“So the allegations here are complete nonsense. Who knows why Republicans are entertaining this?” the comedian said.
"The new name comes after a recent episode of HBO’s 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' in which he explored the racial disparities in the jury selection process, citing problems in a few Connecticut towns."
"John Oliver, don't mess with Danbury," said the mayor.
"It’s frankly amazing how slow Trump is to respond to so many things like, I don’t know, public health crises, yet when it comes to amplifying racist conspiracy theories, suddenly he’s The Flash on cocaine,” the comedian said.
Oliver explained how our version of history is part of an Atwater-esque plan to ensure the persistence of white supremacy by presenting “misleadingly comfortable versions of history.”
For one thing, they're being used as slave labor for Nike and Volkswagen.
“On balance, the risks of carefully letting people out are vastly outweighed by the risks of leaving everyone inside,” he said.
One of the biggest obstacles of police reform are police unions, Oliver pointed out.
"There is clearly a desire to restart sporting events," the comedian said.
The comedian says lack of testing goes to the “very heart of how we got into this situation” and “the fact is that broad testing is the only safe way out.”
