Early results from the hustings:

As the first results come in on Election Day, CNN projects that Sen. Barack Obama will win Vermont and Sen. John McCain will win Kentucky.

Vermont has three electoral votes and Kentucky has eight.

And of special note for those watching the Senate count: Both CNN and Fox are reporting that Mark Warner is the projected winner of the Senate race in Virginia.

More at the WaPo.

UPDATE at 5:20:

Presidential tally (Electoral College votes)

Obama 77

McCain 34
