BUSTED!
Previously undisclosed documents detail how Republican operatives, with the knowledge of several White House officials, engaged in an illegal, racially-motivated effort to suppress tens of thousands of votes during the 2004 presidential campaign in a state where George W. Bush was trailing his Democratic challenger, Senator John Kerry.
The documents also contain details describing how Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign officials, and at least one individual who worked for White House political adviser Karl Rove, planned to stop minorities residing in Cuyahoga County from voting on election day.
The efforts to purge voters from registration rolls was spearheaded by Tim Griffin, a former Republican National Committee opposition researcher. Griffin recently resigned from his post as interim US attorney for Little Rock Arkansas. His predecessor, Bud Cummins, was forced out to make way for Griffin.
Another set of documents, 43 pages of emails, provided to Truthout by the PBS news program "NOW," contains blueprints for a massive effort undertaken by RNC operatives in 2004, to challenge the eligibility of voters expected to support Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry in states such as Nevada, New Mexico, Florida and Pennsylvania.
One email, dated September 30, 2004, and sent to a dozen or so staffers on the Bush-Cheney campaign and the RNC, under the subject line "voter fraud strategy conference call," describes how campaign staffers planned to challenge the veracity of votes in a handful of battleground states in the event of a Democratic victory.
Furthermore, the emails show the Bush-Cheney campaign and RNC staffers compiled voter-challenge lists that targeted probable Democratic voters in at least five states: New Mexico, Ohio, Florida, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

Michael Moore says he's been served
BURBANK, Calif., July 26 (UPI) -- Michael Thursday said the Bush administration has served him with a subpoena regarding his trip to Cuba during the making of his new film, "Sicko."
The Oscar-winning filmmaker, who appeared Thursday on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," said he was notified about the subpoena at the network's studios in Burbank, Calif.
"I haven't even told my own family yet," Moore said. "I was just informed when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a subpoena for me."
Moore filmed the trip as part of his film comparing the U.S. healthcare system with government healthcare systems in other countries.
He took three Sept. 11, 2001, emergency rescue workers to Guantanamo Bay "because I heard the al-Qaida terrorists we have in the camps there, detained, are receiving free dental, medical, eye care, the whole deal, and our own (Sept. 11) rescue workers can't get that in New York City."
Moore said the film's distributor, the Weinstein Co., will donate 11 percent of "Sicko's" box-office receipts Aug. 11 to "help these workers and the other workers who need help.

Any fellow Missourians out there from MCcaskill's district? Please join me tomorrow in emailing/phoning her office to let her know how you feel about her stance on impeachment. Be sure to mention her failed race against Blunt for Gov. and the fact that she wasn't voted for, she was running against a Republican that got voted out and as such would probably be an easy target for a primary challenge. Here's the email:
Thank you for sharing your views regarding the impeachment of the President and Vice President. I appreciate hearing from you.
Like many Americans, I am disappointed with the direction that the Bush Administration has taken our country. The Administration has repeatedly misled Congress and the American public on issues critical to the safety and prosperity of our nation, such as using false intelligence to lead us into war in Iraq. At the same time, Congress over the last 6 years has failed to uphold its Constitutional duty to provide proper oversight of the Executive Branch.
Yes, this administration has made some serious mistakes and has lost credibility with the American people, but impeachment should be used in only the rarest of cases. Only twice in the history of our nation has Congress carried out impeachment proceedings in attempts to move a President from office, and in both cases the President was acquitted. This country was founded on the principle that the democratic process is the best means of choosing leadership - and that is done through the American people and their right to vote. American voters recently expressed their desire for a change in leadership by voting a Democratic majority into Congress. We now have much important work that must be done for America and impeachment proceedings would consume most of the time, resources, and energy of Congress with little likelihood of success.
As your Senator, I will continue to work with my colleagues to provide stronger oversight of this Administration. Since the 110th Congress began in January under Democratic leadership, already dozens of oversight hearings have been held on everything from the war in Iraq to the botched Federal response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
I will keep your thoughts in mind as Congress continues its important oversight role. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.
Yeah, isn't that sweet! All this talk about how the terrorist go to school and received an education just to sneak over here to attack us. I know one of my republican friend work up a tizzy on that issues.

We´re leaving when they stand up (without desperately needed equipment)
US admits delay to Iraqi weapons
The US-led coalition in Iraq has failed to deliver nearly two-thirds of the equipment it promised to Iraq's army, the US Defence Department has said.
The Pentagon said only 14.5m of the nearly 40m items of equipment ordered by the Iraqi army had been provided.
The US military commander in charge of training in Iraq has asked for help in speeding up the transfer of equipment.
On Wednesday, Iraq's ambassador to the US said the delays were hindering the fighting capacity of its armed forces.
Samir Sumaidaie said Iraqi troops were often "cannon fodder" for militants.
"There is general frustration in the Iraqi government at the rate at which Iraqi armed forces are being equipped and armed," he said.
"This is a collaborative effort between the Iraqi government and the government of the United States, and the process is not moving quickly enough to improve the fighting capacity of Iraqi armed forces."

Karl Rove, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) welcomes you to the world of subpoenas! 'The evidence shows that senior White House political operatives were focused on the political impact of federal prosecutions and whether federal prosecutors were doing enough to bring partisan voter fraud and corruption cases,' Leahy said. 'It is obvious that the reasons given for the firings of these prosecutors were contrived as part of a cover-up and that the stonewalling by the White House is part and parcel of that same effort.'

when i used to work for myself and with my younger brother doing residentual construction ,the hardest people to get your job done payment from was rich pricks like the ones who controll this government, they seemed to think they could hold off paying you for as long as they wanted to , even though you had to pay the bills you rang up building their shit, but i never had a problem with every day folks who worked for a liveing and didnt have a silver stick rammed up their ass like the rich! rich assholes are the tightest pricks i ever saw and hate to let go of a buck!

Be sure to mention her failed race against Blunt for Gov. and the fact that she wasn't voted for, she was running against a Republican that got voted out and as such would probably be an easy target for a primary challenge.
"A way must be found to improve this process."

Dennis, I just worry when the market is so erratic -- the Dow went from 13,000 to 14,000 SO quickly it made my head spin. This week's correction is scary as well. Lots of mixed financial news; hedge funds; foreclosures are going to skyrocket; lots of bad debt out there.
Americans spend more than they earn; our savings rate is abyssmal; etc.
Bush has NO ECONOMIC POLICY save for cutting taxes.

Tyree- I'm not bragging about this economy. I'm just saying it's not armageddon. It never is.
dennis thats what the republicans said dureing the great deppreshion, ill guarantee you that for many it was armaggedon

a lot is being done to preserve the appearance of a better economy, including and especially lack of publicity of the real problems in this country (just like the war).
watch for the real bad news to be associated with the dems once the repugs are deposed. government stats are lies and the press is not calling them on that. even the WSJ, the financial paper-of-record, isn't focusing on the truth of the economic facts in the us economy. Now imagine that paper in the hands of Murdoch. They are just whispering about the danrerous economy instead of sounding the alarm.
