Rebecca Cooke, Drunken Van Orden's opponent, was doing the usual campaign things over the weekend, such as visiting American veterans at a breakfast event. She posted about it on Xitter and said she comes from a long line of veterans and that, if elected, she will fight to help them get and keep the benefits they deserve.
This was enough to set off DVO, who accused Cooke of using the vets as political props:
It wasn't long before DVO was called out by James Wigderson, a Wisconsin native and a Never Trump type of Republican. Wigderson pointed out that DVO was a traitor, not a hero, because he participated in the insurrection. DVO shot back with a personal insult and a threat because that's what insecure drunks do:
Wigderson has been mocking him ever since. And not to be left out of the action, Rep Mark Pocan got his punches in from the left:
And the chef's kiss to all this is that Cooke does come from a long line of veterans. She's had family members who fought in the American Civil War, World War !, World War 2, and Korea. Her father worked at Walter Reed Hospital, treating soldiers in the Vietnam War, and her brother served in the Navy.
If anyone is failing the veterans, it's DVO, who couldn't even be bothered to get funding for a homeless veterans' shelter in his district.
