Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme - the Manson Family got around. Even the White House noticed.

This week, the week ending September 6, 1975 began with the first of what would be two assassination attempts on President Ford during his trip to California. This first one, with Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, late of the Manson Family, who decided to attempt shaking hands with the President, while holding a gun. She neglected to put a bullet in the chamber and seemed somehow baffled when Secret Service Agents wrestled her to the ground.

Pres. Ford: “ This incident, under no circumstances, will prevent me or preclude me from contacting the American people as I travel from one state to another and from one community to another.”

It didn't prevent him or preclude him, but it did prevent and preclude him from pressing the flesh anymore that month. The week also witnessed, yet again, yet another Arab-Israeli Peace Accord with yet another Presidential "well done" to the involved parties. The week also saw deregulation in Oil prices, which was met with caution by the Oil industry, probably more out of shock than of consideration.

All in all a rather roller-coaster week, this particular one in 1975.
