Iranian University Invites Bush to Speak

caption this photo So maybe he'll send Debra "I hate all Iranians" Cagan instead....

Voice of America:

An Iranian university has invited U.S. President George W. Bush to speak about such issues as the Holocaust, terrorism and human rights.

Iran's Fars news agency reports Ferdowsi University in the northeastern city of Mashhad asked Mr. Bush to attend a question and answer session with students and professors.

The White House says it is not taking the invitation "too seriously." read more...

My god, it's a great chance to talk directly to the Iranian people! Why NOT do it?

George W. Bush to speak about such issues as the Holocaust, terrorism and human rights.

Please don't go, please don't go! Haven't we've been embarrassed enough by this boob? Could you imagine the inane, stupid one-liners he'd make on these subjects?

"invited U.S. President George W. Bush to speak about such issues as the Holocaust, terrorism and human rights."

three topics i am sure he knows little about.

Weaseldog's picture

Can they accommodate him properly? Are they set up for imprisoning people in 'Free Speech Zones'?

What if someone asks him a question that isn't in the script?

Does Iran have translators that speak in bushisms?

What if there is a brown or non-christian student in the group he is speaking before?

Can they guarantee a friendly audience and canned questions?

I'm guessing this won't happen.

Bush doesn't even speak at universities HERE! Why would go to Iran?

I say send Bill O'Reilly. He'll put the fear of Allah into them.

oh this will be good considering he can't string three words together and make sense.

Iranians will, I'm sure, be polite while he screws up. It is my sincere hope they snicker, point and guffaw - and perhaps throw a cream pie - at this buffoon.

Bush is too much of a stinking coward to appear before any group he has not hand picked. Bush is a lying bum, much worse than the Iranian leader. Bush has to kiss Israel's criminal ass as well.. I say jail Bush for criminal offenses!!

Talking to people is not Bush's strong suit. Wait a minute! Talking is not Bush's strong suit either. He'd much rather invade and/or bomb a country instead of discussing issues with that country's diplomats or people. Why not send Condi Rice? She can take time out from buying shoes and insulting jewelry store clerks to engage in some diplomacy, right?

Send Lieberman, that'll certainly grease the skids a regional war, that our front runner Hillary voted for.

He's passing up a prime opportunity to rationalize an attack on Iran.

Perhaps they would take him hostage or make him disappear into the Iranian Prison System then Rendition him out to North Korea for "Interrogation".

In any event, it would surly bring about a military response. Oh Yeah, He doesn't know anything about Military Service having got a pass on the National Guard commitment.

Just bustin chops folks.

If the invitation is real & sincere; he should take the opportunity, but I feel it will never happen.

It shows the lack of class that this nation appears to have to everyone else in the world.

We invite the leader of a nation to ours, and insult and belittle him, instead of showing even the slightest amount of respect. We are the United States, we should be showing even our enemies the most hospitality and respect that is humanly possible, to show what kind of class we as a nation have. Instead, we look like petty children.

And now, we have Iran offering to let President Bush speak, likely to show respect and return the offer that we extended them. Somehow though, I think that if he did go, he would be shown an almost infinite amount more respect and class then we extended to Iran's President.

Its sad to look back at what this nation used to be, and how it used to act, and compare it to today.

Weaseldog's picture

When Bush first became President, I was thinking that he should visit Iraq and Iran, in order to kick start negotiations.

But previous to that, he was my governor, so I knew that whatever course would best serve America, would be the one he would sabotage.

With the new Millenium and world leaders extending a hand of friendship to Bush, we had a golden opportunity. Like everything else, Bush took the gold and turned it into crap.

neil's picture

George Bush wouldn't have the 'nads to go. He won't even speak to Americans who oppose him, he's such a sniveling little chickenshit.

I'd love it though - just to hear the opening remarks of the "host" - just like with Akmawhoosiewhatsus at Columbia. They could tell him that he had all the hallmarks of a despot or whatever.

I've always thought those two "leaders" had a whole lot in common. They're both religious zealots, utterly brainwashed and delusional, and fire-breathing, fascistic, bug-f**k crazy radicals.

Israel has committed many crimes against innocent civilians and continues to do so. A simple look at a website put together by Israeli military officers gives an insight into Israel's policies in the West Bank and Gaza. That's just one source. http://www.shovrimshtika.org/index_e.asp

Talking to another government is not supporting it. Besides, the next generation of Iranians are firmly established to bring democratic change to Iran by themselves. I think that America must experience a very humbling emotion: shame. Shame is necessary to develop a national conscience. When that happens, we will begin the brutal process of wrenching power from psychopaths.

