With Michele "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann leading the charge, freshmen Republican tea party whiners got their opportunity to register that all-important vote to repeal Obamacare yet again.
Because 2014 was so much like 2010, right?
The real news here is the narrowing margin. The last time the House voted, it was by a much wider margin than this. Only two blue dog Democrats joined the Republicans -- Jim Matheson (UT) and Mike McIntyre (NC) making the final count 229-195.
The other news is that it simply isn't news anymore. They can hold these sham votes and waste everyone's time, but ObamaCare isn't going anywhere. Once it's implemented and gains traction, the margin on these repeal votes will be turned on its head for good.
Here are some other fun Obamacare facts for your week. Premiums are going down, surprisingly so. Also, healthcare costs are decreasing dramatically, which evaporates the austerians' talk of rising Medicare costs and the terrible, terrible budget deficit.
So the babies got their vote and now they can go home to all those old people in their districts on Medicare and tell them they voted to take away health care for anyone under the age of 65. What an inscription on their epitaphs, eh?
Elected to Congress, 2012. Voted to deny Americans access to health care. RIP.
When I die, I would like people to say I did good things for people whenever I could. Also? I'd like to live longer which I might just be able to do with some decent access to healthcare.
We'll see how it plays in 2014.
