Rachel Maddow Dissects Karl Rove's Farewell Media Tour

Countdown-Maddow-Rove Air America Radio talk show host Rachel Maddow breaks down Karl Rove's media blitz on Monday night's "Countdown" with guest host Amy Robach. Dr. Maddow interprets Rove's maddening spin and points out that while Rove's media tour takes some of the heat off of the vacationing President Bush, it doesn't take away from the fact that his involvement in the Valerie Plame case, and other scandals, is still a huge liability for the White House.

talk, talk, talk.

Rachel was great here and on C Span Washington Journal this morning. She always represents us well

Thank you for this, I had forgotten that she was also on C-SPAN this morning, which I missed, I',m going to their website to watch later.

talk, talk, talk.

What should they do on a talk show?

I had to dissect earthworms in biology class.

Oh yeah, huge liability for the White House. I'm sure they'll pay a big price for that, huh? Let's see, the Dems might write a letter that will be ignored or openly scoffed at. Maybe they'll subpoena some people who won't bother to show up. Or they may get really nasty and write a bill that even their own members won't support.

A liability for the White House. That's funny.

rachel maddow is eternally-impressive. she is smart, witty, incredible sharp and fast as lightening

(i go out on a limb and guess that) she scares the bejesus out of any rightwing nut she has to debate (see: dissect, decimate and destroy)

I saw her on Washington Journal today too. Too bad she couldn't get Imus' old spot. I've about had it with morning joe. He gets boring after about ten minutes. One of the things she said on WJ was that she wasn't all about impeaching bush for a long time, but now she said if we allow this president to lie to us, we are saying it's okay for the next president to lie to us with no penalty at all.

For a lot of the morning I couldn't get Crooks and Liars to load. Now I can get here but everything is working so slow. Have there been problems here today?

That's what I think of the Sonic commercials.

I always manage to get loaded.

I come away from this telethon with the impression Karl Rove may not only enter politics, but is considering a run for president. He has the monumental ego of someone who knows "the math", all the donor phone numbers, an insatiable taste for the game, a more-or-less fluent speaking style, and the weakest field of competition in a generation. He would immediately catapult to the top tier, and force Gingrich either to join the race immediately or decline.

It's high kabuki season.

Heh, heh. She said Rove is inadvertently hilarious. Heh, heh.

You would think that the Republicans would realize that the power they have bestowed upon this President will transfer to the next President who will most likely be a black or female Democrat. Doh!!

Damn, I wish Rachel would guest-host Countdown instead of these generic talking head females!

Rumor has it Cheney is planning to sing to Pat Leahy his next "Fuck You" in a nice baritone.

maddow is a destroyer (without name-calling, deathwishes, you know, rightwing pundit tools of the trade). we need more maddow-types on our side.
And Amy is not a bad fill-in actually.

I'd fill her in.

ysbaddaden , you wish ;)

Former Republican governor George Ryan's appeal of his conviction for raketeering and fraud has been denied and he now has 72 hours to report to prison.

forgot to add that that was here in Illinois.

Among the more tragi-comic aspects of the departure of Karl Rove is the media's renewed interest in the Bush Doctrine and its three tenets of no safe havens for terrorists, preventive war and democracy promotion. Last Monday, Rove claimed that the Bush Doctrine would live on and be the President's legacy.

Lost in this flurry of analyses is the basic truth. The Bush Doctrine isn't dying, it's dead.

For the details, see:
"Rove, Cheney and the Death of the Bush Doctrine."

It's funny to try to guess what Rove is really up to. I half wonder if Leahy, Harry Reid and the democratic leadership made a deal with Bush that if Rove goes, the investigations stop. Because it's been awfully quiet on that front lately.

Is Amy giving Rachel the eye?

I wonder about this too. We know that they have more in common with each other than with us.

I also think the Bush Doctrine will just become the Clinton Doctrine [or Guiliani Doctrine, etc.]

Well I know what I'll be dreaming about tonight.... [smirk]

Thanks for the naughty freebie.

Next up, Contessa Brewer enters from an adjoining room with a smoky lust-filled look in her eye....

Alas, I fear this thread just went WAY off the rails, LOL!

Kidding aside, what I enjoy most about any appearance of Rachel on-air is that I can actually feel the IQ of the room going up about a thousand points. Very refreshing. Intelligence made visible.

