I've seen a virtual tour online of an abandoned missile silo in the middle of nowhere in Arizona. It was pretty creepy, and several parts had graffiti on the walls and piles of trash from teenagers or whoever else hung out down there.
So the spineless jerks just gave the Chimp in chief another $190 billion for the dual wars (nice to attach Iraq to Afghanistan so as to prevent oppositon). Does this incredibly, hugely obscene number even register any more? But Kucinich is an elf and been divorced and since image and appearance are everything in our national elections, someone who actually represents what the vast majority of the people desire from our leaders will never have a chance.
Madness that will lead us to decay and death. Have at it folks. The traitorous top 1% are laughing at us all the way to the bank.
Blue Buddha, without a doubt, my husband was in that complex in Arizona when he was attached to the 390th MIMS, the only SAC squadron on that TAC base. When they Sierra's the last missile on-base they let the families go out to look at where our loved ones had spent so much time over the last couple of years on the dual deactivation/EWO-ready mission.
When new Airmen would come to the shop, they would take them down to "stand in the W" - the W being where the combustion product would vent through the nozzles. They would direct them to look up - a Titan II was 144 feet from the nozzels to the nosecone - to impress upon them just what the fuck kind of power they were dealing with.

My wife used to work for the AF Museum in Dayton, OH and they recently built a missile room... those things are pretty impressive.
The only time I've been to a silo was when I was doing some work at Vandenburg AFB in California. They still launch missiles there for tests and satellites, but most of the silos are empty and some of the shafts are left open with concrete barriers around them so you don't fall in. The reason why they left some of them open was so that endangered sea birds could nest and roost inside the empty silos... it's sort of an interesting "swords to plowshares" way of using them.
Vandyland was where they held Olympic Arena every year. Launched a Titan II into the pacific - Little Rock, McConnell and Davis-Monthan would compete. On my old blog I had a pic of an OA launch - and the oxydizer is leaking like crazy...I'll see if I can find it - lots of weirdness on that blog after I updated to "new and improved blogger" - which is why I got a new URL.
The only angry trout I know of is the rare killgore Trout, no offense to Al Gore. I don't know if the name of this trout is in any way to do with them being train to kill Gore? but you gotta wonder.

Hey, I live near Wright-Patt! Small world.
Ha! No way! I lived in Dayton from 1998-2005. Most of that time I was out in Xenia... I moved there to a house without a basement only a few months after that F4 tornado hit in 2000.
I have wanted to live in a giant underground complex since I was a little boy. And I always kinda figured it would be more cost-effective to buy a facility rather than try to build your own.

I moved down here in '93 to go to UD. Haven't left yet. I always thought that someone in Xenia must have pissed God off a long time ago because he's made that town his personal bowling alley. I mean he knocked the churches down and left the bars standing in the last tornado.
People are probably gonna get pissed because we are WAY off topic!

Might not be a bad place to hole up (*ahem*) for the next few years. Only problem is you just know there's some old rooskie or chinese nuke sittin' somewhere with the coordinates of that silo complex still programmed into it. That might be a problem at some point the way things are going...
Actually, this would be kinda cool. I saw a show on HGTV about a cat that bought an old silo in Kansas I believe it was, and it looked just like any other giant house from the inside. Just no windows... Be a good place to make a stand when the shit hits the fan and martial law goes into effect.
1.5 mil for that much space isn't bad.
I do have to wonder how/why this is being sold by someone who sells bed frames in his other auctions.

The Descent gets its own theme park!

A missile silo? Might work, a little paint, some throw pillows...

Got a rocket in your pocket?

This will make the perfect underground lair in which to keep my sharks with freakin' laser beams attached to their heads.

You do realize that sharks are a protected species, and you're going to have to use really, really angry trout. ;)

Wonder if they get water in the cellar?
Hey baby, wanna see my huge underground facilities?

I love it! It's just what I've been looking for since childhood when the threat of Cold War Nukular exchange clouded my skies.
Now I can cower in safety within my underground bunker just like Darth Cheney when the NeoCon trash starts WWIII.

It's weird that it's being sold on ebay, though.

Price is cheap enough. Seems like it would be a great place for those rave things the kids have these days. Or maybe a bed and breakfast?
Damn! I just spent my last 1.5 mil last week.
Does Dr. Evil know? I'd sign on to become on of his minions in an underground lair. Maybe we could have bat-cave uniforms too. Nifty.
The funny thing is, looks like the guy who posted this actually has an ebay history...
Too bad he just suicided his entire account by doing this.
Aw crap, that would be so cool. If I had the 1.5 mil (plus at least 3-4 mil more to convert it to something livable), I'd buy it.
I hope someone in China buys it.
