I've fielded several questions about my Dreams Across America post and I wanted to make clear that the point of DAA and my post is not to advocate for amnesty but for intelligent and humane immigration policies. And that's something I don't think that the Democrats have spoken to particularly clearly nor well. The one thing that you have to credit the right wingers for is their innate ability to find wedge issues and frame them to divide us at very base levels. As Jeffrey Feldman puts it, "'Illegal' is the new 'N-word'", and all one needs to do is look at how divisive the comments get to know that there's truth to that.

Moreover, I think for us to come to some sort of consensus, we need to move past the myths and fear mongering and remember that these are people very much like us...People like Tony Wasilewski:
