Mike's Blog Round Up
Part two of my tribute to the fine citizen-journalists who filled in so ably here at the Roundup during my extended absence:
PERRspectives Blog: Hillary Clinton's health care inoculation strategy
skippy the bush kangaroo: Georgia has decided to move its primary up to tomorrow, and Missouri has elected to go back in time and have its primary last fourth of July.
William K. Wolfrum: If George Orwell’s character Winston Smith were around today, his job at the Ministry of Truth would consist of a lot of time editing Wikipedia pages.
The Aristocrats: The Ruperts at FOX were all over this story like ants on a snow cone
Blue Gal: 'Don't Sugarcoat It' Award for August 26
Go read Matt Taibbi's latest, The Great Iraq Swindle: : Rolling Stone
If glycerin soap is so good for your skin, why isn't nitroglycerin?
Thank you so much for linking to The Great Iraq Swindle.
Reading Matt Taibbi's article was painful and infuriating.
"Defaults Bigger Threat for U.S. Economy than Terrorism: Poll
Reuters | 27 Aug 2007 | 05:12 AM ET
The risk of massive defaults on subprime mortgages and heavy debts now poses a bigger threat to U.S. economic prosperity than terrorism, a panel of U.S. business economists said on Monday.
The combined threat of subprime loan defaults and excessive indebtedness has supplanted terrorism and the Middle East as the biggest short-term threat to the U.S. economy," the National Association for Business Economics said.
The conclusion was based on a survey of 258 NABE members conducted between July 24 and Aug. 14 and updates one done in March.
Only 20% of members said terrorism was now their top concern, compared with 35% in March.
"Meanwhile, 18% of those surveyed pointed to the effects of the subprime debacle as their biggest concern, and the related issue of 'excessive household and/or corporate debt' was cited by another 14%," NABE said.
Matt Taibbi is incredible!
Don't read the Taibbi article if you are prone to high blood pressure. It'll blow you away and not in a good way.
Yes, it was an amazing piece of work.
BRAVO!!! And Thank You!!!
Michael Vick just spoke on tv. Seems Michael has done something before most criminals do. He said he has found jesus and turned his life over to god. Most criminals find jesus in jail, Vick found him on the way to jail.
mike vics an asshole , hes not sorry for the dogs he butchered not sorry for anything but letting his admirers down ,well that setteled that for me when he said hed found god, why is it that inhuman cocklickers like this guy only finds god when they are going to jail , after all it was only dogs he drowned and electruted, and the naacps sure that the only reason he was picked on was because hes black, the bs just goes on,
Oooh, el Pretzledente is going to speak soon.

When bush spoke he sounded mad as hell. His boy has left him and it's all the mean old Democrats fault. I thought he was going to spit he seemed so ticked. Wouldn't want to be around him any day, but especially not this one. I wouldn't be surprised if he throws a shit fit in private.
pissed off patricia @ 5:
thankfully, my last checkup was great, so I could take it. But I did feel some pressure on more than one segment. The scariest part is how easy it was/is to cash in on death and destruction, while thinking only of the money. Just the money.
The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein is a great expose' as well.
Lt. Col Scott Rutter is giving a presentation on CSpan-2. He is addressing the Young America's Foundation.
He says that Iraq is getting much worse, and it is the fault of Al Queda, financed by Iran.
I wonder whose strings Pres. Cheney wants to pull?
tyree @ 8:
half the shit you just spouted is as unnecessary as it is untrue. If you're angry, that's one thing. keep your target specific. you're usually better than that.
"in a support role with US led... I mean with the US in a support role..." - Rutter
this just in: Bush to pardon Vick!

If you got the feeling over the past couple of weeks that things are not all rosy, like they're made out to be on the TV/LameStreamMedia, you're right.
Rutter explains that he's a spokesman for the war, who hasn't been involved in the war. His unit is there. We shouldn't assume that what people on the ground are saying differs materially from what he is saying...

Oh, this is rich. Check out Ted Haggard's latest...
Apparently he wants people to send him money so he can finish a degree in counseling at...wait for it...
University of Phoenix. This is one of the most egregious diploma mills in the country. I guess it's appropriate somehow. Here we have a plastic pariah asking his plastic people to send their plastic to him so he can go to a plastic univeristy.
Oops. The link works, it just didn't post quite the way I was expecting.

Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.
Especially for fat old guys who can't get it up.
BaScOmBe @ 18:
Huh? Seems pretty specific to me, and pretty right on, as well.
Weaseldog @ 19:
Lol. Priceless.
sorry my posts not up to my old standards but untrue thats bullshit! hes a prick a butcher and ill be god damned if ill back off any asshole who uses hes immature for a reason to hold a dogs head under water and drow it just because it doesnt have a viciouses enough temprament , fuck him ans any who support theses fucking heartless assholes!
pissed off patricia @ 14:
good! but the dems should have been making more noise, not that the msm would cover them, but you know, we would have followed and echoed their outcries.
BaScOmBe @ 18:
please tell me exactly what was untrue? about what i said !
tyree @ 29:
where is the 'naacps' support for this dog-butcher? If they support 'due process' that's one thing. I'm certain they did not support any legal exception for vick. now that he has plead, I have not heard of any support for vick at all. what I've been reading and hearing is that stupidity and ignorance and money are not excuses.
I have heard of some ignant celebri-nitwits acting like its a black thing, but they are even less relevant than the nfl assholes who were quoted and apparently equally as ignant.
I'll agree with you that vick and his 'circle' should be punished in a manner befitting the cruelty of their crimes. All of them! On the nfl side, Atlanta wants $22Mil back from Vick. That's a good start.
BaScOmBe @ 32:
so then the only thing i said was wrong was that the naacp was defending vick because hes black ,ok i must have missread what the speaker for this dog killer was saying, er maby and maby not!
the future for michael vick
Where's Truman to imprison these war profiteers? The Dems are doing something, but on this issue just they can't punish these scumbags enough.
Thanks, Mike and Blue Gal, for the mention! I never fail to be amazed at the non-existent memory of the the press and the public.
I've never been a big fan of capital punishment but after reading "The Great Iraq Swindle" I'm willing to rethink my position.
hey mike, thanks for the link, and again, thanks for the opportunity to use the big mic of c&l to spread a little linky love around blogtopia, and yes, i coined that phrase!
