The company Bush keeps

Oliver Willis noted, "Bush surrounds himself with this echo chamber in order to hear good things about himself, and not hear a single critical word about his failed presidency."

We've seen plenty of examples of this, but yesterday was a stark reminder. From Hugh Hewitt:

President Bush invited ten talk hosts into the Oval Office for an hour of conversation today --Glenn Beck, Bill Bennett, Neal Boortz, Scott Hennon, Laura Ingraham, Lars Larson, Mark Levin, Michael Medved, Janet Parshall and me.

It's quite a motley crew, isn't it?

And Democratic presidential candidates are supposed to avoid YearlyKos? While Bush is inviting these far-right voices into the White House for a chat?

the bush co. congressional recess product roll out has begun. watch for all the happy news to come out in the following few weeks. why did the administration focus on a september date for the report from the general...because they knew they would have a relatively clear month of free spin to resell the surge. bush co treats every policy like "introducing a product" and this is going to be a bigger sales pitch than anything we have seen prior. who better to help the spin than the wingnut airwaves spin machine.
hell bush himself let their approach slip when he accidently called recent legislation a "product" instead of a bill. tony snowjob also said that what we need is a "surge of information". who in MSM will call them out on this.......

Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them
Authoritarian
Secretive
Paranoid
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired
Conventional appearance
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim's life
Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim
Incapable of real human attachment to another
Unable to feel remorse or guilt
Extreme narcissism and grandiose
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world

sanity-in-the-sane-ter's picture

When is the voice of the sane, the sane-ter, the human-species, going to arise in the midst of the polarities of right and left, of up and down, of yes and no. Human beings are one species, there is ONE humanity appearing, and peace is inherent in the egoless reality of human being. No war. No us against them. One human family, one egoless reality, one human species. We the people, the sane-ter, the heart which is the only real voice in the midst of the ego-power-addict madness.

Sane. Centered, but not in the middle of ego-wars of right and left. The human voice. The human heart, one heart, here, there, everywhere, same egoless human heart in China, Iran, North Korea, Texas. One humanity, one species. The one human family awakening to the enormous global responsibily of the profoundly urgent collective business that exists for all human beings. Waking up from illusions and getting on with profound matters.

Infantile us versus them is no longer useful or workable, or acceptable for a mature human being. Adolescent "we are better than you" is likewise absurd at this stage of global human social order and civilization in deep crisis. Mature adults who accept responsibility and who voice this egoless truth of one human species must give the people a voice and a means to awaken.

May wisdom prevail in our dark time.

I'm not familiar with most of the others, but Lars Larson is Oregon's own home-grown purveyor of right-wing fertilizer. He's actually, by most accounts of those who've worked with him, extremely smart; he can argue his points intricately. It's just that his logic is based on hate for "the other," anybody who disagrees with his ideology, or people who think using tax dollars for things like public works is a good idea.

He used to be a news anchor for the local Faux affiliate--starting back before it was a Faux affiliate, Oregon's only independent TV news broadcast--but I suppose it wasn't right-wing enough for him, so he left to do radio hate-talk (partly because of the conflict-of-interest involved in doing both "fertilizer" and news).

Oh, and like a lot of right-wing haters, he has three chins. (Of course, so does Michael Moore, and I'm not so thin myself anymore, but just sayin'...there were probably a lot of wattles in that room with bush...)

If you go to Media Matters, the atrocities are documented on all these shills. For example, Laura Ingraham encouraged her callers to call the democratic get out the vote phone lines and block them. Glenn Beck said to newly elected representative Keith Ellison "With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, 'Let's cut and run.' And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies." Neil Boortz called Cynthia McKinney a "welfare drag-queen".

It turns out that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul broke bread last night at the White House with President Bush and his wife, Laura.

The evening began with a one-on-one meeting between the president and the speaker, after which they were joined for dinner by their spouses, according to Pelosi. Pelosi tells us that it is important to have a "good rapport" with the president -- and in fact, she says, that is exactly what they have.

bush knows it take uncontested repetition to really "catapult the propaganda" into the MSM. and that's why they are so afraid of a new Fairness Doctrine or anything that cuts their monopoly. this disaster wouldn't have been possible without reagan killing the Fairness Doctrine and Rove knows it.

if there is one place they don't want local sign waving and boycotting it's the local talk radio station where the chickenhawk blowhards send out that propaganda. progressives biggest mistake the last twenty years was ignoring talk radio. but it's been the GOPs most important tool.

here's the talker's A list from talker's magazine thru media matters
http://www.talkers.com/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17...

the millions of listeners is astounding. if that's right and some people listen to more than one and some just listen for a bit this is incredible. unfortunately a lot of listeners are just trying to get the news or some politics at work before they get home and don't have a choice.

20% plus americans say they get their news from talk radio. until we get a new fairness doctrine or something like it GOP/bush opponents- most of America- are going to be playing politics and media without a front line and a minority of extremists will continue to shred the constitution while they wave their made-in-china flags.

These are mostly dangerous voices on the airwaves, especially Mark Levin. Voices of intolerance, hatred, and voices of the vast MINORITY.

What is happening in the United States is the slow crumbling of the grand experiment. It's going fast.

There is a dangerous set of premises in place:

Premise: A stealth government is ruling the United States;
Premise: A powerless loyal opposition is in Congress;
Premise: The media is a corporate-owned entity that selectively reports news;
Premise: Elections were rigged, flipped, stolen;
Premise: Tax dollars are funding a tremendous war machine;
Premise: Healthcare protection for all is dead and may remain dead;
Premise: Unions are mostly busted.