Here's an interesting tidbit from Wikipedia on Rove:

1992 George H. W. Bush presidential campaign

Rove was fired from the 1992 Bush presidential campaign after he planted a negative story with columnist Robert Novak about dissatisfaction with campaign fundraising chief Robert Mosbacher Jr. (Esquire Magazine, January 2003). Novak provided some evidence of motive in his column describing the firing of Mosbacher by former Senator Phil Gramm: "Also attending the session was political consultant Karl Rove, who had been shoved aside by Mosbacher." Novak and Rove deny that Rove was the leaker, but Mosbacher maintains, "Rove is the only one with a motive to leak this. We let him go. I still believe he did it."[26] During testimony before the CIA leak grand jury, Rove apparently confirmed his prior involvement with Novak in the 1992 campaign leak, according to National Journal reporter Murray Waas.[27]

Once again, Rachel Maddow proves just how good she is.

With the exception of Thom Hartmann, I think Rachel is the smartest, most articulate, talker on either side of the radio dial.

She is funnier than Thom, though.

I'm probably not the first to say it but Amy Robach is a little hottie. Actually, Rachel Maddow isn't half bad either. I like the smart women. Somehow they're just plain sexy when they've got brains. It's just a shame that she'd never be interested in me. Still, Rachel, if you're ever in my neck of the woods, my wife and I would love to "have" you.

man, all this naked smart women talk is making my liberal nipples hard.

and yes, she's spot on. Rovian tactics are now transparent.
He's done. Now he'll be Rush's side kick and AM radio until goes to hell.

Amy Robach is distractingly beautiful. I mean it. I can't watch "Countdown" when she's on. I can't listen to anything she's saying because she's so alluring.

I guess I'll just read the transcripts of the show on MSNBC.com when she's on...

Hah! the intelligence of the room goes up, ............are you sure about that? with all this I do Rachel talk with wifey?

I would just have Rachel as a good friend for the bright side of the force. Rarely you see someone with intelligence and witty without resorting to name calling. So much have been said about the lefty being full of hate. Close your eyes and picture Rachel in your mind and ask yourself is there a smile on her face? If I had the chance I'd plant a big fat kiss on her cheek for all of her effort that she has done. I think she is extremely effective, and I would love to see her on the daily show and match her wits with John Stewart, or go on the Colbert show.

StirFry @ 30:

Hahahahaha! Indeed. Smart, nekkid, and STRONG women. Whedon-esque women!

The daft Faux News blond bimbette is so.... NOT DELISH.... by comparison.

love ya Rachel....

I personally think Rove only has a functioning left half of his brain, and Bush has only a functioning right half. They are both half-wits.

That was a very good analysis. Now...if only the congress and senate take this to heart maybe their mind would follow and proceed with IMPEACHMENT and undo/reverse the unprecedented expansion of the executive power that caused alot of turbulence in our nation and democratic system and to restore the check and balance between all three branch of our government.

How about Rachel Maddow for the old Imus spot on MSNBC?

She is really good.

In re #15:

To the tune of Harry Nillson's classic "You're Breakin' My Heart---"

White House = Whore House

Most of the chatter regarding Rove's departure is along the lines of "what will Bush do now without Rove to feed him his lines in his earpiece. Personally, I think Rove will have a hard time finding another client as repulsive and psychopathic as shrub to manipulate. No doubt, Rove is pure evil, but without someone like the Dim Son to enable that evil, he might be reduced to Limbaugh-like punditry, or writing faux questions for Jeff Gannon.

Rachel was great in this spot. And, she looks so pretty in it too. Good job Maddow.

I think I have a crush on Rachel. I love her voice and she is so smart and so amusing!

Who is the blonde chick? Man, she is hot, hot, I am in love.

[...] Does anyone miss Karl Rove yet? Rachel Maddow dissects Karl Rove’s farewell media blitz [...]

Notice Rachel didn't drool all over Amy a la Chris Matthews. Although I wouldn't mind watching if she had.

Rove will become a male prostitute. Him and Gannon are going to open a new website and DC escort service called "Tops and Bottoms".

If we don't impeach him - SOON - my guess is that He will be our Next president. He's already put plenty of presidential directives, executive orders and signing statement in place to give himself "permission" to retain office in the event of a "national emergency."

Rachel Maddow is really sharp, and has a great, witty, funny style. I hope her bookings increase.