Empires keep reaching until they suffer major defeats. How many times have we been lectured on Napolean, Alexander the Great, and many others, about the dangers of overreaching? As if reaching out to enslave other nations through war is an admirable thing.

We will bomb Iran and because of lack of preparation, things will go badly. To compensate, we'll bring back the draft. That will embolden Bush to push into Syria and possibly Jordan and other nations. The backlash will disrupt the flow of oil and our troops will end up in a clusterf&*k in Saudi Arabia. Then next we'll hear that China and Russia is inflaming the situation.

The White House is selling an attack on Iran as a surgical strike. I doubt Iran will see bombs falling on their country as a benevolent act.

i think that a lot of people are behind an attack on Iran because they have been trained since the 70s to hate Iranians. And also because they have no clue at all that this action will force a return of the draft. By the time that they or their family members start dying in Iran, it'll be a bit late say it was all a mistake.

Bush is demonstrating that he can fool people over and over again. This time is will be different. Let's not dwell on the past. Bush said he's sorry, now let's go start another war.

A courageous leader would accept the offer. Afterall, their head of state came here and spoke. To do otherwise would be insulting. But of course, since "W" hasn't an ounce of sense when it comes to diplomacy he will not graps this opportunity.

What would he say, anyhow, "Is our children learning?"

Or perhaps a couple of his other bushisms...:(1) "You teach your child to read, and he or
her will be able to pass a literacy test." (2) "I understand that the unrest in the Middle
East creates unrest throughout the region."

How funny is this? Most of the Iranians probably speak better English than Bush does. And he could not answer any questions on policy, since he is not sure what is going in America and the world.

This would make a good question for a democratic debate, I would be courious what the answers would be.

Maybe that's why they don't have a newspaper subscriptions at the WH.

I don't think people here are supporting the Iranian regime. What people here are supporting is a peaceful dialogue with Iran so that we don't get dragged into another pointless, immoral, bloody, and endless war! Talking to another government is not supporting it. Besides, the next generation of Iranians are firmly established to bring democratic change to Iran by themselves. Attacking Iran would only strengthen the current Iranian regime and would set back democracy in Iran!

Turn off Fox and actually do some research into what Iran is like!

seriously. I don't expect anybody who starts a sentence with "you leftists" to understand any subtleties or nuances to anything. It's always "you hate bush! well you must love Clinton! and Clinton sucks! neh neh neh" or "you're against the war? well you must hate our troops too and our troops rock neh neh neh!". I've honestly lost faith in that sector of society.

"i think that a lot of people are behind an attack on Iran because they have been trained since the 70s to hate Iranians. And also because they have no clue at all that this action will force a return of the draft. By the time that they or their family members start dying in Iran, it’ll be a bit late say it was all a mistake."

This action will incite World War III.

thats what they are shootin for.

then jesus cleans house.

We have a lot of folks that want their grand-kids to have the character building WWII experience. It will be interesting to see how they do in the reenactment of the Winter March on Russia.

Well, the upside is...they'll have great grandchildren that won't need night lights, will have reallly great motor skills that come from the benefit of multiple limbs and fingers and there will be no predjudice because everyone will look alike (is lighty toasted a color?).

Can Bush speak Farsi?

Bush would be afraid to go under any circumstance.

He couldn't stand up to the kind of negativity that
Ahmadinejad took at Columbia. Bush is a coward.

Paul's picture

Make Incurious George could show off his reading skills with a dramatic reading of My Pet Goat. That would impress the Iranians, boy howdy!

JR's picture

Bush only appears in the USA before gatherings where the people are carefully pre-screened so only those who agree with him are allowed in. Do you seriously think he'd go to ANY university (let alone one in Iran) where he can't control the questions asked of him. Ha! Bush is afraid of those who haven't drank his kool-aid.

Of course they're not taking it too seriously. That's part and parcel of American arrogance; the natural rulers of mankind, Manifest Destiny, and all that. I mean, of course he wouldn't go, but I can just imagine the way they disparage the invitation, very "as if..."; "yeah, right"; "we're too good..."

Anyhow ther's no way in hell Bush could answer any of the students questions. It would be hilarious to watch.

You understand that, I understand that, we understand that. It might help avert a war even. No one in this administration is keen to avert a war, and this administration would not deign to recognize their "underlings", especially non-Christian, brownish ones (a.k.a. filth). The only way any of them would arrive in Tehran is goose-stepping, in unison.

I think they should send Debra Cagan, sans Blackwater. Make it pay-per-view.
