Tonight we go live with our first redesign upgrade to our website. It's not the end result that we've been working on, but a good first step at making our site really viable on mobile devices. We are switching to a responsive-type website, which means that it will resize itself to fit whatever device you are using to view us in. On all tablets the website will look and function exactly as it does on your computer.
Our new logo will look something like this.
On smaller phone devices, we'll have a very cool custom design look as well and it will work perfectly there too.
We've done away with our sister sites VideoCafe and OccupyAmerica and instead, created separate sections for each category, such as Politics, Media and Activism. We will increase the number and type of sections as we move along into next year.
Our next phase will be to have our C&L embed video player work on all mobile devices as well. I'm sure you're aware of the fight that has been happening between Flash video and Apple which has created havoc online. Hopefully by the end of the year, all of our videos will work on any device you use. We will also create a 'video' section on C&L so that you'll be able to browse our thousands of videos at any time at your own convenience.
We had to do away with putting videos on the top of every post because it's not feasible any longer with the way coding has been developed in the last few years, so instead they'll be an image at the top of each post. It takes C&L about ten times longer to load into your web browsers than most sites do nowadays now because of the changes to the Internet and the amount of embeds we use on every post so we had to change that up for your to make your viewing time easier.
Thanks so much for all that you've contributed to C&L's continued growth. We hope that you continue to regard C&L as your go-to site for all progressive news and opinion.
