Honestly, I'm pulling for Fred Thompson in the Republican primary.

1. He's the laziest S.O.B. in politics. I saw him briefly on Hannity & Colmes and Hannity asked him what policies he disagreed with the other Republican candidates on and he just admitted to not being familiar with them (after months of not even campaigning!) and then said something like, "we (the candidates) are going to get up on stage and tell you our policies and the people are going to pick who they like best" [paraphrasing entirely].

2. He appeals to the conservative base, but if things stay static the population is trending heavily toward moderate/liberal policies. Bush barely won reelection in 2004 despite heavy support for conservatives. I don't think Fred will be able to pull off the same feat.

3. These conservative nutjobs compare Thompson to Reagan and it's ludicrous. They both do have a sort of warbly/gravely voice and they were both actors, but that's it. Aside from the fact that I think the whole Reagan cult thing is over represented in the conservative wing-nut base and not representative of the American people, even those who did like Reagan aren't going to see the same in Fred.

So, Fred is a joke- but he'll be a joke that we're laughing at.

Why are people surprised by the corporate media's response? Their job is to make the company they work for money.
