Sesame Street -- Singing in the Shower

Susie Madrak and I have long chats bouncing ideas off one another fairly regularly. This weekend, she shared with me Madrak's Law of Similarity. It occured to her while singing in the shower that it was quite possible that maybe she wasn't as good a singer as she thought she sounded. She only heard the notes she sang well. I don't think this is particular to Susie. I have a terrible singing voice, made worse by my inability to hear certain notes because of hearing loss. That doesn't stop me from turning up the radio full blast in my car and singing along. And I hear all the notes I sing correctly and glide over many, many notes I don't quite make. There's a parallel to the Sunday shows. They only hear themselves singing the notes they think they've gotten right. They've missed entirely the notes they're getting so very, very wrong.

Speaking of getting things so very, very wrong, look hasn't missed yet another Sunday: John McCain. Driftglass has noted the occasion in his own inimitable way:

John McCain! Exclusively! On "Meet the Press"! John McCain! Exclusively! On "Meet the Press"! John McCain! Exclusively! On "Meet the Press"! John McCain! Exclusively! On "Meet the Press"!
