The Morning Joe crew attempted to find a single accomplishment that Marco Rubio has achieved in the U.S. Senate that would prompt Rick Santorum to endorse the Junior Florida Senator. This was not an easy answer, in fact, it sounded like the hardest questions ever posed to Santorum. He struggled with the answer, lending excuse after excuse to Senator Rubio for not having any noteworthy accomplishments he could list.
Now that Santorum has suspended his campaign and thrown his support behind Rubio, Scarborough asked if he could name his top accomplishment(s) that tilted Santorum towards Marco Rubio. Santorum explained that he feels Rubio has tremendous potential and tremendous gifts. He also blamed 'gridlock' in the Senate since 2014, so that argument is moot as the GOP controlled the Senate at that time. Santorum blames Marco's long Presidential bid on his utter lack of Senatorial accomplishments.
BRZEZINSKI: "Jeb Bush ran Florida. Donald Trump built a company. Marco Rubio... Finish the sentence."
SANTORUM: Ok, Marco Rubio was number one the Speaker of the Florida House, which is something that isn't a minor deal, he was elected by his colleagues to be the Speaker of the House,
SCARBOROUGH: Right
SANTORUM: Number two, he spent four years in the United States Senate being frustrated like everybody else that nothing got done, and then you can't point to him and say 'nothing got done, 'and therefore he has no accomplishments.
BRZENZSKI: Maybe he was for something?
SANTORUM: The problem is we have a president who doesn't work with people. and you got no cooperation at all. This is a bogus argument, you've got a completely feckless Congress...
Joe and Mika defended their argument as having validity, as Joe even said he could name some of Frothy Santorum's accomplishments when he was in the Senate. Bottom line, no real accomplishments for Rubio, just an acquiescence with the GOP 'establishment' that he's their guy, but nobody's sure exactly why. The least of all the evils, perhaps?
