New England guitarist/singer/songwriter Geoff Farina gets a lot of love in Europe, which is why he tours there all the time. We haven't caught on as well stateside, and are punished with a scarcity of live dates. This post is my attempt to be domino one in a cascadeof support that ends with a US tour, preferably one that makes it to the left coast.
Geoff Farina spent most of the nineties making stark, elegant indie-rock fronting the Boston trio Karate. I can't count the number of times I've heard them described as an "indie-rock Steely Dan", and while indie-rock and Steely Dan are both preferred poisons of mine, the description really misses the stark, bare class that Karate, Farina's solo work, and his current band Glorytellers bring to the studio and stage. I always thought it was like the Bill Evans Trio meets Neil Young. What do you think?
Those of you across the pond: Good Morning, tour dates are here.
