Rep. Kevin McCarthy's eleventy bazillion House votes for the Speakership has been a thoroughly exhausting experience. On Friday night, McCarthy said he had secured the votes to be elevated to Speaker of the House.

"I believe at that time we'll have the votes to finish this once and for all," McCarthy said. "It just reminds me of what my father always told me: It's not how you start; it's how you finish. And now we have to finish for the American public."

So, instead of just throwing up on the spot, a CNN contributor can be heard saying, "Oh, for Christ's sake."

Here's a remix of that:

After McCarthy managed to flip 15 Republican holdouts to vote for him, we learned that to do that, the GOP leader made a deal with the hard-right Freedom Caucus to give them the keys to the car on pushing for national debt default. And that's terrible news. Very bad. I'm sure they will try to take an ax to direly needed programs such as Social Security. It's what they do. Wash, rinse, repeat. Thankfully, they only have a slim majority in the House.

This post has been updated. It was not Dana Bash, but a CNN contributor caught in the hot mic moment.
