obamatards... nothing like Jeremiah Wright whipping up the hate for 20 years.
You don't have to be white to be the KKK. If this isn't a lynch mob don't know what is:

She ran such an ineffective campaign she beat Obama in the the one-person/one-vote democratic primaries, the key battleground states, the key demographics, the Electoral Vote metric, every metric critical to winning a general election and the popular vote, all factors the superdelegates were expected to consider in their choice.
Instead, the superdelegates decided to carry Obama over the finish line with two broken ankles and hand him the nomination anyway based solely on his 14 (out of nearly 3500) state delegate lead derived soley from small red state caucuses as though it was a pre-superdelegate George McGovern nomination year.
Obama is 14 points ahead in one poll here...11 points ahead in another there....
However, many if not most national polls show Obama with no more than a 3-5 point potential Bradley Effect non-lead over McCain (USA Today/Gallup, American Research Group, Pew, Rasmussen, Gallup Daily Tracking, etc.) at a moment in history when the spectacular failure of Republican economic policy has never been more obvious.
There is no way a Democratic nominee with the last name "Clinton" would be running THAT CLOSE to an icon of those very Republican ecnomic failures at such a moment in history.
Yawn. SHE LOST THE NOMINATION. It's like saying your favorite football team lost a game 56-50. They STILL LOST, no matter how many points they put on the board.
Get over it. Hillary apparently has.
LOL! No response for every metric critical to winning a general election that she won vs Obama, huh?
Just that she didn't "win the nomination".
The superdelegates decided who would be the nominee. 100%.
You don't "win" superdelegate votes. They hand them to you.
Besides, the original point to this thread was that Obama ran one of the most negative, filthiest attack campaigns against Clinton in the nomination process and I listed several well known instances.
Can you name ONE negative attack on Barack Obama during the nomination process comparable to what was said by Obama's surrogates about "the Clintons" in my list above from ANYONE on the Clinton side as close to her campaign as...MIchelle Obama, Reverend Wright, Father Pfleger, David Geffen, etc. were to Obama's campaign?
