"I'm only going by the gunman's notes in his manifesto if this is really his, he is inspired by the white supremacist movement, he's inspired by violent rhetoric," she said.
The prominent liberal senator had a lukewarm reaction to the former congressman's announcement.
“If you start to see this President use pardon power for people who are connected with this investigation, I think you'll see Congress erupt,” Sen. Kaine said.
"It's not Trump being Trump when the president of the United States says members of Congress hate America," Avlon said.
By farming out various pieces, he made sure the investigations would continue no matter what, Bernstein said.
