Tom Delay Outs Himself As Full-Scale John Bircher
June 17, 2016

Tom Delay, former House Majority Leader in the Bill Clinton years, Texas crook, and campaign finance maven, has spoken out about the President of the United States on Rick Wiles' conspiracy theory radio parade.

DeLay said that the president has “put American lives in danger” and “emboldened” America’s enemies.

When Wiles asked if Obama is “actually on the other side of the war on terror,” DeLay said that Obama is “a Muslim sympathizer” who was “raised in a communist upbringing” and “hates America.”

For those of us old enough to remember the John Birch Society in its heyday, the term "communist sympathizer" is a right-wing dog whistle intended to harken back to the House Un-American Activities Committee days when old Joe McCarthy ruled the roost.

I've been saying for years now that Muslims are the new Commies, but it's still rare to have any elected official -- current or former -- reach back and blend the two. Delay did so with aplomb.

On the other hand, how much weight do people give politicians who defend other politicians who molest children these days? Let's ask Donald Trump.
